Iranians Celebrating, "Euphoric" Now That Obama Has Given Them Their Bomb

The Pakistanis similarly celebrated their bomb -- the bomb looms large in these people's minds. It is, of course, an expression of power, and a guarantee that they can run their terrorists networks without reprisal. (Note that Pakistan murdered hundreds of Indians a few years back; but India cannot attack them, because of the bomb.)

Obama has that future in mind for us.

Iranians posting across social media platforms are elated that Iran and six world powers reached a historic nuclear deal Tuesday after almost a decade of negotiations. The agreement limits Iranian nuclear activity in exchange for billions of dollars in sanctions relief.

Iranians are declaring online that the deal is a victory, posting ‎#IranWinsPeace in thousands of tweets and Instagram posts since Monday

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee states the obvious: Obama is the handmaiden of Iran's nuclear bomb.

Representative Devin Nunes, a California Republican, told me Tuesday that President Barack Obama was incorrect in asserting that the nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers will keep Iran from becoming a nuclear-armed state.

"I don't know what information the Obama administration possesses that indicates this deal will actually prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon or will cause the mullahs to reduce their support for worldwide terrorism, but it sure isn’t the same intelligence we’re seeing in the Intelligence Committee," he said. "Iran has killed hundreds of U.S. soldiers, tried to conduct a terrorist attack in the United States, and is committed to annihilating Israel. This deal will guarantee Iran the capability to carry out its clear intent."

Nunes's skepticism about the deal is supported in part by even some top military advisers and senior officials in the Obama administration. Last week in Israel, for example, General Martin Dempsey, the outgoing chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, said he expected some of the sanctions relief Iran will receive under the deal will go to supporting terrorism. James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, wrote a letter last month to Republican senators confirming that Iran continues to support terrorist groups throughout the Middle East, creating a kind of foreign legion to support its aims in Syria.

The White House has not emphasized Iran's support for terrorism in recent months. Instead, officials have stressed that most of the assets Iran would gain access to under a deal would be used to improve the country's economy. Both Dempsey and Clapper have said in recent months that a deal that limits Iran's enrichment of uranium and provides more access to its nuclear program is better than no deal at all.

One of the last few hold-ups to Obama's sell-out was the goal of having "anytime, anywhere" inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities. Team Obama dealt with that disagreement as they dealt with all previous disagreements: by caving completely and adopting the Iranian position.

Allahpundit quotes the Jerusalem Post:

Negotiators failed to meet the standard of achieving "anytime, anywhere" access that several members of the United States Congress had demanded as a part of any nuclear deal. Instead, in the event Iran objects to an IAEA request for access to a specific site, a "clock" will begin that grants the two sides 14 days to negotiate.

If that period expires without any resolution reached directly between Iran and the IAEA, the Joint Commission would have seven days to advise them on a way forward. Iran would then have three days to comply with the commission's final advice, bringing the total time on the clock to 24 days.

First sentence in Obama's speech:

Today, after two years of negotiations, the United States, together with our international partners, has achieved something that decades of animosity has not: a comprehensive long term deal with Iran that will prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

An outright lie.

Wishful thinking at best. There's nothing that *prevents* Iran from getting a bomb.

Most startling (to me) revelation from the speech:

To put that in perspective Iran currently has a stockpile that can produce up to 10 nuclear weapons.

Posted by: Bandersnatch at July 14, 2015 01:45 PM (JtwS4)

Yeah. Intelligence communities (FWIW) have been saying Iran has enough nuclear material to make 2-3 bombs for years now. I'm not surprised the number is up to 10. I'd imagine is actually much higher.

But the thing is, as Obama and Biden both assured is in the 2012 debates -- while Iran may have the MATERIALS, they don't have an ICBM, so they can't DELIVER the bomb (which isn't true, you don't need an ICBM to set off a nuke). They said their plan was stop Iran from getting the missiles.

Of course, when THAT was brought up recently the O administration said, "we're working on a nuclear deal with Iran, not a missile deal." and they're also planning on lifting arms import restrictions on Iran. So instead of having to build an ICBM, if they really want one they can buy one from Russia.

My statement on the Obama administrations bad deal with Iran:

"This deal appears to be a complete capitulation to the Iranian regime, paving the path for Iran to become a nuclear power in the foreseeable future. The President broke his promises to the American people by offering concession after concession: no snap inspections, no limits on Irans ballistic-missile force, no resolution of Irans weaponization activities, no dismantling of Irans global terror network, and no release of the American citizens being held captive in Irans prisons. Make no mistake, the lasting legacy will be the birth of a Middle East nuclear arms race, plunging the region into further instability and chaos."

Of course this is a treaty. And the Senate knows it's a treaty, which is why they voted to pre-approve the treaty before the details came out. Because if they didn't pre-approve it, they would not be able to pass it with 51 votes.

Or maybe they would, no one gives a shit what the constitution says anymore.

And SCOTUS is just another legislative body. All a SCOTUS ruling would tell us is if Kennedy is for or against a deal with Iran. And frankly I don't give a fuck how he feels on this, or any other political subject.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) praised the administration on Tuesday for reaching a final deal on Iran's nuclear program, calling it "a victory for diplomacy over saber-rattling."

"I congratulate President Obama, Secretary Kerry and the leaders of other major nations for producing a comprehensive agreement to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon", Sanders, said in a statement, adding that the deal "could keep the United States from being drawn into another never-ending war in the Middle East."

Tuesday's deal between the West and Iran, should it hold up, paves the way for new foreign investment in the country's oil fields and reopens its big, young and relatively well-off consumer market to U.S. and European companies. The doors don't open right away, but the deal could be a game changer for a number of key industries.

Energy

Tehran eventually will seek foreign help to get its aging fields pumping efficiently again. European energy producers such as Eni and Total worked in Iran before sanctions and say they're eager to return. Exxon Mobil also has a provisional green light to proceed.

Aviation

Last month in Paris, Iran's transport minister said the country's aviation industry was in the market to replace as many as 400 jets over the next 10 years, at a cost of at least $20 billion.

Consumer Goods

The deal eventually unlocks more than $100 billion of Iranian cash that has been locked in foreign bank accounts, boosting the government's buying power. Some companies, like Apple, will get their first crack at the market.

Autos

Renault and Peugeot have restarted talks with Iranian partners. But Iran loved American cars before the 1979 revolution, and U.S. auto makers could find a welcome market.

197 A few Words from President Clinton:
"This agreement is good for the United States, good for our allies, and good for the safety of the entire world. It reduces the danger of the threat of nuclear spreading in the region. It's a crucial step toward drawing North Korea into the global community.
Today, after 16 months of intense and difficult negotiations with North Korea, we have completed an agreement that will make the United States, the Korean Peninsula, and the world safer. Under the agreement, North Korea has agreed to freeze its existing nuclear program and to accept international inspection of all existing facilities.
This agreement represents the first step on the road to a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula. It does not rely on trust. Compliance will be certified by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The United States and North Korea have also agreed to ease trade restrictions and to move toward establishing liaison offices in each other's capitals. These offices will ease North Korea's isolation. "
Substitute Iran for North Korea, and well what can I say, we all know how that one turned out. It's almost word for word what President Obama just said.
Those who fail to learn from History are doomed to repeat it. And drag us all along with them into the pits of hell.

230 There is an upper limit to how large you can build a fission bomb (an A-bomb). above a certain size, the critical masses for fissionable material get to unstable to handle close to each other.

To get a really big yield, you need a fusion bomb, or as it is called, a Hydrogen Bomb. Yield is multiplied by fusion of deuterium and tritium in the bomb itself. Usually as Lithium deuteride.

Hard to tell where Iranian technology is on this. They may skip over an A-bomb completely and build H-bombs.

Agreed that the first target for Iran will be a Sunni city, like Riyahd or Doha.
Doha is the capital of Qatar, home of Al Jazeera and financing for ISIS.

I'd love to be able to ask him--if he's so sure of the negotiated safeguards to prevent such--if he would be willing to put a loaded revolver in his mouth and pull the trigger if his assurances prove false.

Is he really that dumb/ignorant/naive? I personally don't think so, and I don't believe he really cares if they eventually get their WMD. He's hell bent on destroying the world as it has been structured. There is no other conclusion.

Just exactly what kind of legacy will he have when that first mushroom cloud goes up?

AND by the way, it would have been VERY EASY for Rand to vote against it on principle. The Saudis, Turks, Qataris, and the US armed and trained the group we now know as ISIS.

It would not be a new development, nor in any way surprising, to learn that KSA and the Turks (and the US) have continued to arm and train ISIS while also fighting ISIS.

Because its a tight rope to walk. ISIS is popular among Sunnis. the Sauds and the civilian govt in Turkey do not want to get on the wrong side of the Sunni tribes across the region. Plus, they want to defeat the Shia in a proxy war (obviously). PLUS, they all hate the Persians.

BUT, of course, ISIS will target Mecca and Medina at some point. So there's that.

The 35 miles gives you time to get the hell out of dodge as soon as the collapse occurs while they are still rioting and burning.

Posted by: Count de Monet at July 14, 2015 02:28 PM (JO9+V)
Nuclear fusion is the process by which two atoms collide, forming a heavier element and converting some of their mass into energy which is released. The lighter the atoms being smashed together, the greater the energy that is released.
Therefore, hydrogen (the lightest atom) is the "fuel" of choice for fusion bombs.

Two isotopes of hydrogen, Deuterium and Tritium, are used to make it go BANG!

Deuterium is one proton, one neutron (nucleus)

Tritium is one proton, two neutrons (nucleus)

Deuterium exists in nature as about 1 part in 6000 in water. It is what was classically called "heavy water". Tritium exists in H-bombs and the Savannah River (that's a joke), and in stars as a by-product of nuclear fusion.

I wish all you guys would stop so casually talking about nuking Tel Aviv.
---------
We don't mean to come across as casual, but "nuking tel Aviv" is the likely end result of the chain of events set in motion by this shameful surrender disguised as a treaty. Iran WILL make weapons-grade uranium and plutonium, Iran WILL make weapons from those elements, Iran WILL use those weapons or give them to terrorists who will use them. It is no secret that Israel's MAD nuclear strategy means leaving no existing Muslim country (aside from whatever ISIS is right now) intact. If other Muslim nations in the Mideast decide to get nuclear weapons to counter Iranian nuclear saber-rattling, the chance that someone will get their hands on launch codes and yell "Death to Israel!" increases on an algorithmic basis.

Obummer and Kerry think they have been fair, just, and kind in letting Iran have nuclear power. Instead it is likely that millions will die in searing fire, millions more will die slowly as radiation takes its toll, and the history of human civilization in the Fertile Crescent will turn into poisonous dust that will be wafted around Asia to spread the pain further.

God is going to send every American living between the age of 20 and 80 to Perdition because of this event, since He will ask "Why did you let these vain fools destroy My children with their folly?", and we shall have no answer other than "we wanted to not be racist".

Because the initiating process includes "fusing" hydrogen atoms together to form helium. The resulting mass is less than the total of the components used. The delta mass is converted to energy and it is much more efficient than fission.

2015 sure has been one helluva bad year, not only for America but for the world. Mass murder is being committed and nobody seems to care how many mutilations, slit throats, burned or raped bodies pile up. Something truly biblical is building up in the ME and it will not leave the USA out, whatever is in store. On the homefront, it's 1 in 6 on food stamps, ghey/transgender rules the day, and secret realignment of your town and its diversity compliance will turn our communities upside down. Yeah, bad, bad year.

I'm no king Canute, and the tide ain't gonna stop for a few hundred thousand at most people with merely moderate income, scattered across a continent. No one else in the world cares, and so let them light up their own neighborhood. It;'s like race riots. Unfortunately Israel is in the neighborhood, but again, it's not like we small cohort of Americans can be the savior of a foreign sovereign state. Either they defend themselves or get irradiated.

speaking is another story: you just have to do it, preferably with a native

493 Seems to me this "deal" was done by R votes in the senate a while back. Being angry today over something done weeks ago isn't very productive. So, those senators who voted to reverse filibuster this non-treaty should have been off presidential contender lists at that time.

Ships coming from "certain" ports are given extra scrutiny when arriving at our harbors. Remember the huge backlog of ships held out in international waters off the west coast a few years ago? They needed to be inspected out at sea for some reason. I'm fine with that, and the odds of some Iranian ship just floating close enough to an American city to do huge damage with an onboard bomb haven't gone up with this deal being done. In fact, if they were to want to attack in this fashion, it probably would have happened already.

Yes, this deal will accelerate an arms race in the Mideast, but it's been going on quietly since it became obvious that Shit Midas was going to make a deal no matter what.
Yes, the Iranians are zealots enough that nuking Israel is a real possibility, and the Israeli's know it, so short term risk of a military flare up just went through the roof.
Yes, eventually the US will be nuked by some party in the religion of peace.

But, we knew that yesterday.

Posted by: Blue Hen at July 14, 2015 02:48 PM (Spluw)

"Multi-point" refers to the need for multiple small chemical explosives to direct the segments of an implosion-style bomb together to make it fission. Think of the plutonium warhead as a soccer ball, with all its little segments separated, and spaced apart enough that it can't sustain a chain reaction. On the outer face of each segment is a small explosive charge. When all those little explosive charges are fired at the exact same time (a non-trivial problem), the segments all fly towards each other, and are compressed into a dense sphere, and Boom! happens.

Just like with that idiot hispanic woman whom Obama appointed to head OPM -- the one who ignored the repeated warnings from the computer security experts that federal personnel records were not secure, and let foreign hackers make off with tens of millions of Americans' most personal information.

When that dumb scrunt finally resigned last week, the MSM didn't blame Obama for appointing such an unqualified political hack to head OPM. The MSM also didn't blame the 55 Democratic senators who voted to confirm her. No, the people the MSM blamed were the 10 Republicans who also voted yes. It was their fault for not recognizing that Obama is an unqualified idiot who appoints other unqualified idiots to important government jobs. If only those 10 Republican senators had recognized Obama's blatant stupidity and voted against his nominee, the OPM hacks would never have happened.

It's not talking about MIRVs. It refers to the detonation system for a nuke, which requires enormous instantaneous isotropic compression to detonate. (To force the radionuclides into extremely close proximity to each other.)

To achieve this requires incredibly precise engineering; the sphere of the radionuclide has to be machined to ridiculously tight tolerances, and high-speed switches (krytrons) used to detonate the shell of the explosives around the core. The precision is so great that the wires to the explosives have to be of the same length, because even at the speed of electricity (30 cm/nanosecond) any perceptible difference in length will cause the detonation to fail, and you've got a half-assed nuclear reactor.

I believe that, for this reason, the detonation system is one of the most crucial parts of a nuke (which I think is what necessitated a lot of those A-bomb tests in the 50s), and that's what the provision above refers to.

No, that's the reason WHY the Lord will not have mercy on our souls. We The People put that man in power, who "did evil in the eyes of the Lord" as scripture so eloquently puts it. We did not receive salvation through Jesus Christ so we could turn around and let irrational tyrants set the world on fire and dance in the ruins. Thomas Jefferson foresaw the Civil War as the result of inaction on abolition. Winston Churchill foresaw World War II as the result on inaction in telling Hitler "no". We don't need to be such eminent people or the sainted martyrs in Heaven to foresee the likely consequences of voting in Obummer twice so he could enable the fanatics in Iran towards their apocalyptic vision.

He never made a case against Iran, indeed, he downplayed actual casus belli so as *not* to overthrow the Mullahs. As I keep pointing out, Iran is a pissant country with the GDP of Dallas-Fortworth, almost all from oil that has to be shipped. A blockade, a few targeted cruise missile strikes and some airdrops of captured Iraqi military hardware into the non-Persan hinterlands and the Mullah wouldn't have lasted 6 months, with no American boots on the ground at all.

578 I believe that, for
this reason, the detonation system is one of the most crucial parts of a
nuke (which I think is what necessitated a lot of those A-bomb tests in
the 50s), and that's what the provision above refers to.

I will now pray to the Lord that He grants the Iranians the QC on the detonation system equivalent to Third World standard. Granted at the kiloton or megaton level a dud result can still possibly result in some damage, but I will be happy for an unsuccessful result.

You're a Christian. Do you think the Bible actually says that God is going to cast into hell people simply because they voted for Obama or that everyone between 20 and 80 who says with their lips and believes in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and submits their life to God is going to hell?

Do I think God can punish entire nations because of the idolatry of their rulers and people, yes, or that God can use bad rulers to punish but that's not what you said.

Please consider going back and reading the promises of Jesus in Scripture regarding salvation and the words of Paul.

You are counting on the Iranians to be rational in your analysis. Can you see the little flaw there? The only thing which makes "Death to America" just a slogan is that they can't actually do it... because when they can do it "Death to America" becomes reality. Assuming they don't mean it is like assuming the guy with rabies really won't bite you.

Scorpion replies, "It would not be in my interest to sting you since as I'll be on your back we both would drown." Frog thinks about this logic for a while and accepts the deal. Takes the scorpion on his back. Braves the waters. Halfway over feels a burning spear in his side and realizes the scorpion has stung him after all. And as they both sink beneath the waves the frog cries out, "Why did you sting me, Mr. Scorpion, for now we both will drown?" Scorpion replies, "I can't help it, it's in my nature."
