6 Weekend Sports Update.
Dragged over from the dead thread

Baltimore weekend roundup...
Three dead
ten wounded
One stabbed to death.

Running it through the population corrector, Chicago would need

12 dead
43 wounded
4 stabbed to death

Actual Chicago performance?

7 dead
28 wounded
zero death by stabbing

Fighting above it's weight..
Baltimore wins again!!

While I don't agree with every word -- lots of 'em, but not all of 'em -- it was indeed a righteous rant. Didn't pay too much attention to it when it went up yesterday, as I don't know who "Rick Wilson" is and weirddave didn't give me much of a hint as to why I should care what Wilson thinks. But wd did rip off a sharp retort to him....

For what it's worth (the bidding starts at "zero"), my own take on the Trump Phenomenon is much simpler: when you're drowning in bullshit, even an unattractive, stinky life preserver offers some hope for survival. It didn't HAVE to be Trump; could easily have been Walker, Jindal, Perry, or even Kasich, but each of them wimped out and toed the Good Politics line.

End of story.

I mean, think about it: who the hell really wants to vote for Trump? Nobody, that's who. But if he's still standing on election day, and the Game of Politics candidates are Jeb! and Shrillery, I will enthusiastically vote for Teh Donald.

There's nothing more to it. Poppin' Fresh can't figure that out, and neither can any of the other Nattering Nabobs of Conservatism.

49 One of the things that has to absolutely be brought to the front in addition to illegal immigration, is what is now official policy of the U.S. to diminish the white population and turn the US into an AmeriMexico shit hole.

This is a direct result of the '65 immigration over haul, thank you very much Ted Kennedy to SOB.

We must severely reduce legal immigration and end chain migeation and re-orient our immigration policy back towards the 1st world and away from the 3rd world.

Passing laws that exempt themselves and their cronies, but everyone else must obey.

And just flat out lie to the American people. Over and over, lie and more lies.

It's been apparent for a long time what was going on but now it's blatant and in your face.

We have politicians at the highest levels, VP, Governors, mayors, senators outright saying, practically orgasmically, that the US is going to become a Latin country.

We have illegal aliens trolling GOP presidential candidates, we have illegal aliens making anti-white propaganda documentaries with impunity and hardly any push back.

This must stop.

Well, I understand the Constitution's writers a bit. But they certainly had no idea how corrupted a cesspool politics would become, or how desperately awful full-time State governments would be. Look, for example, at Illinois. Or California. Giving Legislatures in those states the right to directly add two more hogs to the trough doesn't strike me as a Good Thing.

The Founders, bless them, knew that the system the devised would only be as good as the integrity and character of those who swore the oath, and the citizenry that elected them. They could only put in so many firewalls. They knew history and that the republic they founded was "the exception" to history, and that sadly history - even here - would ultimately repeat itself.

Oh well. I guess I can slouch towards the mass grave but one never knows what the future brings. Therefore, hope.

So Mitch McConnel, Harry Reid, et. al., are paragons of virtue? I think you could count the number of non-corrupt (or only sort-of corrupt) Senators on a blind butcher's fingers.

The point was not to avoid corruption, which I'm pretty sure the founders were wise enough to know was going to come no matter what. The point was to pit the House against the Senate. A given Representative was supposed to look out for the interests of a few hundred to a few thousand people- it was expected that Representatives would advocate things good for their local constituency. The Senate was supposed to look out for the interests of the State governments.

Yes, some States were very corrupt. That's different from today... how, exactly? How is modern Chicago different from the days of Tamany Hall?

So without any real benefit, we lost the ability of the States to speak up for _their_ rights in the Federal Government.

133 Not that I have any faith in the voting public these days. But better them than members of the Political Class.

The
17th very badly unbalanced the system. The people already have their
Representatives, the Senate was to be a counterbalance by the corporate
State interests.

Instead, turning the Senate into more powerful,
less accountable Representatives increased the weight of the public and
diminished the balancing forces of State interests. A big blow to
Federalism.

If anything, the Senators are now MORE powerful than
the states they represent. They're not accountable to them, only to the
masses, and they're redundant as Representatives, not
counterbalancing. They serve longer, have more perks, more power (one
of 100 rather than one of 435), and exercise large ratification powers
that were supposed to be representative of the corporate States.

Now they have all the extra power and perks and just have to fool the mob once every six years, unlike facing recall at the hands of the State government that could hold them to account for making the kind of backroom deals Mitch specializes in.

1/5 of El Salvador's total population now living in the U.S.; 1/3 of Mexico's total population now living in the U.S.; Florida being overrun with Puerto Ricans fleeing the economic destruction wrought by Democratic policies on their island . . .

Where does it end? As the Titanic survivors learned, you can't let everybody on the lifeboat when it's already in danger of sinking, or everybody on the boat dies. We have record-high levels of debt, record-high numbers of people getting food stamps, welfare, disability, etc. Record-low numbers of people actually holding jobs. We can't afford to allow unlimited immigration, especially from poor third-world countries whose immigrants have little education and no job skills. And yet, our corrupt and dishonest federal government has laid out the "welcome" mat to the entire world, has encouraged millions of new third-world illegal aliens to enter the U.S., and is even flying in more third-world illegal aliens at our expense.

Meanwhile, the numbers of crimes being committed in the U.S. by illegal aliens is simply staggering -- and all but ignored by the MSM. During Obama's term of office (up to 2014), more than 600,000 crimes, including nearly 3,000 murders, were committed in Texas alone by illegal aliens who already had criminal records in the U.S. -- and probably hundreds of thousands, if not millions, more crimes were committed by newly-arrived illegals, who didn't yet have their fingerprints in the system. The federal crime statistics are similar; illegal aliens represent a hugely disproportionate share of the defendants arrested and convicted of a whole range of federal crimes.
