The New York Times notes that the Hillary Clinton "keepsake" shop is open, serving as yet another progressive tax on stupidity.

I guess maybe I approve of that. Frankly, we should have more progressive taxes on stupidity. It's been subsidized way too long.

I recall one time being in a courtroom, when this female defense attorney swooshed into the room, wearing a short skirt, F-me pumps... and anklet socks. Needless to say, she was well-tanned, the neckline was plungy, and frankly, given that she was well north of 40, she looked pretty darned great.

Totally inappropriate for court, but... well, everyone from the judge to the prosecutor, to the other defense attys, to the clerk, the bailiff, and essentially everyone else was really really nice to her, so I guess it worked.

Well, in the sense that the pop culture and K-12 education system (and of course, "higher education" system) are part of it, too, then no i guess I can't blame the media exclusively.

But I know a LOT of people in super liberal new england who live their lives and have beliefs fully in line with mine, but would never in a million years vote for Republicans. Because the media tells them Republicans are hate-filled bigoted extremists.

They don't have any specifics on that, but that's the general sense they've gotten from watching ABC/CBS/NBC their entire lives, plus some CNN thrown in the mix.

We had one judge who would pitch a fit if anyone used first names in court. This meant when the lawyer was questioning his/her own witness, no first names at any point during the questioning. That's hard to remember when you've been using the first name for your client for years.

I recall one time being in a courtroom, when this female defense attorney swooshed into the room, wearing a short skirt, F-me pumps... and anklet socks. Needless to say, she was well-tanned, the neckline was plungy, and frankly, given that she was well north of 40, she looked pretty darned great.

Totally inappropriate for court, but... well, everyone from the judge to the prosecutor, to the other defense attys, to the clerk, the bailiff, and essentially everyone else was really really nice to her, so I guess it worked.

I typically stick to that rule in court/depositions. I made an exception last year when the d-bag opposing lawyer instructed the court reporter to refer to him as "Dr."on the depsotiion transcript becuase he had a PhD. I called him by his first name becuase it pissed him off and he was annoying.

"military-industrial complex": 80% of spending

Yeah he literally did. He later admitted that he'd lied totally about Sacco and Vanzetti because he was afraid what his fellow travelers would do if he told the truth.

Sinclair basically had the cause and he was good at spreading it even if he had to make up things to get it done. Its not that everything he said about a subject was nonsense, just that when the truth wouldn't do he was not above just inventing things.
