Ted Cruz Endorses Mike Flynn; Vote Is Tomorrow
Plus Some Other Stuff & Open Thread

Well I celebrated Independence Day by playing so much Arkham Knight my eyes began to hurt and developed state two leg atrophy.

Ted Cruz endorsed Mike Flynn, and, I heard, is cutting robocall taped endorsements for him.

Mike Flynn is the kind of courageous conservative we need in Washington. When Andrew Breitbart launched BigGovernment.com to expose ACORN and fight back against the institutional left and the political class, he chose Mike Flynn as his lieutenant. For 6 years, Flynn helped expose the media’s lies and led many fights against the Obama Administration and Washington’s entrenched political establishment. I’m happy to endorse his campaign for Congress. With Flynn, Central Illinois will have a strong voice to uphold the constitution, defend the 2nd Amendment and stand up to the media and political elite." -- Senator Ted Cruz

If you haven't donated, and are willing, please do so. You might wonder what they would spend it on; well, they'd spend it on robocalls. They're probably already doing that, but also probably have spent all the actual cash they had, and are probably taking a loan to do it. So, you'd be helping them stay out of family debt.

Over at PJMedia, David Steinberg reports that LaHood has confirmed what we all suspected.

Despite being the clear establishment favorite, LaHood has campaigned as the conservative in this race. Which is why his admission during a local news interview that he would challenge the House GOP -- and even some House Democrats --from the left on Cuba is so bizarre. Video is embedded below -- LaHood's Cuba exchange begins at 7:35:

LAHOOD: I think in terms of opening markets for our farmers, particularly in Cuba, I’m supportive of that. You know, this is the 17th largest agriculture district in the country ... when you think about the commodities that are grown and produced in central Illinois, we have to open up more markets. That’s jobs and economic opportunity for our farmers in our ag community in Central Illinois. So I'm supportive of opening up new markets, such as Cuba, for our corn and our soybeans and other products. That’s a good thing.

In the past, obviously Cuba has had some issues with human rights and other things. But I think this is a way to, you know, transition them to democracy and economic freedom and I'm supportive of it.

Um, throughout this non-campaign LaHood has tried to answer questions with stock, memorized answer. This shows what happens when he's asked something he wasn't scripted for -- he starts babbling about opening Cuba's markets for the farmers of the eighteenth district.

This is a nonsense answer. Calling Cuba's record "some issues with human rights" is the sort of euphemism preferred by Obama.

Clearly, LaHood hasn't thought much about this, and, at a lost, defaulted to regurgitating memorized nonsense about how much he <3 farmers and farm products.

And then we wonder why our government is the way it is.

Jake Tapper blasted leftist critics, such as Media Matters non-entity Oliver Willis.

This NRO article about the leftwing fascism in Wisconsin -- awaking citizens at gunpoint in the middle of the night to "investigate" fantasized political crimes -- is worth your time.

PJ Media's Roger L. Simon says he's a longtime Perry supporter and he can attest that back pain -- and the powerful drugs used to combat it-- can make you sound like a fool. Sounds like he's moving back on to the Perry train, after Perry's recent well-received speech.

You can now by the "COMPLY" bumper sticker:

Ben Carson attacks the "PC uproar" of Donald Trump's comments about Mexicans.

Here's what they do: They deliberately nuke all wrongthoughts they don't like in order to cow people from bringing up anything like those thoughts.

Trump's remarks were crude and insulting. But criminality by multiple-border-violation illegal immigrants is a serious issue-- and a difficult one for the Amnestias to deal with.

So how do they deal with it? By not dealing with it-- by bringing out 400 megaton attacks to make sure that no one brings up these issues they have no ready answer for.

They don't want to talk about sanctuary cities, so they make the entire topic radioactive.

A basic play from the left.

The "cleric" thought to be behind the Tunisian jihadist slaughter is, get this, living high on the hog on welfare benefits in England.

Some astronomers are claiming alien microbial life has been discovered, by indirect but claimedly "incontrovertible" evidence, on that comet the probe Philae is exploring.

Though the Shirtstorm guy himself, Matt Taylor, is very skeptical.

I hope they have found alien life, so that feminist "science lovers" can critique men's sartorial choices at the press conference.

That's because YOU'RE thinking like a conservative while THEY'RE thinking like a candidate.

That's why the whole system of consultants and advisors needs to be blown to bits some how.

The same jerk offs wind up running every campaign with understandable results.

These consultants don't really care if "their" candidate wins. They're getting paid. That's why the things they advise them to do may or may not be the best as far as voters.

I think that's why Trump is so good at what he does because he's used to doing his own thinking on a lot of stuff and Cruz also is thinking for himself.

Walker I think is a good manager and has lucked out because I think some of his consultants aren't so good.

It is good to know who they hire.

Birds of a feather and all that.

53 >>> Perry hired Steve Schmidt

"Seriously, why would anyone in the GOP hire Schmidt after what he
did to Palin, assisting in the totes hit job 'Fair Game' movie? Can you
say disloyal opportunist?"

In one of Schmidt's few electoral successes, he did install Ahnuld der Schtuppenfuhrer as the Republican governor of Commiefornia.

Unfortunately, this was not exactly a success for conservatives. After Ahnuld having been described as the second coming of Governor Reagan, he immediately hired a staff consisting of 100% liberal Democratic hacks and ward-heelers.

From there it was a whirlwind of left-wing nonsense from Ahnuld. The "hydrogen highway" at public expense to fight global warming. The cosseting of illegal aliens. A "fair and bipartisan" redistricting plan that handed Democrats a supermajority in the state legislature. An unconstitutional ban on buying ammo by mail.

So after seeing the actual behavior in office of one of Steve Schmidt's allegedly conservative candidates, I'm not about to bite down when Schmidt offers up another "conservative" to vote for in the person of Rick Perry. NO THANKS, PAL.

81 Perry lost it with me with allowing illegals in state tuition.

He's also shown some wishy washy ness on other stuff.

That he used to be a Democrat doesn't help and now he lays in on Trump.

See if he was smart and actually had a clue and was anti illegal then he'd have held Trump at arm's length while applauding the meaning of what he said i.e. illegals being less than stellar applicants for citizenship.

I've had to work with quite a few and it is a fact they are illiterate in their own language, lacking in many of the expected social skills and ethics of a modern society, very selfish and unconcerned about the neighborhood they live in.

Usually they might have some allegiance to the block they live on if it's all hispanic (which they usually are) but they don't feel the necessity of having any pride of place by taking care of the dwellings they're in or the surroundings.

Now this of course is a generalization and there's surely locations and groups that act differently. This is what I saw, and heard them talking about and their attitude in general. (I speak some spanish and it was very enlightening to find out what they would say about their anglo fellow workers. Yes if you think they're talking about you (sometimes) you're right.)

some of you like things really crude and really angry. Then you begin fantasizing -- this is the solipsistic part-- that because this appeals to YOU it must appeal to EVERYONE.

It doesn't. I do not deny that Trump's brand of off-the-cuff nonsense appeals to some people; why must you insist on this absurd claim that it's "highly effective" and that all or most people like it?

Every fucking stupid thing someone vaguely on the right says (and I don't know if I'd even say Trump is on the right), there is this peanut gallery of people ready to swear on a Bible that it's "super-politically effective."

Based on what? Based on your own pique? Do you have any evidence that this is a broad-based thing?

I don't think Trump's clumsy off-the-cuff remarks are the worst thing but can some people stop with the stupidly crude overcompensating and claiming that whatever ugly thing someone says on the right, it's "really effective" and "cutting through the noise" and "winning people over?"

It's not winning anyone over who wasn't already won over.

everyone wants their sensibilities flattered. Trump flatters yours. fine. Stop making dumb claims that this is selling like Hotcakes in Politcally Correct America.

99 I don't believe it's the job of any candidate to "win" people over to the way they think.

People already have an idea of what the baseline of the candidate they'll vote for.

what a candidate needs to do is convince those who would most likely vote for someone like them to vote for them.

We're NOT GOING TO WIN OVER MOST HISPANICS OR BLACKS OR JEWS.

That's just a fact and to pursue that disregarding those who might like to vote for us is ridiculous.

Secure YOUR BASE. Then try to present your goals and aims in such a way that those at the edges might reconsider you.

But don't piss on those that are loyal in the sad hope that the enemy will then vote for you.

It's never an equal exchange. You lose more than you gain.

110 Who was "crude and insulting" - Trump?
I didn't think his orginal remarks, in context , were rude. He said

It's true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we're getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They're sending us not the right people.

It's coming from more than Mexico. It's coming from all over South and Latin America, and it's coming probably -- probably -- from the Middle East. But we don't know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don't know what's happening. And it's got to stop and it's got to stop fast.

I was just commenting on a common idea that for some reason we should try to appeal to those who will never vote for anyone other than a Democrat/Liberal/Progressive.

And as to that, with the Media applying layers and layers of filters, it's not surprising that that which is outrageous and borderline ridiculous is the only thing that gets through.

Not to say that's a good thing but it is what it is.

Would any of these jokers have said anything about the intellect or morals of those being admitted if Trump hadn't said anything? Doubt it. They've been trying to gloss over that bit of ugly truth along with the media and the leftists.

I think Cruz handled it the best and most of the others just echoed the MSM. Revealing, don't you think?

I do believe that many candidates are sunk by their consultants and some are elevated by them.

But if your relying on advisers to tell you what to think, you're going to get in trouble real fast.

In 2012 it was birther stuff and now he's latched onto illegals. The problem is not that the issues don't deserve discussion but rather the way he slashes and burns when he discusses them. He becomes the issue for many people and the real issue gets ignored. Worse, he offends a lot of people who might otherwise be persuaded. The further you dig into Trump's comments the more you see that the whole thing was twisted and setup by the media to be more than what it was.

THE MEDIA WILL ALWAYS LIE. Remember those words.

And it wold have been helpful if the other candidates had said "What Trump said was crude, but he it is a fact that the border and our immigration laws are not being protected and enforced." or something to that effect.

Instead, with the exception of Ted Cruz, jumped down his throat. I think that's what pisses me off most. Can we all for once be unified and come to one another's defense when it is at all possible? 281 >>The real issue was and is getting ignored because no one would or will discuss it.

Even if I agreed with this, and I don't, people have been discussing if not as much as I would like, the point is there is a better way to bring it up. Why not say something like:

As we all know, we have a very big problem on our southern border. The Obama administration has chosen to not enforce our laws or border security and we now have millions of people living here illegally. While many of these people have come here seeking a better way of life they went about it the wrong way and are also depriving those who are trying to play by the rules the opportunity to come here and are taking jobs and benefits that should be going to our citizens and to those who play by the rules.

Another big problem is the lack of border security has allowed some very bad people to sneak into the country as well. We have numerous reports of illegal aliens committing serious crimes including drugs and murder and some are part of dangerous gangs.

We need to secure our borders and insure that our laws are followed for the protection and advancement of US citizens and those we allow to immigrate here.

Not that hard. Instead, we have been treated to a week of the msm trashing Trump and the rest of the field trying to walk away from his comments. How is that moving the issue forward for us?

283 Think most people have grown tired of the politicization of big business
- Apple weighing in on the Ohio pizza place, Amazon not selling

I think people have also grown tired of feeling their voice is not heard and take it out on people like my little niece in frustration. What makes me feel good to some degree is that what happened to her was real and not some BS news report. I've never been a big fan of Trump but it's funny that it's him that stirs people up like that.

Posted by: dartist at July 06, 2015 09:30 PM (ahBY0)

284 Given that for every criminal arrested, 2 or 3 more are out there and from my experience, many of those coming here 10 years ago were very unsavory and trending criminals then.

Let alone those have found their way here lately.

And just because someone has not yet been charged with being a rapist or even hasn't raped at this point does not mean it's not within the scope of their attitude and mentality.

The idea that the majority of those coming North are just common people who couldn't find work in there little village is bogus.

the vast majority are male who have either been unable or unwilling to find some kind of position that someone will pay them wages for or provide their room and board. They've been rejected by their families as either extraneous or unworthy of the effort so they've been told to leave. There's quite a few that have been advised by the local police to take their shit north or find themselves in jail.

There's no way to document this because no one takes the time or has the money to do so. Plus a lot of them will lie.

When you live by your wits on the streets, you will many times be faced with questions of morality vs need. Since they're here far from their families and they've been told they face little if any penalty, the easiest option becomes the norm.

the number of less than desirable humans coming north is greater than you believe. Than you want to believe because you can't relate to it since it is so far outside your realm of experience.

Given jobs or handouts, most will be compliant but will not shy from thievery and assault. they live on the edges and they have little to lose.

When you have little to lose, you have little restraint on your actions.

I can only quote this, Ace, about telling the truth, in living the truth. People want someone to say the truth they know is there but no-one is willing to say: this is why drug/alcoholic/codependent families are so fcked up and why the members so desperately want something else. (and I steal this not only from the man who said it, but the dozens other who quoted it more aptly it in the last month)

"[A man living in the truth, a man telling the truth] has upset the power structure by tearing apart what holds it together. He has demonstrated that living a lie is living a lie. He has broken through the exalted facade of the system and exposed the real, base foundations of power. He has said that the emperor is naked. And because the emperor is in fact naked, something extremely dangerous has happened: by his action, the greengrocer has addressed the world. He has enabled everyone to peer behind the curtain. He has shown everyone that it IS possible to live within the truth. Living within the lie can constitute the system only if it is universal. The principle must embrace and permeate everything. There are no terms whatsoever on which it can coexist with living within the truth, and therefore everyone who steps out of line DENIES IT IN PRINCIPLE AND THREATENS IT IN ITS ENTIRETY...If the main pillar of the system is living a lie, then it is not surprising that the fundamental threat to it is living the truth. This is why it must be suppressed more severely than anything else.

I am not articulate, I can barely spell. I want truth in my life. I am tired of the lies and the assaults of other people defending their lies.
I think Trump is a clown, and WHY THE HELL DOES IT HAVE TO BE A CLOWN WHO TELLS THE TRUTH?
Why can't one of your suave, debonaire, savvy candidates say obvious truth? Why are only lies sophisticated?

Trump isn't on our side. He sees an opening for a role to play and plays it. He plays it in such a way as to promote himself--he can't win the actual election, so he plays to win what he can, which is attention and free publicity, as far as I can see.

I understand the move to distance from Trump, bu t our side consistently plays into the lefts carpet bombing campaign in the process. Very few seem able to talk past the (even correct) criticisms of Trump to make a strong statement re the issue at hand.

We have to figure this out because Trump is not going away. He's going to define topics of conversation for our side because he has a big mouth and the press eat him up.

On the issue of illegal immigration, revealed preferences say you are wrong, Ace. Congress, both Republicans and Democrats, have been jonesing for at least the last decade for a "amnesty". If it was just us hard core conservatives who objected, they would have passed it long ago. The majority of the American public agrees with Trump on this issue even if they would never voice that opinion out loud.

Because here is the thing, whether they are all rapists or drug dealing gang members or not, they all are criminals for violating our borders. Additionally, every community and state has seen enough rapes, people hit by unlicensed illegal drivers and illegals on welfare paid for by us to be fed up to the gills with people saying we have to be nice and let them stay. 318 Well, it's not like raising the threat of violent crime to rally voters is a new tactic. Come election time every politician is a "law and order" politician.

When the open borders crowd is using emotional appeals - they're just coming here looking for a better life for themselves and their families - responding by pointing out that illegals are straining state budgets for education or social services or health care sounds callous and silly.

Does anyone see any indication that voters take budget deficits seriously? There will be a beat back on the open-borders crowd that's always pushing by making appeals to fiscal sanity?

Would voters respond to a message of Demography is Destiny?

So Trump went straight for an emotional appeal to safety by linking illegal immigrants to violent crime. Time will tell if it resonates or flops.

324 And as far as this topic being set back or not being pushed forward, no one was doing much of either until Trump said anything.

Immigration should be the number one priority of the next president.

Simply because the criminal in their now has made it his.

A fence needs to be erected an actual physical barrier. If your are on this side you must document your authority to be on this side (I know there's all kinds of problems with that but we're stuck with it now).

Anyone not authorized is returned regardless of whether their birth country accepts them or not.

If they return they should be put on a work detail building the Fence and then deported again.

Any business or type of employer who hires/pays unauthorized persons will be sent to work on the fence, their business assets seized.

Any person who does not secure authorized ID from individuals renting/leasing/buying property of any sort will be sent to work on the Fence. (Photo copies are allowed. You are not responsible if the ID is phony but you must document the ID shown)

All Persons who are not authorized will be given no legal authority to drive or be licensed in any other capacity.

There will be no Sanctuary Cities. Churches may allow unauthorized persons to occupy their buildings but they must remain in the building at all times. Once they leave they will be dealt with.

No mass roundups just attrition.

Put a sunshine time limit on the laws (ending say when the Fence is finished) for reauthorization.

Any nation found to be aiding and abetting border crossers will be billed for the cost of apprehension and housing.

Mexico will be billed for 50% of the cost of the Fence.

Mexico will be required to allow access to their records on their citizens so as to identify criminals.

All that would be a good start.

In fact except for the Fence, it's all currently the law right now.

--- about 55,000 criminal aliens account for more than one-fourth of prisoners in Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities
--- about 297,000 criminal aliens incarcerated in state and local prisons. That number represents about 16.4 percent of the state and local prison population compared to the 12.9 percent of the total population

None of the professional politicians are very statesmanlike and most of them are nothing but total losers who have never held a real job or had any success at anything.

Sure, it's possible that the electorate demands losers with no experience at anything and no talent (look at how people allowed Admiral Stockdale to be savaged when he was the only real person in the VP slot of that race) but I don't think that people are cemented into that self-defeating position. Trump would fight back like Stockdale wouldn't.

Revealed preference theory says it is a whole lot more fruitful to watch what people do rather than listen to what they say if you really want to know where their greatest utility lies. Revealed preferences shown by the American public making politicians too scared to vote the way they truly wanted indicate that Trump is more right on this issue.

Being in construction sales, both commercial and residential roofing, I've worked side-by-side with more illegal aliens than Trump has ever had trim his lawn.

The overwhelming majority of 'em just want to do the job, get the job done, get paid, and do it again. Most all of 'em surely do send a lot of money back home, where they came from.

But, those same ones are also carefully building up their finances here in Texas, buying modest, tiny and very old houses in poor parts of town, but putting down roots, all the same.

Their crime was the immigration, but they're not living a criminal lifestyle in the course of their existence here.

The criminal ones? I never see them up on some 110 degree, 9/12 pitch roof on a hot summer day.

So yeah, Trumps a Chump. It's not altogether bad that he tore the lid off the immigration can of worms....but he sure did leave a lot of sharp edges on that damn can, and they cut both ways.

Trump is no conservative. But, he's the closet thing to a conservative among all the potential candidates, now.

Yeah, that's a pathetic statement about the state of this society and the slate of potential candidates ... but it is what it is.

The illegal invasion is one of the most important issues. It's a clear deal-breaker issue for me (and many, many others). It killed the GOP in 2006-2007 when that despicable, retarded POS McShame was around (thereby bringing Barky to us) and it will kill it, again.

Trump is the only one of the potential candidates who is anywhere near correct on the illegal invasion. The rest are mostly collaborators. I can't think of a one of them who isn't, frankly. And that, for me, is a deal breaker, as I said.

Although, the GOP went too far for me back in 2013 when they re-elected that lowlife, colluding, Barky-butt-buddy POS Boner. That was the last straw for me. I stopped voting GOP at that point and won't cast any more GOP votes, so I don't really have a dog in this fight.

369 Here are some relevant stats

1. 40pct of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

2. 95pct of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

3. 75 pct of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

4. Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5. Nearly 25pct of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

8. Nearly 60pct of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.

10. In L.A.County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million speak Spanish (10.2 million people in L.A.County).

Less than 2pct of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare.

Over 70pct of the United States annual population growth (and over 90pct of California, Florida, and New York) results from immigration.

The cost of illegal immigration to the American taxpayer in 2013 was a NET (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay) $150 BILLION a year.

The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average adult Mexican immigrant is a NEGATIVE.

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

Hell, Disney just laid off all of its IT workers in favor of the far cheaper workers they can bring in from places like India by misusing those H-1B visas.

The GOP did nothing to differentiate itself on the issue of illegal aliens from the Democrats either in 08 (with McShamnety) or in 12 (with milquetoast Romney). When Dave Brat ran on that issue and linked it to Chamber of Commerce Crony Capitalism you saw what happened. In the General, he even got a majority of votes in the part of the 7th that encroaches on hard blue Richmond.

People are angry and it is not just us conservatives. The GOP, if it had offered a stark choice in either 08 or 12 could have capitalized. They didn't, Trump has and I for one am very grateful for that.

389 "Their crime was the immigration, but they're not living a criminal lifestyle in the course of their existence here."

Not overtly criminal.

If you were to see the federal Earned Income Tax Credit numbers for those neighborhoods, you might be unpleasantly surprised. Criminality isn't always overt.

Also, people can be completely aboveboard and still end up being a massive drain on the public fisc, in the context of the modern American benefit state.

Consider hypothetical Pedro and Maria who come illegally from Mexico into the USA and settle in Commiefornia. They have two kids, who attend the Commiefornia public schools, and can't be denied from doing so. Pedro, Maria and their kids make no other demands of any kind upon public support systems (doubtful but again hypothetical).

Pedro and Maria obey the laws, work hard, and they voluntarily pay what taxes are imposed on them at their modest level of income, which basically just amount to sales taxes and such. They're under-threshold for federal and state liability.

Just one of their kids costs the Commiefornia taxpayers about $13,500.00 per year, every year. So: 27 grand a year, every year they're here, just to pay for both kids' schooling.

Do you think Pedro and Maria come anywhere close to paying that much in taxes? No? Then we are worse off as a society, net-net, for their presence.

It feels like you are raging against a symptom. Trump is a complete fraud, of course. This is a vacuum the Republicans created. No one believes they have an advocate on ideas or issues, so they'll settle for anything else they can get.

The R's don't even hide their tactics anymore. They obnoxiously make it apparent they are going to pivot one inch to the right of wherever the Dem's reside the moment they secure office. They want us to see it, know it, and feel it. They purposefully make these elections about little things. Nobody is going to do anything on immigration, including Trump. I don't see the value in having, say, a Scott Walker lie to me about it anymore. Few at this stage believe anything they say on this issue, or most others, anyway.

They play that kind of game often enough, and they should not be surprised when "binders full of women" leaves a mark, or when some blowhard like Trump catches a wave of momentum. The more they make it clear this is about small things, the more people are going to vote for small, stupid reasons.

If you are referring to the failure to continue to discuss the proportion of illegal aliens that Trump said were murderers and rapists, I thought that issue was settled reasonably well enough by @votermom's comments. Trump didn't say that.

However, it was easy enough for people to get the impression that he had, whether from shorthanding that section of his speech, or from taking the media at its word that he did say it. Therefore, for the record, I stipulate that most are not rapists and murders, and that to say so would have been to overstate the average criminality of the illegal alien population arriving across the Mexican border.

They are all criminals, though. All of them. And with Obama in office, I will never know how many commit what other crimes (beyond the myriad they all commit just to get and remain here), because his administration refuses to report that data.

We know how many transgendered redheads there are in every city block across the shining land, but not this.

And in detail dishonest, in total dishonest. Or whatever. I am neither a lawyer nor a Roman, so I don't know the Latin version of that aphorism.

But some of them are rapists. And some are murderers.

And some of them commit voter fraud. Some of them may vote for LaHood, stealing from me because they diminish the effect of my donation to Flynn.

Not one of them is permitted to be here by the law of this land, and I appreciate Trump for not calling me a heartless racist because of it.

Of COURSE. Why didn't any of us think of that?

Here in Commiefornia, the remaining bona fide citizens in the state voted overwhelmingly a few years back to stop giving illegal aliens free stuff.

A black-robed radical on the federal bench said we couldn't stop giving the illegals free stuff.

Then the newly elected Democratic governor of Commiefornia declined to appeal that decision any higher in the federal appellate chain.

407 #392: Yep. I'm beginning to see a possible scenario, here...

The GOP wages a scorched-earth campaign against its own base to give the nomination to the party leadership's preferred candidate, Jeb. They go all-out, even going so far as to change primary rules in the middle of primary season (like they did against Perry in VA last time around, for example).

Trump then says, "screw it; in for a penny, in for a pound", and declares he's running a third-party/independent campaign. After all, what does he have to lose at that point? He's already burned so many bridges, he's still a billionaire, and President is really the only job he can still view as a promotion.

Under those circumstances, we're looking at a legitimate three-way race. I, for one, have already declared on multiple occasions that I will not vote for Jeb under any circumstances, and I know there are many more with the same mindset.

If that scenario comes to pass, yes, I do believe I will be voting for Trump. I would rather see Jeb come in third than fritter away my vote on yet another GOPe go-along-to-get-along moderate who'll only lose anyway.

422 Ace, sorry. I worked as a bilingual for an agency that tried to resolve issues for migrant (99.99% South and Central American) workers, as well as framers, landscapers, drywallers, cannery workers - a good majority seemed to have issues of some sort with providing a valid SSN - and as a class...
Some of them I really liked personally, and like their drive and work ethic. They loved their kids and wanted something better.
Some were dumb as a box of rock, a number were crooked as a pair of pliers and a good number of them believed "I have a right" was the perfect get-special-treatment mantra.
A good number bitched continually about how things were better in Mexico, but when I asked if they were going back, stated bluntly the pay was terrible and there was no work.
And don't get me started on that whole endemic "Puro Sangre" BS. If I claimed cack like that I would be a bigot.

And there are some really dangerous ones too. Not the get drunk and beat the wife and kids, or drive and kill, or even get in bar fights that turn into three critically wounded and the bar being closed down for good. There are human traffickers, drug gangs, psychotic bastards... all the wonderful dreamers that come to the US where the cops don't have their names yet, the prisons are cleaner and they might get into one of those early release programs.

But, we can agree that that is a small population. It poses an unnecessary risk in my mind, but I will agree that the murder, assault and property crime rate may be on the whole, if you look only at numbers and not the lives destroyed, small.

But people don't look at that as a statistic, they see a hurting human. Most people can't look over the wide world and just see numbers, and they think they are being lied to.
The problem Trump presents is that he is the ultimate populist. He says what he thinks the people want to hear, and there is a lot of hunger for this message.

Not everyone has your nose for the facts, they mostly notice cheese costs 8 bucks a loaf and think someone is stealing it. People in that state of mind are open to a rabble rouser, a populist who doesn't have a plan for the future, but is excellent at telling people where they are right now.

I think you see it already, unless there is a message to counter and divert and lead to freedom, a lot of voters are going to opt for making the trains run on time and vote for someone like Trump, when they could have voted for something better.

I will say, Trump is saying what a lot of the pols are afraid to admit: We have a problem. Part of the problem is unrestricted immigration that is rewarded with benefits. Some of the illegal immigrants are nasty people. The rest don't have a lot of reason to follow the law. The possible cost may be high.

So yes I deliberately did those things.
Just as I deliberately legally immigrated to the US because I thought it was the country that loved freedom and respected the law.

Here's one thing I will say to those who think I am racist for judging illegals. You seem to think illegals represent all of their "race."
You seem to think, moreover, that they cannot be held to the same standards of law-abiding that you and I can.
Well, I see them as humans who have just as much free will and conscience as I do. I see them as my equals. I see them as my equals who are being allowed to break laws, who are being REWARDED for breaking laws, while I am being punished for noticing it.
You seem to think you are better than them, and that you are better than me.
I think you are equal to them. I think you are equal to me. Brfore God, and once upon a time, before the law, we are all equal.
Even Trump.
So ask yourself, who of us, if any, is being racist.
