Quote of the Day I

The tragedy for Hillary Clinton is that she is all too human. As Bill's mortal sidekick, she's had a good ride. But whereas Bill has an almost Jedi-like ability to lie convincingly - "these aren't the interns you're looking for" - Hillary has no superpowers to fall back on. She just has to grind it out. Like Syndrome in The Incredibles or the entire cast of Kick-Ass, she has to compensate for a lack of raw superpowers through guile and technology - and minions, lots and lots of minions. They do her dirty work for her. They burrow into the bureaucracy and cover for her. They get appointed to commissions and erect firewalls against accountability. They tell her what she wants to hear and explain how all bad news is someone else's fault. They scrub the paper trail. They even shove classified evidence in their pants, if that is what is required. As Renfield to her huband's Dracula, Otis to his Lex Luthor, Gogo Yubari to his O-Ren Ishii , Alistair Smythe to his Kingpin, Tom Hagen to his Don Corleone, Bizarro World Radar O'Reilly to his evil Colonel Potter, she has amassed considerable resources and abilities of her own. There's now an entire Clinton-Industrial Complex that fuels and funds the vast interconnected network of minions. They are like agents of Hydra, embedded in the media, in government, and in academia. Places like Media Matters are like huge industrial farms for breeding Clintonian hacks where the larvae are grown in vats.

...But the problem remains; Hillary is not the charismatic leader her husband is, or was. She's good at cleaning up the loose ends of her husband's lies, but she's not the person you want out front laying down the lies in the first place. His superpowers did not rub off on her, and to assume they did is to confuse the elephant for the guy sweeping up behind it.

The thing is, Hillary's been riding shotgun on all those hairpin turns with Bill behind the wheel for so long she thinks she can do what he does. She can't. It's understandable, of course. The great ones always make it look easy.

-- Jonah Goldberg

Quote of the Day II

We judge whether we have a bias by examining our thoughts, and because we believe our thoughts are rational, we often think we're not biased when we are. Psychologists call this contradiction the "bias blind spot." Although we're quick to see biases in others, we have more trouble noticing them in ourselves.

And the more we convince ourselves that we don't have certain biases, the more likely we are to exhibit them. If we believe we're good people, for example, we may stop trying to be better and may be more likely to act indecently. Similarly, if we think we're smart, we might skip studying for a test and give ignorant answers. In general, if we believe we're unbiased, we're giving ourselves permission to be biased.

-- Jim Davies in Why You're Biased About Being Biased

Quote of the Day III

Here is the first rule of "mainstream" news coverage in America: Whenever the prejudices and illusions of left-wingers are confirmed by an individual incident, the incident is treated as representative; when those prejudices and illusions are contradicted, the incident is considered an aberration - and treating it as representative is deemed hateful.

-- Andrew Klavan

Quote of the Day IV

I mean, for the love of God: it has celebrities there. How many of those people have functional life skills outside of the ability to carry a tune or play a musical instrument? And by 'functional life skills' I mean 'iron clothes,' 'balance a checkbook,' or 'walk past a bar without drinking it*.'  Don't get me wrong: musical celebrities are often fun to hear. Just don't listen to them.

The WFB Politifacts Donald Trump's Claim That Carlos Danger Is a 'Sleazebag Perv'

Trump's suggestion that Anthony Weiner is a "perv" is certainly supported by the facts. However, the additional claim that Weiner is "one of the great sleaze bags of our time" is difficult to verify. Given the sheer magnitude of the sleaze bag population on the planet, we are not comfortable making a definitive judgment at this time.

We rate this claim "Mostly True."

EPA Fines Farmer $16 Million For Building a Pond

Even though the EPA has no jurisdiction over non-navigable waters and stock ponds are exempt from the CWA.

Even though the Clean Water Act exempts stock ponds, and Mr. Johnson had obtained the necessary state permits, the EPA ordered him in January 2014 to restore the area to its original condition or accumulate fines of $37,500 a day. Instead, Mr. Johnson hired a lawyer.

"The EPA is out to expand its power, and I'm a test case," said Mr. Johnson in a statement. "We're going to fight them all the way."

Last week, his attorneys - including the Pacific Legal Foundation and the Budd-Falen law firm in Cheyenne - filed a lawsuit against the agency to stop it from enforcing the compliance order.

Rand Paul: Extreme Border Hawk...Well By Libertarian Standards That Is

"There have been a lot of dumb ideas put out," Paul said, speaking with Boston Herald Radio. "One that the Mexicans will pay for a wall, [which] was probably the dumbest of dumb ideas. But putting a wall up between us and Canada is sort of a ridiculous notion. It is sort of like everybody is now competing to say, 'Oh no, I'll put them in camps. Oh no, I'll throw them out. Oh no, I'll put everyone in jail. And I'll have an electric fence, and I'll do this.' And it's like, you know, the biggest thing we need to do is have a functioning immigration system, with a good work program."

Bookworm: Why Science Is Crying Out For a Reformation

And then it struck me. The trajectory of the modern church matches with eerie precision the trajectory of modern science. In its early years, when it was separate from government, the Christian church was a remarkably pure institution, devoted to developing each individual's relationship with Jesus Christ. There were different ideas and approaches floated, as well as battles within the Church (think of the gnostic heresy), but the faithful and their clergy were remarkably untainted by worldly considerations.

...The early church was attractive because it promised relief from the darkness of paganism, with its human sacrifice and the many rules it had, rules that obscured the fact that paganism generally lacked underlying and, if you'll pardon me for the word play, overarching moral principles. In the same way, science, from the Enlightenment through the mid-20th century, promised relief from the darkness of Hippocrates's and Galen's ideas about the four humours and the crazy (and often terribly painful or dangerous) medical ideas that flowed from the Ancient Greeks' approach to medicine.

In the case of both institutions - that is, the medieval Catholic Church and science - as they gained popularity, they attracted the attention of power and money. Royalty tried to integrate the church into its power structure (and, in the case of Henry VIII, succeeded magnificently), while the wealthy plied churches, monasteries, and nunneries with money in an effort to preserve their immortal souls. The result was that the medieval church became fabulously wealthy and began to devote its time to managing money, not shepherding men's souls, while too many churchmen were unable to resist the earthly temptations that came with wealth and power.

F-35 To Face Off Against A-10 In CAS Test

Lara Seligman from Defense News reports that the capabilities of the Joint Strike Fighter are to be evaluated for close-air support (CAS) missions. She writes, "To gauge the joint strike fighter's ability to perform in a close-air support role, the Pentagon's top weapons tester has declared the sleek new fighter jet must face off against the lumbering A-10. The Pentagon's Office of Operational Test and Evaluation plans to pit the full-up F-35 against the legacy A-10 Warthog and potentially other fighter jets to evaluate the next-generation aircraft's ability to protect soldiers on the ground."

Note that lumbering actually is a compliment when it comes to CAS since it means a longer loiter time.

33 In case you're looking for a good movie to watch, here's a repost from early today:

Saw "No Escape" this weekend.

Wow! What a great thriller. Very, very intense.

Great acting. Great script. Excellent direction.

The plot involves an American family, whose father has just taken a new job in an unnamed SE Asian country for an international company and is almost immediately caught up in a violent revolution.

The revolutionaries are executing citizens and foreigners in the street. He needs to get his family to safety.

The action stays grounded in reality and it makes it that much more intense. This guy isn't a superhero. He just an engineer figuring the best options in a lousy situation as the movie goes along.

Seriously, this is the best action movie so far this year.

The bad reviews it's been getting have come from social justice wankers who have their garters in a wad because violent 4th world revolutionaries never ever are violent and would never ever kill foreign citizens apparently.

Ignore the bad reviews and go for an excellent time at the movies.

Check it out.

He was figuring over a couple of years. There are ca. 30,000 firearms-related homicides per year. Most of those (ca. 20,000) are suicides (i.e., not relevant to the issue at hand). Of the remaining 10,000 homicides (i.e., mostly murders, but some accidents), the considerable majority are due to our friends in the inner cities.

111 There is nothing tragic about Hillary Clinton.

Tragedy would presume that a virtuous person made a tragically bad choice that changed the nature of his/her life for the worse.

She's been a ruthless liar and manipulator most of her adult life. A self-proclaimed disciple of Alinsky. She was thrown off the Watergate investigation by fellow Democrats for unethical behavior.
Married Bill Clinton, and tolerated his philandering during their entire marriage. Helped cover up the rape of Juanita Broderick. Lied about how she made money on cattle futures. Let her so-called friends take the fall for the busted up Whitewater real estate venture.

And that's all before Bill was elected President.

Bill has been and still is a pathological liar. He is a sociopath, and a sexual predator. There is nothing charming or rogue-ish about him. He is not some kind of talented liar. He hurts people intentionally by his self-obsessed sociopathic behavior.

That is an interesting thing I've been thinking about lately. I just don't think RG3 and Manziel are built for football in the NFL. Physically or mentally. Maybe Manziel can turn it around but he got hurt after not much playing time last year so his tricks that he did in college aren't going to let him escape those punishing hits. But Griffin certainly seems to be a bust. Now to compare them to Tebow, I think they are better QBs but he's a much bigger body and has seemed like he could handle the hits in the NFL longer than they could.

With the 2012 1st rounder, they could have chosen an OL or DL, used the 2nd on Russell Wilson, and used the 13 & 14 1st rounders on other areas of need.

Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That at August 31, 2015 11:42 PM (x3GpS)

195 That is an interesting thing I've been thinking about lately.
Posted by: buzzion at August 31, 2015 11:21 PM (zt+N6)

Rg3's problem is that he never does the little things needed to be a good NFL QB.

He didn't know how to slide to avoid hits when he got to the NFL. After 4 offseasons/minicamps/training camps, he still hasn't learned how to slide. Something almost every other NFL QB learned playing little league baseball.

He can't read defenses for shit. He can't see where the pressure will come from, and he has no idea where the open receiver is when he reads the D. On the play he was injured this preseason, instead of seeing the 3 wide open receivers, he decided his instinct to run was the best move, it wasn't.

Everyone says that the Redskins didn't "tailor" their offence to him. Bullshit. They did the first season and it got him a concussion, a sprained knee, and a torn ACL. Then he decided he didn't want to run the Read-Option, so Shanahan had to scrap that and go back to an offense that RG3 couldn't run.

Shanahan gets fired and Gruden comes in to make RG3 a QB, RG3 gets injured in his 2nd game. So the whole idea of building an offense around his "skills" means that the team is screwed if he gets injured. Instead of building an offense that takes into account the 23 or so players on offense, you build it around 1. It is the NFL, players get hurt, so you can't build the offense around 1 player.

204 Re F-35 vs. A-10, I think that the outcome will depend, of course, on the rules.

If the scenario posits CAS in a heavy, modern AD environment, speed may indeed be life and the F-35 may fare better. Although something like 80% of aircraft in Vietnam were brought down by AAA vice SAMs, and the Hog can certainly absorb hits better than Lockheed's entry.

But the A-10 is also a pretty big radar target for a modern SAM. Not to say that an F-35 won't make a big signature with all external stores hanging. If the scenario is medium altitude, F-35 may have advantage. Low altitude may favor the Hog.

Offensively, the F-35 should be able to hit the target on the first pass. On the other hand, loiter time + 30mm may convey advantage to A-10.

229 F-35 vs A 10.... F35 will cost about 4 x the amount to fly per hour, and take almost 10 x the amount of ground maintenance per flight hour...

Meaning, you could have 4 A-10s, for the cost, and have them fly about 90% more hours.... each...

So you are about.... oh.... 90% more likely to have the A-10 in the Air, on Target, when you actually need it for Tac Air...

Posted by: Misanthropic Humanitarian at August 31, 2015 11:29 PM (vM+YG)

Shanahan didn't really want him and didn't think he was an NFL QB, but Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen thought he was going to be a big draw.

Shanahan wanted Russell Wilson.

RG3's problem was that he was buddies with Dan Snyder. Hanging out with him and going over the coach's head to him, and that is a huge no-no. If a coach tells a player to do something, and all the player has to do to veto it is to go to the owner, it never ends well.

Rand isn't going anywhere, but that a high-profile (and obviously one of the more intelligent) public figure can say such idiotic things about a ginormous national problem should pretty much relieve everyone of any remaining hope they have for a serious country (if they had any left). Would be nice to see someone like Paul humiliated by a real interviewer knocking down his NPR-level crap and forcing him to choose whether rule of law matters or not.

Earlier today we had some Beltway lightweights here peddling the nonsense about "40% of illegals are visa over-stays". OK, how is *any* part of that calculation derived? What's the numerator based on? What's the denominator (total illegal population) and what the hell is THAT based on?

Yep, I'm sure those school districts being overwhelmed by illegal spawn, those public assistance systems groaning with benefits to illegals, those closed emergency rooms, those CA prisons over-crowded by exactly the proportion of non-citizen inmates, those major uban outstanding felony warrant lists with mostly illegals on them, those gang wars, those human trafficking operations, those CA DMV offices for illegals, the AZ highway you are advised not to drive near the unprotected border, the lawless situations developing on the most basic level in parts of CA's central valley and parts of AZ and TX, the little burgh of Hazelton PA, formerly "bohunk" and now half Hispanic - all this is the result of "visa over-stayers".

The idiotic self-detonating myths barfed up by the cretinous/complicit (the two possibilities) about illegal migration are even more audacious than the crap spewedabout the involuntarily financially uninsured for the health care "crisis" that didn't exist. But why not? The country - collectively, counting the institutions, which formerly were guard-rails - has laid down for everything else.

Many of our systems were in fact much better than the enemy's by the end of the war. Obviously, Japan. Aside from the night-time surface engagement capability of the IJN (incl. long-range torpedo warfare), which was gone years before the end of the war, can't think of a single thing (down to the bayonets and boots) on the US side that wasn't clearly superior to everything Japan had to offer.

Germany might be a more mixed bag.

None of which negates BB's point that mass overwhelmed the Axis. It did (all fronts). It's just that the Allies had plenty of good and many superior systems field by the end as part of that "mass".

Almost can't force myself to look at the message y'all are discussing about the days after Benghazi.

Not that there is much more than a blur now, all of it surreal and all of it infuriating, but in the last six years the whole Benghazi thing, every aspect of it, stands out as vile and revealing. Revealing of a fundamentally unserious country, and one not worthy of respect. It wasn't just the foul, dim, alien creatures that populate the administration that did this, it was the whole Beltway and the whole country that basically just didn't care.

Don't see any presidential personality, mainstream or rebel, who could change any of this. Or any party, extant or reformed or "new". The unwritten rules and standards are always the most important, and in US public life those are just gone. Without them, the place is unrecognizable.

363 Ah, I remember what brought it up. Someone was asking about this story (below) of an F-18 pilot getting all cocky about his speed, trying to impress private aviation types by asking ATC to call out his ground speed.
---
One day, high above Arizona , we were monitoring the radio traffic
of all the mortal airplanes below us. First, a Cessna pilot asked the
air traffic controllers to check his ground speed. 'Ninety knots,' ATC
replied. A twin Bonanza soon made the same request. 'One-twenty on the
ground,' was the reply. To our surprise, a navy F-18 came over the radio
with a ground speed check. I knew exactly what he was doing. Of course,
he had a ground speed indicator in his cockpit, but he wanted to let
all the bug-smashers in the valley know what real speed was 'Dusty 52,
we show you at 620 on the ground,' ATC responded. The situation was too
ripe. I heard the click of Walter's mike button in the rear seat. In his
most innocent voice, Walter startled the controller by asking for a
ground speed check from 81,000 feet, clearly above controlled airspace.
In a cool, professional voice, the controller replied, ' Aspen 20, I
show you at 1,982 knots on the ground.' We did not hear another transmission on that frequency all the way to the coast.

That's about as much snow as I get in a typical winter at home in Alberta. Of course, the shit drifts. Bare ground one place, three feet a few paces away. And it rarely lasts all Winter. Chinooks blow through periodically and melt most of it off. What doesn't melt turns to concrete.

Common saying in Canada: "I'm gonna strap a snow shovel to the roof of my car, and drive South. When I hear somebody ask, 'What's that thang?', I'll know I've gone far enough."

torque, would that Jap mortar (and as you know, don't put it on your knee!) be matched by US rifle grenades? Or much longer range?

Not sure how valuable that short-range mortar was or would have been if home islands invasion had been required. I know it caused damage in some of the more static/terrain-driven engagements on the Pacific islands.

Come to think of it, the curator just brought one out for display, I'll check it out tomorrow (my volunteer day). Can't recall if he put much explanatory info out for it.

I'm sure you would love it. They are very comfortable. You can't get a full-sized station wagon anymore, but Suburbans have taken over that niche. I'm not any kind of General Motors fanboi, and would not want to buy a new GM of any kind, because of the way Obama screwed it up, but to give the Devil his due, they build a fine big SUV that gets its riders around in comfort and style.

The knee mortar was to the Imperial Japanese Army light infantry what the Long Lance was to the Imperial Japanese Navy: a specialized weapon unknown to adversaries at the outset of the war, which the Japanese had trained with until they were really damned good with the things.

Infantrymen traditionally hate mortars for their habit of showing up darn near everywhere and then dropping fire on them out of the blue with next to no warning. But to pull that trick reliably, to have a mortarman who can get a round in the basket on the first shot without ranging fire, requires those mortarmen to be really well practiced. The Japanese were.

But seeing as I don't plan to be here for extended periods during the summers, the cost of A/C is negligible. I have ONE $125 WalMart window-shaker running its guts out now, and it has been for a week. When I shut it down at the end of this week, I doubt it will have consumed more than $20 worth of electric power. But money well-spent, in any case.

416 Well good night all. Made some progress writing. Here is the opening for the sequel to whet the appetite of my fans demanding more.

"Make haste Ptolemy!"

Slim beautiful Artacama stood guard at the mausoleum's entrance, fearful that the guards her estranged husband had placed would discover them in the act. Behind her, Ptolemy and his helpers struggle in a darkness barely relived by two torches. Suddenly there is a grating sound of stone moving against stone. She prays to the supreme god of her native land Ahuramazda and also chief god of this land Amun-Ra for protection while also asking Anubis to understand what has to be done.

Behind her there is another more solid sounding thud as the covering stone contacts the stone floor and makes the whole room tremble. Her hand clutches at the door lintel as she strains to hear anything. The sound of boots slapping pavement and the jingle of armor is what Artacama fears. Instead she hears nothing except Ptolemy's men and her own rapidly beating heart, it seems her prayers are being heard.

"Do we take it all with us?"

Artacama turns and stops in awe. Alexander of Macedon's linen wrapped body is laying on the floor but it is all the gold gleaming in the flickering torchlight that threatens to mesmerize her. The quantity and variety of treasure is staggering, but she also remembers who did this. Her husband, gripped with a desire to make his own empire by stealing Alexander's body, had done this profanity. "No, only Lord Alexander's body. He deserves his wishes to be honored. Put everything else back in the sarcophagus and close it up again."

Yep. Different strokes for different folks. To me, the heat is an exotic challenge to be met with some degree of vigor. You know, I have been spending the last few days tinkering on an old car ( Triumph TR6) in the driveway here in AJ. Stop every five minutes or so to wipe the sweat from my brow, and down a slug of cold water (or other cold beverage). Back home in Alberta, I'd be sweating just as much this time of year, but the thermometer would be reading 85 instead of 105. Difference in comfort level? Negligible.

Thanks for catching the misspelling.

Artacama was a Persian princess that Alexander had Ptolemy, later the founder of the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt, marry at Susa. And then she simply drops out of the history books. Using creative license to set the stage for the sequel novel with her. And the Ptolemy she is talking to, is Ptolemy's eldest son who later had to flee when his father abdicated the throne for a younger son.

[photo of lunatic dressed like dog]

"Otherkin or therian dogs -- people who believe they actually are dogs. In this chaotic setting it wasn't easy to discern which attendees actually took their dog roles seriously, but some certainly seemed to. The "otherkin" community comprises people who identify as nonhuman (often fictional) creatures, whereas "therian" is an otherkin subset of people who identify as real-world animals; "dogkin" is a rarely used term to refer to therians who think they are, in factual reality, dogs. OK. Now I know the back story. Ptolemy, of the Greek Pts. Went to Yellowknife, NWT, one time for a little geology work. Back then, Ptarmigan Airways was a big charter outfit flying out of Yellowknife. Some wag had spray-painted a tumble-down log cabin on the road to the airport: "Ptarmigan Pterminal". That really appealed to my (admittedly twisted) sense of humor.

When someone thinks they are something either entirely fictional (dragons, elves, etc.) or basically nontangible (galaxies, colors), there's something almost poetic to their madness; it;'s so far "out there," that these "otherkin" can almost be excused because they are entirely divorced from reality. But when someone thinks they're a chicken or a dog (i.e. a "therian," it's really really trivial and embarrassing, because their madness doesn't even have any imagination to it.

OK, I finally got around to watching your otherkin video. Holy cow! The funniest line is when she (the crazy girl who identifies as a wolf) says she would never use real fur to make her snap-on wolf tail, "because that's just wrong" -- i.e. to kill and animal for its fur.

Uhhh -- hello? What do you think wolves do all day long? They kill and eat furry animals. If you are a wolf, dearie, then you've got to face the fact that you are a carnivorous pitiless eating machine.

Comical in the extreme.

"Oh that's very serious why don't you lie down on the couch and we'll get started."

"Oh no I'm not allowed on the couch."

After a few session the man comes in and "Doctor I think I'm cured!"

"Oh, that's very good news."

"Yeah I'm all better. Feel my nose!"

449 443 I know, Hat.
I'm sitting here chatting with SMFH, telling her that I've tried to explain the horrors to people IRL (Mom, sisters, neighbor), but they don't believe that this crap is real.

They can't fathom a world where that stuff is not only tolerated, but celebrated. It simply can't be real... I don't have the stomach (or heart) to show them proof.

But then, if she really were a wolf, she'd have to problem killing a rabbit and eating it raw...

Ph.D. length? My real Ph.D. Dissertation was far longer.

But it does raise the important question: What does the Left mean when they use certain words?

"Democracy" as we and most Americans understand it is different than the "democracy" that most people understand.

It is this playing "Humpy Dumpty" that has allowed them to gain power silently...

Originally, "otherkin" exclusively referred to people who identified as fictional, mythological, cartoon, nontangible or "other" non-real identities, while "therian" was reserved for people who identified as real-world species. But so many young trend-hoppers have recently classified themselves as "otherkin" even though they think they are wolves or eagles or whatever that the definition is changing right before our eyes; now "otherkin" is starting to mean "anything non-human," and therian is merely a subset of otherkin, rather than an entirely different category.

I mention this because the lesbian in your post thinks she's a cat but still calls herself "otherkin."

If enough people are wrong, they become right!

I hesitate to call it full on insanity, because that would see them actually acting like the creatures in question - i.e. no higher order functions. If they truly believed themselves to be the creatures in question, then they would be unable to care for themselves in modern society. They're play-acting, despite their insistance otherwise. The problem is that they apparently refuse to admit that they're play-acting, and get offended when others refuse to play along with them.

I thought he was actually a pretty talented songwriter. I don't think he would be the kind of person to show up at these fetish events, frankly. He's more likely to make an appearance at the "washed-up post-punk musicians parade" than at a street fair for deranged masochists.

Here's the latest update from the band's web site:

"Pansy Division‘s newest album, titled That’s So Gay, is raucous and raunchy as well as being serious-minded. With some of their catchiest and most rocking songs ever, Pansy Division stand out among the 2009 crop--they're not morose folkies, electro cash-ins, or fashion victims. They're loads of fun without being ironic or cynical. Vice Magazine will hate it.

That’s So Gay was released in late March 2009. A documentary film about the band, Pansy Division: Life In A Gay Rock Band, played film festivals throughout 2008, and came out on DVD (with a bonus live DVD) at the same time. Also, Jon’s book Deflowered: My Life In Pansy Division, a memoir of Pansy Division stories and experiences, was released March 1, 2009. In addition, a 7” single of the song “Average Men” was released containing a new non-album track (a cover of a Green Day's "Coming Clean").

After touring in the summer and fall of 2009, things have been quiet on the PD front, playing the occasional gig now and then. "

He's probably retired and aimless since 2009.

A married couple had been having difficulties in their relationship about "being spontaneous". They arranged to meet with a therapist once a week. The therapist made it clear that they should let themselves take advantage of favorable circumstances whenever and wherever they might occur.

At their twelfth weekly meeting, the couple talked about an incident from the prior week. They described how the wife had been checking out some chicken patties in the freezer, and the husband had seen her bent over, given himself over to temptation, seized the opportunity, ripped aside her clothing and they'd had glorious sex right there.

The therapist allowed that this showed signs of excellent progress and that every sign of success was at hand, whereupon the couple replied, "not quite -- there's still the lifetime ban at Kroger's...."

As for writing that sucks, when my editor handed Golden Isis back; I curled up in a ball for about two weeks over how many bleeding commas and apostrophes were added, which makes me chuckle over the accusation of not having an editor. Then got serious on fixing and tinkering. And what you are reading is the result.

And remember, you can not ever please everyone. Someone is going to be a Negative Nelly even if you wrote War and Peace of which they will complain it is too long.

536 Today's whiteboard signs-

Over 20,000 attended an interracial unity "All Lives Matter" rally in Birmingham, AL on August 28th. Did the media report on it? Not much, because most media is the tool of the corrupt and divisive government.

(So big I had to put it on two signs.)

542 I would like Oregon Muse to devote a large portion of the Sunday book thread sometime to books published by the horde. I can't track of the names of everyone's books.

543 The warthog is "lumbering?"

I can't find the data, but I'd bet that the Hog will completely and totally outmaneuver the "Lightning" at 300 - 400kts.

I've seen Hogs pull turns that looked like they were 90 degrees. I realize that this was an illusion, and that the turn had a radius, but it happened so fast - I've never seen anything like it in any other aircraft.

The cruciform layout isn't an accident. The wing loading isn't an accident. The Hog might not be an interceptor, but "lumbering?"

No way.

544 Hey everybody.

Well, literally 30 years after I first bought it and 25-odd years after I sold it, I finally just tonight used Amazon Music to digitally reassemble an LP I've been waiting since 1988 to be reissued on CD, but never was.

The album in question was/is "My Ever Changing Moods," by the Style Council. Paul Weller was and is a stalinist piece of shit, but damn the guy can write and perform an incredible tune. (And, *every single* of the 12 songs on it is actually in a different musical style, from early rap to disco to late-night lounge.)
