For a long time, we have suffered these intensely-partisan claimedly-neutral "fact checkers" who scan Democrat lies for ways in which they could, possibly, be claimed to be true (or ("half true," if a total lie), while vigorously dreaming up hypotheticals in which a true Republican statement can be deemed a lie (or merely "half true," if obviously true). Howard Kurtz now fact-checks Michele Ye Hee Lee's "fact-checking" about whether Carly Fiorina started off as a secretary. Here's the thing: She did. Period. Lee offers up strange reasoning to debunk this -- that she served as secretary between law school and business school -- yet she just seems to want to avoid saying that it's true She did start as a secretary. There is no question about it. Certainly there's not a "Three Pinnocios" lie contained within it. For her heroic service to the Hillary Cause, Howard Kurtz awards Michelle Ye Hee Lee four Pinnocios -- a full-on lie with no redeeming truth in it. We need more of this. We need someone, Fox I guess being the obvious candidate, to fact-check the fact-checkers as a regular thing, in maybe twice-a-week columns.Comments

I owned HP stock when she was CEO and I did very well. I shorted HP stock when she was sent packing and I did even better. The first was because of the actions she took buying Compaq, etc. The second is because I short stocks almost automatically when CEO's exit controversially.
My bottom line - literally - is all I know about how good of a CEO she was and it tells me that she wasn't near the CEO she was portrayed to be.
HP was on the skids before she took over. She did a hell of a job saving it, in my opinion.

Hell if I know. If we're putting personalities and electability aside, I actually like Rand Paul quite a bit. But he comes across as kind of a pussy and obviously he doesn't have a chance. He's the only one I would trust to seriously gut the government though.

1. Carly was a secretary
2. She hasn't hidden her background. The website mentioned by WaPo doesn't hide her family background.

It's a pet peeve of mine. So sue me. And I went overboard on the "decent, wooden kid" thing trying to express that he wasn't lying when his nose wasn't long, which was the identifying characteristic of him and the story of having his lies exposed. That is the measure.
Rating someone by "X Number of Pinnochios" would be better measure of his fleshless, wooden nature than his lying.

Believe it or not, but to many, the real problem with this country is all the abortions, not the debt. Frankly, I'm concerned with them both, but given the choice, I'd rather eliminate the abortions. That does not mean I don't care about the debt. But it is not a distraction as you say - it may be a distraction to you - but not to a lot of us.

As someone pointed out about Trump, he's the guy who is rich but still has some normal guy traits and can relate to other income groups. You know what would help Fiorina? She should come out and say:

It's like when Trump doubled down on Immigration. I would wager he was in favor of amnesty up until he made an off the cuff comment about immigrants being criminals.
Then he lost a lot of business deals. But he doubled down, and I'm fairly certain he's ready to build the wall sheerly out of spite.
Now maybe it's all posturing on both their parts, but the other guys aren't even posturing on anything (except Carson, who picked the low-hanging fruit of saying a Muslim would be an awful president).
If Carly spends her time in front of a microphone agitating against Planned Parenthood, I think that's useful.

I believe she backs exceptions. She used to, at least. This is a great example of where a displayed willingness to move the ball forward matters more than absolute alignment or purity on an issue. Marco Rubio states he is a 100% pure, no exceptions, kind of guy, but I have no expectation he'd try to shame his own party to take this fight on the way Fiorina has done here.
This has long been an area where people needed to speak bluntly and directly about what is happening. For too long, we allow this to be sanitized. There is no reason tax dollars should be going to this group. She's taken a no apologies, no excuses direct line of attack, and done it over political ground that could be won if R's showed any inclination to fight over it.

Many states have legislatures (elected by actual citizens) who have placed restrictions on abortions.

You always have the option to go Punisher on their asses. I am totally against abortion, 100%, and totally agree these videos and the actions of planned parenthood are despicable in every way. But, at the same time, I feel like people's rhetoric is a tad hypocritical. Some examples.
- Defend shipping jobs to China, the abortion capital of the world, that's capitalism, while denouncing abortion here at home.
- On the world stage some of our allies in the Middle East are leading the cause against abortion. For example the doha institute for family studies and development. So we'll disparage them as terrorist-sympathizing dogs all the while behind-the-scenes they are doing a hell of a lot more to oppose abortion than we are.
- Use very strong rhetoric here at home about abortion (like the quote above) but then act in a manner that seems to suggest otherwise. Tell me, if there was a fucking child sex slavery ring operating down the street, and it was acting with impunity and support from the government, would you have the guts to take matters into your own hands? Liberals are correct to point out that convervatives often use very extreme language that suggests something as vile as this is literally taking place. And if something that vile truly is taking place, why aren't we taking matters into our own hands? Long story short, I don't think people really believe what they are saying or they would.

Some people took matters into their hands. The guy that killed Tiller, the guy that killed the doctor in New York with a sniper attack, and the lady who tried to kill Tiller earlier but failed.They're associated with The Army of God (ding made a watch list!), as was Eric Rudolph. All anti-abortion. I don't support their actions but you can't say they didn't take a stand. Is Tiller still performing abortions?

Sexual revolution "liberates" women to have sex with no consequences, minus the inconvenient fact that they get pregnant. Abortion "fixes" that. Women vote. Women like keeping their options open.

Great point. Because if you think about it logically, with this as your starting point, the only conclusion you can reach is that the writer just wanted Carly Fiorina associated with the term "3 Pinocchio Liar".
Because, let's be honest, in a real Op-Ed about Carly's background, the "she wasn't REALLY a secretary" line of attack is nonsense. Nobody would even print something as a stupid as that.
But if the whole idea is to smear her with "Carly = Liar", well, job well done.

Correct. Accidental pregnancies were more prevalent prior to the pill. I agree though that easier access to abortion changed the mindset for birth control because it became a viable option .

Well why didn't they? At what point is it time to go revolutionary? If the answer is only that it's unwinnable, then that supports my original point about it being a loser subject. Clearly we tolerate things within our society that we may not agree with - a lot of things. Either abortion is something we can tolerate, even if we disagree with it, or not. I don't see a lot of middle ground. Some things you vote for, other things you shoot for. If you're willing to just vote for it, then that means you're willing to tolerate the outcome of the election. There are some things for which I would not tolerate the outcome of an election and would totally be willing to die on the hill for. Abortion isn't one of them. I will vote NO though.

In this case probably even more true than you realize. Abortion at its "best" is an offense against hope. Women succumb to the lies that an "unwanted" pregnancy means the end of their education, an insurmountable financial burden and the end of their desirability. They give in to despair and stoop to murder as a remedy.

The reality is that folks of a certain age--I'm in my early 70's, Ms. Fiorina is in her early 50's, had a lot of different jobs in their school and early career years. And Ms. Fiorina sure as heck was a secretary at some point before she headed off to business school. It could be that the young twit at the "WaPo Fact Checking School of Bullshit" never had a job until Mommy dropped her off at the WaPo doorstep.
