Pluto update. Less than two weeks till close encounter:

New color images from NASAs New Horizons spacecraft show two very different faces of the mysterious dwarf planet, one with a series of intriguing spots along the equator that are evenly spaced. Each of the spots is about 300 miles (480 kilometers) in diameter, with a surface area roughly the size of the state of Missouri.

Scientists have yet to see anything quite like the dark spots; their presence has piqued the interest of the New Horizons science team, due to the remarkable consistency in their spacing and size. While the origin of the spots is a mystery for now......

46 The Ewok posted a link earlier about Rick Perry going after Donald Trump. I just now got round to reading it.

Along with attacking The Combover That Walked Like A Man, turns out that Perry has had another supergenius brainstorm: that the Republican Party needs to compete more aggressively for black votes.

Golly gee whillickers. Haven't we heard this before? Oh! We have. From George W. Bush. Back in 2006. When Bush insisted that the Republican contingent in the House and Senate get behind re-authorizing the sunsetting LBJ-era Voting Rights Act.

That's the same VRA which does things like carve out the deliberate "majority-minority" districts in which hard-leftist racial-identity-politics stalwarts like Sheila Jackson Lee have ironclad lifetime tenure.

Bush insisted on his being able to sign the VRA into law again as part of, wait for it, "competing more aggressively for black votes".

Bush got his way. The bill came to his desk, he signed it with enormous pomp and publicity, and the VRA and its various artificial racial sinecures were re-enshrined in federal law for another couple of decades.

Black voters then, later that year, showed their gratitude to Bush and Republicans by going to the polls in droves and voting their customary straight-ticket Democratic habit. Helping produce the massive landslide defeat of 2006 in which the GOP lost control of the Senate to Dingy Harry and of the House to Bela Pelosi.

So when we hear this malarkey coming up again from Perry, it's time to remember that it was a nice idea, that has already been tried before, and that was A MASSIVE FREAKING CATASTROPHE when it was tried before.

97 Oregon's state labor commissioner issued a gag order because Oregon has a regulation that prohibits a place of public accomodation from advertising that they will be not accomodating individuals due to race, gender, etc. and including sexual orientation.

He determined that the bakery(which is now closed) is still a place of public accomodation and the owners of said closed bakery cannot say anything about not accomodating everyone.

Someone needs their ass sued off in return.

They need to move to Texas and let Oregon rot.

Oregon is the problem. It passed a law that should not exist.

The rest of the Anglo-sphere can and has banned such utterances by private individuals.

The 1st Amendment used to be a barrier to that, but the courts have ruled that when one engages in commerce, they surrender such rights.

And now, censorship will be enforced with "commerce" as an excuse... and it will have the same limitations that the courts have for the Constitution's Commerce Clause.

O brave new world, which has such people in it!

Even better, the administrative law judge (who was appointed by the corrupt elected official in question) ruled back in April that a gag order like this cannot be issued. The corruptocrat 'over-ruled' his appointee and issued it any way.

107 Watching Jaws on AMC and wishing we were back in 1975. Where at least being a commie was considered a bad thing by most people.
