36 I hope at least one of those frat guys reads Instapundit, because Reynolds provides excellent advice.

My advice to these fraternity guys: (3) The real killer: Go to the Virginia Legislature and tell them they should cut Old Dominion's budget. Come prepared with figures on the number of administrators on campus now, versus 10 and 20 years ago. File freedom of information requests and get the travel expense figures for the folks in the administration. Look over them for suspicious and large expenditures. (You"ll find them!) Make a big stink about those."

65 Have I been Charles Johnsoned?

Posted by: wisenheimer at August 27, 2015 08:37 AM (qnhj2)

66 I've been wanting to say this for a while now, and now seems like the right time.

People are stuck on believing that inherent racism and their consequences are responsible for what is happening with divisions that have formed and continue to exacerbate in this country.

That's part of it, but only part. Much of it has to do with the entitlement mentality that has been promoted politically - by pols from both parties - and by individual groups formed out of those divisions.

What has been being promoted is the sense that people have a right to be offended by promoted and perceived past, and ongoing mistreatment by other groups, and specifically by the "white male patriarchy" They have been encouraged to believe that they are owed something by... somebody generally, and by the "white male partiarchy" in particular, and they have been, and are being encouraged to seek to gain what they are owed if not from the group they are encouraged to believe that has oppressed them, then from the money pot of last resort, the government.

This hasn't been articulated (I don't believe yet), but it is sensed, and it is another reason why people in both parties are fed the fuck up.

That is what I believe. Probably just more insane rantings from someone who is completely disgusted with what has happened over the last few short years and who is utterly pessimistic about the future of freedom in this country.

By the way - The pols in government are awakening to what is going on among the great unwashed in this country, and they won't go quietly.

82 Speaking of OCD- this happened on the personal front this week:

In the clinic where I rent space, the former office manager is the wife of one of the big shot surgeons, infamous for her controlling behavior. This week while in the small bathroom used mostly by doctors I bumped against the toilet paper dispenser and the cover fell open. Pasted on the inside was a computer-printed sticky label that read "Housekeeping- please do not use the cheap toilet paper in this dispenser. The good toilet paper is kept on the shelf in the supply closet across the hall." It was signed with her initials.

Talk about watching out for your husband's ass!

I plan to replace the sticker with one of my own, am soliciting suggestions.

I'm thinking something like: "Please don't use the toilet paper with the actual wood chunks, it chaps my husband's ass"

141 Something I hadn't really thought about is if a magic wand could be waved and the illegals wound up in their home countries, there would be a huge brain-drain in the construction industry. And I'm not sure it'd be all that easy to fill those spots with hard working Americans. Especially since learning construction isn't really something you can do in middle age.

Yeah, you get good workers if you're willing to pay for them but even so, apprenticeships takes time with the end result being that prices go way up for roofers, siders, whatever.

Not that that isn't a preferable outcome, but it'd definitely hurt.

I assisted a good friend's grandparents who live on the Cape after hurricane Bob (1990?) - bailing out several feet of water out of their 1st floor, combing the neighborhood for pieces of their dock, etc. And it was a huge family effort, with neighbors assisting each other, restaurants making sure everyone had coffee and food (no electricity) and so on. That's how a community recovers - together.
Katrina showed that large parts of NOLA are something else altogether. Sad.

178 AS the levees cracked open and ushered hell into New Orleans on Tuesday, President Bush once again chose to fly away from Washington, not toward it, while disaster struck. We can all enumerate the many differences between a natural catastrophe and a terrorist attack. But character doesn't change: it is immutable, and it is destiny.

As always, the president's first priority, the one that sped him from Crawford toward California, was saving himself: he had to combat the flood of record-low poll numbers that was as uncontrollable as the surging of Lake Pontchartrain. It was time, therefore, for another disingenuous pep talk, in which he would exploit the cataclysm that defined his first term, 9/11, even at the price of failing to recognize the emerging fiasco likely to engulf Term2.

Remember when the MSM weren't choking on a Preezy load.

Anyway, Trejbal was reliable for hyperbole against gun owners. He wrote in one of his columns that when he was driving, if he saw a car with any kind of NRA sticker he would refuse to let that car merge.

268 Where would he tuck the gun without pants?

Shoulder holster, with little loops to hold ammo...or shot glasses.

If you're upset with the way the world has gone to shit, the only sane thing to do is grab your rifle and run out onto your front porch, ready to fight.

But take a quick look around the neighborhood first. If you're the only person on the porch with a rifle, you can assume that things aren't quite as bad as you first thought, so it's safe to go back inside for now.

273 Wait, CAC was banned? When and why?

274 Azenogoth (Freedom or Fire): "Have there actually been a noticeable number of banninings?"

At first it was just Buzzion. Turns out he wasn't banned at all but died an honorable death. There was a wake and everything. Many pairs of pants were waived, then waved.

275 Oh, the banning thread. I read the post, I just don't have the time to wade through 9 bajillion comments.

I was on the Trump thread last night when ace was posting some comments of his own. Some tool wrote a comment responding to ace, saying something about "put on your maxi-pad" or some such gratuitous insult, and ace banned him right then and there, and said he was sick of that kind of crap. After that, he announced his new banning policy. Don't know if anybody has been banned since then, as I've been doing some actual work this morning and haven't been on many threads.

Not yet. I'm waiting to see how the first fairly (clears throat) *liberal* morning post goes...

276 Weasel: "I have to say I'm rather looking forward to a Biden vs. Clinton face off..."

Not me. It'll be Biden plagiarizing stealing Clinton's spiel who stole it from Sanders. It'll be one giant crime spree.

277 #134, Article 15's shit just hasn't been the same since Mat and Sarah Knipstein broke up. She was their designated hottie for all the early stuff and is now his ex-fiancee.

278 This tidbit form the DNC platform was incredibly saddening:

"Today's Democratic Party believes that America
must put our families first. The Republican budget tried to take Big
Bird away from 5-year-olds, school lunches away from 10-year-olds,
summer jobs away from 15-year-olds, and college loans away from
20-year-olds."

Not sure which is more frustrating: that for 20 years the damn Dems have been accusing Republicans for hating Big Bird or that for 20 years the Republicans have failed to get rid of public funding for a show and network that is completely self-sufficient.

279 The whiny guy at dadscribe had to shut down his comments on his anti-NRA decal rant. I like to think that we did that. Good work, folks.
