What Really Happened During the 2013 Nairobi Westgate Mall Attack
Most of what you heard at the time turns out to be wrong.
It turns out, what happened in September, 2013, is not what we've been told. The official line goes something like this: that up to a dozen armed jihadis attacked, killed hundreds, holed up with dozens of hostages and blew the place up, and were taken out in a determined assault by Nairobi SWAT.
In fact there were only four lightly armed jihadis and the police assault was a complete cock-up that took place way too late to save anyone. It was the actions of a few concealed weapon carriers and brave policemen who immediately engaged the gunmen that brought the attack to an end.
While the police hesitated, like the cops at the Columbine, Colorado school shooting in the USA, individual non-police gun carriers and a few bold individual policemen entered the mall in pursuit of the four gunmen. These guys are the ones you see saving those who were saved.
...When the Kenyan police and army finally attacked many hours later, they did it by an uncoordinated strike through separate entrances, and when they two forces met, they engaged each other. After that, the elite police SWAT-like unit took their casualties and went home, and the Army and other police proceeded to trash the place.

Four major car manufacturers were dragged into the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal last night after Government-funded research revealed that their engines are emitting toxic fumes at up to seven times the legal limit.British researchers tested hundreds of new diesel cars on UK roads and found that popular brands including BMW, Ford, Mazda and Mercedes, as well as Volkswagen and Audi, all emitted levels of nitrogen oxides (NOx) far higher than the limits required to pass European tests.
Last night, the researchers said the huge discrepancy between real-world diesel emissions and the legal limits set by the European Commission was 'extremely concerning' - and suggested that Volkswagen was not alone in finding ways to pass laboratory tests.
Makes you wonder if any diesel car manufacturers were able to meet the new stringent NOx requirements. This story suggests not.

As for Roger Waters, I think it's fair to call him the Bobby Fischer of rock music. Brilliant but so ridonkulously bigoted and arrogant he's not worth knowing. I believe I've read/heard that even the other members of Pink Floyd want nothing to do with him any more.

There's something about the "SRY" gene, which is the one of the Y chromosome, that if normal, is what stars the masculinizing process. Things can get screwed up with that in all sorts of ways, which makes for all the crazy gender bender cases. Actually pinning it down is pretty complicated in the marginal cases.

This is the thing I do not understand about Zombie shows/movies. You have a gold mine in terms of story ideas with respect to zombies! Why do so many of them seem to completely forget about the zombies and spend more time talking/arguing/showing the human condition instead?
I think a lot of it on the walking dead is that the creator has swallowed the whole "Humans are the REAL monsters!" trope. All the characters are so... hopeless and joyless.

What is interesting is the lack of his mother. One photo of her. One screen-captured conversation on social media re: guns. No reference, or rare, that she is black or biracial.
It seems to me that it should not matter what race you are if you are a satanic barbarian killing innocent people in a school or a church or wherever (speaking of innocent people in Syria, twelve more Christians were beheaded refusing to submit to islame).
What interests me more is his social media, well-scrubbed and probably the reason for the abnormal delay in releasing his name. It was not to notify his parents first, as what stopped them from the name when Gabby was shot and the media spewed a Tea Party connection? Of course they globbed on to this guy's supposedly being a Republican when he is registered as an Independent in Oregon.
The delay of name, the mom missing information, the lack of social media and, supposedly, doctored crap online plus the school being where one of the Paris train heroes attended do all ad up to me wearing tinfoil. People died if they were Christian. Did Otyrant speak to that...oh, and he is not welcome in that town per the editor of the paper. xoxo

Besides their version of "Best of My Love," there was a disco song by the Emotions with that title, and it actually IMHO sounded a tiny, tiny bit like the Eagles version. Not sure which came out first, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Eagles considered suing the Emotions over that.

FTWD is okay IMHO. At least the characters are learning (albeit slowly) not to be so worthless.
Too bad that it won't lead to Daniel and Strand (the two smartest characters on FTWD) bidding everyone else adieu and hitting the road together like a buddy-cop show.

"Brown Eyed Girl" was perfect for Top 40 radio, hence it gets played to death on oldies stations now. Morrison is at his best on longer songs, usually too long for Top 40 radio, and album-oriented rock stations are almost extinct.

Just after Katrina police bring in a woman high as a kite with a seriously infected laceration to the ER. We fix her up but she is raving that Oprah and Bon Jovi were in her living room the night before. Doesn't seem like normal jabber from a stoned person or organic defect. She is so insistent about it, even relating "conversations" she had with them and "media" that were there that we called a psych consult on her.
Turns out her house was repaired with money donated by Oprah and Bon Jovi and they really were there the night before.

Borders on piano abuse, but he absolutely and (seemingly contradictory, but such is his talent), beats those tunes into sublime submission, makes 'em his bitch.
And to the absolute delight of the audience, I hasten to add.
He'll start out with playing it straight, and it's amazingly like hearing the original, played lovingly and with great respect. But then the intensity......dials up, and it's time to fasten your seat belts.
Worth the price if he's in your area.

Comcast being hacked shouldn't affect your Mac in any way, and you really don't need an antivirus for OS X, i've never used one for mine and never had any problems and i go to some pretty sketchy sites. If you just feel better having one you can get Bit Defender for free from the App Store.

HC Jr seemed like a pretty cool guy to me. His sister lived in the same town where the radio station I worked at, and he would just pop by when he was in town unannounced.
The guys in Hootie and The Blowfish were also pretty good guys. They came by the radio station and sat around the lobby shooting the shit with the staff the whole afternoon of their concert. They finally left about an hour before the concert started. Darrius Rucker was not there, he had to go to see a doctor.
Aaron Neville was about the nicest guy in the world, and if you didn't know who he was, you would have thought he was a warehouse employee. He also had some huge damn arms.

The guys that had lost it and were now in a mini comeback were all great to work with. We used to do a summer concert series at a local high school stadium, (it held about 20K), and some of those guys were just fine with sharing a field house lockerroom with a couple of other bands. They didn't bitch that the place didn't have very many amenities, they knew that about 10K people were outside waiting to hear them, and that is all they now cared about.
Bands/performers don't really understand that they have about 7-8 years to make their hay. After that, they start having less and less appeal as the age group that made them "popular" grows older and moves on to other things.

The main issue for malware makers is where the money is. If you're in the business of renting out a botnet for DDoS attacks, sheer numbers are going to favor building it from Windows PCs.
There is reason why Microsoft finally gave up and made updates mandatory on the consumer versions of Windows 10. The other versions still give you control options (the dividing line is whether the version supports joining a server domain) but the rank and file home users are just never going to do the right thing.

The way I look at it is that it's an instant signifier as to how fucked-up-in-the-head a region is. If you ban single-use plastic bags, you instantly buy-in to a doubling or tripling of cases of food poisoning -- which mostly target the very young or the very old. This is in response to a mostly theoretical threat to marine life or of landfill overuse. So when you're ready to kill 20 kids by diarrhea in a provable way to maybe save a sea-turtle from choking on a plastic bag.....your region must be seriously messed-up.

BTW: as a kid, my older sister was IN LOVE with Bon Jovi and got to go to his concert and everything -- she had a lifesize poster of Jon on the door of the room we shared and she plastered pics of them all over our walls -- Tiger Beat, Teen Beat etc magazines. I was only 7 or 8 but I wanted to be just like my older, cool teen sister so I loved Bon Jovi, too. Sister said, "Jon, Richie, and Tico are mine, you can have anyone else." I chose David Bryan, cool '80s perm and all! I had no idea he was Jewish, so that's really great that he got to perform in Jerusalem.

I don't know what your particular situation was but oftentimes returned mails aren't even coming from your computer. It's easy for anyone to attach your email address as the "From" and "Reply To" addresses, even though the mail isn't coming from your mail server. Other servers turn it around and it comes to you.
I'm not saying that was your problem but it does happen a lot (since it's so easy) and requires no hacking of any sort, just your email address and a name (preferably yours, to them) to attach onto it to make it look like it was sent from you. Your name and address get on a list and ... boom!

Never got around Billy Squire, and Van Halen never came to town when I was working, so I don't know much about them. However, everyone says Sammy Haggar is a great guy, and if my memory is right, he did a couple of call in interviews, and then a week later, the record company sent us some "shoutouts" that he did for the station.
Styx, everyone in the band hated Dennis DeYoung with the fire of a 1000 suns. One of the band members banged the receptionist while they were in town, and he just ragged on DeYoung the whole time he was at the station waiting to "go to lunch" with her.
Michael Bolton was a dick of the first degree. He had a bunch of roadies that were chosen because they could crush a softball. When they would come to town, they would challenge a local station to a softball game. They had very specific instructions on the field dimensions, especially the outfield walls. The first couple of innings would be a regular game, but in the 2nd inning, they would break out some titanium bats, and their long fly balls that dropped short of the outfield walls then started flying over those walls. So the game went from 2-1, to 22-2 real quick as all of his fans cooed and awed that they humiliated the radio station like that. Of course, the radio station was playing with gloves and bats borrowed from somebody since a lot of radio people tend not to be athletes.
But, one station found out about what they were doing, and they got several titanium bats. And, they got some ringers to come play. Same thing as always, Bolton's team takes a 10-1 lead, and they say well, this is the last inning, the radio station then pulls out their bats and starts hitting dinger after dinger. They pull ahead 12-10 after the bottom of the inning. Bolton goes ballistic and says "we can play another inning", they keep playing. At the bottom of the inning, Bolton's team is still down, so now the cocksucker has his team bat in the top of the inning, they get a one run lead, then he says "sorry, we have to go right now because we are late for soundcheck". So Bolton's team "wins" the game and kept their "unbeaten" streak that they would crow about when issuing the challenge to radio stations.
After that, most radio stations passed on playing his softball team. And his music.
The guys from Aerosmith were pretty cool, but Tyler wasn't with them at the appearance, and the vibe from them was that they were okay with that.
Bruce Hornsby, he was an okay guy.
Goo Goo Dolls, dicks.
ZZTop, pretty cool guys.
I really didn't like hanging around the bands because after dealing with a lot of them, you really stopped giving a shit about being around them.

What would/should go into one re-usable paper bag each time, ends up in 17 plastic bags that I will never make up uses for (Tucker doesn't shit THAT much).
I have an 18" base cabinet in the kitchen that is crammed full of those things that I'll never use up - why can't they make them .001 mil thicker and only use one to bag bag my groceries?

The way I look at it is that it's an instant signifier as to how fucked-up-in-the-head a region is. If you ban single-use plastic bags, you instantly buy-in to a doubling or tripling of cases of food poisoning -- which mostly target the very young or the very old. This is in response to a mostly theoretical threat to marine life or of landfill overuse. So when you're ready to kill 20 kids by diarrhea in a provable way to maybe save a sea-turtle from choking on a plastic bag.....your region must be seriously messed-up.

And he was just so rude toward anyone who he has every played with including his former bassist, Micheal Anthony, and even Sammy. Yeah, Perry was really a nice guy, but I never really liked hanging around most of the bands. Me in a suit being busy as hell didn't really lend to wanting to be in fan boy mode. Especially since 4 other people in the previous 24 months had been in my job, and the station owner didn't really like the GM hanging out with record company people. I mostly introduced myself, welcomed them to the station, then went to meetings. Some would stop by on their way out and thank me for letting them be on the air or playing their songs, and Perry was one of those.

If you want to be a professional athlete, common decency would suggest that if you are pre-op you ought to at least be able to qualify in the men's division. Otherwise, you are a lamer, a bully and a coward, and should consider something else that you're actually qualified to do.

Apart from the bad writing, I wonder what she's talking about. The laws on trafficking in human body parts are being ignored, clinics are not being closed because of it. So from the author's perspective, that would be an improvement.

However, in the spirit of being fact based, I would present Bill with a fact and a scientific question. The constitution states that "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Therefore, are fertilized eggs that have attached alive? And, if so, what is their genus and species?
I ask because the right to abortion in a political concept created by the courts, as opposed the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" which is expressed in our Declaration. A possible disqualification of the right to Life, which has presides to all other rights because how can you have other rights and not be alive, would be if you said that the cells are not, in fact, "men."
I find that argument to be disingenuous though, in light of the fact that the genus and species are the qualifier of type for all other life forms despite there level of development. (For example, the metamorphic changes of some insects, fishes, amphibians, molluscs, crustaceans, cnidarians, echinoderms and tunicates considering the consistency of genus and species as defined by DNA from fertilization to death.)
