Number of Classified Documents Discovered on Hillary's Server Swells, Ankle-Like, to 305; Key Hillary Aide, Who State Once Said They Had No Responsive Documents About in a FOIA Blow-Off, Now Finds... 17,000 Responsive Documents

Three hundred and five.

And counting.

And remember, this is only a sample of the emails she was willing to disclose.

More than 300 of former Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton’s emails -- or 5.1 percent of those processed so far -- have been flagged for potential secret information, the State Department reported to a federal court Monday.

...

The reviewers have screened about 20 percent of the 30,000 emails Mrs. Clinton returned to the department, which means if the rate of potentially secret information remains steady, more than 1,500 messages will have to be sent to intelligence community agencies, known in government as "IC," to screen out classified information.

"Out of a sample of approximately 20% of the Clinton emails, the IC reviewers have only recommended 305 documents -- approximately 5.1% --for referral to their agencies for consultation," the Obama administration said in new court papers.

"Only." Now, I don't know the context of that line; it could have been written to reassure the judge they will get back on track in releasing her emails to the public after having fallen behind. That is, they could be saying: "Only" 5% are classified, so we think we'll be able to release these emails per your schedule, Your Honor.

Still -- "Only" 1-in-20 of her emails contained, illegally, classified information.

Meanwhile, Gawker makes big news on this front.

The State Department's figures for the number of documents responsive to the FOIA request having swelled from "0" to "nearly 18,000," Gawker writes:

It is not clear how the State Department managed to locate this tranche of Reines' correspondence when it had previously asserted that the emails simply didn't exist. These newly discovered records are from Reines' government account, and are not related to the 20 boxes of government-business emails stored on his personal account the Reines recently handed over to the government, despite his prior claims to Gawker that his official use of non-governmental email was limited: "My personal email was the last place I wanted reporters intruding."

Considering the number of potentially responsive emails contained in Reines' State.gov email account, it's hard to see the agency’s initial denial as anything other than willful incompetence--f not the conscious effort, or the result of someone else's conscious effort, to stonewall news outlets.

Hm, I wonder who they could possibly mean by that.

22 On August 13, lawyers for the U.S. Attorney General submitted a court-ordered status report to the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia in which it disclosed that State employees had somehow discovered "5.5 gigabytes of data containing 81,159 emails of varying length" that were sent or received by [Phillipe] Reines during his government tenure. Of those emails, the attorneys added, "an estimated 17,855" were likely responsive to Gawker's request.

23 I'd love to believe this matters, but all Hillary has to do is make it to 2016 and she's fine. That's almost 6 months away and that's a lot of stonewalling but if anyone can do it, its a Clinton. She's got a very powerful machine and is owed a lot of favors.

I don't get why people keep saying this is the Obamas trying to destroy her. They might hate the Clintons for a variety of good reasons both personal and political, but they love the cause most of all.

Let's say Hillary flames out. Who is the Obama chosen replacement? They hate Hillary at least as much as Republicans do but they hate Republicans even more.

57 She's toast.

Who will go down with her? Her lawyer is obviously at great risk, since he knew or should have known he possessed classified information on a thumb drive in his office for many months. Each instance (305 so far) is ten years in prison, plus a fine. I'll bet you David Kendall has retained personal defense already.

Huma presumably had access to her email accounts, so she's obviously t great personal risk. We know she's already retained a team of defense lawyers.

The State Department has staff who quite obviously will need to defend themselves against potential obstruction and perjury charges, so there's another whole group of people facing serious legal jeopardy.

The Justice Department is where I am most interested in seeing this investigation go next. When did the FBI become aware of a personal, unsecured server? From that point in time forward the real probability of classified material on it should have been obvious (she's the SoS, for crissakes, of course her one and only email address had classified material flowing through it!) , and I'll bet it was obvious SOme person stopped an investigation and-- at that moment in time -- became an accessory to Hillary's multitude of crimes.

Many, many people are going down (I predict) before this is over, and hard.

Here's what it sounds like happened, at least for the ones she received: the docs were sent to an intermediary/Hillary assistant, scrubbed of their security classification, then sent to Hillary.
Thus her defense that nothing she sent of received *was marked* classified.
Always gotta parse w/the Clintons to find the loophole they're attempting to exploit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If she uses that excuse then she is in no way qualified to be POTUS. If she uses the I don't know about emails/technology that also disqualifies her. No one wants a POTUS that is too stupid to wonder why not a single email during her entire tenure as SOS did not contain classified info. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at August 17, 2015 02:24 PM (39g3+)
That's simpler? A conspiracy of judges, congresscritters, and media types, all actively working to play 9th level chess with the Hillery scandals to get in front of it?
And the Obama Administration, for whom it is well known they have NO reason to support Hillery... they're just going along with this scheme?
Is this not why she surrounds herself who have worked for her for decades? They owe their careers to her, they have nowhere to go should they turn on her.
For example, Huma started working for Hillary as an intern while still in college. In the government, just about everything is classified "confidential". Menus from the deli down the street would be stamped Confidential and be placed under the blue cover.
There have been numerous attempts to declassify the vast majority of "confidential" material and to retrain the brain-dead federal employees who continue to use the designation, but to no avail.
If Hillary had 60,000 emails, you can safely bet that the majority of them are "confidential" or above.
This is not exaggeration.
If Hillary sent an email that said that, an intercept by an enemy would then know where the Secretary of State got her food from and what she sometimes orders. If she was going to be poisoned or drugged, this would be a opportunity. It also tells where her closest aide will be and when, if someone wanted a high value kidnapping target.
It could be argued that "confidential" is too low a designation and "secret" would be more appropriate.
Yeah, exactly. People seem to think Obama is behind all this but it doesn't make sense. For that to be true, the Obama team would have to have a personal favorite in the race they want in her place; someone they would throw their machine behind. Because for people like Clinton and Obama, the cause trumps everything else. For them, a Republican in the white house is worse than even their bitterest and most hated rival in their own party.
And there's nobody in the Obama machine running, nobody they support or want. I believe the Obamas aren't pushing to bury this like they might because he likes to flip off his rivals, but they aren't doing this to bury Hillary.
If Hillary sent an email that said that, an intercept by an enemy would then know where the Secretary of State got her food from and what she sometimes orders. If she was going to be poisoned or drugged, this would be a opportunity. It also tells where her closest aide will be and when, if someone wanted a high value kidnapping target.
It could be argued that "confidential" is too low a designation and "secret" would be more appropriate.
352 True. But Republicans can say the same thing. It's always a battle for the few influenceable voters.
In the past, sure. But in the last election Romney pulled in all his base and the majority of the independents and still lost by several points. In other words: that undecided middle? They don't call the election any more.
Either there are some severe shenanigans going on, or there's a huge pool of people who'll reliably vote Democrat that President Obama has figured out how to tap into and get into the polls - people who previously stayed home on election day. Or a combination.
I think it's a combination. For all the shit we give Obama, and he deserves every bit of it and more, his campaign team did a hell of a job energizing and getting people to the polls.
No doubt in my mind that there was a lot of cheating because Democrats cheat, probably the only reason we got JFK was because of some, er, irregularities in the vote in Illinois, but I do think his team was very good at getting out the vote. I don't see Sanders or Clinton being able to generate that kind of buzz and enthusiasm.
Trump (or some other right wing candidate) should jump on the free shit bandwagon for a little while and promise some things we need.
As I mentioned before, we can use the gift of single payer catastrophic (which is only going to be used by a tiny percentage of the public) to get Health Savings Accounts, along with competition and transparency for the bulk of healthcare.
Also, we can go full on socialist with power by having the government own 500 identical nuclear reactors, built on government land across the country, with eliminated liability and waste disposal, feeding a series of private enterprise grids delivering the almost free power. This would bring back manufacturing big time and allow for new, power intensive industries.
The only reason the government needs to do this as opposed to private industry is the nature of nuclear materials and regulations.
Use the socialist things to promote free enterprise.
President Bush authorized nuclear power plants to be built on decommissioned military bases, which eliminated a lot of the expense. Something like 19 were in the works in 2006 when I wrote about it originally but they take a long time to get into operation.
390 Some Internet history.
Back in the computer stone age, DARPA wanted a robust communication system that could survive local disruptions and still get data delivered between labs/installations.
So when a user hits Send on that email, think of it as a very long letter you just dropped in the mail box. But now to ensure the message gets through, it is transformed into 50 postcards. Each postcard has the destination address along with your address.
Postcard 1 goes through St. Louis. Postcard 6 goes through Atlanta. Postcard 27 though New Orleans. And so on. But they all arrive out in San Francisco where the post office puts it back into a letter and delivers to the recipient.
Now imagine each postcard with classified information carried anthrax. You would want every speck, every machine, and every person who cam in contact with those postcards to be cleaned wouldn't you?
Did this help or confuse?
That's true of most dogs. They protect their people. I have always had Rotts, and even though they are really well trained, I know-and tell people-that they are only well trained until they feel their people are at risk.
I have also had a few Bouviers, and the difference between Rotts and Bouviers is that Rotts have to be trained to be attack dogs. Bouviers have to be trained not to be. They are much more protective and territorial than Rotts.
I have never had a Doberman, but I know people who do. They also are great dogs.
Just a realist.
On the power plan, if it was gas or coal I wouldn't want the government anywhere near it. However, nuclear has unique problems that require the government to take on the responsibility for the liability and waste management otherwise it ruins the almost free nature of the power.
As a way to lower the financial burden on families, let's let everyone have almost free power for heating/ac/lights/everything else. Just like a tax reduction. If you're going to make steel, aluminum, copper or anything else, you'll make it where the power is free. That's the majority of the cost in base manufacturing.
Heavy machining relies on power too. Every forging or casting is using far more dollars in energy than in labor.
398 TWO Email servers most likely - so y'all need to do some more digging.
Server one when she started receiving emails @clintone mail.com when it was registered prior to the inaguration - remember she supposedly never used SoS secure email back then. At that time, January 2009, Exchange 2007 was the latest version available and would be the most reasonable version installed at that time. This assumes she was not running an older server at that time (which could be even worse).
When the Email scandal "broke" her Outlook Web Access was version 2010 which did not come out until November 2009 (RTM was May 2009).
So she had email on a different server (Exchange 2003/2007) earlier and then LATER Exchange 2010 which was running at the time of the rumors starting. TWO servers. Very likely things could have been previously deleted. So odds are she has gone through at least TWO iterations of Microsoft Exchange Server.
So provided she has not switched across multiple providers, she has had at least 2 Exchange servers, certainly the one at the time the scandal broke had OWA WEBMAIL access to the server. So any Tom, Chin, and Ivan could attempt to login. Plus the version they were using at the time was NOT patched to the correct level of security updates.
It's not hollywood, it's thug culture and rap marketing that's screwed up Dobermans. I lived next door to a doberman breeder as a kid and the dogs were awesome. Talked to her one time about the dogs aggressiveness and she said it's primarily to do with training and their head shape. If you beat a dog it's going to have issues no matter what we all know that. But she said if you look at the skull you can usually tell if it's going to be aggressive by nature. Skinny skull = mean as hell, wide heads = over grown puppies. She said in most dogs it's the same thing. Gangsta's want slim headed dogs and they like the aggressive ones so it's what you see in the gangsta media. Said the narrow skull pinches the back of the brain causing them to have smaller/malformed medulla oblongotas making them cranky and prone to snapping aggressively. Same goes for poodles and other breeds where slick heads are the style. You just don't see many french gangsta movies with sleek poodles so you don't associate it.
co-workers. That's it. I came in, I got my work done, then I wanted to
go home. No forced socializing, if you please.
Well Friday is Hawaiian shirt day. So if you want to you can go ahead and wear a Hawaiian shirt.
411 And no way will the government put a punitive tax on all of that free electricity for everyone that uses it. NO WAY!!
And government built and run operations are always done so efficiently, huh? Sorry. Not buying that bridge.
Posted by: Soona at August 17, 2015 03:40 PM (P25Hh)
If the republicans were the ones preventing democrats from taxing the power, it would be a pretty good item to campaign on.
Ideally, the government would only own the land and finance the construction, along with assuming the liability and handling the waste storage. The actual operation should be contracted out to private operation.
Also, the 500 reactors all being identical simplifies manufacturing, construction and training tremendously.
413 Also, we can go full on socialist with power by having the government own 500 identical nuclear reactors, built on government land across the country, with eliminated liability and waste disposal, feeding a series of private enterprise grids delivering the almost free power. This would bring back manufacturing big time and allow for new, power intensive industries.
The only reason the government needs to do this as opposed to private industry is the nature of nuclear materials and regulations.
Use the socialist things to promote free enterprise.
Why I would almost say that would work, government operation of nuclear power would be about as safe and efficient as the VA hospital system.
I would agree in general, but we've also been building, storing, disassembling and destroying nuclear, chemical and biological weapons for decades without killing off whole cities - so we've got that going for us.
418 TVA plans to get the first new US nuke online since 1996 - Watts Bar 2.
TVA is owned by the Feds.
Not saying I like the idea of the Feds owning the power plants (I sure don't), but TVA isn't the VA. If it were, half the country would have been irradiated by now.
both personal and political, but they love the cause most of all.
Let's say Hillary flames out. Who is the Obama chosen replacement?
They hate Hillary at least as much as Republicans do but they hate
Republicans even more."
The Left plays the long game. If Hillary goes down, some lame Republican gets the White House and does lame stuff as the country continues to flounder. The GOP does its usual infighting bit, the Dems take effective control of Congress (if not actual), and proceed to ram through more of their agenda. The Cause advances unabated.
The idea behind 500 identical reactors is to have so much base power, that initially, we would be spending additional money to waste the excess electricity.
Civilization has advanced with each leap in the availability of affordable power. This recent move towards conservation is a step backwards. Unlimited free power will spawn new thinking and processes that will advance the country instead of drawing it back in a defensive ball.
Heat the streets in the winter and cool the cities in the summer. Sink induction coils into the freeways so that battery powered cars can recharge while driving. Desalinate sea water and pump Alaskan fresh water to Los Angeles. Do shit we haven't even dreamed of.
At 2 billion a copy, each plant would have been a bargain when compared to Obama pissing away a trillion on a nothing stimulus.
423 a few thoughts on this:
first, there is just no excuse for using a private email address to conduct business. no public company would ever permit this practice for fear of the enormous liability and compromise of business secrets. i've personally seen people walked out for this (sending company information/email to personal email addresses), and it was not for disclosing classified information. yes, this would most certainly include the executives at the top, especially those at the top. hillary should have been removed for this regardless of what email was received/sent from this personal email server. full stop.
also, i don't know if anyone has suggested this yet, but whoever forwarded classified documents/information to essentially a personal email address should be as culpable as much as hillary is. all of these people knew this was criminal. they should all be threatened with criminal indictment if they don't roll over on this woman.
My point is the politics involved with Federal ownership. I'm sure Yucca Flats is a fantastic facility, yet it is not being utilized (and may never be). Not that doesn't happen in the private sphere too, but I suspect there would be all kinds of additional problems with Federal ownership whose main customer will be the politicians in DC and the bureacracy.
430 I look at this issue the other way around.
HRC was the Secretary of State. What does that say about how effective she could have been if "only" 5% of her e-mail content contained classified info? I mean, you would think that the Secretary of State's email would be chock full of sensitive classified material if she were actually trying doing a good job, no?
433 My question is how can Clinton claim over and over that she never sent or received any emails containing classified info? Someone would have had to go through each of those 30k emails and checked them either for markers or content. That person would have had to have had a super high security clearance as well. Who was this person and how did they make their judgments? Hilary seems awfully confident that she won't be caught out.
