50 Anyone been following that story from Montana, featuring Jesus Deniz who shot and killed the two parents, and then shot the daughter in the back and head after the family stopped to help him on the side of the road? Turns out that Mr. Deniz, who has also been referred to in some stories as Mendoza, (who knows what his real name is) was given legal status in the U.S. in 2013. He claims to be 18, but his mug shot looks more like mid-30's. He was previously arrested for a burglary, but released, like all these scum usually are. The Obama administration is trying to keep a tight lid on any info about him, but he's probably one of Obama's "Dreamers" -- doing the burglaries and multiple murders that Americans won't do.

56 Today I accidentally grabbed the Peet's Maj. Dickason's whole beans instead of ground and was halfway to the checkout when I noticed. Swung by appliances and found a $17 Mr. Coffee blade grinder. As enjoyable as ground Peet's has always been, this cheapest of cheap grinders produced an even more flavorful cup; so flavorful that I'm now enjoying it reheated and black, which is a first.

So now that I'm sold on this introductory level of grinding, it's got me thinking: everyone I know who grinds coffee says no matter what bean you use, you'll get better taste from burr vs. blade.

But would burr grinders make that much of a noticeable difference in taste for fairly simple folk like us? Wife and I are definitely not coffee snobs. Folgers Gourmet Supreme is our usual and Peet's is an occasional treat...as coffee drinkers go, we're squares.

PS Usually heavy cream and no sugar, if that might be a factor.

Besides this 10 part mini series by Netflix called Narco, they are also making a movie with Tom Cruise called Mena about Barry Seal.

Seal was a pilot and "delivery specialist" for the cartels. He was arrested, snitched, did some jail time, was ordered into a halfway house by the judge which was a death sentence. The judge didnt care. First day showing up at the halfway house, the cartel wasted him.

My CRV has been very reliable, but the OEM tires did wear out faster than I expected. On the plus side, the battery lasted 52 months in a climate it was rated to last for 44 months.

GAFIA (along with derived form such as gafiate and gafiation) is a term used in science fiction fandom. It began as an acronym for "Getting Away From It All"

When fans say they're gafiating, it means they intend to put some distance between themselves and fandom. This can be either a temporary or a long-term separation.

Although, technically this might be closer to the mark:

A closely related term is "Fafia" or "Fafiation", from the acronym for "Forced away from it all." To fafiate is to put aside fannish things, not because one prefers to do so, but rather because one is obliged to do so. Usually it's a matter of not having enough time. Finishing one's dissertation, having children, or accepting a demanding new job are among the commoner reasons for fafiation.

CAC mentioned he had job and kid issues.

Subarus as my mother had them and they were wonderful for her. Anybody

I have a 2003 Baja. Buy all your tires at the same time, the AWD doesn't like tires of different diameters and will burn out the center drive if they aren't all within a few mm of each other. The newer ones use a different system so I don't think it's as bad with them. Parts are expensive and you won't generally find them in junkyards, of course the upside to that is they don't break very often and they run a long time (my Baja has close to 190K on it). Get the timing belt replaced every 105K miles, it's easier to take them to the dealer. You can do it yourself but it's a pain in the ass. Check your head gaskets frequently, the 4 cylinders have a rep for leaking coolant or oil; the newer ones (SOHC) will run like that for a while because they don't open a path into the cylinder, just to the outside of the head but the older ones (DOHC) will leak into the cylinder just like a normal head gasket failure. There's some kind of stop leak crap you put into the coolant system, get the stuff from Subaru because they won't warranty repairs if you use anything else.

All of that sounds pretty bad, but really I bought mine five years ago at 103K, put a timing chain in it and ran it 50K before changing head gaskets, then ran it another 35K before having the center diff problems. Not bad for a vehicle that was over 100K when I bought it without a maintenance history log. The only other things I've put in it have been tires, one battery and a windshield.

188 "All signs of the gas price drop are now pretty much gone here in LA County."

Commiefornia has now taken the crown away from Hawaii, the former champ, for the costliest gasoline in the country. Due to:

-- A self-inflicted shortage of refineries

-- Self-inflicted finicky custom blends of "green" gasoline that can't be imported from out of state refineries

-- Fat new anti-carbon-dioxide gasoline taxes going straight into the maw of the public sector labor unions

Add to which refineries getting knocked off line and taking forever to get back on stream.

213 If you're new to grinding your own coffee beans, and you've just bought a new blade grinder, don't worry about missing out on anything at this point. You'll probably find more flavor difference from just shopping around and trying different coffee varieties, blends and roasts to keep you busy for quite a while. A different kind of grinder is something you can move on to later if you like. But let me put in a word for roasting your own coffee. You can get a nice little coffee roaster at Sweet Maria's for about $150 or so, it's about the size of your electric grinder, and the taste possibilities are ENDLESS. You won't believe the levels of flavor you can get when you roast your own beans.

The guy looks fresh off the border, imo. Creepy. Said he shot the parents because he was tired of waiting around and shot the daughter because she laughed at him.

___________________________

I've seen conflicting reports. In one story, it said DHS says he has been in the country legally since 2013. That doesn't necessarily mean he arrived here in 2013; he could have just received a green card in 2013, thanks to Obama's illegal "DACA" or "Dreamer" program.

Looking at his booking photo, how old do you think he is? My guess would be around 35. But the "Dreamers" were not eligible unless they were under 31, so lots of them lied about their ages. This guy was previously arrested in the U.S. on a burglary charge. I bet if somebody checked, they'd find he has a criminal record in Mexico. But of course, the Obama administration isn't going to do that. They've already warned local Montana LE about releasing any information on this thug. Can't have the public getting up in arms about the massive crime wave being conducted by all these illegal alien criminals that Obama is flooding the country with.

I am continually dismayed at how parochial, limited and intellectually un-curious media people, and liberals in general as well, are.

I mean there are jokes about not knowing diddly if you have never had to remove x from y(horrible place) with your teeth, but honestly, when your world view has clearly been edited so you don't see anything that might challenge or offend you, how more walled in could you be by bricks and bars and alligator filled moats?

Posted by: Kindltot - the heat is concentrating my bile at July 31, 2015 10:16 PM (3pRHP)

245 I haven't seen this mentioned here yet, but in somewhat breaking news from Allan West, Redstate, and CNN, Center for Medical Progress leader David Daleiden says that StemExpress is trying to suppress the release involving them because StemExpress sometimes receives fully intact aborted babies.

Apparently their concern is that this might be construed as evidence that babies are born alive, killed or allowed to die, then shipped off for experiments.

Daleiden also says that CMP will release an additional 8 to 10 videos.

http://bit.ly/1MCUNrT

So what's the over/under that Planned Parenthood and StemExpress actually talk about babies bring born alive? Yesterday's video seemed to leave that possibility open.
