Overnight Open Thread (3 Oct 2015)

I thought I would just throw this out there before the climate change crowd says the flooding in the Carolinas is because of rising CO2 or something. Hell or high water: the flood of 1916.

Illegal Alien Crime Numbers

Here are some numbers on crimes committed by illegal aliens. Funny we don't see the President pontificating on this violence.

approximately 11.7 million illegal immigrants account for about 13.6 percent of all crimes committed in the country. Nearly 12 percent of murder sentences are credited to illegal immigrants, as well as 20 percent of kidnapping sentences and 16 percent of drug trafficking sentences.

Additionally, there are about 2.1 million legal or illegal immigrants living in the US with criminal convictions that are either in prison and being paid for by the American taxpayer or living free.

And each year, approximately 900,000 legal and illegal immigrants are arrested, while another 700,000 are released from prison.

I'm sure the true number is higher. You're still more likely to be killed by a drunk drivin' illegal than someone with a gun.

Bathroom Issues

This is what happens when you coddle mental disorders and attempt to mainstream them. California mom claims REI booted her for complaining about a man in the girls restroom.

Related. Is it sexual assault to force a woman to shower alongside the transgendered?

Terminator/Hungry Like A Wolf

Not quite up to Weird Al's ability.

Jobs Report

Why September's lousy job report isn't surprising.

Labor guesses at a good portion of the jobs it says are created most months. The guesses at these phantom jobs make spring figures look better than they really are and summer figures look worse.
The phantom jobs are those mostly small-business jobs Labor believes have been created - but they can't prove have been created.
Labor adds lots of these phantom jobs in the spring - and less of them in the summer.
In some months, phantom jobs have to be removed. In the September report, for instance, Labor subtracted 34,000 phantom jobs from its total.

Medical Codes

The strangest and most obscure ICD-10 codes.

1. Burn Due to Water Skis on Fire (V91.07X)
2. Other Contact With Pig (W55.49X)
3. Problems in Relationship With In-Laws (Z63.1)
4. Sucked Into Jet Engine (V97.33X)
5. Fall On Board Merchant Ship (V93.30X)
6. Unspecified Place in Prison as the Place of Occurrence of the External Cause (Y92.149)
7. Opera House as the Place of Occurrence of the External Cause (Y92.253)
8. Prolonged Stay in Weightless Environment (X52.XXX)
9. Struck By Turkey (W61.42XA)
10. Bizarre Personal Appearance (R46.1)

Most Dangerous Cities In America

The most dangerous cities in America.

1. Detroit, Michigan
- Violent crimes per 100,000: 1,989
- 2014 murders: 298
- Population: 684,694
- Poverty rate: 39.3%

The other 9 cities were Memphis, Oakland, St. Louis, Birmingham, Milwaukee, Little Rock, Baltimore, Cleveland, and Stockton. Hmmm. All Democrat bastions no?

Islam In America

Jake Tapper is delusional if he thinks there aren't any muslim-Americans who want to Islamize America.

If Tapper did a little independent research he'd quickly find that America's most respected Islamic leaders and scholars also want theocracy, not democracy, and even advocate trading the Constitution for the Quran.

Facebook

15 Well, it's not too bad up here in the Upstate, SC, where I'm at. I emptied 0.9" out of the rain gauge Friday, and it looks like a smidge under 3" out there right now. It's all good as we were way behind. It's not even puddling yet in the places in the yard and fields where it usually does, so dry it's been.

So, knock on wood, doesn't look like it's going to be another "100 years" rain like we had back in the 90s here, where I had to empty the rain gauge 3 times in one night.

It wasn't too long ago when malls across the country were dead quiet during normal working hours. Today, you drive by a mall on a weekday at noon, the parking lots are half full. Traffic is heavy all day long.

I think if Pittsburgh loses tomorrow and the Cubs win, then the Cubs will have home field advantage on Wednesday night, since the Cubs won tonight and the Pirates lost and only one game separates them in the Wild Card. Is that right? It's been so long since baseball stats meant anything around these parts that my ball-math doesn't work good.

That's actually our true problem in today's world, No Frontiers for testosterone drenched young men and loser with no skills can go to prove themselves and have a chance to be productive for the race and maybe even prove worthy of being allowed to breed through either discovery or perseverance under extreme circumstances (always a good species trait to have in the gene pool).

Note how we don't degrade into peace and serenity. No we degrade into extreme privation and violence.

They'd come in, shuffle around, and then when the clock struck twelve, they'd head to the checkout with a cart full of the shit they needed, including baby formula and toilet paper and all that shit.

They lost 6-4 IIRC in a game they should have been playing to win and not "resting" the best players for the postseason. They should have won all or 3 of the 4 versus the Orioles first and then rested guys for the postseason versus the Rays, who beat us tonight in the 9th.

Dicks. They never listen to me as I scream at the TV set!

I remember watching that on Sunday mornings when I was a kid, it was part of an hour long kids show that was hosted by the guy who did the sports for the network the rest of the week, always felt like they threw the show together at the last minute with a budget of $5, but it was always fun to watch.

The purpose of the Blue Laws was to encourage you to go to church on Sunday, like you're supposed to dammit.

The Supreme Court even upheld them and not a violation of the Establishment Clause because of the "secular rationale". One such rationale was to provide a day of rest for all citizens, regardless of religious affiliation.

Yep, and gay marriage is in there too.

That commandment no longer applies to Christians. Otherwise it would apply on Saturday, not Sunday.

I don't have a dog in this fight, not being religious, but based on what I've heard conservative, orthodox Christians say over the years, my understanding is that since this command is not reaffirmed in the NT, and Jesus healed on the Sabbath, the command no longer applies. The point was that you can create your very own olden days right in your house if you and the rest of the household want to. Every day, as a matter of fact.

The push back came when it was wished that Blue laws were brought back to accomplish this.

264 That commandment no longer applies to Christians.

270 mpfs,

I grew up the same way. I miss Sunday dinners with my family. I feel blessed that I grew up at a time with no digital devices, and TV was seriously curtailed.

But blue laws aren't a solution, especially with our current govt "betters".

Here in CenTex (Bell County), no booze, no beer sold on Sundays. Not much of an inconvenience, but from the heavy traffic and packed parking lots at places like the VFW and other place that can sell (by the drink), the blue laws here don't do much.

One fairly good little rule to ask about a proposed law, is would you shoot someone in order to enforce it. Because that's what govt. is about, use of force, initiation of force even, to force compliance.

Would I use deadly force to stop an abortion? Yep. Would I use deadly force to stop someone from doing business on Sunday? Hell to the no.

It's always those in power who tend to favor force, and those out of power who guard liberty. The left is mostly in charge now, and the right has become the defenders of freedom, mostly. But, when it goes the other way, it will flip again.

--Good comedy, indeed good storytelling, is about having characters that have quirks that can make the audience chuckle, whether from seeing it in others or themselves. KOTH had well-rounded --and yes, quirky-- characters that were ultimately treated sympathetically and not beaten into the ground as strawmen, which is a hallmark of poor comedy or storytelling. (Okay, Boomhauer was kind of a flat character, but another Moron told me he was based on some crazy crank caller to Mike Judge from the Beavis and Butt-Head days.)

373 I love Mark Davis, and his love of the Raiders, but dear God, he travels 500 miles for that haircut.

On the plus side, he invented the hand warmers that players use now (back in 1986).

Funny write up, especially considering it's ESPN.

Are Mark Davis and his Raiders leaving Oakland?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13735322/are-mark-davis-raiders-leaving-oakland

The fact that the slogan for the muff-style hand warmers was "Real Men Wear The Muff" shows he's a Moron in good standing.

Funniest part of the article:

"After the Raiders' third preseason game, a 30-23 loss to the Cardinals in Oakland, Davis went to dinner with a group that included his mother, Carol, and general manager Reggie McKenzie. With no explanation, Davis ripped the top corners off a piece of paper and handed them to McKenzie.

"This is what I need you to get me," Davis said.

McKenzie, flummoxed, turned the tiny triangles over in his hands.

Seeing nothing, McKenzie gave up. "What is this?" he asked.

"Two corners," Davis said. "I need you to get me two corners."

But it depends what neighborhood you're in. I feel fairly safe in mine, but I don't do much roaming around after dark these days. My barhopping days are long in the past. There are definitely neighorhoods that will make me break out in a sweat if I find that I've somehow driven into them - even if it's 2 in the afternoon.

Reminds me of an old anecdote. A woman decides that it's a nice day to go out on a paddle on her local lake and takes the old boat down. She dinks around for a bit, checking out the wildlife, looking for birds, when a fish+game guy motors up.

He goes: "let's see your fishing license." She replies: "don't have one -- and I'm not fishing." He says, whipping out his ticket book, "well, I see you've got all the equipment onboard." Feeling somewhat peevish, she responds: "that's where I store it."

As the guy starts writing out her ticket, she fumes for a bit and pulls out her cellphone. She dials 9-1-1 and says, "I need to report a rape." The fish and game guy looks up, somewhat startled. "Yeah," she continues, "it's fish and game guy with badge number *squints at his badge* 123 -- officer Smith."

Smith furiously tries to interject about "what the fuck are you doing?" -- and she covers the mouthpiece for a second and tells him, "well, I see you've got all the equipment onboard -- one's just as valid as the other."

511 If you're of a certain age (and, yeah, I'm old enough to be that age), SNL is still a big deal. When's the last time a clip of it went viral or anybody you know even talked about it? I simply don't think it matters that much anymore. It remains as a legacy show, like the Simpsons, because nobody has the balls to cancel it at this point. It just doesn't have the influence or ratings it used to, though.

513 The following conversation took place at my house this afternoon:

Wife: Want to go to the gun show?
Me: We don't need anything
W: Ammo
M: We have a ton
W: We can never have too much ammo
M: God I love you

So we went, and while we were these there was a terrible accident. Gingy slipped and accidentally bought a Mossberg 500 and a WWII era Australian Enfield Mk3.

Ooops.

That's 2 more calibers of ammo that we're going to have to stock. I wonder how much .303 costs?

We rode our motorcycles; it was clear when we left, but had started raining by the time we left the show (we're picking up the guns tomorrow. While I like the visual of riding with rifles strapped across our backs, and I don't actually think it would be illegal (transferring a new purchase, unloaded, from the place of purchase home in a licensed vehicle), we decided that it wouldn't be prudent) so we got wet. When we got home I told her "We just rode motorcycles through the remnants of a Cat 4 hurricane to buy guns. I think I've finally succeeded in knocking the last bit of Canuck out of you. 'Merica!"

LOL, sounds like my Mom's family. Her Dad was a Baptist deacon. She went on a date on a Sunday night to a movie, ca. 1951-54, w/ my Dad.

Her father found out and told her if she did it again he would have to resign as a deacon. It WAS a different day and age back then. That wasn't a particularly extreme position in rural IL at that time.

That's every nerdy chick in 80s movies who the film acts as if they're uncool until they take off their glasses and becomes hot. Sure, I wouldn't go for that...at first glance...but you got to factor in the glasses, the 60/70s hair, the 60/70s dress. You gotta see through that. The miners yearned for female companionship, so a lot of whorehouses in SF popped up to accommodate them. Competition was fierce so brothels specializing in one perversion or another came into being.

I know my uncle, who served in the Navy in WWII and settled in San Jose after the war said SF was notorious for gays at that time. He had the experience, as a naive 19 year old sailor, of getting very er, friendly with a young lady he met in a bar there while getting ready to ship out and reaching under her dress to find that she wasn't a she. He said he decked the "lady" - which would be considered a definite hate crime these days and would probably earn him a dishonorable discharge today.

654 641 I remember reading in Paul Johnson's history of the American people that San Fran has had a rep for deviant behavior since the 19th century. The Gold Rush of 1849 drew lots of men. The miners yearned for female companionship, so a lot of whorehouses in SF popped up to accommodate them. Competition was fierce so brothels specializing in one perversion or another came into being.

Whorehouses existed in every single part of the US since settlement. SF, and the Western part of the US was never unique in that sense.

Anyone reflect much about all the effort we've been putting in to be the world's biggest magnet for homosexuals, gender-dysmorphics, and pedophiles? To the point where it wasn't about "fairness" or "equity" for that 1% proportion of 300 million citizens that might have such predelictions.....but about absorbing that 1% of 8 BILLION individuals who might respond to the "we'll protect and subsidize your lifestyle" signs our nation is putting out there?

Because the NFL wants to put a team in London and in Germany.

The NFL knows that TV rights aren't going to keep going up like they have for the last 40 years, so they see that adding teams in Europe will open up a new income stream for the league.

If you don't believe it, NBC just paid $1B over 6 years to air English Premier League soccer games. Games that air on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Now the NFL will be able to get a contract to air games in the UK and Germany in primetime. Plus, the games that will be played in the UK/Germany will open those games up to be broadcast on another provider. YAHOO is ponying up some bucks to air the 10/25 Bills/Jags game. Neither the NFL or YAHOO said how much they paid, but it was probably in the 7 figures.

And then there are those of us who feel that the US is a hugely greater force for Good than Russia, but that the US President is an ineffectual lackwit not 1/10 as effective as Putin. For those who like math -- Obama = US (90% good) x Obama's competence (3%) = 2.7% for good. Putin = Russia (40% good) x Putin's competence (30%) = 12% for good. A large part of the disparity is that Putin has zero belief in the Marxist bullshit, where Ozero is Critical-Theory/Hamburg-School/Marxism from the crib.

For genuine amusement on the matter ask friendly acquaintances if they think the Fed is a bank or a discount wealth liquidation firm.

725 That figure-8 racing video is about the most mesmerizing thing that I have seen in a long, long time. Hard to look away. Fantastic addition to the ONT, even better than Russian dash camera videos.

726 Morning roonz and roonettez. The Blue Ridge was a bust north of Roanoke as well, closed due to weather, so we just jumped on the interstate and went north. Presently in Sterling VA visiting Brother In Law but we did get by Winchester to see Favorite Niece (at least she says she is the favorite).

I need front brakes on my car, but it's Sunday and no one has them, so it will have to wait till we get home. Just as well I suppose since I don't have any place to put them on anyway.

Today we will head back home. It's been fun traveling but it will be good to get back.

Yeah well, just wait till it undergoes facial felinization surgery: snout reduction, ear triangularization, eye enlargement. It'll be real convincing. I'm hoping she'll make the cover of Cat Fancy Magazine. I could tell she was real miserable as a cisdog.

728 I resent the hell out of looting $4000 per person out of every man, woman, child, and babe-in-arms in my city to build a useless sports stadium that was obsolete before construction began.

Not sure if it's an option for you, but that's why I moved to the 'burbs from NYC right after DeBlasio got elected.

It's truly a relief every day to read about his latest harebrained scheme and think, "I'm no longer subsidizing this shit."

729 How did we get to we're your sexual orientation is a social construction or whatever you think it is. There is no logic in it there is no science in it, but yet society must conform to it actively.

Something I've been pointing out on a regular basis in the other places I occasionally venture. It's not just ascientific... it's actively a religious ideas. They're talking about souls being born in the wrong body for crying out loud. Once you ignore the fact that it doesn't conform to a mainstream religion, it's a belief that concerns souls.

And they're demanding that we base public policy on their religious beliefs.

We seriously need to file some suits to get this shit thrown out under the separation of Church State.

Classifying it as a religion lets us use pretty much every attack they have against Christianity against one of their pet constituencies. It's time to brew up some gander sauce.

738 >>> How did we get to we're your sexual orientation is a social construction or whatever you think it is.

Feminism/gay rights. If sexuality is all just a social construct, then it's all just arbitrary, a reflection of who's in power. That means women are the same as men, and gay love is the same as straight love. It's their shortcut to achieving "equality".

Posted by: Caitlyn Jenner at October 04, 2015 05:53 AM (O96tM)

739 The typical leftover tries to dodge my religion statement by saying that it's not a religious belief and that they themselves never said anything about souls. I usually follow that up with "so it's a body___ disorder, like anorexia then? We don't tell anorexics that they're fat." About this point they start getting like a deer in the headlights, and I hammer it home with "It's either one or the other, and the scientific approach is pretty obvious here. Choose wisely."

740 The interesting thing is I think it was in the famous tv interview, he (Caitlin) still wants to have sex with women. And now because of some lefty judge can roam into women's locker rooms legally.

That point also needs to be made far and wide. A person needs only to call themselves a transgender, even if they look like a man, and they can walk into the women's restroom. What's the point of even have a women's restroom anymore, at that point?
