1 Jimmy Carter has backed into the truth, or the truth has caught up with him. Money really has bought DC after all.

If there's another explanation for the GOP's behavior, I'd like to hear it.

Planned Parenthood murders nearly 330,000 babies a year. Yet we still fund it.
It harvests and sells these babies' body parts for experimentation to pad its bottom line. Just one Planned Parenthood abortion clinic alone reportedly made $120,000 a month from the sale of aborted babies.

Yet we still fund it.

No Democrat debates? The GOP should (but won't, of course) announce no debates unless the Dems do them. And go first.

Anyway, I suspect that they do not want Tovarich Sanders to kick Hilary's saggy ass. I suspect that if they deny him the nomination (they do NOT want him), we may see the Democrat party split. But what is their base these days anyway? That party purged itself of Daniel Moynihan and Zell Miller type people ages ago.

Further to my comment at #10, the Democrats should have been and could have been a regional, party ages ago were it not for the GOP-establishment. Yes, and school indoctrination notwithstanding.

There was no pushback post Reagan. The Bush family and the Chamber of Commerce erased those years and destroyed any meaningful voices of opposition.

WH Gets It Right On Occupational Licensing

by Glenn Harlan Reynolds*

Last week, I wrote in these pages about how politicians use regulation and licensing to protect their supporters from competition at the expense of the public welfare. A few days later, the White House essentially endorsed this point with a new report on how occupational licensing hurts the economy, and in particular the working poor. This isnt a new point, of course. Libertarians (like me) have been making it for decades....

*Glenn Harlan Reynolds is an University of Tennessee law professor. Yes, he finds nothing hypocritical with bitching about licensing as a barrier to free market entry while being a lawyer with academic tenure for life. Why do you ask?

Conservatives' Urban Opportunity

Focus on good governance rather than philosophical purity. Most American cities are unlikely to elect ideologues, and municipal electorates have shown themselves more concerned with the efficiency and effectiveness of local public services rather than their abstract size. Right-leaning candidates running as pragmatic administrators are more likely to get a hearing.

Andrew Evans is an assistant editor at National Affairs. Michael Hendrix is the director of emerging issues and research at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

37 The thing about Norman Lear that pisses me off the most is that his biggest successes were lesser adaptations of British shows (or spinoffs from shows thus adapted).

That became his soapbox where he beat his worldview into the brains of the viewing public, which was easy because he controlled the words of every viewpoint.

Lear helped breed the intolerance that he's crying about now.

41 One of the guns at the aborted attacked on the "Draw Mohammed" contest in Texas was part of "Fast and Furious" ...

Five years before he was shot to death in the failed terrorist attack in Garland, Texas, Nadir Soofi walked into a suburban Phoenix gun shop to buy a 9-millimeter pistol.

At the time, Lone Wolf Trading Co. was known among gun smugglers for selling illegal firearms. And with Soofi's history of misdemeanor drug and assault charges, there was a chance his purchase might raise red flags in the federal screening process.

Inside the store, he fudged some facts on the form required of would-be gun buyers.

What Soofi could not have known was that Lone Wolf was at the center of a federal sting operation known as Fast and Furious, targeting Mexican drug lords and traffickers. The idea of the secret program was to allow Lone Wolf to sell illegal weapons to criminals and straw purchasers, and track the guns back to large smuggling networks and drug cartels.

Libertarians Should Look Twice at Planned Parenthood Defunding Efforts
Elizabeth Nolan Brown

In 1988, the Reagan administration banned the donation of fetal tissue from elective abortions, but the moratorium was lifted by Congress in 1993 as part of the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act. Several Republicans who have recently condemned Planned Parenthood for its fetal tissue program, including Sen. McConnell, voted for the 1993 bill.

98 WH Gets It Right On Occupational Licensing

And Glenn Reynolds once again shows Libertarian myopia.

Notice how many times, just in his quoted portion, the TFG report said "the States?" This is not about doing away with licensing. This is about nationalizing licensing.

The Prog-tards are the ones who *implement* licensing. "For the children" and such. When a Prog-tard administration bemoans the state of licensing, you can bet the "solution" is not going to be *less* government.

The Left's Quest to Create Hundreds of Elizabeth Warrens

A conference, organized by the advocacy group Progressive Change Campaign Committee, was intended to train candidates and activists from states far flung as Wisconsin and Louisiana to run for office and eventually shape national policy.

"How do we elect 300 more Elizabeth Warrens?" said Stephanie Taylor, the co-founder of the PCCC who dreamt up the conference. "This training is part of it: finding them and giving them the tools to run great campaigns."

109 Why not? California licenses illegal aliens as lawyers. Why should we even have laws? If illegal aliens get to pick and choose which laws they'll obey and which ones they won't, why can't the rest of us do the same? If an illegal alien can choose to violate immigration laws, not pay income taxes, not register or pay taxes on his vehicle, etc., then why can't the rest of us do the same? All laws should be optional for everyone: you only have to comply with a law if you personally agree that the law is just, or if the law serves your personal convenience. If not, feel free to ignore it.

That is exactly the dilemma the Left has spent decades cornering us into: either continue to defend the dying Republic as founded and be increasingly marginalized as a relic, bigot, etc, while corruption and lawlessness rage about us...or quit and become lawless like them. Either way, they reach their ultimate goal of destroying America in order to replace it with something made in their own image.

Note that I'm not attacking you with that; I'm just describing what I see as the situation we now find ourselves in. Intentionally or not, your statement summed it up quite nicely.

Meathead, intended to be the conscience of the show, was a repugnant idiot because even when he might have, once in a while, just by chance, been right in fact, he was always wrong in spirit.

My take. Might not have been everybody's.

When racist Archie got counterpointed by racist George Jefferson, that was pretty funny. Couldn't do any of that today.

The problem with this argument is that the left will find that obscure case where it worked (or almost worked) and do the "if it saves just one life!" bullshit (Since it costs at least one life, you're never better than break even).

But in the emotivist world, it might just work.

Imagine Planned Parenthood offering services true to their name: helping a woman track her cycles to conceive; dealing with physical and mental issues of pregnancy; counseling mothers and fathers about balancing life and relationships with-kids; help dealing with sibling issues; grievance counseling for miscarriages (!); parental support groups.

What, that's not their business model?

Another batch of Hillary Clinton e-mails released by the State Department Friday included this little gem showing her inner circle waxing effusive over her dancing skills.

With the subject line: Secretary of Awesome, a Clinton top aide e-mailed around a glowing article in New York Magazine with a video of her boss dancing with locals in Nairobi, Kenya.

Minyon Moore, who is African-American, wrote back, she moves like a Sistah.. this is fabulous. Kiki McLean, another confidante, replied, She is the Secretary of Awesome..and us blondes like to see our fellow fair hairs boogy. Cheryl Mills, who sent the link around to the group, forwarded it to Clinton too. You shake your tail feathers girl, she wrote.

Exactly.

One thing I rarely hear said (outside the really Conservative blogosphere, at least) is this: Democrats thrive on problems, and they therefore hate solutions.

PJ O'Rourke had a column about that this weekend I think (I'd have to go find it). But until Republicans (as a party) address *that* head-on, they'll never win the cities.

You first have to convince people that Democrats are keeping them impoverished and dependent knowingly - if not on purpose. (Hint: it's on purpose).

221 Are The Dems Even Going To Have Debates

This is tricky, scary, and weird.

Purposely holding off until the GOP bubbles up a candidate could be to their benefit.

Holding off to NOT show off their marxist/commie/socialist rundown of candidates could be to their benefit.

Holding off until the GOPe picks Jeb! would be smart for them, because that means there won't be any true debate, so no fear when the time comes.

On the other hand, Hillary's brand is badly damaged and who's left? So people may not be too familiar with any other candidates causing only the hardcore base to come out and vote.

(I didn't actually read the piece.)

I did see a silly? piece this morning saying the Democrats should choose Trump as their candidate over Hillary.

They were asked about Joe and said that they had no problem with him. Apparently, that was all my liberal acquaintance had to hear. Absolved.

Why do the Democrats need debates?

D1: I will institute a 70% tax rate ofn the "Rich"

D2: Oh yeah, well I stand for 95% confiscation

D1: Well I want to ban private property!

D2: Well I support castration of all males immediately after birth to reduce rape and support transgender rights!

249 "Change the direction of the conversation.

Not "welfare is bad for you," but "If Democrats want to get rid of poverty, why do so many of the policies make more of it?" "

People need a hero and a villain.

Nothing is the fault of the poor. It's all a conspiracy by the people with money who took all good stuff for themselves while leaving nothing for the common folk.

To turn things around, you can't be subtle. You need to demonize the democrat party as the reason people are poor.

Poor families are poor because their children can't read. They can't read because democrats sold out to the teachers union in exchange for their votes.

Poor families are poor because fathers paid into Social Security their whole lives and then died after only collecting a year or two. If their family was able to inherit the whole amount, they could buy a house or start a business.

Democrats prevented that. They want the poor to be exactly that - poor.

There is no reason not to use exactly that type of approach. Democrats are evil and want to hurt the poor.

This is the message we need for 2016.

250 Religion of peace.

But a petition from the womens' group Equality Now reveals that immigration has put the United States on a list that will be much more difficult for progressive immigration enthusiasts to cheer. A massive influx of immigrants from Muslim-populated countries in Africa and the Middle East has led the group to conclude that more than half a million girls in the U.S. are in danger of having their exposed sexual organs skinned from their bodies.

Wishful thinking. Most feminists don't care, and the few that do sure as hell don't want to risk a CAIR denunciation or fatwa. This is h=why they hate Ayaan Hirsi Ali: she demonstrates what, er, pussies they really are.
