Even those of us who are not supporters of either Donald Trump or Jeb Bush can learn something by comparing how each of these men handled people who tried to disrupt their question-and-answer period after a speech.
After Bush's speech, hecklers from a group called "Black Lives Matter" caused Bush to simply leave the scene. When Trump opened his question-and-answer period by pointing to someone in the audience who had a question, a Hispanic immigration activist who had not been called on simply stood up and started haranguing.
Trump told the activist to sit down because someone else had been called on. But the harangue continued, until a security guard escorted the disrupter out of the room. And Jeb Bush later criticized Trump for having the disrupter removed!
What kind of president would someone make who caves in to those who act as if what they want automatically overrides other people's rights -- that the rules don't apply to them?

Our Army is about to be at pre WW2 levels, even with 2.5 times the population... and during a declared 'State of Emergency'.
Our Navy is also at Pre WW2 levels... and we have more Admirals than combatant ships. The only ships we seem to be building, are Littorals, which have no real weapons, and can't sustain battle damage.
Our Air Force not only have very few Aircraft, but our topline fighter, the F-22 needs 35 hours of Maintenance, for every hour it flies, so even training flights are very limited. The F-35 is so far behind schedule it is laughable.
THIS Congress, and THIS President, have weakened our Armed Forces to the point we DO have to worry about being attacked IMO.

the Constitution, as written, was a pretty good document.... which we then screwed up.
The Senate was designed to be the voice of the States... not the voice of the people OF those States.... that was changed by Constitutional amendment in the early 1900s.
The other REAL check on Federal Power, was the limitation of Taxes, which was also changed in the early 1900s.
Add in that the Supreme Court gave ITSELF the power to be the final Arbitrator of the constitution itself.... ie the only check on Federal Power is appointed by, and is part of, the Federal Government....
And you have where we are today... where the simple wording of the Constitution is constantly ignored.

If you really want to point at the failure of the Constitution, it was with the Judicial Branch. That is where our country really went off the rails starting with Earl Warren, and even the earliest Founders like Thomas Jefferson had major issues with it and saw the problems from the very beginning.
Liberals figured out the game early, while we were saying judges should be only umpires, their side decided it was simply another activist branch of government.
We should have been advocating conservative activist judges instead of judicial restraint as the model.

I go back and forth on it. Lately I'm of a mind that it wasn't very good.
The Bill of Rights is the good part, and it was only added because Jefferson and others saw how bad the original document was.
1) It gave us the supreme court, which has been a disaster since inception.
2) They made it too hard to replace the president.
3) Why is the president -one man - coequal to the legislature?
The drift to a powerful supreme court and presidency was baked into it.
When you consider the Roman Constitution lasted ~400 years and wasn't even written down, ours is pathetic.

They say this is for peace, national security, to protect our military, and to prevent Iran from getting nuclear arms. They claim the deal allows the US access for inspections, but I understood that the deal prevents the US from having access for inspections.

Soona, this is an interesting problem, isn't it. I have no problem myself with teaching my kids about the injustices of the past. Americans sure did give the shaft to the Indians, for example, though many Indians were warlike and justified killing other Indians, etc. The point is, there's plenty of blood and corruption to go around. Nobody should be afraid to confront this.
The problem as I see it is that this sense of American sin, like all sin, tends to weigh down and oppress every other sentiment you can have about America. Why does this tend to happen? Part of the reason is that we've lost our interest in, and our ability even to present, *positive* images to ourselves.
It's a bit like young people I see nowadays who are so beat up psychologically, sexually, and physically, that their dominant emotion is loneliness and woundedness. They find it really, really hard to believe in anything. This is why they love animals so much.

This is an important insight and you articulated it well. I see this in kids I encounter. They are cynical about America, only want to get free stuff, and have no sense of direction. They have nothing to believe in so they believe in more drugs and more stuff. It breaks my heart to see how empty some of them are.

The system is fundamentally broken in ways that would be hardly affected by even a wholesale slaughter of the current GOP.

Without going into too much detail, my business unit does services for all other units in the company.
One of these units decided that they want to have their own in-house unit doing what we already do for everyone else.
In a meeting to discuss it, I said "the new director is just being tribal - it's not going to get approved."
Hippy dippy coworker (She's back!) said "that's kind of a racist thing to say."
