Bill Clinton, in 2000: I Fear Hillary's Discomfort With Gay People Might Hurt Her Political Career

"I think she's a little put off by... some of this stuff."

The Free Beacon unearths an old audio done by a Clinton friend named Taylor Branch who did a bunch of interviews with Clinton in 2000 for an oral history of the White House.

According to Branch, Bill relayed this about his wife:

"[Bill] said, 'Generally I support the gay agenda right down the line,'" said Branch. "He said this was hard for me, and I’m sure there are still a few things that are hard for me to swallow."

However, he told Branch, "Hillary, emotionally speaking, still finds the issue harder to swallow than I do. And that it could be difficult for her in New York politics, how far she’ll be asked to go."

Branch added that Clinton was "essentially I think saying that Hillary had kind of a conservative religious temperament, and was not likely to be comfortable around gay people who were kind of acting out, or pushing her to the limit. She did have general discomfort."

Direct link to Branch's notes about his conversations with Bill Clinton here.

Clarified/Corrected: I added the important information that this is a recording of Branch relaying his conversations with Bill Clinton. I also corrected my claim that the Alana Goodman hadn't included Branch's first name; she did. My eyes just kept skipping over it. I was looking for it, but my eyes just kept skipping over it.

Shrillary loves lesbians - literally. It's gay people (i.e. homosexual men) she had problems with. No big surprise. Shrillary hates men, in general.

BTW, I was confused by what "gay people" meant, too. I thought that lesbians were considered "gay" but after seeing all the "Gay Lesbian blah blah blah" stuff I realized that lesbians must not be considered "gay" by the left.

44 Although I too savor the rich, heady brew of hypocrisy, I think its a fool's errand to expose the racist and "intolerant" acts of the Left in the hopes of alienating its base from its self appointed leaders.

The key is the raging Left hates traditional America so much that they don't care if Hillary! burns crosses in her spare time or donates to the Muslim Society for Tossing Gheys Off Buildings, so long as she will (publically, politically) "stick it to the man!" i.e. anyone who publically endorses traditional American values.

They have no souls and so private belief means nothing to them. Its 100% about delivering the public, political result.

Gennifer complimented Bill on his skills as a cunning linguist, and said how Hillary must not appreciate him enough, and Bill laughed and said, "Hillary has eaten more pussy than I have."

Gay men are jealous of lesbians because even the most mainstream movies have had woman-on-woman scenes in them for a long time ... and no one seems particularly bothered by it (to say the least), while pretty much everyone is totally repulsed by even the idea of gay male sex scenes. Now the Clintons are finding out that Obama promises to them are just as easily and cynically discarded as are Obama promises to voters or to Capitol Hill Republicans.

180 Gay men are jealous of lesbians because even the most mainstream movies have had woman-on-woman scenes in them for a long time ... and no one seems particularly bothered by it (to say the least), while pretty much everyone is totally repulsed by even the idea of gay male sex scenes. If Bareback Mountain had been Barebreasted Mountains a hell of a lot more than 6 tickets to it would have been sold.

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at September 21, 2015 03:11 PM (zc3Db)

"Barebreasted Mountains". Consider that shamelessly stolen.

It's definitely jealousy. I think it stems from women being competition for other men. Even the gays don't buy that "born that way" line, and they know that every woman is a competitor that has something to offer a man that they can't. For example, remember In Living Color's "Men on Film"? I happened to catch an old episode recently and LOL'ed at how hard-core it was, I can't believe it still is shown in today's climate. "Hated it!" was ALWAYS said toward anything woman-related. There's truth in humor.

I don't know why you say "easily". The DOMA was actually the Constitutional way to handle it as the Congress is charged with legislating as to which state issues should be accepted across all states.

Article. IV

Section. 1

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

The DOMA was exactly in keeping with that. The SCOTASS decision on the DOMA was a total friggin joke. Par for the course for them, but still a joke according to the clear language of the Constitution and Congress' actual responsibilities.

310 I don't know why you say "easily". The DOMA was actually the Constitutional way to handle it as the Congress is charged with legislating as to which state issues should be accepted across all states.

Article. IV

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair

If judges were brushing aside state laws regarding marriage over "equality" they were also going to do it with federal laws. That's why DOMA was passed, because judges were once again legislating from the bench.

Also, the Full Faith and Credit clause was going to override a federal law like that anyway.

Just would have been very hard for the SC to have over ridden an actual Constitutional Amendment (although it wouldn't surprise me if they tried)

DOMA had HUGE bipartisan majorities when it passed, Social Conservatives should have gone straight to a Constitutional Amendment.

Forget the idiocy of the SCOTASS and our laughable judiciary for the moment; there is no "overriding" of the Full Faith and Credit clause by such federal legislation since Congress is charged with fashioning such legislation specifically to implement the FF&Credit clause in particular cases.

333 I'm a little surprised Walker did so poorly.
Posted by: Nevergiveup at September 21, 2015 04:11 PM (gf8BH)

Walker wasn't ready. Most governors with presidential aspirations have time to prepare their campaigns, to refine and hone their message, to build their donor networks, to polish and practice their media handling and rhetorical skills. Walker was too busy defending his office against some of the most vicious Democrat tactics I've ever seen used.

Maybe next time.

Posted by: troyriser at September 21, 2015 04:25 PM (CMthJ)

334
Walker's comments on birth right citizenship, one way then the other, weren't a good sign.
He like every other conservative candidate is handicapped by the media. Self injury is usually therefore fatal. He also did not have the flash necessary to stand out on a 11 person forum, especially when the moderator is trying to avoid him.
We have a lot of regionally interesting candidates. No big names. Jeb is light weight princeling, and that'd be okay if he was running in the democratic primary, but it won't fly in republican primary. The party doesn't get that because all their political consultants are really democrats and that's how they think.Out of touch.

Posted by: McAdams at September 21, 2015 04:17 PM (Df7y6)

Also, the SCOTASS didn't find the power to force gay pretend marriage acceptance on the FF&C clause but on a laughable twisting of the 14th. The SCOTASS basically removed marriage from the States' purview and placed it squarely in the federal judiciary's power (just as they did with abortion). This is why Kim Davis was being jailed by a federal judge and not a state judge for a state marriage issue.
