Not sure about McInnes, but Holder is some broad who used to f--k Jesse Jackson and for some reason is Hannity's favorite shrill radical feminist.

He ruins Red Eye every time he's on, to me. I know he has his fans, but I don't get it.

His two modes of "comedy," "Strange Scottish Guy" and "Look, Now I'm Not a Strange Scottish Guy", both leave me cold.

Tamara Holder is just a Lib pig.

37 >>The big picture here is women do earn less in America because they choose to.

If she had qualified her statement by saying 'many' women or even 'most' I would have been with her. My cousin dropped a decent paying job to stay home with kids and I think a lot of people who work would rather not. I think staying home with toddlers and maybe going to work when they are in school all day is probably a good in between.

This is why we shouldn't be looking at 'disparate impact' without looking at choices made, just in general. Some people work hard all week/weekend and enjoy it. Some people would rather be home. Some people don't have any choice. People are DIFFERENT. We need to recognize that.

59 Ran across this while looking something up, from the comments over at imdb:

Crowds can be difficult to manage simply because of the effort needed to maintain their concentration. During the filming of Grand Prix (1966) there was a scene where a flaming car is driven into the pits. It was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon and the director, John Frankenheimer, was disgusted by the crowd's lack of reaction to the dramatic action during the rehearsals. They appeared to be more interested in their tea break. Frankenheimer called his special effects man over and told him to 'blow up the tea van' when given the signal. The unit went for a take. The flaming sports car came into the pits. The crowd looked on. The signal was given and the tea truck exploded. The crowd reacted and Frankenheimer got his shot' This is an extreme example of how to direct crowds. (from "Production Management for Film and Video" by Richard Gates)

61 She has nothing to say once he destroyed her go-to "you have offended meeeee!!!"

You take the fuckers full-on and they have nothing.
Because they "win" all their arguments by emotions.
And once you say, "Fuck your emotions--this is the truth," they're left sputtering.
They are so used to everyone they meet conceding the basis of their argument that when you refuse to start the debate on their terms, they have nothing to respond with.

Which is true, but I'd also point out that you don't have to hold a man's job open for him for six months while he's off pursuing a personal project. And now people think they should be paid for not working? Fuck that.

Some women have always wanted to do different things, and some just want to stay at home and keep house. Both of those things should be ok!!! That is what feminism should have been. women will end up getting married and having kids and their careers will

go on the back burner.

Are they going to marry each other? Their male peers aren't interested.

My mom was married to my dad (who passed some years ago) and she wasn't a domestic type either. She was a professional woman. But then again she had domestic help.

My dad and the kids didn't mind either. We kids got cool stuff. My sister even got to visit the Sesame Street set.

But no matter how tired she was when she got back home, she always made sure she checked the homework I left on her bed in time for me to take it to school the next morning. (Yes, I realize I was kind of a perfectionist.)

In my social class in Nigeria, very few of my friends had 100% stay at home moms, and we mostly turned out OK. But then domestic help is a lot cheaper there.

Posted by: Insomniac at May 15, 2015 11:43 AM (2Ojst)

Just moved to a new state. Old state did not have common law marriages.

My (female) boss pointed that out to me when she was breaking up with her boyfriend-of-10-years who she owned a house with. She was like "thank god!" (she made more money than the boyfriend, heh.)

Within 2 weeks of breaking up with him, she started dating HER boss though, who definitely makes a lot more money then she does. So I think her feelings on marriage might change soon.

Posted by: mynewhandle at May 15, 2015 11:49 AM (AkOaV)

291 What are the benefits of marriage?

If you're blessed you get a supportive, loving friend and sex partner who puts up with your moods, makes you laugh, enjoys some of the same things you do, (if you have kids- helps you deal with hormonal teens when you feel like stuffing them in the closet permanently) and if you're a person of faith prays with and for you. I like to know there's someone who will soon be home when I am. That's just some of the reasons.

I hate these threads that turn into "Let's bash marriage and women." Sorry you've had problems. You guys need to form a support group or something.

My girlfriend likes cooking, I don't mind cleaning, we split the "domestic" stuff pretty damn close to 50/50, plus I do all the "man stuff" like mowing the lawn, taking out the trash, snow blowing the driveway, fixing stuff, etc. and we both work full time and have successful careers.

And I grill pretty regularly and cook from time to time. So I mean, I think it works out pretty fairly.

309 I am happily single, not in a hurry to tie the knot despite the loud ticking of my biological clock (plus, I have no man friend). But I think a good marriage is a beautiful thing. A man and woman coming together to be loving partners in life, supporting one another through thick and thin, and bringing children into this world in a stable environment.

As a single woman raising a teenage boy (my nephew), I can appreciate what it must be like to have a partner in child rearing. It's quite hard doing it alone (even with a good kid such as mine). I would never intentionally become a single mother.

I know a number of happily married couples. Heck, my parents bickered frequently, but their love for each other was very deep, which was very evident in my dad's last years when he was sick.

If you're blessed you get a supportive, loving friend and sex
partner who puts up with your moods, makes you laugh, enjoys some of the
same things you do, (if you have kids- helps you deal with hormonal
teens when you feel like stuffing them in the closet permanently) and if
you're a person of faith prays with and for you. I like to know there's
someone who will soon be home when I am. That's just some of the
reasons.

I've been living with my girlfriend for 5 years. We co-mingle our finances (not all of them), make decisions as a couple, etc etc etc, but if she runs off with the mailman, she doesn't get half my shit.

I say that's a win/win.

326 Let me put it this way: there is no benefit to marriage (as in, getting the marriage "license" from the state) for men. Maybe a small tax incentive if your incomes work out (mine and my girlfriends incomes combined would put us in a higher tax bracket, and it would be a detriment to get married).

I've had too many friends lose everything they've worked for when their wives walked out on them --for any reason-- to ever really WANT to get married. It makes no sense. You get absolutely fucked if she wants to leave you for any reason.

She meets a new guy? He gets to move in to your bed, while you pay the mortgage. He gets to drive your car. He gets to eat your food that you pay for.

Because she gets half + of everything you have, and you get shit.

So... why get married? Just gives the court an excuse to say, "oh, oh, well fuck you very much."

I do think a society where most people are married is a good thing, but guess what? Some people (like us) aren't married and (who knows?) may never get married and still manage to enjoy life. Weird.

And there is still a stigma against unmarried women that unmarried men don't have to deal with. E.g., no one is sorry or has contempt for the unmarried 30-something man, but that unmarried 30-something woman on the other hand!

Then again, I don't really care about such things and I enjoy life regardless of people's silly prejudices. Whatever.

I never like when I hear people say marriage is something you have to work at. If it takes that much work, maybe you're better off without it. I've been married close to 10 years and there's no work involved. Our relationship is pretty much the same today as it was the day we got married. The key to it is we both realized early on the other person isn't perfect and that's just how it is.

Maybe I'm lucky in this aspect? I dunno.

347 I do think that what makes things harder nowadays is easy divorce. Because women often earn more they sometimes feel they can just go without too many problems. I know a family where two of the three children are divorced and that's very sad. Divorce stinks for kids unless their parent was just really verbally and physically abusive, and I've never known a kid who wasn't resentful because dad or mom had an affair and left their husband/wife for someone else. As far as the asset thing I know someone who is paying her husband child support because he wasn't able to keep a job for very long, so giving up assets hits both ways.

And I agree with your last paragraph, Royal Oil.

Very nice, FS. That's what I thought it was about, too, as that what's my parents' marriage looked like to me. But sometimes things don't work out, a combination of bad luck or bad decisions or whatever, and the law imposes very harsh penalties for trying to fix something that's broken, and the penalty actually gets worse the longer and harder you work to try to fix a troubled marriage. That is a major, major, disincentive. Looking at it from where I stand, it's a bum deal for men in today's world.

A couple I know was able to get a house really cheap because the former residents had gotten divorced and the woman was living in the house with her new boyfriend, and I think some of his kids, with the ex-husband paying the mortgage! INSANE. So the ex was trying to offload the house as quickly as possible.

There is no need for things to be so stacked against men, and honestly, when there's no more stigma attached to premarital sex or cohabitation, I can understand why men are opting out of marriage. (But don't worry, the feminists will soon ruin that for you too, bwahahaha.)

However, I don't believe in premarital sex, so if I ever date again, marriage will have to quickly come into the picture if we're going to be long-term (aka lifelong).

370 As far as the asset thing I know someone who is paying her husband child support because he wasn't able to keep a job for very long, so giving up assets hits both ways

Over 90% of alimony/spousal support is paid by men. 85% give or take of child support is paid by men. So while it can go both ways occasionally, the overwhelming majority of these payments are made by men to women.

372 355 I just heard King of the Douchebags O'bumbles on the radio refer to Nepal as "naypol"

I kind of wondered why he chooses to pronounce words differently than what is normal.

I think it's because he believes he is smarter than everyone else, and it is his way of showing it.

Kind of like a cat marking his territory, except he feels the need to piss on EVERYTHING.

374 >>I guess some people have trouble discerning jokes (this is aoshq after all) from actual statements.

Let me say first that I'm not directing this at you mynewhandle.

But sometimes there is a vibe to the comments that does not scream 'joke'. Sometimes it is bitterness at things that went wrong in someone's life with their significant other that makes them angry at the entire female population.

And sometimes it is the sheer wtfery juxtaposition of the idea that men shouldn't get married and that women who aren't married are deficient. These things are related. These things are a consequence of decisions made before your generation or mine were born.

Exactly! I have several friends who have been in that position. It's horrible, I feel so bad for the guys. One of my co-workers went through this recently. His wife left him for another guy, and before he knew it the other guy was living in his house, raising his kids, (he gets them on weekends or whatever), driving his car, banging his wife, I mean.. within weeks of her saying (out of the blue) "I want a divorce, move out."

Before the paperwork was even done, the new guy was moving in. Now that the divorce his final, after he paid for both his and his ex's lawyers, he did get some more out of the deal -- for example, he got his motorcycle back. But I mean...

Fuck that.

Sorry, there are definite benefits to men and women that marriage offers. Granted, it isn't exclusive to marriage; you can (at greater cost in terms of time and money) obtain legal paperwork that appoints your girlfriend* as the one to make your final decisions and all that.

But, beyond that, marriage isn't about benefitting individual adults (though it does). The point of marriage is to benefit society and protect children. I don't know if you personally have any risk of fathering children out of wedlock, but if you do have a kid with your gf, the kid is much better off if you're married. We 're all better off if your kid (and everyone else's kids) are better off. The attitude that men should avoid marriage is actively harmful to children. The promotion of sex in a relationship where the couple isn't committed for life, with skin in the game, leads to coarsening of society and loosening of sexual mores.

420 I've played this clip at least five times, and I'm laughing harder each time. Gavin MacInnes is smart and funny, and he knows how to use both of those qualities to his advantage. The average liberal has no sense of humor, and here he just keeps needling Tamara Holder until she squeals, and she's just not smart enough to hear how ridiculous she sounds.

By the way, I didn't really know who Tamara Holder was, so I typed her name into Bing, and Jesse Jackson's picture came up. I kid you not . . .
