Hillary Clinton: Hey, This Executive Action Thing Seems Like Fun! I'll Implement Gun Restrictions By Fiat.

Hillary has proposed to close the so-called, "gun show loophole" by executive fiat. Well, she generously has agreed to allow Congress a chance to do it first but if they don't, well, as Queen she will rid herself of this troublesome body and do it herself.

Clinton’s campaign says that this could theoretically be accomplished via a new rule by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms that would more clearly define what it means to be “engaged in the business” of selling firearms. Gun control advocates point out that under federal law, those “engaged in the business” of selling firearms must perform background checks, but federal regulations defining that phrase are too vague, allowing too many gun sales to proceed without such a check. Such federal regs, they say, could be changed through executive action that, for example, would set a clearer threshold defining “engaged in the business” of selling firearms in terms of the number of guns sold.

So in a Clinton II administration they will simply decide that the Gun Control Act of 1968 is suddenly too vague to enforce and they will decree what Congress has refused to define because....go to hell, that's why.

Something to consider...these "common sense reforms" are supposed to address the "epidemic" of mass shootings and rampant gun violence in general. But all of the mass shootings of late have been committed by people who acquired their guns legally from federally licensed dealers. So adding this restriction on private sales (and that's what this about) wouldn't do anything except expand the role of the federal government into ever more private activities.

As for gun violence in general...do you think people selling weapons to gang members are going to be deterred by yet another federal rule? Of course this new proposal ignores the fact that it's already illegal to sell a gun to someone who isn't eligible to purchase or own one and there are substantial criminal penalties to doing so.

But GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE!

The real challenge here is the mainlining of the idea that if a Republican Congress doesn't bend to the will of a Democrat President, then Congress can be by-passed (because you damn well know the press wouldn't allow a Republican to do this).

The real question in the House leadership races should be about which candidates have a plan to restore the legislative branch's rightful place in our Constitutional system. But that would mean Congress would have to write laws that are more than first drafts for regulators and then fight the President (of either party) who encroaches on their authorities. But that would mean work and doing stuff which is way beyond the competency and interest of most of these people.

How and why we tolerate this is a mystery to me.

latch onto some rising star and follow their orders without question whatever it took.

McCarthy stupidly tried to speak as a "conservative leader" would but is too stupid to know how to do it.

This. All of this.

I was reading an article where Chaffetz was noting that some 60% (I may have this wrong since I'm going from memory and am too lazy to look it up) of Republicans say the GOP has betrayed them. As he notes, that's a very harsh word. It's also accurate.

I scream and scream and scream about the delegation doctrine because it matters. One of the primary checks on untrammeled governmental authority is making sure that legislation is written by legislators who can be voted out if they go too far. Well, the administrative state removes that pesky problem.

By the insanity of cthulhu, I do not comprehend why people who will battle tooth and claw to get into Congress will then lie there and think of England when Obama takes away their power.

93 A couple of things:

1) There seems to be an increase in the number of mentally ill males. Maybe we should look at what drugs and chemicals we are pumping into young boys and into the environment. It's not good.

2) There are many aspects of today's society that are literally insane and could cause marginally stable people to go over the edge, like constantly telling white males that they are evil and must be exterminated, that men are rapists if they even look at a woman, etc. This latest killer and the previous one are black or half black, and may have been influenced by the #blacklivesmatter bullshit. The people and institutions that originate and propagate these lies need to be held to account and stopped, and the truth needs to be told.

That's amazing, assuming the study corrected for the obvious statistical problem: a gun originally obtained by theft, followed by ten "hand me downs," should be accounted for as obtained by theft, i.e. the subsequent transfers shouldn't count.

119 I think that what should be the most troubling about this to people isn't that Hillary says that she will do this, is the fact that this implied power is now something that is unquestionable - that it is an absolute power available to the executive.

Lies repeated enough, become truths. That's not true, but it is true that lies, when repeated enough, become accepted. And that is especially true in our political system it seems. There are innumerable examples in our politics that once something begins to be repeated, it becomes truth:

Tax increases that are less than what was desired are tax cuts. Money collected from individuals in taxes becomes 'federal money'. A cut in the growth of federal spending becomes a cut in overall government spending. The list could go on forever and these things are all bad, but they become innocuous, insidious truths that we not only ignore, but we take for granted.

It's bad shit, but it becomes part of our 'democracy' and we accept it.

That's the dangerous part of this, in my weak mind.

Depends on what kind ow weapon you want and what type of ammo it uses.

The longer the cartridge the more material you will need and the longer it will take to produce ammo to go along with it.

Plans for several weapons of soviet ww2 vintage weapons can be found. One weapon has only 43 parts. Most of them can be stamped, simplifying the process.

Ammo will be the real bottle neck. Unless you have your own mine, lead is getting harder to find.

A Modern Man is:

Trustworthy "On occasion, the modern man is the little spoon, and who doesn't truts the little spoon?"

Loyal "The modern man buys only regular colas, like Coke or Dr. Pepper because brand loyalty matters."

Helpful "He makes sure his spouse's phone and his kids' electronic devices are charging for the night."

Friendly "The modern man still waves at his neighbor as he ambles half-naked down his driveway each morning to scoop up a crisp

newspaper."

Courteous "At the movie theater, he won't munch down a mouthful of popcorn during a quiet moment."

Kind "The modern man buys fresh flowers more to surprise his wife than to say he is sorry."

Obedient "The modern man has no use for a gun. He doesn't own one, and he never will because President Hillary said not to."

Cheerful "The modern man doesn't scold his daughter when she sneezes while eating an apple doughnut."

Thrifty "Every bite of steak is a privilege, and it all goes down the hatch."

Brave "The modern man lies on the side of the bed closer to the door. If an intruder gets in, he will try to fight him off."

Clean "The modern man checks the status of his Irish Spring bar before jumping in for a wash."

Reverent "The modern man cries. He cries often, realizing he has nothing in his life worthy of reverence."

As I understand it, there's a big urban gang market for "rented" guns. Rent it for your revenge killing/home invasion/robbery/drive-by shooting, then return so it can be rented to another miscreant.

By the time the cops get their hands on it, there's a dozen or more murders that come up with the ballistics. Which makes it nearly impossible to use the forensics to get an arrest/conviction for the majority of the killings associated with the gun, because there's no real connection between the gun and the perp.

153 In my opinion as a minister it is fine to occasionally have Interfaith services such as for Thanksgiving or prayer services for peace. I've done it several times. It is absolutely unacceptable for a minister of the Gospel to take down crosses. Jesus' death and resurrection is the foundation of our faith. If you need to take down the cross to make people feel comfortable you don't belong in any Christian pulpit. I have a feeling this particular minister may be a UU in Church of Swede clothing. The practicing Muslims outnumber the Christians, I imagine. She's trying to save her skin.

muslims already have their own churches, so why turn a Christian church into a mosque? Do they not already know which building they're walking into?

She should be somewhere else, not lying to her congregation or kowtowing to muz. She should be kicked out of that church.

Guns are not banned in Austrailia, including handguns.

The gov. regulates who can have a gun, and for what purpose(gee, isnt that nice). You have to belong to a gun club or have a farm, etc. proving need for a shotgun and rifle. For a handgun, you have to do the same thing, including so many visits per year to target shoot.

But if you've got the plans, don't see why it wouldn't be doable with a decent knowledge of machining. Not that I see much use for it; if you aren't laying down suppressing fire it's not super useful, and if SHTF, there will be plenty of giggle-switch equipped AR's lying on the ground.

The greatest threat to the Freedom of the US, can be encapsulated by a phrase that HAS been used by the US Supreme Court...

ie... that the Constitution is not a suicide pact.

They then use that 'idea' to destroy the very freedoms explicitly stated BY the Constitution.

They change it without amendment... and ignore explicitly stated prohibitions, to embrace Powers only granted through Legal Sophistry.

IIRC, MilSpec FA parts are fairly difficult to adapt to semiauto AR15s, but there are Drop In Auto Sears that supposedly work fine. When the FA manufacturing ban went into effect, there was a HUGE manufacturing/licensing push on DIASs which were legally licensed before the ban start date.

You can still find them for legal transfer on occasion, except they're insanely expensive. There's one on gunbroker right now for $29k. Yes, 29 thousand dollars. Looks like it'd cost about $20 to manufacture.

Some of the gun-grabbiers would love nothing better than to use confiscation as a means of forcing a showdown or otherwise dealing with troublesome bitter-clingers. Some of them are Kool-Aid drinkers who would be genuinely shocked when told "no". Some of them are Pollyannas who seem unable to understand that crime starts in the heart, not the wallet or the neighborhood. The whole point of fundamental transformation is to make it possible for the Dictatorship of the Proletariat to be created in the USA. Many of the useful idiots currently making trouble will eventually get the STFU and STFD orders from the Dictatorship when it takes over. Those who do not get in line will receive Napoleon's solution to disorderly mobs that have outlived their purpose.

The real stinger that the Left always forgets is that they can create a Bonaparte, a Stalin, or a Guevera. Do the Democrats really think they can pull that off--nationwide door-to-door confiscation, I mean? I can see any number of ways where sending cops or troops or whoever the hell to individual private homes on gun sweeps could end catastrophically and potentially spark widespread insurrection.

I guess what I'm asking is if Obama (or his Democratic successor should the Dems win the White House in 2016) would be willing to risk Civil War in order to disarm the populace? 267 And btw folks, they won't attempt any mass confiscations.

Here's how they could do it and it fits with past successful product purges.

First raise taxes on all firearms products.
Raise fees and taxes on firearms dealers
Allow current laws concerning law suits be left to lanquish (as is currently been done over the Sandy Hook shooting. The appeals judge has allowed the state to take back control of the lawsuit even though there is a Federal law protecting Manufacturers from those suits.)
Raise fees and change zoning laws for gun ranges.
Ban the use in as many places as can be done.
Require that every weapon have liability insurance.
Ban Ammunition and raise the prices.
Then enact a ban on ownership and rely on informers and well meaning children of gun owners to allow confiscation in detail.

This was successfully done against Tobacco and although it still exists it is not as widespread as it was and there will never be a return to where it's in use by so many.

Guns will slowly become a thing only the boorish and ignorant participate in and eventually through seizures and confiscation from estates will reduce the availability FOR LEGAL OWNERS.

Which is why NO CLAIMS OF COMMON SENSE OR REASONABLENESS OF A GUN LAW SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO GO UNCHALLENGED.

And that includes mental state. Because it is too easy for the Gov to make whatever they want to to become an indication of unstable mind and that will be a big foot in the door for confiscation. Worked for Russia.

You can. A person out on parole or on probation most certainly can. But it's nearly always on a case by case basis.

Or their right to practice their religion?

I think the courts are generally shy of attempting to do any such thing, but it would not be outside of the bounds of possibility.

I would agree, though that a blanket federal law banning the ownership of firearms for persons convicted of non-specific crimes, just certain levels of crimes is certainly unconstitutional. But good luck with that. Your Betters in the Supreme Court know what's good for you, pleb.

I agree, I really don't want some sort of "mental testing" to be a part of firearm ownership because it's such a slippery slope and "doctors" in that field will be more than happy to participate in banning guns and come up with anything the gun grabbers need.

I will concede it's a difficult thing to argue against.

I do think though it should be easier to institutionalize people.

307 They could even take a short-cut and, say, peruse all medical records (yay, Obamacare electronic medical records requirement!) and say if you've ever been prescribes X, Y, or Z drugs, or seen a licensed therapist for more than N sessions, you cannot get a gun. Just think of all the Americans who have at one time take anti-depressants, or have consulted a therapist - it could be so very easy.

I think the only thing missing from this scenario is getting everyone on board with confiscation from the mentally ill. You have to start with the people who can't judge reality. Aural hallucinations and such. Then once you've got the idea and bureaucracy fully entrenched, that's when they strike.

They will have the official rules, and the actual rules. They will lie and obfuscate about what they're actually doing. Nobody will believe the stories of the schoolmarm with a stalker getting her gun taken away. People will argue about the case. One side will call the other truthers. The other side will call the first fascist. The Republicans will grandstand, but won't even consider defunding the agency. Etc.

$11 million grant

"The program, designed after a pilot program started by the Grand Junction-based Rocky Mountain Health Plans, is designed to get doctors, nurses and other medical professionals to go beyond whatever discipline they practice to find the root cause of a physical ailment, mental issue or behavioral problem.

It is part of a national effort spurred by the federal Affordable Care Ace, which requires the Medicare and Medicaid center to find ways to reduce costs with expanded coverage. Driving it is a premise that a physical problem, even something as seemingly simple as a b roken bone, might have occurred because of a mental illness or behavior problem, such as substance abuse."

323 OT but I don't care...

The entire American political establishment has been predicting the demise of Trump's campaign for weeks, even months now, in fact they are so desperate for Trump to go away that many of them are just beginning to pretend that it has already happened.

I fully realize that Trump is only marginally conservative, ok?

but he is the ONLY one I trust when he says he will deport illegals, all the progressive nonsense has already been foisted upon us and the current GOP leadership has done NOTHING to stop it, so the little bit of progressive nonsense I get from Trump is irrelevant.

I just want a leader who I can trust to do at least ONE thing that is conservative, I believe Trump when he says he will deport illegals, I don't believe ANY of the others when they speak about illegal immigration.

I don't like Trump, he's a big-mouth and a hot-head and his political philosophy is not well thought out or even coherent.

none of that matters to me anymore, this whole Syrian refugee thing has crystallized one thing in my mind, our Ruling Class is out to destroy my culture by flooding it with people who have no love or respect for it and this MUST be stopped and reversed or none of the other stuff matters.

we MUST deport at least several million illegals if not 10's of millions of them soon or there won't be any United States of America anymore, it will just be another 3rd world hell-hole.

Trump is the only one serious about this so he is my guy, even though it leaves a very bad aftertaste.

The point is, they have no idea of the number against them.

All they know--all they care to know--is inside their cocoon.

The entirety of the US military and every federal law enforcement officer and every single armed federal employee all armed against and moving against the citizens wouldn't even be enough to take on the gun owners in Pennsylvania.

That 800,000 is ONE FUCKING PERCENT of the gun owners in America.

But, they don't own any guns and they don't know anybody who does ergo: No one really owns guns except a few kooks.

And let's not forget their alternative fantasy: That the cannon fodder they're raising in the ghettos (used to shooting handguns at innocents and the unarmed) will rise up as their back-up army to help defeat normal America.

I suspect most stolen or straw bought and thus the flaw in only asking the criminal where HE got the gun.

Point being that somewhere along the line, an EXISTING law was knowingly broken by either criminals themselves or people who are accessories-to-crime.

A requirement for background checks or similar vetting for private sales will be broken by these people who are breaking the current laws. But hey, the left will FEEL so good about themselves b/c they care.

465 My sister really fucking annoyed over the last few days. She had all these facebook posts about the "need to do something". And against my better judgement, I debated her. And every time I pointed to some statistic like murder is actually way down in the country, or pointing out that no "something" short of waving a magic wand and getting rid of every gun on earth could have stopped the shooting, her reply was still, "yes but it's crazy how many mass murders we have, WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING".

Now my sister isn't a stupid person and while liberal-ish she's usually pretty sensible about politics. But when it comes to guns, holy fuck, it's like she's a different person.

498 In local news-

Police and social workers have uncovered a disheveled group of malnourished blog commenters who apparently have been kept in a darkened room known as the The HQ by the blog owner, a shady character known to gangland rivals only as Ace or "The Ewok". Medical authorities allege that dozens of commenters were kept for hours at a time in conditions that can only be described as horrific. Fed nothing but stale Hot Air the commenters appeared severely malnourished. They were kept in small stale grey boxes for hours at a time while the blog owner played on Twitter, leaving the commenters to amuse each other. Eyes blinking from the shock of being exposed to full daylight for the first time in two weeks the hapless commenters were heard muttering incoherent phrases like "SCOAMF" and "Peruvia FTW!!!" Many of those rescued wore no pants. When asked to point out on the keyboard where their tormenter had touched them they all pointed to the F5 key with hands frozen into a clawlike shape using a pawing motion, while drooling.

The Ewok is wanted by blogging authorities to face charges of commenter neglect.

535 In thinking about it, they wouldn't do confiscations. They would just grab people as they used them. No more concealed carry or hunting - they'll arrest you.

Then there's shooting an intruder in your house. You get arrested for illegal firearm possession. If the police ever search your house and find it, off you go to prison.

So you have a gun, but it never gets used or else you go to jail.

The government then starts paying a good rate for guns. People start taking these thjngs they can't use and turn them into cash.

They never cross the line where gun owners rise up, just slowly use attrition to get rid of guns.

What? Never in any church of Christ have I failed to see a cross displayed quite prominently.

We've had a few fall off the Campbell-Stone bandwagon and start having female ministers, or instrumental music in worship, and even a couple have stopped teaching Baptism for the Remission of Sin as a requirement of accepting salvation. But not display the cross? I haven't seen that one.

Are you referring to the United Churches of Christ? Because that's a very, VERY different group.

553 535 In thinking about it, they wouldn't do confiscations.

Yeah I agree. Plus they will choke the supply of ammo. You can have all the guns you want, but nothing to fire from them.

Shit down all ammunition manufacturers and impose an import ban. Like with anything illegal, there will always be a black market.

And shit like if you are found to own a gun, you lose your kids to CPS, you lose security clearance, you can't work in a school, etc.

They'll make owning a gun a living hell for people who will eventually just say fuck it, and get rid of them voluntarily.

Ah. On the building rather than "in." Yes, that goes back to the 1950s, I think. There was a big push from the more liberal faction of the church to make us "more like the other denominations" (first problem: coC does not consider itself a denomination- so perhaps using that formulation for an argument was unwise), which included starting to call the auditorium "the sanctuary," include a choir, and other things. So in a reactionary attempt to distance ourselves, we moved to boring buildings.

Most newer ones do have a cross somewhere on the exterior, and virtually all of them have one in a public place in the building somewhere (which may or may not be the auditorium- but mostly is). That's been my experience, at least, growing up in the coC.

Well, true.

I think maybe Christian churches need to go back to some Theology 101 and start explaining to their members (and priests, in some cases) why we believe what we believe, and what that means for others' beliefs in relation to us.

Case in point: that Mohammedanism is (at best) a religion worshiping a false god, at worst a heresy and blaspheming of the Holy Spirit, and in either case an evil death cult.

I'm telling you my opinion. Most people aren't going all militia and shit in order to keep their guns. And if (or more likely when) Democrats gain full power, they will ban guns. But it won't be a bill that says "all guns are now illegal". It will be small steps like magainze restrictions, then taxes on guns, then maybe an age increase to 25....bunch of small steps that over time will lead to an effective ban on guns.

But no one step will be big enough to get millions of people to revolt over it.

615 Some will, but the vast, vast, vast majority of people will comply. Democrats know this.

========

After having almost-open racist Marxist Barry *re-elected* in a shit economy they certainly know it.

616 581 It happened in England and Australia. It's nice to
think America is different, but it's not really. People aren't going to
go to war with the military in order to be able to own a gun. Some will,
but the vast, vast, vast majority of people will comply. Democrats know
this.

There is a very big difference between England, Australia, and the US. England and Australia have always had a tradition of limiting arms in their population. It was a major crime in the middle ages for a commoner to be in possession of a sword.

So England, and by default Australia the people are used to having their arms limited. After many years of Americans having their arms when the British tried to confiscate them there was open warfare.

But I think before we had open warfare again people would lawyer up and engage a class action suit. If that failed I think there would be some violent action taken.

617 If God and Christ are so offensive that you have to dilute their message, why bother being a bishop?

So you can ruin it for everybody!

Liberals are parasitic. They know no one would buy into their shit raw, so they salivate when they see a large influential organization the can coopt.

But like all parasites, they eventually kill the host.

What was that thing about playing footsie with Iran and the Isalmists again? Nice job, Turkey. You went and surrounded yourselves with enemies while ticking off your allies.

You know, one could say that this is the story of Obama.

622 If God and Christ are so offensive that you have to dilute their message, why bother being a bishop?

=====

An interesting legalistic twist on the bishop thing: It can't be removed.

Its not a job so much as a status. Once the hands are laid on, its as if God touched them. They can stop being a bishop as a job, but not as a person - and a bishop can create other bishops.

So, there are lineages of bishops unconnected to any recognized church.

624 Well of course! How dare you act so shamefully and dishonor the all-important male egos?

Islamic male egos. Islam elevates the worst human impulses into virtues, like male sexism.

But many of us in the west have our male egos under control. Tee-hee.

626 622-wow, I never knew that. I don't come from a hierarchical denomination, so I do't know the intricacies. But one would think that taking a position such as bishop, the individual would consider the enormity of the responsibility before God, and how their actions come under more scrutiny, as they are teachers. That's some chutzpah, to defy Him like that.

629 The Left doesn't give a shit about the people shot. Their whole game is to use these incidents to yank the people's "liberty teeth" (as Thomas Jefferson called the Second Amendment). If they succeed in doing that, they'll have the power to abrogate the ENTIRE Bill of Rights, because the power of the individual citizen to engage in armed resistance is the ONLY guarantee of our rights.

And they know it. That's why they're so obsessed with castrating law-abiding citizens, despite their protests that it's all about the children or some shit.

WATCH WHAT THEY DO, not what they SAY. There you'll see what they're Really up to. Oh, and remember: everything the Left says is a lie, including "a," "and," and "the."

Posted by: Beverly at October 05, 2015 03:52 PM (urCP6)

630 Its simple every time children are shot the president should arrest n.r.a. leaders and pro gun congressmen and senators and put them in rail road cars in arizona while they await their trials for supporting child killing terrorism.

Posted by: gun control at October 05, 2015 04:00 PM (TkrxL)

631 Trump is simply canary in the coal mine...We cannot have the typical GOPe politician "fighting" for us when we are facing an opposition political party which is bent on the destruction of nearly half of the country.

Let me make this clear so there is no misunderstanding, gun control is simply freedom control. Obama made it clear in his speech that he want confiscation, so does Hillary just that Hillary is willing to do it by EO. It will not stop there.

Once again we are reaching a point when words run out. You cannot have compromise with people like this. I am not sure we are two political parties, but in fact we actually are two countries now. We have just grown that far apart from one another. I hope I am wrong and this will pass peacefully, but I don't think so because history says it won't.
