Not that I hurl epithets at anyone, but this is what happens when, instead of invoking "sticks and stones," the left takes over the language and demands words be removed from the lexicon and we are sensitive to the feelings of others.

Feminism, militant homosexuality, victimhood and historical revisionism have made us weak, neurotic and useless as a culture and a nation.

Presupposes that there is actually a party in opposition that wants to do this.

Like every other kabuki-bukakke, Corker-Menendez is the cherry on top that proves otherwise.

Given the blatant illegality of going to the UN before the Senate can debate, and the completely illegal side deals that were hidden from that body, McCocksickle should declare everything null and void, call a vote with 2/3rds and proclaim any deal with Iran officially dead.

But, the GOP is a wing of the Democrat/Chamber of Commerce Institutional Party.

The thing I hate about that song is that the basic complaint is that country music has been rather shallow lately. Which is true.

But you don't fix it by writing a throw away whiney complaint song. Why don't you write a great song about something real? Otherwise you're no better than anyone you're complaining about.

In the movie "Bowfinger" Eddie Murphy plays for laughs a character to goes out of his way to find racial insults in everything. For example he runs a script through computer analysis to find that the number of times the letter "K" occurs in the script is equally divisible by 3, meaning that they are sending him multiple messages of KKK.

It is not quite as amusing to meet people like that for real.

102 The thing I hate about that song is that the basic complaint is that country music has been rather shallow lately. Which is true.

But you don't fix it by writing a throw away whiney complaint song. Why don't you write a great song about something real? Otherwise you're no better than anyone you're complaining about.

Got to be a way to get that awkward jump-and-draw pistol shot into Vince Foster's back, too.

The GOP could easily short circuit this by proposing a law allowing student debts to be discharged by bankruptcy. What the hell, throw in back child support debts and allow bankruptcy to discharge all debts the way it used to be before Congress "fixed" the bankruptcy laws. At the best you give millions of people a clean start in their financial lives and even if it doesn't pass you create a wedge issue between millenials and women's rights advocates.

If Boner and McConnell were not useless lumps of meat, they would have been proposing bills like that for the last six and a half years.

By default, Waze designates East Jerusalem as Palestinian territory and directs users to alternative routes that are longer but supposedly safer.

In the wake of violence in East Jerusalem, navigation application Waze has begun to direct drivers to alternate routes that don't pass through Palestinian neighborhoods in the capital that are

designated as Palestinian Authority territority.

I do NOT think this is a political move by Waze. First of all it is an Israeli Company. It is a safety issue. However I get where the Mayor of Jerusalem is upset by this. Sigh. It's tough living in Israel

I grew up in SW Virginia, and I can tell you from personal experience that people there love watermelon. And when I say people, I mean all sorts of people. Watermelon is pretty much a staple of summertime meals there; don't think I ever attended a picnic or a pot-luck as a kid where they weren't multiple watermelons being sliced up and passed around.

I know this killer wasn't a VA native, so maybe he just didn't get it, but watermelon there is just a tasty, inexpensive summer fruit that a lot of people like to eat. It's not a symbol of raaaaaacism or oppression or Jim Crow or any of that other crap. Maybe if this guy had spent more time around people there, and less time looking in the mirror or taking pictures of himself, he'd have noticed that.

I never heard the name Rick Wilson until it was made plainly obvious that some people with the power to censor this site decided it was wrong to disagree with Rick Wilson.

If Ace has been getting flack, it's not due to insults toward his "friend" Rick Wilson, it's due to people pointing out that the only reasonable response to someone expressing a Free Speech disagreement with someone is... MOAR FREE SPEECH!

If all it was had been flung insults, I don't think the reaction would have been this. I think some of it is the realization that he, or whoever it is who decides to disappear WeirdDave's weekend posts is wrong to do so, and he's digging himself a bigger hole by handling it this way.

Or maybe it has nothing to do with the douchebaggery of Rick Wilson and the Cobs who disappear posts on weekends. Maybe it is noobs showing up and having nothing but insults to hurl at people.

Well, it isn't designed for gay people, but yes, I had heard that no that you mention it.

I tend to think if Deep Springs wants to go ahead with admitting women it's a shame they can't have an entirely separate school/ranch-farm. There's a reason why the cloistered orders are the ones which are growing in the RCC-the rhythm of work, prayer and study in a community. Deep Springs isn't a religious school but it's on to some of the same things.

I have several loved ones who were adopted. It's an emotional minefield for all parties involved.

One thing I learned from one who successfully met and became close to his birthmom as an adult was how strong genetics are (not just looks, but gestures, habits, interests, sense of humor and generally way of thinking) and how difficult it can sometimes be to be in a family where everyone else has this natural genetic similarity/bond (the looks, gestures, etc.) and you don't. When one or more of the parents is an a$$hole it would make the whole situation so much worse.

Hell, lots of people are assholes. Most people are assholes at least part of the time.

And with what's going on in, and to the country, people are pissed, and frustrated, and pissed. Pissed off, frustrated people are prone to assholeyness.

Super Tramp had a song that was pretty catchy - Take the Long Way Home. Most people probably never thought about it much, but there was some meaning to that song.

To descend into corniness, "When the going gets tough, that's not exactly the best time to quit." Or something.

The other thing the Brazilians have going for them is a left-wing personality cult wrapped around Dilma Roussef that was explicitly modeled on the most baroque aspects of the Barack personality cult.

Including stadiums full of people voicing slow and dreamy chants of "Dil-ma, Dil-ma," as she flounced around preposterous backdrops that looked more like movie sets than podium stages.

Except that she wasn't any more economically competent than the guy to whom the Brazilian left looked for inspiration, and Brazil had far more shallow coffers to prop up the traveling medicine show than the USA did.

340 @317 I linked to the NASA Climate Sea Level Catastrophe yesterday. In the "lede" they refer to 3 feet this decade; then in the article it says 3 feet by the end of the century, with codicil that the US west coast is abnormally low right now due to Reasons Not Cited, then, finally, you notice that the study "suggests" this, mainly based on a claimed but unverifiable world rise of 3 inches over the last 23 years. It's like Murray Gell-Mann laid a minefield.

And now they've backed it down to two centuries? I'm filling sandbags.

349 I have seen good and bad from the Trump and anti- camps but one
commenter, Nip Sip, in particular has gone off the rails absolutely
unchecked.

He has almost daily baited Trump supporters (all 3 of
them) and those were are just 'Trump-curious' by conflating Trump's
campaign with Hitler's rise and Trump supporters as brown shirts. He
even race-baited calling Trump's immigration approach 'purifying the
master race'.

He usually follows up with " oh yeah ace, you need to DO SOMETHING about these trashy, racist, Trumpiods. They are TRUE BELIEVERs and can't be reasoned with".

Yet not a word is said.

I
don't care much for Trump but if you want to look at shit-stirrers on

Hector-like mobys .

361 The interesting thing about this election season currently - besides everything else - is how its shaping up to be a battle for the blue collars.

Maybe its because the upper incomes or elite/white collars aren't in dispute?

But.... if Biden gets in the race he has a great appeal to the union blue collar types. Sanders has a degree of traction with them. Trump appeals to the same cohort. Walker, conversely, turns a percentage of them off, while Hillary and Jeb lose them altogether.

I don't listen to Rush much, either. Never liked his bombastic style. That said, I don't expect Limbaugh to formulate in-depth policy solutions while doing an hours-longradio show. It's a show, after all, a brand of entertainment. Steyn, on the other hand, presents himself as a deeply thoughtful, witty and articulate pundit-type. My problem with the Steyn--and it isn't really much of a problem--is that he goes on at length delineating the woeful state of affairs in which we find ourselves yet never (to my knowledge) shows a way out.
