The Haggard Queen Loses Support Among White Women

Mrs. Clinton is losing ground with white women and many other important slices of the electorate, the poll shows, amid a spate of reports about her email practices, speaking fees and foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation. In June, 44% of white women had a favorable view of Mrs. Clinton, compared to 43% who didn’t. In July, those numbers moved in the wrong direction for Mrs. Clinton: Only 34% of white women saw her in a positive light, compared to 53% who had a negative impression of her, the poll found.... In the first three months of the year, suburban women by a margin of 18 points had a positive view of Mrs. Clinton. In July, those numbers took a dramatic turn for the worse. By a five-point margin, suburban women had a negative view of Mrs. Clinton. Among white women with at least a college degree, 51% had a positive view of Mrs. Clinton and 38% a negative as of June. In July, those numbers had turned to 43% positive and 47% negative. “There is no way you can say she’s in the same position this month compared to last month,” said Bill McInturff, a Republican pollster who directs the WSJ/NBC News survey along with Democrat Fred Yang. “She’s been dented and she’s in a weaker position.” The WSJ/NBC poll of 1,000 adults was conducted July 26-30. Other worrisome trends for Team Clinton: –In the first quarter of the year, independents were about evenly split in their perception of Mrs. Clinton. By July, many independents had soured on her. Just 27% had a positive image of the former first lady, U.S. senator and secretary of state, compared to 52% who had a negative view.Barack Obama lost white women by 14 points, however, he of course had historic (historic, I tell you) levels of support from blacks and other minorities. The Haggard Queen won't have quite that, I don't think, so she needs to make up that ground in other demographics. Obviously, she's looking to pull in a historic chunk of the women's vote. But what if women just don't like the dissembling cow? Not to mention -- What the hell is she doing working for the State Department and private, favor-seeking clients simultaneously? But that's the thing about the Clintons, isn't it? So hard to tell where the government ends and their private interests begin.

I don't think she ever had support from white women. The last exit polls I saw broken down by race and sex showed that white women voted Republican by just over 50%. White men were of course higher.

That's kind of my reading on it too. I think they would turn out for Warren, but not for HRC. She will obviously get a lot of the women vote, but that is from women who already vote. I don't think either will cause increased turnout from those who typically do not vote.

mid 2011 friend of mine - a white woman at that - tells me how pissed off she is with Obama. This is a white woman who enthusiastically supported Obama in 2008. By the summer of 2012 she was sporting the Obama "2012" bumper sticker on her car.
All it took was an Akin or two to send her right back into Obama's arms.

Local radio had Eleanor Clift on for interview yesterday and they asked about this, about people thinking Hillary Clinton was dishonest and untrustworthy, and Clift was all like "that's just because the news is reporting on all these scandals and pseudo scandals."
And what's cool about local radio is they don't let that bullshit fly. They said, well you say pseudo scandals, but she did in fact say this about the emails and it wasn't true, she did in fact say this about Benghazi and it wasn't true, so maybe that is why people find her untrustworthy because you can't trust her?

I have no doubt that there are some voters who would occasionally vote GOP (perhaps always) if the GOP just dropped the pro-life stuff. The problem is the people who say that (like Moo Moo) seem to think this just happens in a vacuum and that there are no voters on the other side of the spectrum. There is a reason the Catholic vote has moved to the right.
I would never vote for any GOP candidate who claimed to be pro-choice. I do not think I am in the minority on that claim. The GOP could become agnostic on abortion and pick up a few voters, but it would lose a lot more.
And without its moral compass, it would lose its purpose - and perhaps already has.

FenelonSpouse quit smoking cold turkey in 1983 when cigarrettes were what-$1.00 a pack (?) because they were too expensive in addition to being bad for you. My current plan to quit is when I go for back surgery. It appears that I will have to be in the hospital for a couple days after the surgery and I'm told hospitals tend to frown on smoking, bigots.
My surgeon also told me that smoking retards bone growth so it will be bad for the grafts.
So intense pain coupled with quitting smoking, yea I should be a barrel of laughs for a few weeks.

Friend's daughters spent almost five years each getting B.S. degrees in early child education. You know what they do? They work at nursery schools set up by government entities. They babysit and care for infants through six year olds, doing everything from changing diapers to filling sippy cups to reading to the older ones. They each paid almost $75,000 and spent almost five years in undergrad to do this.
And they got a huge dose of womyn's studies, African American Studies, Multi culturalism, alternative parenting, etc. along the way.
And they will vote Dem and particularly would vote for a woman, especially one that raves on about free child care.....
Did the majority of those women forget to use their degreed minds before June? What's the point of having a presumed education if you don't use it?
I guess the answer is, "There's education and then there's credential."

I agree with the poster who said that all Hilary needs is to win is to have Bill make an "impassioned" speech that will make the Dems swoon and come running back to vote for her. It would be especially effective if he does that in a real stem-winder of a speech......and then croaks the next day, two, three days before the election. It would be a landslide....
