Cue the crying like a 6 year old with a skinned knee about how you're
going to leave gaming because you're too old or that there will always be consoles because magic. I last played a console game on a PS2 (or was it a PS/2?). I really though that mobile and console would converge and the PS3/Wii (did MS make a console? I don't care, actually, they're shit and their consoles were shit too) would be the last generation of pure, sit-down, plug into the TeeVee stuff. I understand this is about GPUs, but my experience is this: I had trouble with a bunch of Opteron processors years ago and have not touched AMD stuff ever since. Some people love AMD CPUs because "they're not Intel," the same way some people like anything that is not Microsoft. To each his / her own. I like stuff that quietly gets the job done. Posted by: Ashley Judd's Puffy Scamper, Team Jacob at May 24, 2015 03:36 PM ________ First of all, General Mills offered perfectly good monster cereals. If you wanted a vampire, there was Count Chocula; if you wanted a werewolf, there was Frute Brute. Secondly, "Twilight" was too stupid to warrant a breakfast cereal. AMD's last Catalyst WQHL driver was 161 days ago, and the company hasn't announced one on the horizon. Okay, that's pretty bad--maybe even worse than my cereal pun. I've had a pretty good run with my current AMD Phenom II-based gaming system and I'm not looking to upgrade the CPU/mainboard for a while longer. But, stuff like this keeps me away from their GPUs. Same happened with that last Ultima, "Ascension". What a buggy POS. I give the Gauntlet devs a lot of credit for going back and fixing everything. The first airing of "Witcher" was buggy too, and their developer put out a public apology and a fixed game. This machine's AMD. The graphics freeze up on such intensive works of software as "Microsoft Live Mail". It is also unable to handle "American McGee's Alice" half the time and "Dungeon Siege" all the time. The sweet-spot for it choking on games seems to be the early 32-bit era; it can handle 16-bits like "Alien Legacy" just fine (on a DOSBOX emulator), and it also managed "Mass Effect 2". haven't been playing too many games of late. might play some magicka now that you mention it, as I only played an hour or two of it and it struck me as decent. gotten on an FTL kick of late, and finally beat it on hard a couple times (had only ever tried hard a few times, and hadn't played in several months after beating it on normal with every ship). my LMB is going to crap, so that's adding quite a bit of challenge to any gaming (or even internet browsing) until I go get a new mouse

Even though I grew up in the 80s, I can't remember much in the way of Pac-Man merchandise. I distinctly remember eating ET cereal on the day my family moved to a new house; I can also remember eating the Nintendo cereals circa 1988 or so. Good times. Sad to see AMD headed where they are. Update to the dead thread:
Many in various forums have reported performance increases on their Kepler-based cards by downgrading to driver 347.88. I found a ~5% performance increase in Dragon Age: Inquisition and no increase on Hitman: Absolution by doing so. I figured that those two are the most demanding games in my inventory. Interestingly, the performance for H:A is virtually the same regardless of running at 1080 vs. 720. Posted by: antisocial justice beatnik at May 25, 2015 02:56 PM (l3LvV) 97
