DIA Memos Prove Obama Administration Knew Benghazi Was a Planned Attack on September 16, The Day Susan Rice Was Sent Out To Lie to the Country

Via the Right Scoop, the motive was known:

According to another memo dated September 16, 2012, just FIVE DAYS after the attack on the 'consulate' in Benghazi, the Obama administration via the DNI concluded that the terrorist attack had been planned at least 10 days before the attack occurred and that it wasn’t a coincidence that it happened on the anniversary of 9/11. If you recall, the Obama administration was lying about it, saying it was a demonstration against a film about the Prophet Muhammad that got out of control. They were saying this on the very same day this DNI memo went out to different agencies including the National Security Council and the State Department.

They not only concluded that it was planned ten days in advance, they also wrote why the attack was planned in this same Sept. 16 memo:

The intention was to attack the consulate and kill as many Americans as possible to seek revenge for the U.S. kill of Aboyahiye (Alaliby) in Pakistan and in memorial of the 11 September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center buildings.

Ed Morrissey notes September 16th was the date that Susan Rice was sent out to talk up a "spontaneous attack" inspired by a YouTube video.

Video of Catherine Herridge reporting at both links.

Update: The memo also talks about arms being sent from Benghazi to the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria.

Which John Sexton was writing about a year ago.

Sexton based that article on already-known documents. The MSM just didn't seem to want to connect the dots on already-existing information about Benghazi.

The segment had the SecState (a VERY thinly veiled version of Hillary!) in essentially a re-do of Benghazi (segment being entitled something like "Not Another Benghazi"), and has Hillary hiring mercs to protect the Yemeni Embassy when those mean nasty Republicans won't spend the money to send the troops she so desperately wants. (I'm not making this up.) "It's my job to protect Embassy personnel!" she intones. (I'm not making that up either.)

What Seems Legit has it. No words for the contempt, disgust, and amazement at the behavior of these little, dumb, vile creatures (Obama, Clinton, Biden) at the return of the Benghazi dead remains.

And wrg, see my (sadly, characteristically) long comment willowed in the last thread, WRT gun-running operation out of Benghazi. It doesn't change, reduce, or amplify any of the repugnant and outrageous aspects of Benghazi.

And (guilty of here of running off the road) I do not begin to understand what you could mean by said arms transfers being "illegal". Under US law? Depends on whether there was a congressional finding in place for said covert operation. Internationally? Without going into the complexity about - mostly of the absence of - "international law", which I'm sure you already know, what specific UN Chapter 6 resolutions or bi-or multi-lateral treaties made arms transfers to Syrian rebel group "illegal"?

guns too?

Posted by: wrg500

Yes, that would be an apt question. Many, many lives have been lost (and just not our four people at the consulate) because of this.

It is disturbing that there are at least a few people in DC that do actually know the truth, and that there is little likelihood that we will ever know the truth.

My guess is that whoever got a hold of what we were selling, it is now in the control of the al Nusrah Front or ISIS.

For me, it wasn't just Obama and team were covering shit up, but it was that the Republicans actively avoided wanting to know what was being covered up.

Republicans, from the very beginning, have avoided getting to the bottom of all of the shit that was going on with Obama to specifically avoid finding crimes that they would HAVE to investigate and possibly have grounds for impeachment.

Republicans are terrified of another Bill Clinton situation where the Dem comes out on the other side of the crime more popular than when he was committing the crime.

It's all bullshit.

See my reply in the same thread. Yea, it actually does make a difference to me if the government lied to me and was running guns to militants in Syria all the while denying the very same accusation.

You don't think the American people might have had a slightly different take on the situation a couple weeks before the election if they found out that Obama had been running guns, potentially illegally? Why did he go to such lengths to cover it up? Why all the lies?

I would think it is the key to the entire screwup. They might have acted a lot more expeditiously and not tried to cover up what had been going on if it didn't matter. They wanted us to think it was a random event, it wasn't.

All U.S. manufacturers, exporters, and brokers of defense articles, defense services, or related technical data, as defined on the USML, are required to register with U.S. Department of State. Registration is primarily a means to provide the U.S. Government with necessary information on who is involved in certain manufacturing and exporting activities. Registration does not confer any export rights or privileges, but is a precondition for the issuance of any license or other approval for export. Registration fees start at US$2,250 per year.

Under ITAR, a "US person" who wants to export USML items to a "foreign person" must obtain authorization from the U.S. Department of State before the export can take place.

A "U.S. person" can be
a U.S. citizen;
a permanent resident who does not work for a foreign company, a foreign government, or a foreign governmental agency/organization;
a political asylee;
a part of the U.S. government, or
a corporation, business, organization, or group that is incorporated in the United States under U.S. law.[8]:§ 120.15

A foreign person is any person who is not a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. and includes foreign governments and organizations.[8]:§ 120.16 This means that, for example a foreign person who is visiting the U.S. will remain a foreign person for the purposes of ITAR and any export of USML items to them inside the U.S. must be subject to an export authorization. This is similar to the concept of "Deemed Exports" used by the Bureau of Industry and Security within the Department of Commerce in administration of the Export Administration Regulations although the Department of State does not use the term "Deemed Export"

without that tweet, there is a fairly consistent, easy to understand "cover story' for the admin.

OK, *really* gotta run now, but newhandle brings up another (related) atrocity related to Benghazi. The outrageous, unbelievable "tweet" from Embassy Cairo the night before.

Wherein the US essentially apologized for the constitutional freedoms defining our country (historically, and in principle, anyway). To a riotous mob, assembled and manipulated by the worst bottom-dwelling hate-mongers and enemies of the US and the west. Over a stupid video.

The embassy of the country that helped crush totalitarianism in WWII, stemmed the tide of same in Korea, defied Stalin in Berlin, methodically battled authoritarianism everywhere it could for two generations. Sending a "tweet" (WTFFFFF is the embassy doing communicating about anything important on f***ing Twitter????????) that basically bows before the idiotic rabid Third World cretins assaulting the outer walls.

Of course it got much worse, with the perp-walking of Nakoula.

Those who are younger, or weren't directly involved in things over the years of the Cold War, might not be able to appreciate how literally surreal all of this is. The country simply disappeared overnight, in many respects. It's just gone. I mean its best aspects, the things that distinguished it over time, made it what it has been.

Simply gone. (in answer to ace's occasional despairing question "is this America still?")

192 'They had a mission they believed in. They knew the danger, and they accepted it.

'They didn't simply embrace the American ideal, they lived it; they embodied it. The courage, the hope, and yes, the idealism - that fundamental American belief that we could leave this world a little better than before.

'That's who they were, and that's who we are. If we want to truly honor their memory, that's who we must always be.'

193 OT, but is anyone paying attention to the biker gang massacre in Waco?

Apparently cops knew this was a hot spot and were sitting on the location.

What confuses me is FIVE biker gangs were involved!?! How are five biker gangs converging on this one spot? I mean it's pretty normal for two gangs to be in a turf battle, but this many is very unusual.

Does anyone know the background? Why the convergence? Was the former controlling gang rolled up by LEOs and everyone's trying to move in?

Biker gatherings will often inform the police that they will be having X event at Y place. Keeps the police from getting blindsided by calls from citizens. Kind of a "we're here, dont freak out" outreach effort by the bike gangs. Keeps the cops from overreactin and the bikers from being rousted.

And no, to whomever asked, of course I don't think a covert arms supply op out of Benghazi would have changed anything about the still-surreal response of the press and the electorate to Benghazi and the associated, histrionic and clumsy lying and distortion by the senior officeholders.

229 None of this should shock us. We knew it all along. We just now have the official documentation that our government knew it was terrorism all along.

So know we "officially know". To paraphrase Scankles - "What does it matter"? I say this because what are we going to do with this knowledge?

Are we going to impeach? Will there be a Special Prosecutor named to investigate and prosecute? Or are we going to stand around yelling "SEE!! We told you!!!"

If we are just going to grandstand - why waste the energy. Let the Barky continue doing whatever he wants until the next inauguration day.

If we are going to DO something, then lets do it. I want justice. I have friends that have been handing out "Remember Benghazi" buttons and bumper stickers all over the area. Lets seek justice. Prosecute if warranted. Jail the guilty (or hang).

This lawlessness MUST stop, but it won't if all we do is wave our arms in the air and fingerpoint, make grandiose speeches on the floor of the House/Senate. If that is all that will come of this, count me out. I'll sit back and watch the country burn. I'll help salt the earth and scatter the stones.

Now, the US embassy in Egypt presumably knew there was going to be a "protest" as al-Zawahiri had released a video asking people to retaliate against the US on the anniversary of 9/11 for killing bin Laden.

So this was while Obama and co were saying "bin Laden is dead, GM is alive", so maybe the original plan was to just pretend the "spontaneous protests" in Muslim countries were unrelated to the fatwa from Al Qaeda, and were coincidentally on the first 9/11 after bin Laden was killed about something else... I don't know.

Although we also sent over a lot of AK's and soviet guns IIRC that I guess we just had laying around.

Well for one thing if this is true, and I have long believed it is true, then it explains why Stevens was even in Beghazi in the first place. Everyone else was fleeing from Benghaz but Stevens, not to mention the CIA station that was also attacked, stayed.

It's kind of important to answer the question "Why was Stevens sent to what was widely acknowledged to be a terror stronghold?". And we also don't know exactly what weapons are in Syria. Manpads disappeared from Libya, 10s of thousands of them, and many of them are likely in Syria where we don't seem to be very active in the air. Seems kind of important.

And finally, if it isn't important, why has Obama and his team been lying, stonewalling and doing everything in their power to cover up any evidence it ever happened?

I can multi-task. I can look at more than one issue at a time. And again, it is very important to me to know exactly what the Obama administration was doing in Libya if for no other reason than to demonstrate just how dishonest this administration truly is.

I think the alleged arms transfer speaks to why Stevens was in Benghazi that night, but that wasn't the motive.

Sunni jihadis were totally behind transferring Qadaffis weapons to their brethren in Syria.

The motive was a fatwa by Zawahiri to avenge bin Ladens death on the first anniversary of 9/11 since he assumed room temperature by killing Americans.

newhandle, I'm quite aware of the specifics of (some) of the connections in the region, and no, we didn't create ISIS, directly or indirectly (echoes of the factually baseless "we created the Taliban" stuff), and of course there was lots of materiel in Libya (probably not as much as Iraq, where the Iraqis themselves had no idea how much conventional ordnance and arms were stockpiled all over the place), so "we" didn't have to have "AKs lying around". And of course the CIA was in Benghazi, it's by far the most important place for them to be in Libya (yes, more than Tripoli). Long the center of rebel/jihadi/North African malcontents/Egyptian intrigue. Intel outpost in Benghazi would/should be biggest in the country even if Syria didn't exist at all.

and wrg, come on, there's no plausible case that aid to rebel groups in Syria violates the legal bars on aid to AQ and its allies. If that were a sensible interpretation, AQ could controlour covert operations options at their whim, by simply "tainting" any group we had our own good reasons to support. No Boland amendment here. No legal bar on aid to Syrian rebels, even by outlandish commutative law of AQ affiliates (anybody on same side of war = AQ affiliate = banned group).

In addition, if there was a covert op, it had a finding from the intel committees. Which you apparently didn't know constitutes congressional consent. And if there was NOT a finding, but there was an op, then we're in scandal territory.

JackStraw, nope. Fine, you want to know more, so do I. My point is that none of this about the possible covert operations changes/would have changed any of the political implications (which turned out to be zero). Stevens' presence in Benghazi is hardly bizarre in principle, whatever the full background. What was scandalous and lethally stupid was his presence without an army of security. If you had the full briefing supporting the finding for any covert op that *was* under way, it would not change a thing about the elements of this disaster, which I listed in a comment in the eternal dump thread.

And Ansar probably would have attacked our assets regardless of any covert ops. And the 9/11 timing doesn't require an explanation, does it?

Again, absent lots more info, there is/was nothing scandalous about gun-running to Syria, in itself. The murder of 4 Americans incl. a chief of mission - under absolutely inexcusable conditions - and the indefensible lying about it to the public, are the scandal.

340 JackStraw. And Joe F.

Unfortunately the criticism should have stayed simplified as soon as certain people started making the weapons trafficking charge against those at the CIA annex knowing liberal media psychology -we should have known the media would make excuses for themselves when they did not become outraged at their abandonment. It is the same "legitimate target" evil think that they displayed shortly after 9/11 when discussing the Pentagon attack.

Imagine if the media was similarly engaged in its currently frenzy of "gotcha" "Knowing what we know now..." questions, but instead of being directed at the GOP, it was directed at the Left:

"Senator Clinton, knowing what we know now that the abortion movement in this country was founded by early 20th-century progressives for the specific stated purpose of exterminating black people, swarthy immigrants and the disabled as part of a grand "passive eugenics" genocide against "undesirables," do you still support the mass-murder of millions of innocent minority lives every year?"

It will come as no surprise that I disagree with you on this one. As has been noted, Obama was publicly and vociferously against arming the rebels before this attack. If it turns out he knew it was happening and did nothing to try and stop it I think it would have been a big deal.

And I do believe the only reason Stevens was in Benghazi, the reason the CIA had an active mission there, was to deal in some fashion with these arms shipments. Everyone down to the Red Cross seemed to know this was an area controlled by terrorists but we allowed our ambassador to go there with very little in the way of security when terror attacks had been happening all around the area including on the consulate which had already been attacked once? Sounds almost like he was on a covert mission.

Nope, motive matters. And this one stinks to the core. I do think it is a central issue and not just some throwaway, hardly related issue. Weapons movement to terrorists was likely the central reason Stevens was in Benghazi that night.

375 Obama's new Twitter account is like the "New and Improved Tide" ad campaign that is a classic example of how commercial can backfire.

Tide for years said "Our laundry soap is the best on the market! It's great! Buy it!"

But a few decades back they then came out with a new campaign for "New and Improved Tide" that essentially implied, "That old stuff? Man, was that low-quality compared to our NEW GREAT STUFF!"

The public responded with, "Wait -- you mean you were lying to us before? Fuck you!"

The same holds true for Obama's Twitter accounts.

2009: "Hi! It's me, Barack Obama! This is my own Twitter account!"

2015: "Hi again! Remember that previous Twitter account? Well, that was totally fake! This is the REAL one!"

Public: "Fuck you."

Create ISIS?

I mean... technically, no, we didn't.

But but for our (and our Sunni allies) interference, Assad would have most likely crushed ISIS in its infancy. Especially considering the fact that he was being armed and re inforced by both the Iranians and the Russians.

It was a proxy war -- Sunni v Shia, and we backed the Sunnis (and most likely provided logistical support).

And yes, we do (allegedly) have large caches of Soviet weapons lying around. Plausible deniability about the source, since they're everywhere. US or German weapons are pretty easy to figure out the chain of custody on. Old Soviet weapons? Not so much.

Obama was OK with hundreds of people dying from the use of guns being sold to cartels by ATF.

Every Russian citizen KNEW the media were lying to them. However, with no anchor of truth, they didn't know how adrift from the truth they really were.

No, he was openly giving them "non lethal" aid before Benghazi, and the McCains of the world were openly advocating for arming them to the teeth.

Obama was floating the test balloon for arming them, in other words.

While Saudi Arabia and Qatar and most likely Turkey *were* arming the "rebels" with weapons / money they most likely got from us, directly or indirectly.

In other words, the admin knew what was going on and was supporting it. If they didnt want our gulf / Sunni allies involved in Syria, they could have stopped it. They either turned a blind eye or (more likely) were helping the Sunnis.

Remember, this was all in the context of the "arab spring" bring democracy and socialism and all of that great stuff to the Muslim world.

wrg, nope, you don't disagree with me, you disagree with the facts WRT US law, covert operation findings, and other matters. We agree on the substance and policy questions, I'm sure. There is nothing about even a hypothetical arms transfer op that would be illegal, with a proper intel committee finding.

JackStraw, nope, again, not gonna persist here, but the scandal was the killing of four US personnel incl. a chief of mission under inexcusable security conditions (lack of protection). No killings, we're not even talking about this.

And I know you don't believe that, in the country that elected this guy twice, the "scandalous" discovery of a covert arms op to rebels after the president's repeated public opposition to such a policy would have changed anything. Seriously?

I'm talking hereonly about practial political impact. Not substance of policy (we probably won't disagree much there). But look at what actually happened in the country, in the campaign, in the press, in the intel community, at State. The president strutting around a lumpen rally in Vegas when the bodies were still warm. Nothing about "motive" or backstory would have changed a thing. I want to live in the country you imply - but it sickens me that we don't.

Well we are going to agree to disagree on this one. Many people on the right were very critical of Obama's Libyan strategy and thought exactly what did happen would happen, Libya turned into a failed state and terrorist haven and Libyan weapons flowing to militants around the region.

Obama tried to claim Libya was a foreign policy success much like, ahem, Yemen. Weeks before he re-election bid he was eager to keep up this facade and put the blame for the killings in Benghazi on someone else.

It is important for people to know why Stevens was in Benghazi that night. Why we had such a big CIA presence in that city. Hillary's "what difference at this point does it make" was wrong when she said it and its wrong now. It makes a big difference.

newhandle, no we could not simply stop any Gulf or other aid to Syrian rebels if we wanted to. Very few states (these days, almost none) simply ask how high when we say "jump!". We have divergent approaches, and actual policies to match, with many allied or cooperative countries in various conflict zones. Syria presents a perfect example, where the outside interveners have wildly divergent approaches, contacts, and (to a lesser extent, oddly) goals.

And it does not appear, and there is no way to meaningfully assess, whether any specific outside aid allowed ISIS to grow. A lot more wheels turning than that in Syria in the last 3 years.

Anyway my only point since the first comment in the morning's eternal dump thread was to point out that whatever the substantive importance of the Syrian-rebel-aid-via-Benghazi topic, it would have made no *political* difference in 2012. Yes all historical counter-factuals are dicey, but some are less dicey than others. I cannot begin to see the America or the campaign in 2012 that would have had a different outcome if the "reason" for Stevens' inexcusable insecure visit to Beghazi had been a covert arms operation.

Absolutely justified to savage Hillary with all this, of course. Not that it will probably do much good. But blood on her hands really does exceed low ability, very low character, and lack of talent as a reason she must be stopped.

Reason for large intel op in Benghazi was explained above. Would hold true regardless of any other issue involved here. It's the key place for us to have eyes/ears/recruits.

"What difference was does it make" was a surreal outrage in its own terms. What possible change to this would be made by info about covert ops in Libya? Nothing can illuminate or excuse this still-unbelievable statement by a SecState in Senate testimony.

I don't understand how covert ops changes anything. The scandal was in the killing of four personnel and the outlandish public prevarication about it (and the press/electorate's indifference).

What a GREAT idea!

Baltimore: urban area controlled by dems since the 60s. Black mayor. Unionized police force. Half the cops accused are black, one is a woman. Rioters loot, burn businesses (mostly black owned) and cop cars. Police are injured.
Waco: Texas. nuff said. Police are aware of, and cannot legally stop a meeting of biker gangs. Said gangs commence festivities. Once started, police join in. Thus far, all reports indicate that the bikers kiiled and injured themselves and only themselves. No word yet on whether they traded gunfire with police.

newhandle, I'll bow out here, but you are explaining things to someone with many years direct experience in these specific topics, so even though I'm sure you don't mean to be, it's coming across as annoying and condescending. I'm more than very, verywell versed in things Gulf, intel, and Saudi-US.

And jeebus, strawman the size of Godzilla, nobody was talking about the US "dumping" the Saudis, nor would be consider it, over one more of the sort of divergent approaches we've had on key issues over many years. I was just knocking down your untrue claim that the Saudis would simply comply with any US request WRT Syrian rebel policy. They wouldn't, shouldn't, and it would not rise to the level of major crisis (unlike our insane surrender to Tehran).

wrg, so you're agreeing that there was nothing illegal (via the "liaison" exception to findings). Plausible. But not illegal. And - if the intel committees cared/opposed it, they could do something about it.

Again, not a matter of substance or policy. Not sure what I think of it, and in any case don't have the details to make an intelligent judgement. But you kept leading with "illegal" and that was obviously incorrect, and certainly raised questions about your seriousness.

Of course the killings of our four personnel is an outrage. Nobody is arguing that. But your insistence that the reason, a reason the Obama administration has stonewalled and lied about since the moment it happened, isn't important is wrong in my eyes. Were it not, Obama and his team would not have done everything in their power to hide including sending an innocent man to jail.

It's important to put things in the context of when they happened. Again, this was weeks before his re-election at a time he was running on among other things his success in Libya and his strategy such as it were in the larger ME. Of course we all knew it was a lie but most of the country didn't and still doesn't thanks to the msm.

If we are ever going to really start turning things around we need to be able to point to concrete examples of how Obama has lied and used the msm to carry his water. People need to see this stuff if for no other reason than to begin to understand what some of us have known for years.

Obama is a dishonest prick and his lies have put this country in great peril. I'm willing to be that the reason Stevens was in Benghazi was to deal with arms shipment issues and the reason his security was so light was because this was a mission Obama was eager to hide from the American people. About time this kind of shit was brought to light and it takes nothing away from the outrage over the people sacrificed to Obama's insane policies.

488 I don't care if the LIV don't give a crap about this - the President of the U.S.and his minions (including Shrillary) lied about the death of Americans in order to save face and pretend their stupid foreign policy strategy was working.Even if it doesn't sway a single voter,I'm glad Gowdy and others are staying on this.

Posted by: 1bulwetweft at May 18, 2015 03:05 PM (nqiq9)

490 Obama voters are either stupid or corrupt.
The "truth" about Benghazi matters not one wit as the former don't care and the latter have been celebrating since November 2012 that Obama was able to cover it up until after the election so that's it's "dude that happened 2 years ago" now.

Posted by: Dancing Queen at May 18, 2015 03:05 PM (r1DzX)

491 I cant even follow this story anymore, as like most sane people I knew on Sept 12 that the entire Obama regime spin was a morally corrupt and managerially incompetent Shit Show from top to bottom.

Additional reinforcement to that effect doesn't even register with me these days, especially since nothing of consequence will ever happen to Clinton or Obama or Rice etc because of it. Nothing. By 2016, even mentioning Benghazi will get the MSM to yelling in unison, "swiftboating, swiftboating."

492 Something about Hillary running for president, maybe?
Posted by: flounder at May 18, 2015 02:56 PM (ecDRv)

Well, maybe, I guess. But why is any of this more damning than her saying, "What difference, at this point, does it make?" I fail to see what value a new report confirming what we already know to be true - that politicians in general and Democrats in particular are liars and only self-interested - brings, given that the media has already buried this story. They are not going to dig it up again for the LIV's to re-consider, and we already know all of this.

JackStraw, it makes no sense to argue that low-profile security (obviously completely inappropriate in Benghazi) was to hide things from *Americans* at home. An ambassador's movements and security do not make the papers, even if "the papers" were real news any more. It would be - was - obviously insane and contrary to all standard practice for years in comparable situations (I spent several years in a worse one) to go "lo-pro" witha chief of mission.

An appropriate security detail would not have alerted anyone to anything, much less a putative covert op. Anyway, that's a side-point, but you sort of inverted logic there.

As to your wider point about the press - basically about accountability - of course I couldn't agree more.

But I don't see the slightest chance of any of that happening. That is, the press becoming what it should be, or - critical - the electorate that might care changing. Trying to imagine an "educated", coastal, urban Obama voter (or other tribal Dem) voting differently, or even caring. Can't do it (like all of us limited to my sample population .... but wow .... not a flicker of citizenship or seriousness to be found in a single person I know).

What might be the special case of Hillary, as the worst major party candidate ever, in terms of scandalous history, probably makes this stuff worth doing now. In that sense covert Syria ops might be helpful. Might be the 10,000-lb safe that (finally) breaks the camel's back. Might.

495 Damn! You guy are too fast for me. But you got one thing wrong--Ben Ghazi was the ACTOR in the widely viewed video about Mo (pieces be upon him). Just a coinkydink that our gubmint was selling Libyan weapons to Syrian insurgents thru Turkey.
Got that straight? Now I can go back to not answering questions from my friends in the press corpse.

Then we might as well give up. The fact that four Americans were killed in Benghazi has been know since the day after the attack. The only thing that has ever been in doubt was why, why was he there and why was he killed.

If you think those things are tangential or will never get through then we might as well all pack up and call it a day. I remain hopeful that if we can force the truth to the surface it will be very destructive to the left. Obama may skate, he always does, but Hillary is no Obama when it comes to politics and the more we can put her on the defensive the better. She and members of her team still have to come before Congress to testify.

She lied. Everyone on Team Obama lied. And those lies contributed to the death of 4 Americans, help propagate weapons to terrorists and further eroded our position in the world. I believe in America this is still an important thing to bring to light.

I know this thread is dead, but I just saw this -- I don't know why you think I'm being condescending, I don't even think we're arguing on anything. I'm just pointing out what was being reported at the time -- that the US and our gulf allies were helping the rebels to get rid of Assad during the "arab spring".

My only point was that the Saudis were not going behind our back. They were vetting (and arming) the groups that we were providing "non lethal aid" to. We were working WITH them on this.

499 Madeleine Albright gave this commencement speech at Tufts University

We see it in the widening gap between rich and poor, and the growing dangers to the environmental health of our planet.

We see how technology has given new destructive tools to groups who use religion as a license to murder, as if God's commandment were "thou shalt kill."

And we see how many of the assumptions of my generation, and your parents' generation, about the 21st century have been proven wrong.

To put it another way: the world's a mess. That is a diplomatic term of art.

I am sorry, but it is true.

... Albright is obviously a racist

502 As a former "I know everything to know about Benghazi because i read it in the British Press within 48 hours" savant...this is about freaking time. Everyone ate their words, lapped them up. With no thought process of, uh, it was NINE ELEVEN anniversary and, uh, you don't have shoulder fired missiles at spontaneous events, even in Libya.

This lying of the WH totally and completely fitted all the puzzles into place of my distrust of anything and every single word from this administration.

I am having what I call a "Pit Bull Monday" in the event anyone cares. My son's sweet doggie is all that lies between me and rage overflowing (i speak softly like a child is in the room vs Duchess of Alba Cray-Cray that has been me for several months of real estate transactions and a cross-country move). xoxo and pfft

503 Oh, yeah, and that CIA guy? Moron? Moran? interviewed by Brett Baier the other day..the guy who wrote a book...well, when asked about gun running operations by CIA in Libya he paused and pointedly said (from my demented memory these days) some dodge game of "it could have been done but we were not doing it" yada. In other words, they knew about it but did not touch the goods?

I have not paid a lot of attention for months on anything but my own personal crazy and craving for normal, but even I caught that wordsmithing.

Posted by: ChristyBlinky, Redneck Queen at May 18, 2015 05:05 PM (FCPu0)
