Is This Something?

I'm going to bet on optimism and say it's something, even though I'm old enough to know better.

Although the original has become, by now, a minor classic, I can't forget when I became aware of it: Around September 11, 2001. That was when the two-weeks-before-the-September-28-release-date marketing campaign was ramping up.

Obviously, few bothered to see it in the theaters.

8 There is literally nothing about the movie in this teaser. It allows everyone who sees it to project their own ideas about what a Zoolander movie ought to be.

In many ways, this is the story of...

Never mind.

I actually liked Ben Stiller in Mystery Men and Tropic Thunder. Even the Royal Tenenbuams. Night at the Museum looked fun--I came close to seeing it several times.

But the Zealander trailer made it look just, kind of your descriptions of unfunniness, actually.

I'm one of the few who saw it in the theaters. A first date in a relationship that had a lot of potential - but just that.

Haven't seen it in years, so I cannot tell how it really ages. Perhaps it aged well, but still had to be drunk within 10 years.

Is it still good? Not all of Ferrell's characters age as well.

31 I saw this trailer when I saw Mission Impossible this weekend-

most of the audience laughed. So, I'd say there's a lot of pretty good will towards the character.

Will the sequel be able to walk the same intensely stupid but fun line as the first or just totally and irrevocably suck?

For instance, the gasoline fight makes me laugh every single time I see it.

That kind of hilarious stupid is a rare commodity.

OT: Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was a great summer action movie and well worth your time.

MI:RN, in fact, is going to be hard to top as an action thriller by the new James Bond.

But the first season of "Fargo" is probably worth your time.

It starts off really poorly though and doesn't really get it's feet and the proper tone till after episode 3.

After that it's a fun rollercoaster ride with some outstanding performances.

And ends quite nicely.

Anyway, it's the only time in my life I thought bread baking was funny.

You should really give it a shot.

I'm someone who watches almost no television and I really thought it was great. Billy Bob Thornton hits it out of the park as a mysterious hitman.

I thought it ended on a weaker note, but overall a great little series.

You could easily watch all the episodes over a weekend.

I'm actually looking forward to the next installment.

i'd go 3>4=1>2. I really did not like the John Woo one, and also thought he made it too John Woo-ey. I mean, if you do a james bond movie, you don't come in and use all your signature stylistic crap. James bond movies have their own style, and you work in that style.

I didn't like anything about M:I 2 except the great Anthony Hopkins appearance, really. Add in the white doves and other Woo-eyness, and it's a miss for me.

At least M:I had that great opening: For five minutes, you were excited to be watching a movie.

economically, you really cannot make this sort of movie with an R-rating. You just can't. The biggest audience for it is, in theory, teenage boys, and if you make it R, they will buy tickets for OTHER movies and then sneak into yours, but you make no money off that, and your movie fails.

I also don't see why you'd make it R.

btw, one of the Mothersbaugh brothers of DEVO did the closing credits song. The makers of this movie did a nice job with it and Applegate and Helms give nods to their persona history - Helms with the a capella singing from The Office and Applegate with the wild bad girl from Married With Children.

Just don't take the kids to see it, unless you like explaining what a rim job is or a truckstop glory hole.
