Oh and I agree about the superheroics to a certain extent but I think the real issue didn't start with Stan Lee as much as it did the people after him. Yeah, he only hired fellow political travelers but I doubt even he realized how far they would go. I doubt he thought they would quit writing to kids either and write comics solely to aging leftists and weird grad-school sex-scenester kids (LGBTABCEFG) to slowly diminishing returns propped up only by films and cartoons for children. In fact, if anything, that's the biggest knock on what superheroes have become. It's adults stealing the dreams of children to prop up their own sad fantasies. Note that this is all due to the crime of 'structuring' where perfectly legal activities - depositing or withdrawing amounts under $10,000 - become a felony when done a little too often. So how often and how close to $10,000 do you need to be to be guilty of 'structuring'? Well that's up to the government to decide. Because the war on drugs that's why. chemtrails: Way back in the 80s I drove down to Vegas in my convertible, coming back I spent the night in a motel in St George Utah and got an early start north the next morning. As I drove the hundreds of miles of flat straight highway across desert/semi-desert I noticed that the crystal-clear blue sky was slowly being marked by jet trails that didn't disappear, they just hung there and slowly bloated into strips of cloud. I figured I was passing under major jetways to and from LA, San Fran, Denver, anyway, by mid-morning the many dozens of jet trails had expanded and blended together completely covering the crystal-clear blue sky with high light grey clouds. I never realized that it was the government spraying chemicals to kill all the honey bees! Plus global warming or something.

China's been stockpiling precious metal for years and stopped buying long-term debt years ago. In other words, they've been planning on rolling out a new currency anyway. Crashing our currency will be the opening salvo. Russia has been practicing shutting down stock exchanges for years. North Korea has the ability to launch a nuke at us from orbit over the South Pole to set off an EMP that would affect the entire contiguous US. This will all happen simultaneously. Once they convince the Saudis to abandon the petrodollar system, we're finished.

Yeah. We'll actually have to start making stuff for ourselves again. What a tragedy. And: Africa is the world's petri dish. It just is. Nothing to do with the inhabitants except that that's the major reason why they never built any real empires in the jungle and still haven't. The only survivors long term are those who belong to a tribe. Ergo; tribalism is the go to state of politics there. That and wondering what nasty disease will crop up next in your village and why is the water always brown. If Africa could just clean up it's water supply continent wide, the whole world would be amazed at what would happen. Alas that ol' debbil tribalism and strong man attitude raises their ugly machetes and spikes any cooperation and consensus. Can't be having any other foci of power in the boonies. Well, I have survived about two weeks of house remodel, fumes, dust and much whining (mine).
I am missing all of the good posts by Ace due to either Mountain Time or melting last three brain cells. I am bummed out I missed Hillary's accent post. What a loser she is. I have to wonder the type of tunic tent she wore (picked out by her faithful Huma). Perhaps one with cotton bolls hanging off bazooms. Especially if tunic is green. Now, children, green is my favorite color. I have green eyes, although my new driver's license declares them blue (I wrote green and am not sure if this is going to be important in event of traffic stuff). But at a certain age green makes you look, well (wail in Hil-speak), as if there is a blockage of bile. It does you no favors. So do note if she is wearing green whoever her "stylist" is has an agenda. Also her not settling on a hairstyle from day to day. She is insecure as well as using a walker due to cankles. Where was i? Oh, Maet, darlin'...I am so sorry about the sinus infection. I would rather have surgery than that, and I speak from much of a long and snotz history. I did find that raw garlic helps if you can get it down the ole gullet (does not win friends or spousal approval, but I do not care when I have this type of hell (hail sayz Hil). I read about this "cure" and, while temporary, it works: ! small can V-8 or tomato juice 1 clove garlic, minced, raw dash Tabasco (I assume here you could add vodka or gin) Anyway, heat the tomato juice in microwave til warm or about 1 minute, in cup. Add garlic and Tabasco. Drink. Somehow the garlic goes down easier. I guarontee (in best cajun voice) that you will breathe easier in an hour or so. Your spouse will also clear room for you, so win-win if you vant to be alone like Garbo. Also! A doctor told me to gargle with Listerine when coming down with crap as stuff gets back in your throat and percolates more bacteria/virus/gomboo. That works well, too as a preventative measure...and, I guess, may tone down the garlic. xoxo Posted by: ChristyBlinky, Redneck Queen at May 28, 2015 12:02 AM (FCPu0) 284

All they have to do is call in the debt. Aren't we already a wholly owned subsidiary? Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That at May 27, 2015 11:38 PM (zRby/) US Treasury notes do not come with a "call" option. The Chinese can dump their securities by selling them on the open market, which would result in them losing a bunch of the face value, and somebody else (probably the Japanese) would then earn a higher implicit rate of interest after the transaction was completed at the discounted prices which the market would create for those specific transactions. The rest of the Treasury market would remain relatively unaffected. Posted by: A. Guy at May 28, 2015 12:05 AM (1EJIj) 293

Good quote on comics in recent decades, particularly re Marvel. Stopped writing for kids. The crunch, as far as I was concerned was during the Jemas-Quesada tenure, IIRC, when the editors were writing replies to letters regarding the direction the titles were going in with a "fuck you, we don't need you. Bye bye." Also dropping the comics codes authority standards. I think people like Claremont, Miller et al shoulder much of the blame.

The discounted price is warranted as long as we keep inflating the money supply. That cash flow is worth less and less the farther into the future you go, because the money supply gets bigger and bigger. The new buyer could still lose even at a discounted price.

The North Korean EMP has rendered all electronics useless
Somebody in DHS leaked last year that North Korea indeed has that capability. They successfully put a satellite in orbit over the South Pole, and we have no missile defenses for anything coming from the south. Posted by: Tony at May 27, 2015 11:57 PM (Uff7i) That is not an accurate description of the orbit or the capabilities of that stupid North Korean satellite (KMS-3-2); nor does it take into account the hardening that has been applied to US military systems to enable command continuity in the event of an EMP attack. I am not happy about the fact that civilian systems have not been similarly hardened, but mis-representing and over-stating the Norks capabilities serves no rational purpose. Posted by: A. The thing that could affect the Treasury market the most is low faith that they could be redeemed. In which case the interest rates would rise considerably. Then the US would have to pay alot more to finance the govt. In which case, they probably couldn't do it without some crazy effects on the economy, but the Fed would probably just monetize them at 0%. Hey! kinda like now. Of course, if we had sovereign money things could be different but that's a whole different discussion. Posted by: Guy Mohawk at May 28, 2015 12:23 AM (ODxAs) 352

However, North Korea has shown the ability to launch toward the South Pole and send its satellite into orbit across the south polar region. The U.S. currently has no missile defense assets, no early warning radars and no interceptors devoted to stopping a missile coming from the south. Where a satellite can go, a nuclear warhead can also go. North Korea orbited its satellite at an altitude optimum for an EMP attack on the contiguous 48 United States.

177 China won't win, but Obama might surrender.
Posted by: eman at May 27, 2015 11:36 PM (MQEz6) We've got the best trained troops in the world, but they can't fight 3 or 4 simultaneous fronts. Those troops are also led by feckless hacks above the O-6 level. China would shrug off 100,000 casualties as a rounding error, Obama would throw in the towel after 10,000. Under elitists leading us now, we don't get into fights where we don't have unopposed air cover. China is probably thinking of pushing it to the brink, knowing that Lurch and Obama would mainly fight this with hashtags and rhetoric. The Chinese know they could get everything they want by giving Lurch and Obama an "historical agreement" that would get them massive orgasmic applause from the MSM and a big sigh of relief and gratitude from draft eligible juiceboxers Posted by: kbdabear at May 28, 2015 12:43 AM (GrXXa) 385

Question for Maetenloch: has something changed with the way that Pixy renders hashes? For quite a long time, my hash here from my home computer was constant; now it seems to change on a near-daily basis. Now today, about four hours ago, I had a power bump here, related to a thunderstorm a few miles north, that shut down my computer, and most likely rebooted the modem for my wireless Internet. But I have been getting my hash changed frequently with no action on my part.

I once had a horse named Tony. He was pretty stupid with a tough mouth. He lived for the trough, though, and could get up a wee jog for that. Does that sound like this guy? He seemed cranky, too.
Our horses did not last long on the farm, mainly because my dear departed(city boy) Daddy thought he could "break them." The horse (not Tony but his bud "Rusty," threw Daddy and broke his arm instead of the other way around of breaking a horse. Right in front of us Daddy developed a Popeye elbow, asked my Mom to "pop it back in" as we watched it swell. She just told him to get in the car to go to the ER. Say good bye to the horses, y'all. Instead, ride the goat. We did not have a dull childhood. Posted by: ChristyBlinky, Redneck Queen at May 28, 2015 02:03 AM (FCPu0) 525

Arson Wells, I hope Toni has not changed the rules about talking about Daddy's. Mine was a WWII Marine. A great mix of gentleman, wicked humor and wit, smart, inventive, hard worker (had his own business), educated, and a wonderful Dad and husband who put us first. I am one lucky daughter. I read, on Memorial Day, that "Some people spend their entire lives wondering if they made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem." I miss him daily and always will (he left this earth in 2009).

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at May 28, 2015 05:51 AM (GpgJl) I oppose all Blue laws. The court may have upheld them in the case of alcohol sales but it's still wrong for the state to restrict legal activities on a specific day solely out of deference to a particular religion. If you're okay with no liquor sales on Sunday, why not a ban on liquor sales on Friday too? Posted by: Maetenloch at May 28, 2015 05:59 AM (wqVD1) 575
I can understand where the Good Minister is coming from. However not all Christians celebrate Sunday as the Sabbath Day. Seventh Day Adventists still celebrate Saturday as the Sabbath.
Then there Mennonites such as myself that rotate from Saturday to Sunday depending on the availability of a Minister. Anyway, Jesus himself took care of this whole issue. Mark 2:27. Posted by: Luap Nor's last brain cell at May 28, 2015 06:05 AM (6yehy) 576

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at May 28, 2015 06:08 AM (GpgJl) Well Tennessee is only marginally better. The county where Jack Daniels is made is still dry despite the fact that a clear majority want to allow liquor sales. But apparently the original law that banned alcohol sales had a provision that it could only repealed by an equal number of votes as the original law - and the population has declined quite a bit since the original law was passed. Frankly I don't see how it can be constitutional for a law to tie the hands of future voters in repealing it based solely on absolute votes but I guess no one's bothered to take it to court so far.
