Thanks to a sinus infection that's been grinding me down please accept this stripped-down even pithier ONT.

Oh and I agree about the superheroics to a certain extent but I think the real issue didn't start with Stan Lee as much as it did the people after him. Yeah, he only hired fellow political travelers but I doubt even he realized how far they would go. I doubt he thought they would quit writing to kids either and write comics solely to aging leftists and weird grad-school sex-scenester kids (LGBTABCEFG) to slowly diminishing returns propped up only by films and cartoons for children. In fact, if anything, that's the biggest knock on what superheroes have become. It's adults stealing the dreams of children to prop up their own sad fantasies. Sort of a good picture of the current Left in the world. Globalized and living off the young for the privilege of the few. Who'd a guessed there was so much in comics

NRA vs. Rev. Creech on Sunday Hunting in NC

Well the NRA went a bit too far in lumping all opposition to allowing hunting on Sundays in NC as animal rights activists but then Rev. Creech has no real argument for keeping hunting illegal other than his holy book says so (according to his interpretation). I see no reason for the state to enforce restrictions on legal activities by weekday that are unique to a single religion.

Secret Service Tried to Steal $115,000 From a Couple, Court Orders It Returned

After transferring money to straighten out their finances with the bank, the Bednars learned just what had happened with the $115,018.01 they had in their bank account: The United States Secret Service seized the money.
"We got no warning," Tom Bednar said in an interview with The Daily Signal. "Nothing."

After months of litigation against the United States government, Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen West moved to dismiss the case earlier this month, meaning the Bednars will get their money back.
However, the government refused to cover the Bednars' $25,000 in legal fees, which the couple is entitled to under the Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Act.

Note that this is all due to the crime of 'structuring' where perfectly legal activities - depositing or withdrawing amounts under $10,000 - become a felony when done a little too often. So how often and how close to $10,000 do you need to be to be guilty of 'structuring'? Well that's up to the government to decide. Because the war on drugs that's why.

How Berry Gordy Created Motown

In 2013, a CBS News reporter asked Berry Gordy Jr. at age 83 about his success. He replied, "I took some risks, and they all paid off, big time. I mean, really big time."
The risks he took helped improve race relations at a time of national angst over integration by putting together the songwriters, singers and musicians who would turn the Motor City into Hitsville USA with a little record company called simply Motown. But he had no such lofty, altruistic goal. He told the same reporter, "My thought was make the music, make the money, and get some girls. That was it. Not necessarily in that order."

Born in Detroit on November 28, 1929, Gordy was the seventh of the eight children of Berry Gordy Sr. and Bertha Fuller Gordy, who had moved to Michigan in 1922 seeking to escape the poverty, segregation and cotton of Sandersville, Georgia. His grandfather was the son of plantation owner James Thomas Gordy and one of his female slaves, Esther Johnson, which made Berry Gordy Jr. a distant relative of President Carter.

Berry Gordy Jr.'s first pursuit of fame, females and fortune -- not necessarily in that order -- came as a professional boxer. He dropped out of high school in 11th grade, which would be like dropping out of college today. Nevertheless, early on his relatives considered Gordy the black sheep of the family. He did well as a boxer, winning ten bouts, losing three and drawing twice. But in 1951, the Army drafted him and sent him to the war in Korea. Discharged in 1953, Gordy opened a jazz record store in Detroit. His customers wanted blues music. His store failed.
He married the former Thelma Morrison and went to work as an upholsterer for Lincoln-Mercury, a job that paid well but he wanted more. He wrote songs. After two years, he had enough with assembling cars and tried his hand as a full-time songwriter. Had he hung on just another 28 years, he could have retired with a nice pension in 1984 at age 55.

But he gave up that good union job anyway.

90 chemtrails: Way back in the 80s I drove down to Vegas in my convertible, coming back I spent the night in a motel in St George Utah and got an early start north the next morning. As I drove the hundreds of miles of flat straight highway across desert/semi-desert I noticed that the crystal-clear blue sky was slowly being marked by jet trails that didn't disappear, they just hung there and slowly bloated into strips of cloud. I figured I was passing under major jetways to and from LA, San Fran, Denver, anyway, by mid-morning the many dozens of jet trails had expanded and blended together completely covering the crystal-clear blue sky with high light grey clouds. I never realized that it was the government spraying chemicals to kill all the honey bees! Plus global warming or something.

Where was i? Oh, Maet, darlin'...I am so sorry about the sinus infection. I would rather have surgery than that, and I speak from much of a long and snotz history. I did find that raw garlic helps if you can get it down the ole gullet (does not win friends or spousal approval, but I do not care when I have this type of hell (hail sayz Hil). I read about this "cure" and, while temporary, it works:
! small can V-8 or tomato juice
1 clove garlic, minced, raw
dash Tabasco
(I assume here you could add vodka or gin)

Anyway, heat the tomato juice in microwave til warm or about 1 minute, in cup. Add garlic and Tabasco. Drink. Somehow the garlic goes down easier. I guarontee (in best cajun voice) that you will breathe easier in an hour or so. Your spouse will also clear room for you, so win-win if you vant to be alone like Garbo.

Also! A doctor told me to gargle with Listerine when coming down with crap as stuff gets back in your throat and percolates more bacteria/virus/gomboo. That works well, too as a preventative measure...and, I guess, may tone down the garlic. xoxo

US Treasury notes do not come with a "call" option. The Chinese can dump their securities by selling them on the open market, which would result in them losing a bunch of the face value, and somebody else (probably the Japanese) would then earn a higher implicit rate of interest after the transaction was completed at the discounted prices which the market would create for those specific transactions. The rest of the Treasury market would remain relatively unaffected.

The thing that could affect the Treasury market the most is low faith that they could be redeemed. In which case the interest rates would rise considerably. Then the US would have to pay alot more to finance the govt. In which case, they probably couldn't do it without some crazy effects on the economy, but the Fed would probably just monetize them at 0%. Hey! kinda like now.

Of course, if we had sovereign money things could be different but that's a whole different discussion.

I was perscribed Flunisolide about 8 years ago for a screaming sinus infection that made me blow my nose so much the interiors of my nostrils got chapped and prone to nose-bleeds.

The only worse thing was applying petrolatum with a que-tip. Urgh.

It and the antibiotics worked wonders and it also helped a lot with my allergies.

You can't keep a geostationary satellite over the South Pole, or the North Pole, for that matter. There are a great many satellites in polar orbits now; the GPS constellation being one such group. Unless the Norks develop ballistic missile submarines, all their launches can be monitored.

Use distilled water.

I've found such things useful, but the serious sinus infections I acquire (usually from traveling from hell-holes like DC) will almost always result in chronic bronchitis for which I'll eventually need to get antibiotics. Perhaps if I grind up and snort the Airborne effervescent tablets....

If you're hash changes, it's because the ip address the comment was posted with has changed. Since you're on something of a long-distance LAN, I wouldn't be surprised if you're being given a constant local subnet ip by the IP provider that's different from what the outside world sees.

Thanks. Nothing has changed on my end, other than me upgrading my computer and loading Win7 on it. But the changing hashes preceded that, I think. And I am pretty sure my era of long-standing hashes had its share of power bumps and modem shutdowns, too. So I suspect it has to do with how the ISP is handling IP addresses.

Thankfully, no. Someone went after me for silly reasons but acted like the Russian mob in doing so.....which has left me scrambling financial assets out from underneath the wreckage. If he'd hit Fidelity with the [login I stupidly used across several institutions] and the [password I stupidly used across several institutions] before I'd recognized it, things would have been immeasurably worse. I've shifted a buttload of crap into safe harbors. You may remember that I was complaining about having to use Quicken to remind myself where all my shit was parked? Well, I've got good news and bad news......

That's left a raft of financial institutions like Fidelity pissed about losing my business, but the guy has a way of spreading love and happiness everywhere he goes.

I oppose all Blue laws. The court may have upheld them in the case of alcohol sales but it's still wrong for the state to restrict legal activities on a specific day solely out of deference to a particular religion. If you're okay with no liquor sales on Sunday, why not a ban on liquor sales on Friday too?

575 I can understand where the Good Minister is coming from. However not all Christians celebrate Sunday as the Sabbath Day. Seventh Day Adventists still celebrate Saturday as the Sabbath.

Then there Mennonites such as myself that rotate from Saturday to Sunday depending on the availability of a Minister.

Anyway, Jesus himself took care of this whole issue. Mark 2:27.

I agree 100%. The beer laws here in SC have been somewhat loosened depending on which county you live in, but liquor laws are still zero tolerance. And they are in the damn State Constitution so they are impossible to change.

My biggest problem with them is my neighbor is a lush and she NEVER gets liquor on Sat for use on Sun. So every Sun she shows up like clockwork to raid my liquor cabinet.

Well Tennessee is only marginally better. The county where Jack Daniels is made is still dry despite the fact that a clear majority want to allow liquor sales. But apparently the original law that banned alcohol sales had a provision that it could only repealed by an equal number of votes as the original law - and the population has declined quite a bit since the original law was passed.

Frankly I don't see how it can be constitutional for a law to tie the hands of future voters in repealing it based solely on absolute votes but I guess no one's bothered to take it to court so far.

I'm not sure how much a pint costs here but I would bet it is more than $7.50. We have some of the highest liquor prices in the country.
