The Ahmad Hoax Is Not Going to Hold, and The Media Will Be Massively Discredited

I suppose that headline is a bit optimistic -- the media is very good about suppressing stories that expose them as frauds; see the Gosnell coverage.

But we're coming to a point where the media's continue refusal to acknowledge the obvious is going to become very embarrassing to them.

IBD states the obvious. (I can't quote it because it's short, but it dispels so much of the previous myth-making here; do read it.)

Suggesting, to me, that we're about to hit the moment of Peak Media Embarrassment is the fact that the tech community is now openly referring to this as a hoax. They focus on the fact that this kid did not "invent" anything -- he took a mass produced clock, took it out of its case, and put it into pencil box that looked like a small suitcase to make it look like a "cartoon" bomb.

People who do tech know that no one, not even a ninth grader, would think he did anything of value here, unless he were mentally slow, which this kid is not said to be. Some in this thread call it simple "plagiarism." That is the exact analogy I used in talking about this: It would be as like a ninth grader simply xeroxing "The Old Man and the Sea" and then telling people "Look at my story."

No one who is not mentally slow would think that mere act of photocopying made it "his story," and no ninth grader who was not mentally slow would imagine that taking a mass produced clock out of its case and putting it into another case constituted making an "invention" or even "building" a clock.

Two videos to illustrate the difference between an electronics hobbyist building a clock and someone not building a clock.

First, here is someone actually making a clock:

Now, here is what Ahmad the Genius Clock Inventor did:

Anyone see a difference? A slight difference?

Why would someone -- apart from someone who is mentally slow -- imagine that the latter "invention" was worth showing off at school at all?

I was once a ninth grader. If I had, say, taken a bit of blue transparent plastic and laid it over the red screen of a digital clock, I would have made the numbers appear purple rather than red.

This would have been more of an "invention" than Ahmad achieved -- I actually would have changed, in a minor way, the performance of the device -- and yet I would never have thought for one second that such a minor, trivial, idiotic alteration was worth showing off to anyone.

Worth doing? Who knows; maybe if I were going through a Prince phase.

But worth showing off to multiple teachers?

Hardly. I'd think they'd think there was something wrong with me for being so proud of something that a baby could do.

But we are told that this kid is a genius -- so much so he's getting scholarship offers from MIT -- for a hoax, and for a plagiarism.

Why would anyone think was an "invention" worth bringing to school?

18 You know what chaps my hide here? That I, too, was fooled into supporting - in however minor a way - this whole deceitful family.

My original take was that the initial suspicion was not unwarranted, but that the arrest was. Every day makes it look more and more like that was wrong - the arrest was not only warranted, but there's an argument that the young man should have actual charges pressed against him, and possibly his parents and big sister, too.

Mohammedanism is an evil death cult. This is not helping me hold onto my illusion that some non-practicing Mohammedans actually exist.

95 OK.... some may say I've gone off the rails by conflating some information... but...

Its the Media Jake...

The Media no longer has any shame... nor cares WHAT they spout, as long as it gets them airtime.

Bruce Jenner cross dressing, is not a serious news story, yet it is still being forced onto us.

Mary Katherine Hamm's husbands accident would never have gotten national attention, except SHE is a media person.

Little Ahmed would be back in school by now... EXCEPT that it was a contrived Media event... that the media bit on.

A bus and a duck boat just crashed in like Washington... and its suddenly a NATIONAL story???

Yet.... there was a murder 4 blocks from my house a couple of weeks ago... and I JUST found out about it yesterday...

Seems that stories I really don't care about at all, are shoved in my face constantly... (like wall to wall coverage of the Pope... I'm not Catholic, and hell don't even consider myself Christian)...

Yet stories that could affect me directly, I don't hear about at all.... (only heard about the local murder through my Mom, who heard it at church)...

And then people here biatch about Low Info Voters....

I watch less and less news as time goes by... because it is filled with horrible news... that does not effect me or mine. It traumatizes us until we no longer want to watch... and then of course we miss the few real things we actually NEED to know about.

The way to deal with it is to assume innocence on those points, take

do not bring electronics projects, private or school-sanctioned, to
unrelated classes, go and sin no more with this detention ship - because in the sense that plugging his
clock into the wall (which he did during English class) led to an
interuption in English class activities, he has erred enough. And he could never do it again wit plausible deniability.

Trying to intimidate him into admitting he brought it to school to get a rise out of people, not with a scold and demerits or detentionwith arrest and interrogation, produced nothing value-added and never would. Making him creep home with nothing to show for the stunt but lost free time might have made the proper impression.

Questions are one thing, but the school and police courted the following preening PR palaver. If a low key, if sensible, approach had been used this wouldn't be a thing at all.

I guarantee it was administrators at MIT who offered the scholarship, not people versed in anything.

The speed at which everybody moved convinces me this is a PR stunt. Google, Microsoft, MIT get positive press. CAIR gets positive press. Obama gets positive press. His enemies - the police and white conservatives - get a black eye, and when the truth comes out, nobody gives a shit, because conservatives are icky racists.

Exactly. And what would happen if they shrugged off Ahmed this time (and didn't at minimum find out why he was trying to scare people - potential bullying situation) and then Ahmed next brought a weapon to school? Can you imagine the outrage of the (potential) victims' families that the police didn't take the threat seriously?

The school was treating Ahmed as a potentially troubled student, they weren't looking at him as an attention-seeking Muslim.

The Senate on Thursday rejected a short-term spending bill that would defund Planned Parenthood. Senators voted 47-52 on ending debate on the short-term continuing resolution, well short of the 60 votes needed.

The vote divided Republicans, with eight of them breaking ranks. Sens. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), Susan Collins (Maine), Tom Cotton (Ark.), Dean Heller (Nev.) Mark Kirk (Ill.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rand Paul (Ky.) and Ben Sasse (Neb.) all voted against moving forward.

After the vote, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) filed a new short-term spending bill that would fund the government and Planned Parenthood.

All of the "______phobic" labels are just conversation changers designed by the SJW movement to put the conservative side of the discussion on it's heals. I am not islamophobic in the sense of having a psychological condition. I am only islamophobic in the sense that I have a sense of self-preservation. But I am not afraid of them. Nor am I afraid of homosexuals.

The question was generic ... "what does this look like?". I think "Ahmed" was never mentioned.

I now expect the SJWs to stage massive witch hunts on college campuses.

There's no such things as "facts," just statements that identify your tribal membership.

The song of our times. That's really how it goes. Demented people living in safe, soft, comfortable times, thinking they can impose their will on reality and it will bend. People deluded into thinking they can make their own truth because nobody will say otherwise.

254 The Left gets to portray America as "Islamophobic" for a few days in the headlines

This is the kind of crap they just love doing. But maybe they should ask themselves:

Who loves blowing up passenger airplanes, coffee shops, newspaper outfits, and other civilian targets the most on the world stage for the last 40 years or so?

Maybe it isn't really a "phobia," ie, unreasonable fear.

Have you noticed that the media actually does talk about how bad things are? Since the article in the WashPo a week or so ago about the rise of the desperately poor in this country, I've started paying attention to 'stuff'. The media is actually telling stories about how bad thing are getting not only in this country, but also in the world.

But never, ever - and I mean never, ever - in the context of Obama. It is always in terms of either capitalism is destroying the world, or shit happens.

Obama, healer of planets and stopper of rising of oceans, has nothing to do with it and further, can't possibly be expected to do anything about it.

What is even sadder, after all of these faux news stories - we as a society keep falling for them. And we are too lazy to demand an investigation into truth.

In today's world, our educators and school administrators dive for cover if they hear the snapping of bubble gum. We excoriated them for not acting when hindsight showed there were troubling signs leading up to when a student committed a horrendous act. Now we beat them up for being cautious? WTF?

268 I'll confess to being taken in by this story.
In my defense I didn't actually read the whole thing, in fact I didn't even read to his name, so my initial thought was actually "Texas, brown kid, probably Mexican."

The original stories reported his dad owned an electronics repair shop, without reading I assumed he threw together some parts from there.
Here's the thing, I was part of the "destructoid" crowd at that age, I took shit apart a lot.
Electronics, since I knew nothing about them, were actually kinda boring. They all look the same on the inside more or less (again, with no real knowledge)
So I gravitated towards the mechanical. As do most kids this age who can't make heads or tails of a circuit board.
My friends who stuck with it (and had electrical engineering parents to help them) by this age had actually learned to solder.

Based on the other "stuff" I've seen from this kid (basically a bunch of stuff removed from it's case) he has no idea what solder even is.

Breaking news:

282 Remember the mindset goes like this:

-Everyone is equally valuable. No one is better than anyone else. To say otherwise is to discriminate, and discrimination is evil.
-Therefore, if anyone does better than anyone else, they didn't manage it by personal ability or talent. They cheated. They stole. They oppressed and kept others down.
-If anyone does worse than others, its not their fault, they were held back by oppressors and cheated.
-Therefore, people who are doing better need to be punished, held back, controlled, and limited.
-White males from Europe have been dominating the world with technology, music, culture, art, industry, and just about every other sphere and clearly since they did so by immoral and oppressive means, must be stopped and punished.

Remember that and the insane things the left does begins to follow a pattern.

Sure, its insane. Sure its utterly without any reality. But that's what they believe and why they act.

332 This is actually true:

When I was a rebellious tweener, my and friends made what we called "Drano Bombs" using the following technique:

- Get some of those old aluminum film cannisters that used to be commonplace in the pre-dgital-cameras era; camera shops would dump thousands of them per week. They looked like mini 2-inch-high metal cannisters with screw-top lids.

- Steal a contain of Drano crystals from under some mom's sink.

- Put about a tablespoon of Drano in the bottom of the completely dry cannister, then put a teaspoon of water separately in the lid.

- As quickly as possible, slam the lid down closed on the cannister and screw on the lid and throw it with all your might.

Five seconds later:

- BOOM!

Then run like hell in every direction!

So, OK, we were for real learning about chemistry.

But no one gave a shit about "learning." Instead, we got a night in jail and a juvenile record.

That makes me wonder if something was not amiss. These days, as it pertains to politicians, you can never tell who is stabbing you in the back, or standing on principle about something that isn't readily apparent. And then when they come out with their explanation of their principled stand, you can't tell if they are lying to cover themselves or not.

I've given up trying to discern any more. I just make generalized judgements about the character of the person based on some major actions, and unless they do something overtly opposed to conservative ideals, I just blow it off.

This bears repeating. The fearful aspect of this all is that it will take much more blood shed, many more terrorist attacks which we and Europe are opening the doors for before this becomes a war we will get involved in as a country in order to fix the abortion problem and Muslim problem.

Poland was invaded on Sept 1, 1939. It took 2 years and 3 months later before Pearl Harbor. We stayed out of the war all that time. Hitler was invading Russia by then.

Posted by: Grump928(c)

Believe it or not, they had condoms back in ancient Rome!

Seriously.

Back then, they wee made out of fish skin, and broke pretty often. I think it was the French, 1600 years later, who made a revolutionary condom improvement by switching to lambskin.

Final step was switching to rubber, in the 20th century.

But the Arabs actually DID invent a form of birth control:

The IUD.

For real.

But it wasn't for humans -- it was for camels.

On transcontinental caravans it was a major problem that the female camels tended to get pregnant, and thus walked slower and slower, and slowed down the whole caravan.

Sometime in the distant past some Arab got the idea to grab a handful of pebbles, and then literally reach his arm up the female camel's vagina and push the pebbles into its uterus.

I know, yechhhh - - but it worked.

This primitive IUD prevented the camels from getting pregnant, and made the caravan trade faster and thus more profitable.

This was invented long before Islam appeared -- no one knows the exact date.

I think it took another 18 centuries before some european got the idea to try it on humans.

Probably his intention (or his CAIR bear dad's) all along.

The teacher was obligated to call the police.

Another overlooked point here: it's not necessarily "Islamophobic" to worry about bombs being brought into a school by students. Spree killers with no Muslim affiliation are also interested in bombs.

Klebold and Harris had rigged up impromptu propane tank devices which they had hoped would work as bombs, as part of their Columbine school massacre.

Posted by: torquewrench at September 24, 2015 04:10 PM (noWW6)

I'll note that the deadliest spree killing in American history was at a school.......with a bomb.

401 I would not be surprsed if this was cooked up IN the Oval Office in conjunction with CAIR.

Nothing would surprise me anymore. I suspect the absolute worst, and
whenever the truth is revealed by accident, it ALWAYS is either as bad
as or even worse than I had assumed.

404 398 big bad comments. Some with world class snark. Obama and his street fighters do not worry about your biting criticism.

Here's a thought. Why doesn't someone with deep pockets hire a group of professional protesters who can lock arms and block the vehicle bringing the undeserving fraud to the WH. Make DC police haul em off.

It's going to take a lot more of the bad stuff, before or if, we ever address any of these two plagues

And they still praise their socialist hero God FDR, that lying bastard. Talk about God waiting on doing anything about Auschwitz . . .

Exponential Margaret Sanger and even the Pope. Maybe Ahmed's clock is a sign from God . . . about Time.

406 I expect Obongo is too stupid to think of this, but he could perfectly well be getting played: suppose the idea of this was for Mohamed to get invited to the White House with his startling invention and then to blow it up. I can think of ways that Ahmed Son might attempt to do this, but propriety insists that they not be recounted.

Sound far-fetched? Of course it does, but I bet zombie Rajiv Gandhi wouldn't laugh it off, and flying planes into buildings at one time sounded far-fetched too.

And imagine the coup it would represent for the Muslims: attacking the Great Satan at the seat of government.

414 "But we are told that this kid is a genius -- so much so he's getting scholarship offers from MIT" Yes, and nothing is going to change that, because the kid is a Muslim, and he isn't white. He's going to ride the cultural marxist choo-choo to a highly successful, famous, lucrative life, and no amount of logic or exposes are going to derail that train. So just give up. We lost the culture decades ago.

416 He could be mentally slow, it wouldn't be the first time Islamists have used them in their political holy war, like in Afghanistan and Israel, in suicide missions even. And his sister feeding him answers along with a CAIR handler. This kid could be just slow, and that's why they won't release the police interview. Or he could have went along with it. We'd know more if they would release the video interview by the police. But they won't. So, doesn't look like they care if they look truthful or not. That tells ya all ya need to know.

Posted by: ChristyBlinky, aging supermodel Redneck Queen at September 24, 2015 07:37 PM (LJ4iV)

418 OK, so the kids a hoax terrorist or whatever.

But do keep in mind they showed you how to make the clock, take any common digital clock, take off the plastic, stick the clock in a box.

So for people who thought it looks like a bomb, a cartoon bomb maybe. TV bomb. But please don't go home, say eenie-meenie-mini-mo, microwave, telephone, oven, tv remote, tv, dvd player, radio, or whatever, take the screws out, open the plastic and call the FBI and tell them someone put a bomb in your vacuum cleaner.

419 So kid is not a genius
He is 14 years old
He took apart a clock put it in a pencil case
Idiots thought it was a bomb. But of course never actually treated it like it was a real bomb no evacuations or bomb squad was called
But unlike the kid with the pop tarts. He did not just have his parents called and miss 2 days of school for bad judgement
The click kid was handcuffed questioned without either parents or lawyer and sent to juvie

422 How is Obama's "cool" comme t different than GHW Bush's about the grocery store scanner? I'll tell you the difference:

1. The media skewered Bush for months about that comment.

2. The scanner actually WAS cool. It was a new type that had just been introduced into service.

We all know this clock boy episode was a false flag op but at least there is a narrative that Obama's IQ is demonstrably below average room temp.

423 I have not seen any credible evidence that school personnel thought it was a real bomb rather than a hoax device intended to make people nervous (on the first school day after 9/11). The school has not been allowed by Ahmed's family to release their records of the incident.

Has anybody confirmed whether or not the kid had to plug the box into the wall and set the alarm in order for it to go off during his English class?

Posted by: KT at September 25, 2015 12:31 AM (qahv/)

424 It didn't have any battery, so a plug-in would be the only way to make it beep.

The teacher was not obligated to call police, and didn't call police. She took her sweet time with the crazy clock.

After a short argument with her student trying to tell him what it was, and he resisting with "its a clock, it doesn't look like a bomb to me", she confiscated it. Later she brought it to the school administrators.

THEY called the police, and mainly for the same reason - to elicit a confession that the clock was a prop-bomb.

It would have been much wiser, when there is no student announced hoax or attempt to confuse or pass off the device as a bomb, to use some discretion.

Discipline for class disruption, clock taken for rest of year, instruction to limit projects to dedicated classes or at home. Kid loses free time, and if a stunt, is disappointed in the severest way - no PR angle.
