64 I thought Bruce Campbell was an most excellent supporting actor, but in the commentary on the DVD he tends to take over the conversation. It left me with the impression that the character in Burn Notice was himself, not acting. Just the impression I got from hearing him talk. Perhaps he was just 'in character' for the commentary.

That is a skill an actor must have, the ability to put on and take off an artificially constructed persona. He might be a completely different person in real life, or in another TV series. I'm just an innocent bystander, what do I know?

________

Same with Tommy Lee Jones and Al Gore. By 2000, Gore was so obsessed with Jones that the vice president couldn't distinguish between real people and movie roles. By the end of that year, Gore was so jealous that Tommy Lee Jones went into outer space (in "Space Cowboys") that Gore contested the election that he lost, just to one-up his old roommate.

Similar themes can be found in "An Inconvenient Truth" if you watch closely.

Even if you are viewing the picture in person the color temperature of the lighting effects what you are seeing a great deal; things look very different under different lighting, but your eye compensates - so most people don't notice it.

Within the limits of the jpeg color filters, a color managed display will give true colors - the average out of the box LCD - not so much.

133 The Texas Legislature appears poised to approve a bill that would allow college students to carry firearms to class. Once the law, called 'campus carry,' is passed, public universities in Texas will not be allowed to ban guns on their campuses, although private schools could enact their own prohibitions.

Its backers argue that students have the right to protect themselves on campuses with handguns. The lobbying extends to sponsoring crash courses such as the NRA University, a two-hour seminar course for college students.

With this proposed law, a question coming up for many academics is whether they would be forced to give A grades to undeserving students, just so they can avoid being shot.

I went to a Monet exhibition once with an art collector friend. She pointed out one work and said it originally sold to a patron of the artist for about $14.
Similarly, Jimi Hendrix signed a one-off contract for an album with an agent before he was famous to literally get enough money for a pack of cigarette, about $2, and released "A band of Gypsies" at his peak and got zero money for it other than mechanical rights I think.
I myself expect to be celebrated after my death for my witty reparte and clever insight.

I have some hippy neighbors who insist on trying out every third world type of housing, gardening and livestock raising.
None of it has lasted more than two years, but has managed to wreak havoc on their property and caused more than one clash with neighbors and local officials.

Why people want to prove you can grow a huge garden with no tractor, no rototiller, no weed control, or that pigs and goats will not only keep your fields weed free but they will thrive in such an environment is beyond me.

These folks are college educated by the way.

I do not understand the current millenial fascination with living in a container, eating kale three times a day, and looking forward to spending their Saturday selling carrots at the farmers market.

188 Artists selling their stuff for little money reminds me of a story I read (probably in Wired) about Steve Jobs, and Steve Wozniak. Woz had a design for a disk drive, and Jobs sold the design to a mfg for a grand. He went back to Woz and said, "I only got six hundred for it, and I'll split it with you." And gave him three hundred dollars.

I don't know if that is true, but I never saw it denied, either.

219 About the Texas campus carry law

Remember the kook who slashed about 20 people with a box cutter on a community college campus north of Houston? One asian girl almost bled to death?

There were several vets enrolled who said they would have shot him but they couldn't carry on campus

He was finally tackled by some students while the faculty and rent a cops did nothing

This is why people said "why can't a Vet carry on campus? Or anyone for that matter?"

It's about protecting the students

Because we have a majority of parents who believe they are obligated to provide a college education, regardless of it's worth to their kid. Because only a four year degree in general studies will prepare little Johnny to go to Grad school and spend another three years trying to decide which government regulatory job will fulfill his person.

So parents and kids borrow and spend their retirement so that stupid profs can receive 175K and write op eds that advocate removing more freedoms and protections from Americans.

They also think the cops were too nice to the gangs because they're white. They've already forgotten that the cops opened fire on them and killed at least four.

They also don't know that about a third of the bikers are Hispanic, and at least one I saw was black, so they're still calling in white leaders to deplore this white-on-white violence.

Those folks are neck deep in the stoopid.

223 From the GSA homepage -

Girl Scouts is proud to be the premiere leadership organization for girls in the country. Placement of transgender youth is handled on a case-by-case basis, with the welfare and best interests of the child and the members of the troop/group in question a top priority. That said, if the child is recognized by the family and school/community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, then Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe.

However the idea that ABC thought/thinks George Stephanopolous is worth 105 million dollars is blatant purchase of access to the Democrat party and the Clintons in particular.

It's a 7 year contract so the smarmy little worm gets 15 million a year.

Tell me his skills on TV are worth 15 mil.

Ain't no way. Actors and actresses don't get that much until they've been proven to be worth it somehow.

And that's the key here folks. Obviously ABC is receiving something from having hired this twerp.

You can speculate on what that is. It ain't what he does on tv I'm pretty sure.
