McConnell Expects to Cut Budget Deal, Avert Shutdown

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that funding the government is his top priority when he returns to the Capitol next week. The Kentucky Republican said he would work with the White House to come up with budget levels to keep the government open past Sept. 30, conceding that President Barack Obama wont sign a measure with a rider defunding Planned Parenthood.

McConnell said, "The president has made it very clear hes not going to sign any bill that includes defunding of Planned Parenthood, so thats another issue that awaits a new president hopefully with a different point of view about Planned Parenthood."

McConnell then goes into the type of GOP presidential candidate he wants -- which tres suprise is a moderate that can win a purple state like Ohio.

58 Yes, there is no sense in trying to defund murder inc. if you are going to do it as standalone legislation that can either be filibustered or vetoed.

But if you tie it to something the Donks want more or can't be filibustered or vetoed without the Donks and president suffering politically then you could do it.

But apparently that's 3dimensional tactics that turtle and boehner can't manage.

Or there could be an alternative explanation as to way the Twin Titans of Fail keep on finding reasons and impediments to not end funding to murder inc.

60 I watched the "Hannibal" finale that I DVR'd last night.

Which makes me one of the 3 people who saw it.

Anywho, this season they mashed up the novels "Red Dragon" and "Hannibal".

Does anyone remember the big controversy surrounding the plot of "Hannibal" which was a bit like a horror mash-up of "Taming of the Shrew" and "Beauty and the Beast"-

because Hannibal, using psychological manipulation and drugs and her antipathies, turned Clarice Starling into his perfect murder partner and they went on a world tour?

Okay, so feminists and fans of the Clarice character howled bloody murder at her perversion.

But now in 2015 what with Gay Marriage and all- the finale had Hannibal -

converting Will Graham into his perfect love-partner by showing him the beauty of murder when they kill the Red Dragon together.

Then they fall into a passionate embrace and swoon over a high cliff into the sea far below presumably to their deaths.

However, a stinger at the end indicates that Hannibal or Will may still be alive-

or perhaps the both of them now united into the perfect SJW-approved Cannibal Hubbies(TM).

Make of that what you will.

Capitalism and fiscal conservatism:

ATT has struck a deal with the US government to get nearly $428 million per year to bring 10Mbps Internet service to parts of rural America after protesting that it shouldn't have to provide speeds that fast.

The money comes from the Connect America Fund, which draws from surcharges on Americans' phone bills. ATT will provide at least 10Mbps/1Mbps service to 1.1 million rural homes and businesses in 18 states in exchange for "$427,706,650 in annual, ongoing support from the Connect America Fund," yesterday's FCC announcement said.

ATT will get the money over six years with an option for a seventh, potentially bringing the total to about $3 billion,

The San Diego Union Tribune reports that the ship departed Monday morning after 11 years in San Diego. It is replacing the carrier George Washington, which is coming back to Virginia for a mid-life overhaul.

The Navy is relocating three of its nuclear-powered aircraft carriers to different home ports. The third, the Virginia-based aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, left in March for a nine-month deployment in the Middle East. When it returns it will take the Reagan's place in San Diego.

The George Washington became the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to be homeported in Japan in 2008.

That being said, if ATT is being forced to provide service and, I assume, run the cable to these houses (a hugely expensive proposition), at least they should be paid.

1. Southwest border still less secure than a typical suburban shopping mall.

2. Obamacare - fully funded

3. Executive Amnesty - fully funded.

4. IRS - No one involved in targeting conservative groups punished.

5. Planned Parenthood - fully funded.

6. Loretta Lynch - confirmed as Attorney General

7. National Debt - No Limit, Complete Blank Check to Obama.

8. Obamatrade - passed.

9. Sanctuary Cities - fully funded.

10. Banks gambling on derivatives with taxpayer money - approved.

110 The commanding officer of Navy Operational Support Center, Earle, New Jersey was relieved Aug. 27 for fostering a poor command climate.

Lt. Cmdr. Angela Cox, was removed from her command post by her boss, Capt. George Honeycutt, the reserve component commander of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, who lost confidence in her ability to command after an investigation uncovered problems.

Lt. Cmdr. Cox was relieved of duty after receipt of a fraud, waste and mismanagement complaint alleging acts of discrimination against sailors within her command, said Lt. Cmdr Kimberly Brubeck, spokeswoman for Navy Reserve Forces Command in Norfolk.

The complaint was validated and an [Equal Employment Opportunity] investigation determined that she was responsible for promulgating a poor command climate at NOSC Earle.

Cmdr. Emily Pulkam, executive officer of the Fort Dix, New Jersey, Navy facility will temporarily assume command until a replacement is found.

A spokeswoman did not immediately respond to questions Monday about where Cox has been reassigned and whether she faces further disciplinary action.

124 The Coming Conservative Crackup

Yet another one who doesn't get it.

Voting our consciences hasn't helped.
Supporting actual conservatives hasn't helped.

So now we're playing by *their* rules. They established them, and now we're playing by them, and they don't like it.

I do not support Trump because he's conservative. Only a fool would believe Trump is actually conservative. At best he's a weather vane who is going to ride populist sentiment to the White House. If he wants two terms, that means he's going to have to *keep* riding populist sentiment, and therefore will actually have to deliver (or been seen as trying to deliver) on his promises.

But I don't even support Trump because he's a populist weather vane who might actually do things I like (even if for the wrong reasons).

No, I support Trump because he's a thumb in the eye of Yertle and Weeping Boner, and he makes the DOPe sh*t themselves. THAT is why I support Donald Trump.

Congratulations, Republican establishment, you've pissed off the base (or large portions of it) enough that we'll support a known liberal over your supported candidates. Well done. Well. Done.

161 Okay, HR and CBD have pointed out "support" is too strong a word at this point.

"Am enjoying the spectacle of."

But the race is thinning itself out as to those for whom I will vote very quickly.

I'll never vote for Jeb - that includes in the General. Same with Kasich and Christie.

The likelihood is that I'll never get a chance to vote for Jindal, but he would make the list of possibilities if he were still in it when the TX primary is held.

I could vote for Cruz or Fiorina (I like Fiorina for sticking her thumb in Hillary!'s eye *almost* as much as I like Trump for sticking his in the DOPe's eye).

I could easily vote for Walker or Carson in the general, but probably not in the primary (unless they were the last ones against Jeb).

I'm not sold on Luap Dnar even in the general. I'm not as against him as I am Jeb, Kasich, or Christie, but he's said some things that are very problematic in the past, and (being honest) I'm not sure how far that particular apple has fallen from Daddy's tree. That's not fair, true, but it's a concern I have anyway.

Which means there's definitely a non-zero chance that I'll find myself voting for Trump even in the primary.

Taylor Swift Is Taking Over Music Videos by Richard Cromwell and Nicole Russell

It seems unusual for one pop star to make such epic videos with what seem to be warring ideals: One about the independent, fierce, loyal friend and the other about the romantic, sexy, disappointed lover. But this very irony, these seemingly clashing dynamics, is why her fans love her. Havent we all been, at one time or another, the friend and the enemy, loyal and disloyal, the romantic and the realist, the lover and the one who remains jilted?.. the dichotomy of Swift hits us with full authenticity. As such, its no wonder shes taking over pop music and her music videos are, too.

Richard Cromwell and Nicole Russell are senior contributors to The Federalist. They are also 12 years old.

Are you aware that there's maybe a Nazi booty train in a cavern under Poland? Well, there is (maybe). People claim to have found it and now there's a big tizzy about how to investigate it. Does it have art, gold, armaments, booby traps?

Well, whatever it has Russia wants in on it. They want a Russian on site when it's opened and if there's anything there...

"If the treasure originated in the territory of the former USSR then in accordance with international law the freight must be turned over to Russia".

Poland sees it differently.

Over 700 Cuban doctors working in Venezuela have fled across to Colombia

Deteriorating conditions in Venezuela are causing increasing numbers of Cuban medical personnel working there to immigrate to the United States under a special US program launched in 2006 that expedites their applications.

For geographical reasons, neighboring Colombia is a favored gateway for Cubans fleeing Venezuela, who's a populist government, is struggling to rein-in runaway inflation, widespread shortages of goods and services and rising social unrest.

Kurt Schlichter had a column this weekend calling Trump supporters fools
and idiots; which is the level of tact and smart political operating we
have come to expect from the GOP-E
===============
You have to remember that Kurt wrote a book that was "Hillary is elected and then the miracle happens and then the whole country wakes up to how evil Democrats and their leftist policies are. Then 20 years later America is a conservative paradise."

Yeah, a conservative long march through the institutions dream. He actually believes the Republican Party has people who will be as ruthless and determined in conservative policies as the leftists are.

And it was chock-full of those "libertarian" compromises we're always promised will win over the nation.

You know, "social issue truce."

We're talking about a guy who really thinks gay marriage was just about marriage. He just can't see that these leftist advances are not temporary, cannot be rolled back by a simple vote--they are fucking playing for keeps and mean the make their policies permanent.

A lot of his ideas are as realistic and naive as "and then Congress, by a super-majority, voted to eliminate Social Security, declaring all government-funded retirement plans dead and gone."

Technically, he is a border governor. Lots of Cuban and Haitian refugees show up in Florida, usually on some home made raft. And since the gov. declared that they could stay once they made it onto the beach or were picked up by Coast Guard, there you go.

Had relatives who owned a beach front condo and saw more than their share of floaters coming ashore.

So now that we have "normalized" relations with Cuba, are these floating folks still refugees with preferred status or are they run of the mill illegals?

I'll stick up for Schlicter (sp?). He's not DOPe. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a lurker 'Ron.

I just don't think he realizes that our rage is, and has been, quite articulate, and that we're past the point of articulating. The DOPe declared war on Conservatives - Yertle's latest about "oh, maybe we can defund Planned Parenthood in 2017" is just the latest symptom.

Listen, Kurt (if you are, indeed, a lurker), we haven't given up on the Republican Party. The Republican Party has given up on us.

Would we like a true conservative in the White House? Really... meh. Whoever is there next is going to have to deal with a real sh*t storm, so there's some advantage to having someone less conservative to suffer those slings and arrows. But, yes, all-in-all we'd prefer someone who is really Conservative.

But you know and I know that's not what was going to happen. All the money was going to Jeb!. The MFM was all in the tank for a Jeb! candidacy (note I did not say "Presidency."). One by one the lesser candidates were going to be destroyed. That was the plan, at any rate.

Then here comes Trump. Trump who can't be shamed - he has none. Trump who can't be bought - he's already richer than you, just ask and he'll tell you. Trump who can't be made to shut up. Trump who has made a career for *years* on "F*ck you."

Whatever else happens, Trump is good for Conservatives. Not because he's conservative - he isn't - but because he can demolish, or at least weaken, the DOPe hold on the party itself.

247 Kurt is still "work within the system, guys."

And we're all, "are you fucking retarded? The system that hasn't stopped a single Democrat policy (outside of gun control) in the last 10 years? The system that was more ruthless in attacking the Tea Party than the Democrats? The system that promised they'd deliver if we just worked with them? No! Fuck that noise! Fuck this game, fuck this system!"

I really liked it and it keeps getting better. Dont like when they try to do the moral equivalence shit. As to civilians getting killed - if you are going to party with known assassins, you put yourself at risk. There's a documentary based on the Bowden book you can watch on the internet for free which I highly recommend.

Also, the acting is great in Narcos. Really outstanding job by all of them.

251 Yeah, a conservative long march through the institutions dream. He actually believes the Republican Party has people who will be as ruthless and determined in conservative policies as the leftists are.

That comment above needs to be paired with this comment below to get the advantage of Trump

Whatever else happens, Trump is good for Conservatives. Not because he's conservative - he isn't - but because he can demolish, or at least weaken, the DOPe hold on the party itself.

Of course the video of the President and agents being chased by an enraged Kodiak would be more funny if set to 'Yakkity-Sax.'

*snort*

There's few things in this world funnier and more satisfying that being a jaded infantry Spec4 watching an outraged momma moose chasing a new West Pointer butterbar through the woods while on a land nav course.

254 So, Heather, are you going to be allowed to work there? Or are you going
to be a hausfrau? Dont knock it. It would be fun learning a language
and fuuking off for a while in a foreign country.

I will apply for permission to work but I won't be terribly sad if it takes a year or so to find a decent job.

they believe they are on the right side of history. You know, the one that justifies murder, oppression, starvation, misery, slavery, torture, rape, destruction of societies and families, death camps and political prisons.
