Hollywood Hates You and Spits On All Of Your Values

The proof: This remake.

Because a character as compelling as "Jonny Utah" couldn't be allowed to sit the twenty-first century out.

Oh by the way, thanks to @rsmccain, here's your daily dose of pointless, frivolous little-girl feminist "rebellion."

At least it's actual children engaging in this silliness, instead of 37-year-old womgirls.

Update: Coming soon -- Goonies 2.

2 Well I was never planning on watching it. But yeah Hollywood has an aversion to risk so they are always remaking previous titles.

But then when something like Moses remake gets green-lighted, Ridley Scott thinks he can go all super creative. And produce true drek.

that's not true, not the way you seem to intend it.

Hollywood has "always" remade movies -- at the pace of one every two or three years.

In the past eight years, they have shifted to making five, six, eight remakes per year.

They should remake the Quantum Leap series.

The NBC-owned over-the-air channel CoziTV ran a Quantum Leap marathon yesterday. For it, they had the shithead Neil Degrasse Tyson as a guest to provide insight during commercial breaks.

Tyson managed to inject race into it. The black host asked Tyson if he'd like to go back in time. Tyson said no way, he'd rather go forward in time because the past was dangerous for black men like him and the host.

Tyson mostly talked about the stars, but only in general terms...TV-dumb-audience terms. He's a bullshitter.

This "Point Break" film, which features a lot of scenes of "base
jumping" with "extreme sports" guys in wingsuits, couldn't have been
released at a more tasteless and awkward moment, considering that just
in the last couple weeks there were not one, not two, but three major
wingsuit base-jumping disasters, in which four extreme sports guys have
died doing it.

At the exact moment in history when base-jumping became uncool and stupid, they release a movie revolving around it. Brilliant.

Posted by: zombie at May 26, 2015 07:46 PM (jBuUi)

Never saw the original film. I'd take issue with the use of the term "disaster" to describe what happens when the laws of physics catch up with people doing stupid stunts. Perhaps, "karma" would fit better.

216 183 I want to see a remake of Zardoz. Never be done, except with Zed recast as a woman, played by Scarlett Johansson, as Ms. Zed the Exterminator/Victoria Secret model who discovers her betrayal of being trained to keep the Brutals ignorant and subject so the Elites can hog the Tabernacle.

And the giant head vomiting guns would be made to look exactly like Karl Marx on purpose.
Posted by: Kindltot

You mean -- it wasn't on purpose the first time?

I want to see a whole franchise based on the Zardoz Universe.

(Key feature in the original film: All the wussified urban males in the "safe zone" are impotent, whereas the mustachioed libertarian outlaws are capable of giant boners on command. The proggie chicks lust after the real he-men, needless to say.)

On second thought, maybe this is too close to reality now...

310 Let's remake Over the Top as a gross out comedy! But instead of a man, we'll have a lesbian who's arm wrestling evil Republicans who have kidnapped her adopted Chinese-Ethipopian baby.

Who'll play her?.....the fat chick from Bridesmaids, of course!

I thought they did a good job not ruining True Grit. The story remained basically the same, but the panoramic shots were amazing. That said, while they didn't ruin it, there wasn't much point to remaking it. The original was as good or better, and they could just as well have written a new western for the scenery.

316 Saw the new "Mad Max" over the weekend.

Great action flick.

Not at all the big bag o' feminist diarrhea that I was dreading.

They did take a little too long to unleash Max but once they do the movie really comes alive.

The sort of movie that needs to be seen on a big screen with a great sound system.

Stellar world building and I love the way they just dump you in the action without an explanation and let you catch up as Mad Max does.

Check it out.

Posted by: Thunderb at May 26, 2015 08:49 PM (zOTsN)

431 OK so Point Break 2 does not have the late great Patrick Swayze in it. Instead of Keanau Reeves as the improbable FBI agent we have a guy who might be able to act as the improbable FBI agent. Instead of Gary Busey chewing the FBI scenery we have Samuel Jackson. Instead of being rebels without a clue the robbers are black-clad anarchists. Instead of color the movie is shot in black, blue, and white.

It still might not suck.

CGI Gremlins in a remake might look good, or they might look even faker than the puppets in the first one. Spike and the boys were supposed to be unreal critters, and we had lower expectations in those days since movies were only $4 in flyover country so they looked pretty good.

527 Wow. I ain't about to read 430 comments before I post my own. So here goes.

I know that Hollywood hates my values and would love to crush the ideas that I treasure. I agree with this bit.

HOWEVER, (and this pains me a just a little bit), I would not be upset if some rogue criminals "liberated" billions of dollars-as long as they took it from the _wrong_ people. Money from the likes of Soros, Comcast, Goldman-Sachs, Buffet, Bloomberg and other left wing dog-dirt should be freed.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit. Crony Capitilism / Corporatism is NOT the same thing as capitalism.

529 Concerning villains with outrageous accents, I watched a con interview for the anniversary of Buckaroo Banzai on YouTube the other day. John Leguzimo said for years he cringed at the thought of meeting an Italian who would upbraid him for Doctor Emilio "Laugh while you can monkey boy." Lizardo. (He can still do the lines with the accent.) Then one day he was in Italy and did indeed meet a man who was a fan of the movie. The Italian man had the same accent!

544 "Alien" is pretty much a remake of "It, The Creature From Outer Space", where an alien (natch) gets on an Earthbound ship (from Mars, in ITCFOS, I think), and slowly batters its way up through the successive levels of the cigar-shaped ship, killing crewmembers as it goes. In the final scene, the last surviving crew member blows the creature out the airlock.

547 I think Breitbart was right, (culture is upstream from politics,) but I think even further upstream are the schools.

The
truth is, so many people have wrong ideas because (a) they are young
and start out with 100% of their knowledge stuff they were told, and by
college it is probably still something like 90%. and (b) All they are
told for the first 22+ years of their lives is liberal crap.

Conservatives are made in the real world. and that takes time and experience. Progressives are made in the schools.

don't blame hollywood. blame the schools.

552 If you guys don't like how Hollywood hates you and your bullshit values, you should really just stop watching. Just stop watching every movie, tv show, and commercial - they're ALL made by people who fucking HATE you. I know, because I work in it. And yes, you're all correct. Hollywood is run, bought, and sold by die hard liberals who despise your principles and that will never change.
