Internet Completely Outraged And Calling For Blood Over Something They Didn't Know About and Didn't Give a Shit Over Just 36 Hours Before

Is There a Great Teenage Sex Stagnation?

The share of teen girls who reported they've had sex at least once dropped from 51 percent in 1988 to 44 percent in 2013, they found. Abstinence was more pronounced among the guys: 60 percent of teen boys in 1988 said they'd had sex, compared to 47 percent in 2013.
One major hypothesis is that teen sex has declined because smart phone usage is up.  Teens are both better informed about the risks of sex and.they have something else to do.

Also pr0n.

Whitewashing the Black Panthers

Just another snake murderous cult in the 60s.

With his arms again bound and a fresh noose around his neck-this one fashioned from a wire coat hanger-Alex Rackley, an illiterate teenager who had joined the Black Panther Party eight months earlier, was led to the edge of the Coginchaug River in Middlefield, Connecticut.

Of course, there was no boat. And there was no escape. "Orders from national [headquarters]," said George Sams, the bloodthirsty ringleader of the hit squad. "Ice him."

Warren Kimbro, a Black Panther party cadre from the New Haven branch, put the first bullet in Rackley's head, collapsing him in the shallow water. As his body heaved, another Panther foot soldier, Lonnie McLucas, took the gun from Kimbro and fired a bullet into his chest, just in case. They didn't bother checking, but Alex Rackley was still alive, gasping and in pain, one expert later speculated, for almost four hours.

According to George Sams, he was merely following orders issued by Bobby Seale, the Black Panther Party's infamous co-founder and "chairman."

NTSB: Copilot Error and Inadequate Training Led to the SpaceShipTwo Crash

The investigation found that the co-pilot unlocked the booms 14 seconds early when the craft was travelling at only Mach 0.92 and the low-velocity caused the boom to deploy without any action by the pilot, resulting in the destruction of the craft. This was "indisputably confirmed by telemetric, in-cockpit video and audio data." In addition, the Board found no indication of misleading display indicators and that all information in the cockpit was accurate.

The reason given for the error was that the co-pilot hadn't received sufficient training regarding how to safely unlock the boom, hadn't had enough simulation trainings, and that in flight had been confused by the time pressure and the unexpected vibration and pressure of the rocket firing.

Regarding responsibility, the Board found no mechanical shortcomings with the spacecraft. The engine performed above expectations and all systems operated as designed up until the spacecraft broke apart.

How to Make Your Own Hattori Hanzo Sword

Using the traditional methods. Do not be in a hurry.

A friend of mine who worked part-time with a blacksmith/metal worker while in high school said he tried several times to make his own katana-style sword. But he could never quite get the steel composition and heat treatment just right where it would hold an edge without being so brittle that it cracked or broke as soon as you hit anything hard.

7 Things You May Not Know About Sam Houston

Actually his entire Wikipedia article is worth reading and his life even before he ever stepped foot in Texas could be a movie all by itself.

It was his heroics during the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814 that brought him to the attention of Andrew Jackson who became a mentor and friend to him. Interestingly he was also a great defender of Native Americans his entire life based on his time living with a Cherokee tribe.

After running away from his family as a teenager, Houston lived for nearly three years with the Cherokee tribe in eastern Tennessee. Houston learned fluent Cherokee, embraced the tribe's customs and was given the name "Black Raven." After resigning in disgrace as Tennessee governor, the despondent Houston took refuge with the Cherokee in the Arkansas Territory. There, the tribe formally adopted him, and he married a Cherokee woman, Tiana Rogers, in a tribal ceremony. Houston served as the tribe's spokesman and advocate with the federal government, and as a U.S. senator he pressed for Native American rights. He sometimes wore traditional Cherokee garb to government meetings in Washington, D.C.

Later as Governor of Texas he was opposed to secession and was eventually kicked out of office for his refusal to support the Confederacy. He explained his position thusly:

Let me tell you what is coming. After the sacrifice of countless millions of treasure and hundreds of thousands of lives, you may win Southern independence if God be not against you, but I doubt it. I tell you that, while I believe with you in the doctrine of states rights, the North is determined to preserve this Union. They are not a fiery, impulsive people as you are, for they live in colder climates. But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche; and what I fear is, they will overwhelm the South.

Divers Find $1 Million in Gold Coins Off Florida Coast

Schmitt and his family found 52 gold coins worth more than $1 million. The star of the haul was an extremely rare coin known as a "Tricentennial Royal" minted in 1715. It had been underwater since a fleet of Spanish ships foundered during a hurricane along Florida's Treasure Coast 300 years ago, Schmitt said.

"These things were known as presentation pieces not meant to be circulated as currency," Schmitt said.

That coin alone is worth about $500,000, according to Schmitt.

And according to Brent Brisben, co-founder of 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels LLC, the company that owns the rights to dive at the wreckage site where the gold was found, the coin's value comes from the fact that it is in nearly perfect condition and is a rarity.

...Schmitt found the gold while diving near Fort Pierce during his yearly treasure-hunting trip with his wife, his sister and his parents.

Basic training. They marched us up to a line and said, "Can you see the two NCOs in camouflage?"

I was straining my eyes to see, down range, in the trees, all the while a voice in my head was screaming look to your right. While another voice in my head was screaming don't look, don't look. I was paralyzed, unable to turn my head, unable to even move my eyes to the right to see one of the two NCOs standing fifteen feet away. Close enough to have a conversation without shouting.

It's like in the monster movies. There is a monster behind you and if you don't turn around and look. . . You know it's behind you, but don't look, 'cuz then you know there is a monster behind you.

Boys are not girls nor girls boys. This differentiation doesn't really kick in until puberty, and doesn't fully finish until full adulthood is reached. Yet somehow pre-pubescent children, who don't even know what being an man or a woman means, are increasingly being treated as sexual beings with unchangeable orientations and any gender they want.

I get what you're saying here and I certainly agree with the overall point, but I do have something from this weekend that isn't countering your point but maybe requires some revision.

I had a family get together over the weekend. One of my cousins has a girl and a boy. The boy is at that age of walking but still in diapers and not quite talking, so somewhere between 1-2 I think (I have a lot of cousins and they have a lot of kids.) So we're all standing around and cousin and son come up to his wife being "stinky" so time for a diaper change. But the boy doesn't want her to change it. He wants daddy to. And while my cousin is off getting the diaper bag, his wife remarks about the difference between her daughter and her son and how even at that age her son is all about his daddy and papau.

Pro tip: washing with a solution made from sodium bicarbonate, dishwashing liquid added to 3% v/v hydrogen peroxide (the crucial ingredient) will knock out the skunk smell immediately. (The exact proportions don't matter, but can found on the Internet. The hydrogen peroxide oxidizes the mercaptans that make skunk spray stink to the corresponding disulfides, which have essentially no vapor pressure. The dishwashing liquid helps to solubilize the resulting disulfides, while the sodium bicarbonate buffers the pH of the whole concoction. One of our pups got sprayed a month ago, and stunk to high heaven. My wife couldn't believe that the problem was dealt with in a minute, and that marrying a chemist actually hadn't been that bad a move after all.)

255 #205: Back in the 90s, collectible card games were everywhere, in every genre. Fantasy, sci-fi, vampires, werewolves, samurai, superheroes... pretty much anything you wanted was out there somewhere.

I don't know about now.

Frankly, a lot of those CCGs sucked, and had nothing like MTG's staying power.

One sure sign that a game sucked, IMO, was if it was impossible to have a come-from-behind victory. I played a few games like that. One of my biggest disappointments in the CCG business was Heresy. The cards were gorgeous; tarot-sized, with many of them painted by Brom. The concept was angels and demons forming up into mixed legions in the Apocalypse.

How could you go wrong with that? Well, the gameplay sucked. Once an opponent started coming out ahead, it was impossible to catch up. All you could do once you realized you were behind was delay your opponent's victory.

That Waffle House Index is actually pretty typical of such short-hand indices that are used to guage situations where info is scarce.

In some of the more raucous parts of the former USSR in the 90s, where we were always looking for ways to assess the state of the "economy" and the populace, etc, the "banana test" was one of these.

If one of the ubiquitous road-side stands selling cigs/booze/European candy bars had bananas hanging over the counter, then that told us "commerce" was still fairly active, transport from the relevant ports was happening, etc.

304 #239: My experience has been a little different from that.

I'm finding that the gender roles as far as who wants sex, and when, have reversed.

Women now want sex right away once they think they sort of like you, as abortion-on-demand means they don't need to worry about consequences. It's men who have to be careful, now, because it's too easy for her to put you on the hook for child support even if it's not actually your kid that she squeezes out. Or, if you're still in college, she can accuse you of rape and get you thrown out of school just for looking at her funny.

And this "Yes means yes" bullshit... a man who asks for permission to continue at each step of the process will not get laid, because women do not want to play "Mother, May I?" in the sack. And so, with the standards of proof colleges everywhere are adopting, the mere fact that you as a male got laid by a female means you're guilty of rape on today's college campus. All that remains in question is whether or not she decides to report you for it.

Fuck that. No wonder so many young men today would rather play video games and watch porn than date.

Magazine ban - CA has had a ban on "high capacity" (greater than 10 round) mags for some time. Previously owned (in CA) and law enforcement exempted.

So what's new in LA? I guess I could always go look it up on Calguns.net, but I have not had the stomach to look at the legal section there for some time.

Many people like to point to the great "victories" in gun rights in recent years, but fail to take into account 1) the worst states are getting worse in their abuses and restrictions 2) the lawlessness that now increasingly defines the US (institutional, top-down, governmental, systematic - not street chaos) is showing up in this area as well. Localities, states, and federal courts basically saying "f**k off" to SCOTUS over Heller/MacDonald.

Back when I was their age, bell bottoms and shoulder length hair (not powdered wigs, which had just gone out of fashion) were fashionable. When those went out of fashion, we threw out the bell bottoms (yay!) and got haircuts. No problem.

Hat, I know many have made this observation since this began, but I sure as heck hope that the CMP group has distributed these videos, has done the legal homework on "distribution under stress" i.e. via third parties, and that no court orders will have any effect.

Not that it matters. Yes, yes, yes - NONE of this is new, the country has lived in a Soviet-style information vacuum (on select topics) for a long time, and it has grown to be extreme in recent years. But.

The "press" will - hell, already has - "spiked" this story. Funny, in the old days, that term and concept actually applied. A hot story would run - unless it was "spiked" for some reason.

Now, the entire premise, the entire framework, is radically different. The "press" simply does not/will not "report" facts, hot stories, gigantic blockbuster stories, that they want to hide from the LIVs and HDVs (NPR listeners - High Disinformation Voters).

360 Magazine ban - CA has had a ban on "high capacity" (greater than 10 round) mags for some time.

Tilikum, yep, that's what I tried to say - grandfathered in the 10+ mags owned in CA at time the law took effect. I think. Wasn't here at the time.

But in any case the 10-round limit is a well-established feature of the gun world in CA. It is, of course - and like 95% of the dozens of gun laws on the state books - utterly ridiculous, and with no possible material effect on public safety or anything else. Just stupid harassment of the citizenry.

Even though I'm fairly new to gun ownership (had exposure and fun with them when very young, but lived in a stupid gun-hostile eastern city for many years thereafter), gotta say the situation with CA gun laws is sort of a good proxy for my alienation from the citizenry and country.

It makes you come to terms with the fact that most of your neighbors and friends, out of ignorance and bigotry, are fine with a state govt. running rampant with stupid, unconstitutional harrassment that limits your freedom, or even endangers you and restricts your most fundamental right of self-defense. It's far from the only thing like this, but it's very concrete, and very dramatic. America is a mindset, not (unenforced) lines on a map. WAS a mindset. 385 Just popped back in for a few minutes before I call it a night. Three things:

1) Waffle House: Love that place. And they are (usually) a very well oiled machine. There's a great IAMA on Reddit somewhere from several weeks ago done by a Waffle House cook. Very informative, with tidbits like what kind and how the server arranges condiment packs on the plate indicates the customer's order.

2) Snakes: Killed a timber rattler this weekend. Damn thing was in the road (so I ran over it) but it was about forty yards from the horses' run-in shelter. That's a vet bill I don't need.

3) Tattoos: I have two, but they are both fairly discrete (one on a shoulder, one on an ankle); if I'm in the office, you'd never know I had them. Both are for significant phases of my life, not some random, trendy crap. My advice to guys wanting to get a tattoo when I was in the military was, "Don't get anything that you'll be embarrassed to show your grandkids." Some followed that advice, some didn't. Told that to one guy fresh out of Great Lakes. He assured me that his new tat would be totally relevant for the rest of his life. He got the logo for "Mortal Combat" put on his chest (*facepalm*). He's a Chief now, incidentally.

And with that, I bid you all a good night.

Tilikum (continuing with the pinch-myself-where-am-I alienation ramble), it's reached the point where I simply would not take any firearms when visiting friends in San Francisco, not that there would generally be any reason to anyway.

When I go to Reno for skiing (up the hill in the Sierras) I take a Mosin, usually, as there is a great county range up there that's perfect for my "off" day (x-c skiing is not something one does day after day w/out a break). Nevada, no problem.

Thing is, I love the central coast, and there's a great range complex up near Morro Bay I'd love to use next time we're up there wine tasting and hiking. Going through LA is not a big deal. Most of my favorite food stopsare in decent areas close to the freeway (Little Saigon, Little Osaka).

Tilikum, I've got similar (but obviously different) sort of "perspective" stresses to your mother's.

I spent quite a bit of time in totalitarian countries, and fighting them (morally, politically, "coldly"). And then trying to help the transition for some that had thrown off (at least some of) their shackles.

Too many painful anecdotes and crushingly ironic situations to relate here. But here, unlike most of these other places, there was a baseline - a very high one. The America we lived most of our lives in. We can do the side/side, without help or research.

435 Tilikum (continuing with the pinch-myself-where-am-I alienation ramble), it's reached the point where I simply would not take any firearms when visiting friends in San Francisco, not that there would generally be any reason to anyway.

Zombie, you're wrong.

English is ultimately what native English speakers actually speak. The fact that you haven't heard the 'set foot' version for years is a pretty strong sign sign that it's on its way out and will eventually an become archaic usage, and the 'stepped foot' version is well on its way to becoming the standard one. Idioms are typically arbitrary set phrases anyway so there really are no right or wrong forms - just standard and non-standard usages. The only languages that stay 'pure' and 'correct' are ones that one actually speaks anymore.

And if using 'stepped' versus 'set' truly makes you depressed, well - I'll be honest here - that's just weird.

I have spoken with my 19 year old daughter about this general topic. She has confirmed that the vast majority of guys her age are clueless pussies that would need to call AAA to change a tire or jump a car when dead. She has no time or patience for them, as she can do both.

The unfortunate thing here is because of this she is dating a 27 year old guy who can do all of this and more, but is still an insufferable Leftist prick, IMO.

I learned my lesson early-on when I picked up our dates and mine said, (in a remarkably condescending tone), "This is your car?"

It was 1988 and I drove a '73 Plymouth Scamp.

I asked her if she still wanted me to buy her dinner.

After two more "dates", we hated each-other.

Just a few years ago, my double-date buddy ran into her. (She was Hotter n' Hades.) She asked how I was and told him that she felt bad about being such a bitch.

497 460 Posted by: zombie at July 30, 2015 01:13 AM (jBuUi)

Posted by: Maetenloch at July 30, 2015 01:36 AM (wqVD1)

It's easier to see with an expression like "toe the line". There's a lot of history about scratching a line in the dirt and having people arrayed against it -- where "tow the line" is just a silly way of saying "obey" with too many syllables. With "toe the line", you get a visceral feel for an arbitrary, but obvious, test -- and someone waiting just offstage who both set the rule and will be the judge. "Tow the line" might as well be "toh the lime" for all the sense it makes.

Words need to mean something, not just random phonemes from which the listener gathers the speaker's point in spite of the actual language used.

It's why my back goes up when someone characterizes a murder as an "execution," or "assassination." The state executes people (or used to); sometimes people get killed "execution-style," but they are NOT executed. And if they're not political figures, they are NOT assassinated.

To use either term in those contexts in as nonsensical as to say someone was "disemboweled," or "decapitated," when he was in fact shot. It's just an illiterate's way of striving for an intensified version of "murdered."

From my understanding of it, he bought a permit from the government of Zimbabwe. Well, right there, he was dealing with organized crime; the government of Zim-bob is not legitimate. Now whether he was a party to luring the critter out of the reserve, where it was "protected" into the "bush" where it was "fair game" is not known. but given that Cecil was something of a celebrity lion, it's kind of unlikely for a would-be lion hunter to not know it by sight. And this dentist had a previous run-in with game laws, having shot a black bear in Wisconsin outside of a legal hunting area, and transporting the carcass into the legal hunting area before tagging it. Got fined $3000 for that. So, a guy who has record of playing fast and loose with game laws.

Having said that, they are just animals. Give the dumb fuck a lifetime ban on hunting anything, but don't destroy his entire life.

Whenever I use Excel or Word I still have to go searching through all those stupid fucking tabs at the top that were right there easy to see and use for the decade+ before they went to Office 2007. "Just Works" is where Linux usually goes sideways. I reaslly don't wan't to spend 1/2 hour looking for drivers for common stuff. I haven't really tried to use it in a practical, every-day way yet. I have found that I can't get drivers for my favorite peripherals, my Logitech keyboard and mouse. They work but the assignable buttons don't. It's minor, but that's the kinda thing that'll throw me off. I like my stuff the way I like it, dammit.

Same reason I went back to FF after PaleMoon wouldn't play nice with a few add-ons that I consider game-changers.

Growing up in Canada, we all heard the story of the elderly Indian woman who killed an attacking grizzly with a .22, because that's the only weapon she had at hand.

Shot placement is the key. A .22 in the eyeball goes right into the brain, and bounces around a bunch. That get's 'er done.

Having said that, if you are going hunting for grizzlies, it would behoove you to pack a weapon with a bit more punch, because being able to make that eyeball shot under stress isn't a guaranteed certainty.

Well, on the one hand, you have unsportsmanlike hunting (at best) or outright poaching (at worst), involving one rich white hunter, and some (black) native guides. No vast conspiracy.

On the other hand, you have an organized conspiracy to market human body parts, taken from human babies killed before birth, for profit, with the yet-to-be-proven, but likely to be, corollary that the women given those abortions were coached or browbeaten into delaying the procedure until such time as the organs were more marketable.

Was cursed from birth with a corkscrew cock

So he spent his life in a fateful hunt

Well he found that lass, but his mirth turned dread

633 They showed a clip of him giving an interview en Espanol (of course) interspersed with clips of overly dramatic scenes from, what looked like, one of those Spanish channel soap operas. Pretty funny.

Then Ann basically says, "look, he loves to try and impress everyone with his ability to speak Spanish, he's lived in Mexico, married to a Mexican, bitches about how his kids aren't treated fairly as a Mexican, why the hell is he even living here and not in his beloved Mexico."

Pretty sure Rupert Murdoch, Carl Rove, Brit Hume, and all the Bushie rump swabs on the channel will now have her banned for bashing their precious.

634 I've lost seven former soldier friends of mine to suicide due to the fact that they thought no one gave a shit.

My baby bro died after living one day after he was born. He would have been 44 years old today.

Yet both my mom and sis are cheerleaders for Hillary!.

Neither of them want anything to do with me...though they felt soooo fucking good to send care packages to me while I was in Iraq between 2003-2009.

I love them both...I just really...really dislike them.

671 A word of explanation.....I had 10 computers running when I got a polymorphic malware dropped on me -- one that can attack other computers on the same network. Accordingly, I've been treating each computer as compromised.

I've pulled all their disks for data recovery, and I'm looking to get things back to normal....but I'm using a bunch of half-assed shit and spare parts....and the keyboard I'm using right now doesn't have a forward slash (AKA "virgule") or question mark. I can get them if I stab a hole with a q-tip.

Huh.

Never tried it on the phone. I'll d/l it now. I've been using CCleaner since way back when it was still "Crap Cleaner" including the registry cleaner and I've not once managed to break stuff with it. Seems pretty idiot-proof.

It's irritating to disable all cookies so it's a nice middle-ground. I can choose the ones I want to keep but wipe out all the rest in a clean. Not perfect but at least I can still keep some site settings while not leaving a trail of where I've been with every server in the universe.

That, Adblock Plus and BitDefender seem to do me well despite my distinct lack of click hygiene.

Too little credit is given AdBolcvk Plus when it's suggested as just a way to stop ads.

I don't even run NoScript but AdBlock keeps so much shit from even making it to my browser it serves as much more of a "safe-surfing" tool than just a convenience thing.

Same. Started little league in '86, but didn't really follow a major league team up 'til then.

One of the neighbors, who was here for college, got a job working with the Mets, and got us tickets to see a game. He had our family be welcomed on the scoreboard during the game, got hooked on the team.

Problem was... live in MA. That was awkward when it came to World Series time, but I was little (not even 7 yet) and didn't really care for home team loyalty.

724 That report on Virgin's Spaceship Two doesn't really surprise me. Despite the many shortcoming of today's NASA, one thing they've seemingly done well is a shitload of training. Years of training.

While I do believe that private enterprise will bring tremendous innovation to the market faster than government ever would, I also realize that private industry is designed to make a profit and long, drawn out, seemingly redundant training is not cost-efficient if it can be avoided. Really, it can't be avoided, but bean counters do not always see it that way.

After all, next year's bonuses have to be earned THIS year.

Never talk down to a tank girl,
For tank girls aren't notably dim.

But never talk down to a tank girl
So long as you value your life.

Strangely, I'm beginning to feel some sympathy for the Murdering Dentist. Not that he's not 17 kinds of jerk for what he did, but he's generating more Outraged Outrage from the Usual Suspects (the MFM, professional lefty weepers, etc.) than the dude who shot up that theater in Denver. WTF are people thinking? Where's the outrage against Zimbabwe? Do you think those Sweet Little Kiddies weeping over "Cecil" even knew the damn lion existed a week ago?

Nowadays, the severity of the crime is determined by the mileage the Special Snowflakes can get out of it.
