Unfortunately, I think it's back because we're in a similar emotional state as a country, except this time everything is *worse*.

Story time: I had a proto-libertarian insight on Nantucket before I self-identified as such.

I was sitting on a beach naked (it's legal near Surfside) with my fiancée, and smoking a joint. It was just a heavenly sensation to get high and tumble in the salt water and dry out on shore.

It occurred to me that what I was doing was illegal almost everywhere but it felt wonderful and I wasn't hurting anybody. Hence, proto-libertarian.

30 Another great art selection! Whenever RDB puts up a new artist, I always do a GIS on the artist's name to see his other stuff, and bookmark it. I love curation that picks good but lesser-known artists.

I wish our local classical music station would do the same; every time I tune in, it's either the Brandenburg Concertos, Bolero, Les Preludes, or Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, which are all fine music, but jeez, once in a while can't we hear something we've never heard before?

BTW, the best way to prevent road-rage is to listen to classical in the car.

64 Greetings:

Things have been a bit weird whale-wise along my part of the Cali Coast. We had a weirdly overcast Spring this year and I'm guessing that that contributed to the lateness and continuation of the whale migration. Usually, it runs March to June but there were a couple jus moseying along yesterday.

The male member of a couple I was passing pointed them out to my well jaded eye, so I responded, as I often do, with the classic, "And me without my harpoon." which kind of caught the guy between the rock of my wit and the hard place of his wife's look of absolute disgust.

Accepting her challenge, I immediately went into my History of American Whaling lecture, reminding the couple of the bravery of those sea-farers who went forth from New Bedford, Nantucket, and Martha's (pre-Clinton/Obama) Vineyard and how they (well, the survivors) brought back the oil that lit the lamps of a much darker (light-wise) America. And, she being a distaff member of the species, I thought it appropriate to mention that architectural wonder of New England's geography known as "The Widow's Walk" on which previous distaff species members spent some of their time watching for the return of their current Salty Dog.

And, then, I broke into my air guitar version of Mountain's "Nantucket Sleighride" the explanation of which I had included in the aforementioned lecture.

Ahhh, Cali's a wonder. And some of the people too.

118 On top of the early beginnings of Bill's sexcapades stories, Hilldogger is also the subject of more bribery and corruption stories today. Get used to it, Democrats, 'cause these stories will be never-ending.

Even Time magazine is getting queasy about her falling polling numbers, especially about the 57% of America thinks she's a crook (!!).

Camille Paglia says she thinks Hillary is dropping out soon. Personally, I think she won't go until she tries to do another 60 Minutes type mea culpa interview. Can't wait for that!

Not being from those parts, earlier this year I was having lunch at the Whale Watcher Cafe (or something like that) near Big Sur and sure enough, a whale came along, which gave me the opportunity to yell, "Thar she blows!" It was a crowd pleaser. The best part about it was a French group that had to have it explained to them in French, then I got a delayed laugh about a minute later.

126 Maybe I'm overthinking this, but you know that alcoholism runs in both sides of Biden's family, and he is a teetotaler, right? Doing whiskey ads would seem ... problematic, at best?

(Which makes the sad part of all his "Joe being Joe" antics that he doesn't even have being drunk as a possible excuse.)
