Since the US Media is Embargoing the Fetal Organ Sales Story, Here's the French Version

The second largest newspaper in France, Le Fig, front-pages this and posts it as its seventh item -- mostly after news about Greece and Prime Minister Hollande's new goof of "autocelebration," where this penguin keeps talking about how "audacious" he is.

So it's big news in France.

Just not in the country it actually happened in.

Sale of Fetal Organs: The Video that Embarrassed America's Planned Parenthood

Par Eugénie Bastié

updated 15/07/2015 à 16:34

Tricked by pro-life agitators on hidden camera, an official of Planned Parenthood details the collection of and trafficking in [organs] has exposed the organization, accused of selling fetal aborted fetal organs for research. American conservatives demanded an investigation.

By the way, the call the agitators "militants," but that's not a biased term. The French always use that word, neutrally -- anyone who militates for a cause (whether the paper favors it or not) is a militant.

I could change every instance of "militant" to "supporter" or "agitator" but whatever.

The video stirred up the American "pro-life" groups (militants against abortion). Filmed by hidden camera, the images show an official of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA, the American equivalent of our own Planning Familial) speaking of aborted fetal organs that the organization sells to clinics for medical research.

The video was published by the Center for Medical Progress, a group of activists against abortion. Two militants passed themselves off as representatives of a biotech research firm and filmed by hidden camera their encounter with Dr. Deborah Nucatola, official of Planned Parenthood, in July 2014, in a California restaurant.

Is that "2014" a typo? If so, it's theirs, not mine.

This doctor, between mouthfulls of salad and two gulps of red wine, speaks of the price of organs ("between 30 and 100 dollars" per "specimen") and makes reference to the fact that sometimes the fetus does not come out in one piece but [rather] dismembered. "We've become very good at getting the heart, the lungs, the livers, because, we know, and we try to not crush these parts of the body," the practitioner described sordidly. And of recounting in minute detail the best way of extracting the organs of a fetus intact during an abortion.

Sordidly is their word; or, maybe, "squalidly."

"Many people want the hearts. Yesterday, someone asked me for some lungs. Some of them want limbs. That, that's easy. I don't know that what they use this for, I guess that they want the muscle," she explained.

The American criminal code states that "commercial traffic in parts of a body of an aborted baby is punishable by 10 years in prison and a fine of $500,000." The PPFA has stated that they do not make any profit, but that it is reimbursed for the costs of transportation and overhead. By contrast, Planning Familial in France does not handle anything but prevention (birth control) and communication, while Planned Parenthood (American) manages clinics and medical centers which perform abortions.

American conservatives rose up against "the sale of the pieces of babies."

The video made for much chatter because it noted the usage of ultrasounds in abortion, which permit the keeping of the fetus intact, which can sometimes, according to the "pro-life" militants, lead to partial-birth abortions, considered by the law as infanticide.

The spokesman of Planned Parenthood defended it in a communique, citied by the New York Times, "In some of our medical centers, we help the patients who want to give the organs to scientific research, and we do so with the consent of the patients and under the highest ethical and legal criteria."

"There is no profit for the giving of the organs whether to the patients or to Planned Parenthood," he added.

This was not enough to settle the controversy. Gloria Feldt, president of PPFA reacted in person on ABC had herself [previously] declared that "this seems totally inappropriate," and that she asked "for prosecutions," if such acts have indeed occurred.*

American conservatives immediately reacted in accusing Planned Parenthood of "selling pieces of babies." Planned Parenthood is financed for a third [of its budget] by the federal government and the Republicans are looking for a way to shut it down.

By way of response [retaliation], Republican leaders postponed a vote in the House of Representatives concerning a grant for breast cancer research, the group receiving the grant one which works with Planned Parenthood. A Republican candidate, former governor Rick Perry, characterized the video as "recalling disturbingly the penchant of this organization to make profits on the tragedy of the destruction of human life."

As to Bobby Jindal, the Republican governor of Louisiana, he ordered an investigation into the actions of Planned Parenthood in his state, where the organization plans to open a clinic, at New Orleans. The project is valued at 4 million dollars, and his been froze during the investigation. "This video of an official of Planned Parenthood discussing the systematic collection and trafficking of parts of the human body is shocking and horrible," declared the governor, who has also asked the FBI to look into any current criminal activity by the organization.

...

So, it's news in other places. Just not in America, the land of free speech and the free press.

* This seems to be a badly-written and erroneous sentence. Gloria Feldt has addressed organ trafficking before -- but back in 2000. The quotes are from a 20/20 interview way back then, not in the current contretemps.

I suppose they just meant that even Gloria Feldt has called for prosecutions, in the past, were this true.

But they kind of garbled it, and I don't think it's my bad translating skills at work here.

They just don't make the "in the year 2000" thing clear here at all.

I'm feeeling gray.

One. Again, why is this is a big deal, if aborted fetuses aren't lives/persons/etc., then what am I missing? If "choice" makes any logical or moral sense, then what is the problem?

Two. Youngsters and the less worldly won't know, but one of the signal facts of life in the former USSR and other eastbloc countries: you depended on *foreign* sources for the *real* news about what was happening in your own country.

And now, America shares in the degradation of being in this position - not just on this story. But as with so many other benchmarks of our degradation that are searingly sharp for those with experience or knowledge of the great evil the US and the west once faced down and defeated, it probably simply doesn't register with many today.

96 Sally Satel, a psychiatrist and resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute who received a kidney from a friend in 2006, says: "Despite decades and decades of public education about the virtues of organ donation, the waiting list just gets longer, and the time to transplantation just gets longer. ... It's past time to face the fact that altruism is just not enough.

Many people need more of an incentive to give. And that's why we need to be able to compensate people who are willing to give a kidney to a stranger, to save a life. ...

We are not talking about a classic commercial free-for-all, or a free market, or an eBay system. We're talking about a third-party payer. For example, today you could decide to give a kidney. You'd be called a Good Samaritan donor. ...

The only difference in a model that I'm thinking about is where you go and give your organ, and your retirement account is wired $40,000, end of story."

It will eventually. But it will be met with much whining. I remember there was some story that they did not want to cover. It may have been ACORN. Anderson cooper whined about being forced to cover it. They hate when they have to report news that they have been kicking and screaming is not news and the public ends up going "fuck you yes it is."

198 The left took the church shooting by the racist guy and pressed pressed pressed the narrative in an hysterical frenzy until the successfully got Confederate flags banned nationwide. When they see an opening, they down just dive through it hoping to get a first down, the run and keep going all the way to the end zone and then out the exit and circle the stadium a few times before running all the way to the opposing team's home field and then they run up and down there unopposed a few times scoring touchdown after touchdown.

That is the extent to which the Left exploits a news cycle in their favor.

The right will never get a new story more in their favor than this one. They need to learn from the Left and press this relentlessly.

If the pro-lifers can't win the national debate over abortion right now, in the upcoming weeks, then they will never win it.

Go big. Get Planned Parenthood shut down. Boycott every business, person, nonprofrit or entity that has anything to do with them.

The French and Germans, etc., can run with this story because they outlaw mid- and late-term abortion. It doesn't threaten their own system. The Brit and Dutch mediacrats, OTOH, might not want to mention "parts."
It could make people recognize that a 7-mo fetus is not a clump of cells and actually has...parts.

223 How can any human not look at this story and reel in horror?

I am pro-life and anti-abortion. I vote this way. I raised heck to the head of a denomination that it was not right for even a fraction of my tithes to go to PP. So, of course, I am horrified and nauseous at the thought of this story (I cannot watch the video as I know enough from the little I have read).

I try to put myself in the heads of those who have had abortions (I realize I can't, but I try as I do know someone who had an abortion in college because she and husband could not afford the baby...and she remained infertile when she tried with another husband, unsure if this is why, but I also feel she regretted aborting a chance to have a child).

I think of those who have no regrets and those who do. One would think even those in the "no regret" column would not like this one little bit, this "clump of cells" which, suddenly, have organs to sell. These PP people who fear ultrasounds to show the baby moving or sucking his or her thumb, or the heart beating...which might change the mother's mind, ya know? The brainwashing of "clumps of cells" has been very thorough. How are they going to spin this? They only sell body parts after x weeks gestation? But, wait..."clumps of cells."

While the MSM can fight this all they want, I do hope those who fight against this infanticide fight harder...and harder than The Won did in Illinois when he did not listen to a RN discussing failed abortions and live babies put to die in utility rooms.

Good for France for printing this. I was in Paris when entire families marched against gay marriage. There is hope there, granted swiftly becoming outnumbered, but traditional Catholic France is still there.

248 Supposedly, this is only Act 1.

These folks might be following the Breitbart model of throwing something out into the public eye, seeing how Planned Parenthood reacts and then releasing more tapes to answer those objections.

This issue could become too big for even the propaganda press to ignore.

Yes.
Of course, it's a lot easier to whip up hysteria when you have the MSM's agitprop microphone firmly in your hands. It's much, much harder for the contras to do it.

Even when the MSM covers such stories, it will be couched in "rightwingers claim," "anti-abortion zealots accuse" terms.

Nevertheless, we must seize the moment and TRY.

Hell, I know pro-choicers who don't think PP should be funded by taxes. It's a much more vulnerable organization than you would think.

Good time, good times.

Sure. When this sort of discussion arises, I generally ask the individual if they regard themselves as a moral person. Inevitably they assertively insist that they are highly moral.

When I ask them where I can find a copy of the moral code to which they subscribe, they generally say it is their own personal code.

"So...", I say, "it is only necessary that you change your mind, and your 'morality' changes..., which is to say it is highly malleable, and thus no morality at all. It is just what you find convenient at the time."

257 When I was a little kid I remember being endlessly fascinated by the time lapse films on nature shows: flower sprouts breakingthrough the ground, growing, blooming, the petals opening up. Although I couldn't articulate it, it was the idea of compressed time that got to me: days or weeks or months captured in a few slow-motion seconds.Larvae transforming into catepillars, catepillars into cocoons. A butterfly emerges.

At no point do I recall the narrators of theseshows claiming that the earlier stages of growth of any given living thing they were talking aboutmade these living things somehow lessconsequential than its adult result.

So no: what we're talking about here is the live dismemberment of human beings whose flesh and bones and organs are being harvested for profit. These people areno better than those fucking Nazis who extracted and melted down the gold from Jewish teeth or rendered their fat into soap or made lampshades from their skin.

Mengele was an amateur.

258 I wonder if O'R will make this a story. He's a Catholic and this hits pretty hard. Right up his old ET days.

Fox is going to let this slide, although I will have to say the timing of the release of this was awful. Too much other news.

263 Jindal asking the FBI to investigate.

-"Sure governor, we'll get right on that. Right after we finish our investigation of you and anyone even remotely connected to you."

And I expect a FedCourt order to restart construction of the PP clinic in NOLA within the next week or so.

There will be NO investigation at the FedGov or CA state level. They'll be too busy going after the "extremists" who made the video.
