We really need to do that too. But, we need to clean it first, really well. We are avoiding the hard washers, because they supposedly ruin the wood over time. So we scrub it clean first, and it's pretty big, a pain in the butt. We use that solution.

26 I was reading this piece from Drudge,

Goodbye Washington, hello Moscow? Saudi Arabia finds friendly face in Putin.

The two oil-producing giants seem to have made a breakthrough last month in their often adversarial relationship, signing several cooperation pacts. But incompatible foreign policies may yet cool the new warmth.

That linked to this one inside it:

Russia Builds Space Program With Saudi Arabia, Iran Amid Roscosmos' Struggles

because

Saudi Arabia's agreement with Russia occurred months after the Kremlin purportedly reached a similar arrangement with Iran, the Saudis' regional archrival, on joint space exploration, RT reported. Under that deal, Russia allegedly agreed to train would-be Iranian astronauts and collaborate on the production of satellites.

so disturbing.

This is about controlling space, spying, and weaponizing space.

Scary stuff.

33 With regards to Mr. Klaven

When the people of a very liberal state, California, pass a constitutional amendment to define marriage as being between a man and woman and then have elected officials declare they will not obey this amendment and then have the SCOTUS say no Californian has standing to defend the amendment, and now that the same maniacs have decided that the 14th amendment repealed the 10th and abridged the 1st because somehow the constitution now requires that the dignity of 0.04pct of the population trumps all.

So what exactly can we do about that Mr. Klaven?

I have a medium duty power washer that works very well, however, I take my time and first lightly scrub on a wood cleaning solution, then power wash, then seal with a premium grade wood sealant. Greece. What a mess.

excerpt from an op-ed over at the WSJ:

The Greeks Say No

Better a euro exit than the risk of antireform political contagion.

...

Mr. Tsipras and his ministers will also try to use the leverage of their European Union membership. The EU typically operates by consensus, and the Syriza Party government is likely to play the spoiler on Russian sanctions and other policies until it gets its way. Greek ministers are already musing about letting Greece become a thoroughfare for migrants from Africa and the Middle East into the EU. Expect more nasty threats and political blackmail.

But if Mrs. Merkel and her allies cave to Mr. Tsipras, the costs will be even more severe. The message will be that Europe's other debtor nations can also use political extortion to block pro-growth reform. Parties of the left in Italy, Portugal and Spain will have a new argument to make against the reforms that have begun to show some progress: Vote to reject the reforms that creditors demand, and the creditors will reward you anyway. This could doom the center-right Spanish government of Mariano Rajoy as it goes to the polls later this year.

This political contagion is a far greater threat to the integrity of the eurozone than is the immediate fallout from a Greek financial crisis or even a Greek exit from the currency bloc. If euro membership guarantees a permanent welfare check, then no debtor nation will reform. This is a recipe for permanently slow growth and unending economic crisis.

Russia, again.

42 I just read an article bemoaning the lack of racial diversity in the new children's movie Inside Out.

43 New York Slime of all places has an article about the massive 20-50% rate increases being asked for by the insurance companies. Who could have seen this coming? The article actually does a decent job of explaining why the increases area necessary (huge demand for free stuff is expensive it turns out) but completely fails to mention that sane, rational people were predicting this and none of them are least bit surprised. Also not surprising is that Obama, feeling their pain, is urging his supporters to contact their state insurance regulators to pressure them to not approve the huge increases (and force them into bankruptcyt in 3-5 years as their losses are huge)

Can't say I feel the pain of anybody here: the insurance companies, their clients that expect frees stuff, the regulators and the Communists running this. They are all useful idiots. Hope the whole thing crashes and burns, the sooner the better.

57 re: the EU and Greece.

The old adage of "You owe the bank a thousand dollars, bank owns you. You owe the bank a million dollar,s you own the bank" applies.

The EU banks and the IMF, which is underwritten by US tax dollars, are going to try and game the situation on even the slimmest of chances of getting their money back. Why? Because they kept throwing good money after bad money instead of admitting far earlier what a mess it is.

But when the healthy economies got kicked in the shorts when the Euro was first adopted to allow the economic basket cases like Italy and Turkey to be members, the failure was already baked into the Doom Cake.

The world's leading progressive economists-- Joseph Stiglitz, among others--have been cheerleading a "no" vote and claiming that an exit from the eurozone would allow the magic elixir of devaluation to let Greece recover. I've been saying this on Twatter the last few days, but not explicitly that the EU will cave. Specifically, I believe Putin will make ovations to Greece that will seriously threaten the EU, and Tsipras knows this. If Russia makes another land-grab, it will fuel fears that Putin is re-assembling the Soviet Union, albeit with different satellites.

the Isurance Companies know and are in on this. They have had and will continue to have for the next year or so, their loses covered by the Federal Gov. It's a great deal for them. THIS is the plan. 100 The losses -- Chinese shares have shed more than a quarter of their value in three weeks -- pose an added risk, and possibly greater danger, to a global economy grappling with Greece's difficulties in repaying foreign loans and its possible exit from the euro. About $2.7 trillion in value has evaporated since the Chinese stock market peaked on June 12. That is six times Greece's entire foreign debt, or 11 years of Greece's economic output.

129 maybe Levin's new book could be on the August reading list - or a Special Book Thread edition.

The power of Levin's book is in his taking virtually every major problem facing the country -- the debt, entitlements, open immigration, radical environmentalism, education, minimum wage, national security, the Constitution, and others -- and compellingly laying out the case against big government and the Left while building the case for the individual and conservatism. He then clearly lays out solutions that the entire country, including young people, should be able to rally around.

In Plunder and Deceit, Levin is unrelenting in his barrage of facts, history, and logic as he eviscerates an out-of-control government. He also explains how the federal Leviathan is destroying the nation, with calamitous consequences for future generations. The book is embargoed until its August release and we anticipate it will be a breakaway bestseller. As with his other bestsellers, Levin's scholarship is impeccable and his intellect is as sharp as ever. And as always, his passion for freedom is evident throughout the book.

130 So here's a good non-pc story.

A girl I went to college with just found out that her husband is trolling craigslist for gay hook ups. Now, this girl is liberal and "open minded" but she absolutely blasted him for the entire world to see on facebook, including tagging what appeared to be every mutual friend they shared and his entire family.

We're talking "Name of Husband has been looking to give blow jobs on craigslist. Leave me out of your STD riddled world, you cowardly jackass. No one cares if you're gay, but I sure as hell care if you give me AIDS"

Now, the gay rights activists tell me that these situations are just about men finally being true to their true selves, but something tells me the jilted wife is less than supportive here.

Of course, I just hope he didn't give her an STD and she'll be ok. They have young children too.

I had an exchange a couple of days ago with some troll named "DrewM sucks", ending with him calling me a coward because I was no longer interested in the GOP after what happened with the Tea Party(which I think was our last conservative chance at changing our current course). The GOP does not respect me any more than the Democrats did for the 25+ years I belonged to that party. IMHO, I don't believe anything short of revolution will redirect our path back to our founding principles.

Did they really think that she posed a threat to other cheese manufacturers in other EU countries?

He won't p*ss off the Democrats, because he is, at heart, one of them. I'm betting he can talk real purty to the Big-Money Republicans, too.

166 Economist from France making the point that Germany wouldn't be where it is right now if it's debt hadn't been restructured and some of it forgiven after WWII.

Some very good points and shows that it's not as black and white as some over here think that it is.

What it's really about is who will control Europe and who will determine how to bail out countries that get in trouble.

When they were all sovereigns, they had many more options to choose from plus some are saying that Greece got in trouble because it was too easy to borrow in the first place.

This isn't an excuse but it does happen on many levels where ones debt gets out of control faster than one realizes. Especially when their are economic upheavals that they can't control that now make your once manageable debt unmanageable.

I faced that myself when the company I worked for closed with little warning and was unable to find a replacement job that paid close to the same. Then when I lost that one, I had to default as I had no money to pay the debt with only enough to live on (barely).

shit happens and let no one think they're immune or that it can't happen to them.

The problem with the Klavan piece isn't him saying we should fight. The problem is that we've had our butts kicked. We don't control the media or entertainment, our votes are worthless, SCOTUS is just making it up with four "justices" who vote pretty much as a Leftist block, and some "conservatives" were very happy to go along with the homosexual marriage. So why shouldn't conservatives despair when their "leaders" are feckless and this country is far different from what it was even 20 years ago?

We've lost the country and Klavan's rah-rah doesn't change that. Admitting it is important to figure out what to do next.

176 Hell, apparently the 14th amendment repealed huge swaths of the constitution and Bill of rights so why not the 2nd amendment.

That is actually the tactic I expect the leftists to try. The 13th obviously said the draft was unconstitutional but the supreme court said the 14th over ruled the 13th - so that form of slavery is still OK - because "the state has a right to exist" or something.

Here is their argument: The 2nd is in place so that the citizens have the power to overthrow a tyrannical government. But the 14th says that the government has a right to exist - therefore the 2nd amendment is repealed - turn in your guns.

I would be just as happy with Ted Cruz but I have to ask myself --- considering the Sarah Palin levels of hate he receives from liberals and the GOP establishment (but I repeat myself) --- if he could really win.

Jeb is an establishment moderate and a sure loser. Ditto Pataki, Graham, and Christie. I am not advocating a moderate be nominated.

189 Economist from France making the point that Germany wouldn't be where it is right now if it's debt hadn't been restructured and some of it forgiven after WWII.

Minor difference: Once Germany's debt had been restructured and some forgiven, Germany then lived up to its side of the bargain and paid off the remaining debt.

Greece has already been given that opportunity twice- the first time it defaulted, the second time (this one) it rejected the opportunity.

Also, Germany was its own sovereign nation (well, East Germany was) which had control over its own currency, so it could take meaningful action to pay those debts. Greece is *not* a sovereign nation anymore (not in any way that counts), and does *not* (currently) have control over its own currency, so it *cannot* taking meaningful action to pay its debts.

I don't think anyone is saying that we should excoriate the Greeks and shun them in polite society, but their exit from the Euro is, frankly, overdue. The Euro itself is bad as implemented, and needs to be dissolved.

Well it wasn't quite like that. His point was that the Germans were acting all pious and pissy about the Greeks and were conveniently forgetting that the Germans were allowed flexibility in restructuring their debt which is why they were able to dig themselves out of the hole they dug during WWII. (yes hard work was necessary also)

He and the Germans also fail to note that they would not be where they are today if not for the largesse and the military might of the US. Or they would be a satellite of the USSR and living in poverty.

232 Economist from France making the point that Germany wouldn't be where it is right now if it's debt hadn't been restructured and some of it forgiven after WWII.

Economists from France are missing the fact that Germany repaid their remaining debt.

233 The problem with electable GOPe moderates is that they pay more attention to their 10% left-leaning views than the 90% conservative, which they largely ignore.

No, the problem is that they get put on the defensive by a media that is more than willing to paint them as George Wallace + Jerry Falwell + Archie Bunker. Go on the offense this time and set out three conservative principles and STICK WITH THEM and above all don't apologize for them.

All this talk of Germany - I'm honestly more concerned about the post wwi attempt to inflate currency to get rid of debt scenario happening in the US.

Greece can't do that if they're on the Euro, of course.

Why do I suspect the Germans repaid theirs before the French did?

Actually, his point was that they hadn't.

I'm not personally knowledgeable about the ins and outs of how that all worked. Just pointing out that the Germans were being told to quit acting like their pure as snow and never ever ever needed any help ever with their debt.

Sort of like people who look down on someone who can't make their mortgage payment and default meanwhile because they can afford it, they're going into bankruptcy and getting a clean slate.

There's no one more pious than a reformed sinner.

238 So why shouldn't conservatives despair when their "leaders" are feckless and this country is far different from what it was even 20 years ago?

Don't think of it as burying the greatest nation on earth. Think of it as the opening stages of planning the next one.

That's what keeps me sane. This too shall pass. And if all else fails, well, this world isn't all we have, is it?

Germany made their last debt payment in 2010.

242 In terms of WWII, the London Agreement of 1953 forgave 50% of Germany's debt.

For reference, the German war debt was 26% of their GDP. Greece's debt is 176% of their GDP even after multiple bailouts.

246 I guess the answer is to have a GOP candidate espouse all the progressive platitudes, feign sincerity like Bill Clinton, get him/her elected, and expect them to fcuk everyone over that voted for him/her in the general election by implementing a constitutionally conservative agenda. Is that about right?

Well, you maybe.

Seriously, I wonder if that's why the Left goes all overboard--this world is all they have, so they're all in on having there way here, while those of us on board for something after...well, we knew this world wasn't the point, right?

Yeah, I know some of the Horde aren't on board with the religion thing, but it does seem explanatory.
