The Left's Willful Ignorance [CBD]

Here is an interesting article from Reason (yeah, I know) about the resounding, deafening silence from the Left and academia in response to an article exposing the shaky foundation of the campus serial rapist theory.

But is anyone surprised?

Here is what is happening all across American campuses.

5 Is this an Open Thread? If so, here's an interesting article from a Post reporter who went "undercover" as a painted lady on Times Square, taking pictures with tourists for tips.

Her uniform (other than paint) was some shoes, blue underwear and a few feathers. To her surprise, most people were very nice to her and the only people complaining about "objectification" were the undercover cops standing around watching.

7 For the Left, with control of 90% of the international media, ignoring news they don't like or consider too risky to acknowledge or debate can be a very effective strategy.

8 The story is almost encouraging.

I'm old enough to remember when one of the pillars of our government (through its legal system) was the unassailable, concrete belief that someone was innocent until proven guilty.

It's good to see that this belief is coming back into vogue. IMHO, someone on our side should've been standing somewhere (preferably right inside Claire McCaskill's office) with a bullhorn screaming "innocent until proven guilty!" 24/7/365. The fact that there wasn't speaks of the weakness of the GOPe.

9 I would not send my child to a 4 year college in today's college environment. I would send them to a two year college for the required subjects and then to finish the degree at a 4 year school when they are older and can take the electives. Also of consideration would be a trade school if they were interested in something of that nature.

Interesting. I know basically nothing of that part of the world, but it looks similar enough to the rogue cabbies doing their thing out here. You have government entities that control licensing and who gets to practice their trade, and individuals who wish to be free of government oversight.

Are we as a nation going to allow that? Can ANYTHING be done without the hand of government being involved?

It seems to have become, not just an economic issue, but a moral one as well. It's for the children (or whatever). How dare you not allow government to keep them safe from YOU!

Two things:

1st.: Reason

2nd: There is no willful ignorance on the Left. It's all bullshit propaganda.

The Left isn't trying to prevent rapes. The Left have no good intentions here or anywhere. The Left engages in Rule Changes in their bullshit causes to gain power.

This is fundamental stuff, dildo.

That was an interesting story.

Female toplessness is legal in NYC. There's a group I follow whose mission is to keep it that way. Well, that's one of their missions, the other is to tell people how nice it is to walk around unencumbered.

They're the Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society. And when they're in public they're usually reading pulp fiction.

14 My sister is one of those liberals who means well. But she is so emotionally bound up with various narratives, that I can see she's visibly distressed when challenged on it, so I can't really take her to task over it. She's smart, has a law degree, etc.but just has this overridding need to believe the liberal faith. I usually end any discussion by saying, "well, I just believe X", and sometimes I make it into a caricature of what I believe, to allow her the comfort of believing she's right. "My brother's a bigot, so I've won", etc.

I'm not concerned about the harm this does, since she's married to a fairly conservative guy, and has two sons she's devoted to. She won't throw them under the bus. If in 18 years some Emma follows them around with a mattress, she'd take their side.

Posted by: Bruce Boehner at August 30, 2015 12:26 PM (P6Jv8)

15 I'm still at a loss to 'splain why one of those fake rape cases hasn't been challenged in court on the basis of the Left's unconstitutional assumption of guilt. This could've been nipped in the bud early on, perhaps, using this one simple trick.

But then again, leftard judges and penumbras and all that rot.

She fizzled.

At the gig last night there were some really fierce storms. Lots of thunder and lightning.

We were in the middle of a song that had a part where we all stop, count to 4, then continue. Just as soon as we got to the stop, the power got knocked out for a few seconds. I'm talking right to the second, timing couldn't have been any better. The whole bar was dark.

When the lights came back on, we were all looking at each other while we waited for the amps and PA system to come back to life, then, all together, just as we should, we hit the next note and finished the song.

Much laughter ensued. Muchly much laughter.

Or more likely, she's not working anywhere... which means she's still with her mattress, but since she's laying around in her parents' basement, nobody can tell any difference between her and the rest of her graduating class.

65 The "rape crisis" is about a power grab by the Left, and about generally disenfranchising men.

The mechanism is to replace judicial procedures, the rule of law, evidence, findings and examination /cross examination of witnesses to determine guilt or innocence (presumed innocent until proven guilty) with executive procedure.
Under Executive procedures, political guilt is already assigned, and punishment according to your class and identity will be determined. This is in the universities now, and will spread to the general population as those graduates leave and permeate society.
If you have had children in high school, you are used to this, as high school administration of punishment (to minors) is always somewhat arbitrary.

No more trenchant proof than at UVa. An obviously bullshit made-up story ("Haven Monaghan? Really? Someone read "Catcher in the Rye" too many times) by a cabal of leftists taking advantage of a mentally disturbed girl, and it's a huge deal, blowing up across the country with a "national conversation about campus rape."
Meanwhile, an honest to God rapist rapes and murders a UVa coed, and crickets ensue. Now a corpse is hard to fake, no? But that actual rapist was black. Now if he'd been named Haven Shabazz, maybe the story would have made Rolling Stone.

71 Well said, Bossy Conservative.
I would say that it also involves controlling/destroying normal expressions of sexuality as part of their quest to destroy families (the strongest unit against state power).

How does one form a lasting, intimate bond that could lead to marriage, kids, etc. when the Left has, A] Sexualized kids at the earliest age, convincing them hookup culture is optimal/the norm, and then B] Convinced them that all those strangers they're now potentially having sex with may actually be rapists, so now we must have C] State-managed hookups complete w/pre-sex signed contracts and pictures to prove consent, and police involvement should you experience morning (or week, or month) after regret.

75 The mechanism is to replace judicial procedures, the rule of law, evidence, findings and examination /cross examination of witnesses to determine guilt or innocence (presumed innocent until proven guilty) with executive procedure.
Under Executive procedures, political guilt is already assigned, and punishment according to your class and identity will be determined. This is in the universities now, and will spread to the general population as those graduates leave and permeate society.

85 Leftists, most definitely including their feminazi wing, created the very hook-up culture that distresses so many young women today.

They based their sexual revolution on a lie, that men and women have the same sexual nature, and now that there are problems with the results, they "solve" things with more lies...and more resulting problems.

Since Left means never having to say you're sorry, they just keep adding destruction to destruction. As usual.

Black guy rapes white woman? Rain. Blacks murder blacks? Rain. Muslims murder Muslims? Rain. Muslims murder Christians? Rain.

Not ready to write Walker off - either as to desirability, or actual shot at nomination.

Why? Because this could be just one more example of the surreal situation we live in. A politically and substantively one-sided issue- mass illegal immigration w/out assimilation and all the ramifications (gutting rule of law, fiscal problems, social problems, etc) is so walled off by a political class that refuses to deal with it, even major candidates who have bucked the tide of idiocy on other key matters (Walker - public sector unions) have trouble grasping it.

While detail stripping the M1 carbine last night, caught one of those 30-second editorial comments by major radio hosts (this time Medved) on big issues. Jaw-dropping. He made completely untrue and ludicrous assertions about the 14th amdmt. (including that the courts have ruled many times specifically on birthright citizenship for offspring of illegals) and of course ended with his usual arrogant dismissive tone about how the needed amendment process simply could not proceed given Dem control of enough statehouses. Now of all the vapid "conservative" talking heads Medved seems particularly, weirdly, devoted to mass illegal immigration, and will say anything to promote it.

But Walker is playing on a playing field so distorted beyond recognition that nothing would surprise me.

That's absolutely true, but he has to learn to adapt to that, just like all the candidates do. And this has been the absolute FAILURE of the Republican Party as a whole since 2006. The Tea Party faction tried to show them, but they are too stubborn to accept that (except in a very superficial way).
Yes, recognize that the Media is tilted against you.
Yes, recognize that the corporatist Uniparty wants things to go on as "business as usual", until things get so rotten they collapse (or enough voters get fed up and revolt and find someone to carry their revolt).

Walker knows Wisconsin. He knows the political landscape there. I think his basic priniciples are sound, but playing outside of Wisconsin he appears out of his depth.

Vic - yep, I was citing Medved's *inaccurate* claim WRT court cases and the 14th, but it's useful for you to repeat the point - as we will now be hearing *that* particular lie/myth/distortion on a regular basis, in fact we already are. Hilariously (unwittingly so, as always) Hewitt has already staked out his position: that there simply is too much to do, esp. because of the int'l situation, for us to do the (again, mythical) required const. amndmt. to fix the 14th. A dodge so stupid and sophomoric in so many ways that a diagram would be needed to illustrate.

WOPR, Bossy - not making excuses for Walker, and not condemning him, just pointing out how his stumbles on this matter illustrate what a broken, dysfunctional political landscape we have (for once, those terms actually apply). One of, if not *the*, major public policy issue of the time can almost literally not even be discussed. I believe this is a unique development in American history. Typically our open system has front-centered the biggest problems, and then let the struggle commence (one time resulting in an actual war).
