Au contraire. As has been proven on numerous occasions (the past two presidential elections spring immediately to mind), the American public will believe anything it's told. LIV's will notice that a prominent talking head is absent from it's usual duties due to malfeasance. This is the second incident besmirching a newsreader in just a couple of months. I've said it before... the GOP should agree to let the debates be moderated by the MSM on the condition that Rush Limbaugh gets to moderate the Dem primary debates. If that condition is not met (which it obviously wont be) then cut the MSM out of the process completely. I don't get why they're involved at all. Hire someone to keep time, hire a panel of conservatives to crowd source some "broad" questions, then let the candidates go with it. Stream it online. Invite CSPAN for the old folks who don't use the internet. No reason for CNN or MSNBC or Fox News or ABC/CBS/NBC to be involved at all. We're just giving them free ratings and letting them do 90 minutes of opp research and trying to set up soundbites for Democrat attack ads. Posted by: mynewhandle at May 18, 2015 03:41 PM (AkOaV) 216

If the point of the debates is to help me, the R primary voter, decide who I support, then that's what they should be about.
the MSM is not interested in helping me make a decision, theyre interested in destroying the R party. And that's how they approach the debates. They ask spurious, stupid questions designed to hurt the R candidates. Guarantee you someone will ask in this rounds primary debates "how old is the earth"? Or some such nonsense. I don't care about that answer. I suspect 99% of R primary voters don't either. Have *real* questions that will flush out the differences between the candidates without the MSM working overtime to slip 'gotcha!' moments in. In a speech today in South Korea, Secretary of State John Kerry said that the Internet needs rules to be able to flourish and work properly. This, according to Kerry, is necessary even for a technology founded on freedom.
Speaking on behalf of the Obama administration, Kerry said that Internet policy is a key component of our foreign policy. Drudge He is out of his fuckin little stupid horsey mind. And I am sorry that again the public trust in the media is being challenged and frayed"
The public has long ago stopped trusting the media so you don't have anything to lose. Conservatives distrust the media for it's obvious leftist bias and liberals distrust the media because, get this, it isn't liberal enough. That leaves you the moderate LIV's who may or may not trust you depending if they like your clothes, voice, hair etc... Posted by: Ready For Hiillary LIVette at May 18, 2015 03:47 PM (1BQGO) 244

I don't remember that when it happened (I was too young), but Rush was talking about it the other day. Apparently HW was on Larry King and Stephy just "happened to get through" and grilled HW the whole time. According to Rush, Larry King kind of laughed and allowed Stephy to run his show for a few minutes. I'd never heard of it until recently, but I'm not surprised. One of the problems is giving credence to the idea that the term "journalist" means anything.
What does it mean, really, to be a "journalist"? It is not a profession, there is no true required learning, experience, or wisdom. Main stream media uses this idea of "journalist" as some towering, educated, intelligent, ethical, non-partisan, objective person who "just gives you the facts". When in reality, all a "journalist" is is someone who takes information they received and report it to someone else. They are not particularly learned or ethical and certainly are never truly non-partisan and objective. We have allowed the left to create a "profession" of journalism whereby the mushy middle believes journalists are bound by some kind of ethics (they are not) and are unbiased and objective in their reporting (again, they are not). Rather than agree that Stephanapolis is "not" a journalist, we should point out that he is in fact the very epitome of what a journalist truly is - just some person with their own agenda reporting things to others. And we should always take such reporting with a grain of salt knowing the person doing the reporting is biased, has an agenda, probably doesn't understand what they are reporting, etc. If we join in the argument that Stephanapolis is "not a journalist" we are buying into the left's narrative that "journalists" are some noble professionals, when nothing could be farther from the truth. Journalists are by and large advocates for a position. That's it. They report what they want to report, they get quotes from who they want to get quotes from, they color what they report a certain way, they hide facts that don't fit the story they want to tell. Every journalist is an advocate. There is no such thing as being truly objective. Sure, there are things a reporter will cover that they don't feel passionate about, so their reporting won't be quite as biased as other stuff they do, but it will still be biased by their worldview, their preferences, etc. Posted by: Monkeytoe at May 18, 2015 03:49 PM (3ZtZW) 249

Well, here's where liberals and conservatives agree. We hate the media because they're progressive establishment hacks who march in lockstep. Liberals hate them because they're corporate establishment hacks who march in lockstep. Both are fair criticisms, although neither *totally* encapsulates the true incestuous relationship between party establishments, DC power brokers, lobbyists, and the 5 or 6 mega international crony capitalist corporations who own the majority of the media outlets.
