The Viacom-owned cable network quietly removed The Dukes of Hazzard from their programming schedule yesterday in the wake of recent controversy regarding the shows extensive use of the Confederate flag. The 1979-85 series had been airing twice daily.

A TV Land spokesperson confirmed via email that the series has been removed from the schedule, but offered no further comment.

They are relentless and convinced of the goodness of their cause and because of that, they will not stop. My friend's grandmother (whom I do some gardening work for now and then) was originally from Hazzard County, moved north with her husband in the Ike era. She would watch the show together with my friend some years back, and comment on the similarity of the characters to people she knew back then. Apparently the TV show was more accurate than you might think, apart from the story about "Uncle Jesse" shooting a Revenuer.

Peter Jackson had a set artist recreate Bilbo's house Bag End in his basement.

His eye for detail was such that we had to build it right down to the feather, so everything is exactly the same as the movie but its livable, set artist Bino Smith told Stuff. Smith and other Lord of the Rings, Hobbit artists and designers went to work on Jacksons 1930s mansion in Masterton, New Zealand recreating the underground hobbit hole as faithfully as possible.

And Jackson's even invited the likes Steven Spielberg and George Lucas to visit and use the hobbit hole as a playground. Bag End is underground. You have to go under tunnels to get to it, said Smith describing Jacksons ultimate tribute.

Furthermore, feminists would argue that power inequality has always been part of traditional marriage, so it's hard to argue that power inequality negates marriage.

She said she and her daughter were in LA and asked where they could drop off the cookies, and did I have a doorman? I said I had an onsite super with a ground floor office and left his #. I said they could also drop them off AG my job at Wilshire and Rodeo. What mother doesn't want to take her daughter there while on vacation? If it was out of the way, just mail them at that point. But you know what? I never heard from her again.

It's almost July now. I don't know what they're teaching these girls. Can't be bothered to deliver some fucking cookies, but they're giving out merit badges for hormone therapy.

You'd be wrong. A year or two back, I did a short series on civil forfeiture on that blog I don't have. One of the first stories I covered was a man carrying cash because he was going to buy a car. Pulled over, stupidly (in retrospect) allowed cops to search, etc.

The cops even called the person he was buying the car from to verify that was what was going on, and then decided they didn't believe that person.

Dude eventually (IIRC) got his money back, after a hugely expensive court fight.

As I mentioned slightly upthread, far more likely to see approval for polygamous marriage - because since tradition is not a basis to define marriage, why should marriage be limited to only two people. The counties who issue marriage licenses could charge by the number of individuals seeking to be married under one license and thus generate more revenue.

We learned woodcraft, orienteering, first aid, did trail restoration and shelter building on alpine trails in the CO Rockies. My daughters tried girl scouts for about a year each.
