Amazon, Ebay Ban Confederate Flags (But Not Nazi Coins, and Not Communist Flag) as Newest Identity Politics Crusade Gets a Full Head of Steam

Tapper asked this of ebay:

eBay makes some nonsense distinction:

Their explanation as to why Nazi coins are permitted, but the Confederate flag isn't is nearly as compelling as this Mensa Chapter President's:

Their explanation as to why Nazi coins are permitted, but the Confederate flag isn't is nearly as compelling as this Mensa Chapter President's:

Meanwhile we've got some more purging to do. Now we have to remove all the statues of Confederates in statehouses.

As many of you said: This is just the first demand. This demand just sets up the next fifty.

I still have no particular love of the confederate flag, but I am deadly tired of the Crusaders.

I am also, as a conservative, done with Favors for Corporations. Personally, I think that if corporations are going to serve as the eager agents of the Thought Control State, then they should be punished, not rewarded. (Second thought: Saying "punished" is too strong-- they deserve their free speech, too, and if they want to appeal only to the Identity Politics Crusaders, they should have that right. But as a conservative, I'm through with defending them against the Democrats' demands for higher taxes. If the progressives are their political allies, then let them get their tax breaks from Nancy Pelosi.)

Sorry for the light posting. I joked that I would get the Batflu today. In fact, the Batman game came, but I did not open it.

I'm actually under the weather, and doing other business that needs doing, including writing a major endorsement for Mike Flynn. It's a hard thing to do, because I am putting unreasonable demands on it: that it has to be spectacular. I fear my ambition exceeds my ability, as is sadly so often the case.

Writing is like I hear golf is: an endeavor almost deliberately designed to frustrate you and remind you you're not very good at it and never will be.

But I swear, I am not playing Batman. The game is unopened; the shrink wrap is intact.

9 Absolutely amazing how quickly this happened. Two of the biggest online shops just said "no more confederate stuff." as did Walmart.

A week ago, I could have (presumably, I actually have no idea) bought a Dukes of Hazard T-Shirt at WalMart and Rebel Flag on amazon and had it to my door in 2 days.

Now, I'd have to go on the darknet and buy it with bitcoins and have it shipped in a "discrete" box.

89 Wait till they come for Arthur Ashe

Monument Avenue, in Richmond, Virginia, is a premier example of the Grand American Avenue city planning style. The first monument, a statue of Robert E. Lee, was erected in 1890. Between 1900 and 1925, Monument Avenue exploded with architecturally significant houses, churches and apartment buildings. A tree-lined grassy mall divides the east- and westbound sides of the street and is punctuated by statues memorializing Virginian Confederate participants of the Civil War Robert E. Lee, J.E.B. Stuart, Jefferson Davis, Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, and Matthew Fontaine Maury, as well as Arthur Ashe, a Richmond native and international tennis star.

Yes it is. After the trade and associated deals are confirmed the management of individual rights, Laws and Trade in The United States will be decided by a handful of "experts" in International Law outside the Country. There are about 50 recognized "experts" that are considered competent to arbitrate between Nations in the future who sign on and I think a panel of between 3-12 will run the USA but there are no representatives for citizens. There's plenty of historical evidence. Take Japan's, for example. Japan is a nation that became industrialized in the 19th century and saw its influence rapidly expand, especially through the 1930s. Then, in 1945, something horrible happened to that country. Twice, in fact. It was just awful. And now you see Toyotas all over America but you never see a Chevy in Tokyo.

So the deal seems to be that since the drug-addled nut case who shot up the churchgoers in South Carolina claims to have been inspired by the Confederate flag, that flag must be ruthlessly purged from public view.

The drug-addled nut case who shot up the movie theater patrons in Colorado thought he was the Joker. Do we ruthlessly purge the Batman canon from public view?

Consider it a part-time job and do several items every single day. Che items and Communist kitsch stuff are especially vulnerable since Ebay can't hide behind a historical exception for these.

215 No need to go door to door on banning guns.

1) stop all ammunition sales either by outright ban or taxes

2) make the use, carry or purchase of all firearms illegal or impose onerous restrictions in sales and registration.

3) ban all ranges and firearms sale stores.

4) use the fairly well current lists of carry permittees and owners for confiscation.

they may not be able to repossess all firearms but they will make it very difficult to use without discovery and thus penalty.

The only answer will be rebellion not disobedience or refusal to cooperate.

It got a big laugh. No one flipped out about it.

Whereas just a short while ago, Mark Steyn got in hot water with the editorial board at _National Review_ simply for quoting the Hope joke in a piece about gay identity politics.

249 At the risk of being a "racial tribal-ist", I think this is a glowing example of a situation in which the Right/conservatives need to play the "illustrate absurdity with absurdity" game and demand that any rainbow flags or Che shirts, Soviet flag, etc. being "banned". Pick one, one the left loves, one with a dirty history, and beat that single drum so loudly that it blots on the lefties rant du jour using the same tactics as the Left. Same thing as "what about black on white crime..." - it takes the point the lefties are trying to make and waters it down by using other examples to illustrate that their "concern" is grossly disproportionate or even completely unjustified, and that their little hissy fit/"new rules" can work both ways.

Every time the lefty whack a mole pops up, bash it down with one directed from the right. Next step after that is to beat them to it and raise your own preemptively.

It's Alinsky turned on ass over teakettle- beat them with their own rules while making damn sure those rules end up benefiting your side of the aisle.

Because in less than 7 days the Supreme Court is going to say that fags have a civil right to call themselves "married."

And if you thought the SJW were shrill now . . .

They are about to get the one big victory they needed to legally--and criminally--punish any and every thought they find offensive.

Sure, it starts with "you can't say fags can't be married--that's discrimination."

Because the Court will hand them the template, foundation and encouragement: "You managed to make any bad thoughts about homosexuals illegal. Now: What other thoughts ought to be illegal?"

Either we learn to fight back or . . . .

We're at the top of that slope, but what's really dangerous is that the Left is discovering more and more that there are NO BRAKES on them: they can roar through our entire country wreaking havoc at will, because there is no effective counterattack to their culture war.

This isn't South Carolina looking at the fact they're flying the Confederate Flag at their State House, and saying, "You know, maybe that's a bit tasteless."

This is South Carolina being bullied into removing the flag.

The fact is that many of us in the South are very, very proud of our Confederate heritage. This is not simply an attack on the flag, but on that heritage.

To bad the Yankees weren't cool with Lee. Tthey took Lee's property. Arlington Cemetery was his estate. Then, of course, they lied about his citizenship and it took an act of congress to give him his citizenship back and pay him for this land.

Right we trust Yankees all day long.

I don't and I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me. It's sad and wrong what they did to Lee then. All property should have been handed back to their owners/heirs after the war, except for Ft. Bragg and the occupation bases.

Why not? Prohibition was just as much of our history as the Civil War was. It didn't work out. Big deal. Maybe a memorial would keep reminding us of that.
