Lefist Media: Why, We Simply Cannot Abide the Lack of Optimism and Patriotism in the GOP

Now that America has been Fundamentally Transformed (TM), the leftist media likes it more, and now demands to know: Why do all these Republican sour-pusses hate America?

It's a funny question-- funny, because it could have been asked of the Democrat Party since 1968, which has taken a very dark and critical view of America for almost 50 years now.

The front-runner Democrat candidate once specified, when asked if she pledged allegiance to America: "I pledge allegiance to the America that can be," which is like telling your wife you love the woman she could be, if she lost 30 pounds and got her breasts enhanced.

The wife of the anti-American president proudly proclaimed that she had never been proud, at all, of America as an adult until the country drunkenly made her socialist husband the Democrat nominee.

Barack Obama explained, before then, that he might struggle getting the nomination, because Americans were "bitter clingers" who were Life's Losers but then clung to their silly superstitions about God, and their racism, and of course their Racist Guns.

Eric Holder branded the country a "nation of cowards" on race.

The media never found fault with these statements. They knew they could alienate voters, so they downplayed them.

Madeleine Albright, John Edwards, John Kerry, Al Gore and Howard Dean all flirted with one or several variations of Trutherism -- Albright believing Osama bin Ladin had been in prison for years, and would be trotted out to help Bush in an election; Edwards and Kerry calling questions about the Truther theory of 9/11 "interesting" and worth asking questions about; Al Gore and Howard Dean both screaming that Bush had lied us into war, and maybe knew more than he was letting on about 9/11.

Among Obama's trusted friends -- the man who secretly ghost-edited/wrote his book, the evidence says -- is an unrepentant bomber who schemed to kill American soldiers at a dance, and whose associates shot cops, prosecutors, and judges.

Barack Obama's preacher and "spiritual advisor," the one who married him to that crony-socialist cow Michelle, praised the 9/11 attacks on America, saying "God damn America" and gloating that the "chickens have come home to roost."

For fifty years, the left -- the Democrats, the media, one in the same -- have mounted an ugly attack on America, a sustained "critique" of all her non-leftist institutions.

Now the right is taking a darker view of America, given its current Soft Enthusiasm for fascism.

And now the media asks -- no seriously, only now it asks -- what is wrong with a party which can't be Happy about what a great country America is?

Are

You

Fucking

Kidding

Me?

Oh, and fuck Joe Scarborough, who combines the honesty of a politician with the depth of thought of a talk-show host.

Bonus: The media's pre-Obama view of America -- "Is everything spinning out of control?"

Zombie Says:

You see, when leftists burned the American flag at every single protest between 1965 and 2009, they were only keeping it warm because they loved the flag and what it represented so much.

Poor cold flag! We love you, so we burn you!

How many people are in Masons or Eagles, VFW, hell, even Shriners, any more? We isolate ourselves and wonder why we can't work together to change things. I see your point but No, I don't think so generally. I think people get married often with the idea that what is lacking in their personality may be found in another person (i.e., an introvert marrieds an extrovert) and then what goes wrong is that rather than appreciating the differences they start to annoy you. If I had thought my spouse wanted to transform me I never would have gotten married to them. And maybe it was a bad analogy. "I want to fundamentally transform America" should have caused reflags to anyone who wasn't a communist or communist sympathizer.

Same here. I use that principle in deciding how to vote. When the voter's guide shows up, I barely need to read the position statements; I just look to see who/which groups provide endorsements. If it's the "Single Mothers' Collective for Peace, Justice, Bread, Cats, Ice Cream, and Free Batteries" or some such, I just saved myself a lot of time, because I know that I'm on the opposite side of that crew.

Posted by: Retired Detroit public sector union member at July 06, 2015 05:05 PM (oKE6c)

98 and just like talking about "fundamentally transforming" America but it was only conservatives who noted that you wouldn't marry someone who said to you, "Let's get married. Then I'll fundamentally transform everything about you."

Lady Liberty went from looking like Miss America to looking like an alcoholic crack whore now, missing teeth and all.

Fundamental Chains we can believe in.

Whatever bullshit the MSM reports is one thing, the reports from the gun range tell me something different. It may not be the Dow Jones industrial index but it's one hell of an indicator.

172 Why are we not optimistic?

Food prices have never been higher.
The national debt has more than doubled, up by over ten trillion dollars.
The caliphate is happening.
There is no more rule of law.
Real wages have gone down $5000 per year.
Poverty is up, food stamps usage is up, welfare is up all at record highs.
Our First Amendment rights are gone.
We have 3% of our population ruling us.
Racial tensions are the highest in 50 years.

It has been a great run on ruining the USA i the last 6+ years.

ace, funny line but that "drunkenly" elected Obama thing dodges a big issue. The country willingly, happily, giddily elected him - after whining hysterically and exhibiting delusional behavior during his predecessor's terms. As others have said, America degraded itself, nobody else did it.

Oh, and check out just the "litany of woe" in that AP excerpt from 2008.

Health care and college tuition costs were high? Hmm. They're much higher now. Gas prices? Doubled nearly instantly after the election, have gone up since. Biggest short-term increases in history (crickets).

"Wars without end" (translation, per the "press" and several commenters here: wars that last longer than 3-4 weeks) were "raging"? Hmmm. The war in Iraq was not all that ragey by June 2008. Oh - and guess what - today both wars continue, and one was re-started partly through Obama's incompetence after it had been won.

Home values were low? What? June 2008? Um, sorry, doesn't wash. How could there have been a real estate crash 4 months later, if values were already unusually low?

Useful to recall the delusional make-believe world of distortion and hysteria that helps make America stupid enough to consider anyone like Obama for any position of responsibility. Also good to note that many here have ingested/internalized a LOT of the nonsense, too.

OWS and Ferguson had to advertise for protesters. They had a willing media generating memes and phony coverage, controlling the camera angles to make a few dozen people look/sound like hundreds, not to mention cover up the rapes, robberies, vandalism and defecation.

Tea Party rallies? Hundreds of thousands, and what coverage there is uses the words "extreme," "controversial," "angry" and shows a guy with an AK-47 - conveniently edited before we can see that he's black.

They are a minority who has the media on their side as well as, sadly, the instruments of government and the law to control us.

Both have been undermined by newer, left of center, organizations like IAVA and Team Red, White, and Blue (RWB). Problem is, most of the members of these new orgs have no idea about the leftist stance their orgs have. Their big complaint is that the Legion and the VFW is "all old dudes" (gee, where do we keep hearing that line from?).

Convo I had with a guy from RWB trying to get me to join:

RWB: "Why are you a member of the VFW? It's all old dudes."

Me: "Yeah, and they were once young dudes."

RWB: "Yeah, but we do cool stuff, like ride bikes."

Me: "OK, what do you do for veteran's advocacy?"

RWB: "We ride bikes."

Me: "So the VFW and the Legion have pretty powerful lobbies in DC, does RWB?"

RWB: Blank stare.

Me: "So what does RWB do for me as a veteran?"

RWB: "You get to ride bikes with us."

The grocery business have gotten awfully good about stealthifying inflation with packaging tricks, or raising the price and compensating with fat "sales" where the "sale" price is higher than the non-sale price had previously been.

Repeating an old piece of advice here: save your grocery receipts year over year. You can scan them and keep digital copies. Especially for staple foods that don't change much from year to year and can't be jiggered with package tricks as easily as preprocessed foods are.

Personal hot button .

I have something to say about burning my flag, and before I do, please don't bother bringing up the SCOTUS decision on the matter. That decision is on the same level as Obamacare and gay marriage--tortured spin that means NOTHING.

Burning our flag is in NO WAY an expression of free speech.

It is WILLFUL and malicious desecration of our national symbol, and by extension, a denial of the country and it's ideals.

It can never be anything else.

I'm totally uninterested in arguments in defense of this loathsome act, as they're irrelevant.

Here's a good way to have fun, and to smoke out Reds in that kind of situation. Say you don't want to join their outfit, but you're interested in joining one that will fight American imperialism and oppression overseas, in the interests of social justice (or some such crap). This will many times cause the lefty to look over his shoulder, then tell you that it really IS a left-wing organization, but they have to keep it on the down low. Bingo.

I did that with a couple of retarded neighbors who came by to push Francine Busby for Congress here. I said it was high time we had a lesbian representing us. They protested that she wasn't a lesbian (she attended a meeting of lesbians at the home of a well-known lesbian leftist agitator who got into a fight with a sheriff who came to investigate a noise complaint; turns out she'd done EXACTLY the same thing before in SF). I told them that I'd thought she was a lesbian, but if she weren't, then I wouldn't vote for her.

I mean, we're not talking about things that have moved past living memory. As Ace states, we're talking about the arguably-treasonous actions taken by the Dems as recently as GW's final year in office!

306 In the Hayekian sense (with which I agree) society consists of all the (hundreds of) thousands of interactions at the boundary of individuals' spheres. The necessary and hopefully mutually agreeable definition of where those boundaries are.

For the left, it seems to me that they view 'society' as those things we do together, and by extension they conflate society with 'government', in the sense that government IS society. Thus, the concept of socialism as a form of government is comfortable to them. The notion that government can and should enforce conformity of the individual with the rest of society, for a greater good.

"Somebody ought to do something for the (starving children, oppressed minority, etc)" becomes "The government has to do someting". Government becomes a buffer between them and actually having to interact with people outside their own circle, or acknowledging other points of view.

These two points of view are at variance.

313 As for the conservative slide of Patriotism...

Just seems to me that enraging the people with all the guns and military training is a poor way to run things. But they've gotten away with it for years without a whiff of danger.

314 Hell, this inflation isn't bad. Just wait until we have a republican president. Then you will see some inflation.

Posted by: Ollie Boxoffer at July 06, 2015 06:02 PM (l5tXl)

315 Quickly? They ran it for years. About half of their subs were on the $5 list. Then the higher end subs like the steak went up in price, and then a few subs were no longer $5. Then some more weren't. And things like the steak went up again. And it just kept repeating. It was only this last year or two that there were no longer any $5 subs.

You joke but the next president is faced with either keeping those plates spinning in the air with lies and accounting trickery or being honest and up front about it and watching it all come crashing down.

Herman Cain uses sneak-a-tax for new hidden taxes.

318 You've forced me to destroy the economy because you wouldn't eat less on your own. Now you have no choice!

Great guy, but he lost so now conservatives hate him forever, didn't you get the memo?

321 All I want to hear from Joe Scarborough is the full and complete explanation he never gave for resigning his seat in Congress only a couple months into the term, and his relationship with the aide who was found dead of unknown causes in one of his district offices.

Once he comes clean on all that, MAYBE I will pay attention to something else he says. If he moves to a network I will watch.

We always knew he wasn't conservative as he took over the Neal Boortz radio show.

323 Sorry, but our market research indicated that a five pound bag of sugar
was no different than raping a woman between the frozen and seasonal
aisles.>>>

I always was a little suspicious of why the Ex wife liked shopping so much.

326 Somehow, I am certain, a brighter commenter than me could tie this into the scene in the basement of the pawn shop in Pulp Fiction.

327 I used to fear great violence as the end of all this. Now, it's getting to the point where I am not sure we'll even resist getting on the train cars anymore; we'll just feel relieved it's over.

328 I was raised to be civil but it is no longer possible. I don't even argue with anyone anymore. The have no history, logic or reason so it's pointless.

It really is "Fuck you. War".

329 Yup! a battered public watching the Supremes legislate from the bench, a Resident and a media who lie like a rug, and idiots slapping $135,000 fines on Christians trying to be faithful to God. ..and the sainted media has No Clue why us "ordinary people" might POSSIBLY be dispirited? I for one am not interested in fixing everything the Left breaks. They have had a long march thru the institutions, and we've cleaned up after them for 40 years. I'm sick of it. Let it burn.

330 "Is everything spinning out of control?"

It's kind of like having the dog look at you disgustedly and move away. Just before the stench hits.
