Wayne Allen Root: I Was Politically Targeted for an IRS Audit and I Can Prove It

The Obama critic has posted his account at Fox News.

Root was audited in 2011. He got a call from the IRS, in which the agent told him about his (Root's) political views -- something that's not supposed to happen, obviously.

He spent thousands of dollars on his defense and prevailed in Tax Court in 2012 -- at which time he was informed he was being audited again, something his tax lawyer said he'd never heard of before.

Then he began FOIA'ing the IRS to find out what was going on.

By law, the IRS has 30 days to comply. They stalled and refused for 14 months. The question is why would a government agency disobey the law for 13 months?

Now come the political and criminal revelations. The IRS is supposed to be totally nonpolitical, as it must be in a free and fair democratic society. Do you know what my IRS tax file says?

"SENSITIVE CASE."

Do you know the date "SENSITIVE CASE" was written on my tax file? The week Lois Lerner testified in Congress.

The only thing "SENSITIVE" about my case is that I'm a conservative political columnist and commentator often critical of the president. The only context where “sensitive” applies to me is “POLITICALLY SENSITIVE."

Why would a citizen’s tax file be tied to his politics? Why would the IRS know my politics? Why would a normal random audit be classified as "SENSITIVE?"

...

The reason it may have taken the IRS fourteen months to turn my IRS files over to Judicial Watch is that they state a United States senator from Oregon was involved. At the time both senators from Oregon were Democrats. But only one, Ron Wyden, was chairman of the Senate Finance Committee with oversight over...the IRS. Could Ron Wyden have been the Democrat senator involved in my case?

If so, why was a U.S. senator involved in a "normal random audit?" Why was an Oregon Senator involved in the audit of a Nevada small businessman? Since when do United States Senators get involved in IRS audits?

...

But wait, we’re not done. On May 23, 2013, my case was officially closed. Recognize that date? It's the exact day that IRS official Lois Lerner was suspended and the day after she testified in front of Congress (and refused to answer questions on the grounds it might incriminate her). Coincidence?

Why was my case closed? The IRS auditor handling my case informed my tax attorney that he had just been called by a top IRS official demanding the case be closed immediately. Why would a top IRS official get involved in my case? Who asked him to make that call? Did he know the politically damaging details of this audit marked “SENSITIVE CASE"? Why did it happen the very day after Lois Lerner's testimony?

There is no debate. I am living proof that there was a widespread political witch hunt and criminal conspiracy within the IRS. It is also proof that this scandal extended beyond the IRS to high-level Democrats -- including a specific Democratic U.S. Senator. It's all in black and white in my personal IRS tax files. These are facts.

People need to go to jail.

28 Everything in our society, government, judicial, etc. can only work IF the individuals follow the rules, the law, etc.
IF a government agency doesn't follow the law, and the agency overseeing it doesn't then follow the subsequent law, and the judicial branch doesn't follow the law, and the enforcement branch doesn't follow the law, we have a lawless society, with each person on their own to defend themselves and at the mercy of those who have more power than they.

We find ourselves in pretty much of a fragile, lawless society right now. It's being held together somewhat by the good will of the majority of people , willing to put up with the obscene lawlessness of a minority in order to not have a full scale insurrection occur.

The lawlessness was out of sight for a while, but came above ground with not just the election of Barack Obama, but especially when Eric Holder began instructing state AD's etc. that they did not need to enforce laws they did not agree with. When he refused to enforce federal laws he didn't agree with, such as federal immigration, marijuana laws, and the defense of marriage act.

Regular, every day conservatives who politically disagree with the party in power were audited, had their lives put on hold, are out thousands of dollars... all because of who they voted for. That really changes the way conservatives look at the fed government and the bureaucracies and puts a major chill on free speech."

Individually, I am not calling people weaklings. But as a movement, a political force, we are weak. We are getting weaker. Our supposedly natural allies in what is called the Republican Party will betray us. They're in on the fix, too. We have no political power to speak of.

The next two years of not having an opposition party to keep TFG in check will devolve, especially if the harassment continues. There is already open warfare, fortunately in Democrat cities but it will spread outward until martial law is declared.

Then it gets ugly.

Well...

No, because it's not "the government" they distrust, it's evil racist bigoted 1%er republican politicians AND voters.

And they're FINE with Obama and the IRS going after conservatives. Because fuck those backwards hicks.

And the bureaucracies (a product of progressives who got rid of the system wherein all fed employees served at the pleasure of the president) are on auto pilot, no matter who is president, and are progressing towards the glorious socialist revolution no matter who is in control.

So in other words, even if Bush had Darth Cheney call over to the IRS and say, "Hey, Lois, do some investigating in to these 'progressive' groups, will ya?" it never would have happened. The IRS would have refused and the Dems would have tried to impeach. Thats what Nixon ran in to.

With Obama -- he doesn't even need to say anything. They know what to do without him getting directly involved. And they will continue to do that no matter who is president, R or D.

While I'm sure the NSA is vacuuming up all of our content, I doubt anyone is watching (for example) aoshq very closely.

I mean, its easy to get the information, but sorting through it and analyzing it takes a lot of man hours.

So I'm less worried about that then, say, a "rogue" IRS agent / twitter activist who just happens to see my name.

Which is where I think most of these audits probably come from. Political activists who happen to work for the bureaucracy who get peoples information from publicly available sources.

This is but one example of how the IRS is being used as a political tool. We cannot allow a government agency the ability to do a warrantless search of our financial records, nor can we allow a government agency to lock down our financial accounts without a warrant, but that is exactly what is going on at this moment.

Any solution to this problem will have to include discontinuing an income tax, where the government has an interest in seeing your income and expenses. A consumption tax is the only answer I can see, whereby everyone's personal financial data is excluded from government oversight.

But, any large scale protest like that from the right would not meet with the same respect that left-wing marches get. We have a permanent political class in Washington vested in themselves. They simply use the voters to get elected, create divisions to keep the music playing and ultimately (one way or another) get people to dance.

Neither party really gives a fig about this because they are all mostly corrupt in their own way. They don't address injustice, otherwise it would be turned back on them in some manner.

There is nothing more despicable then lending your government to a bunch of people who then turn and use it against you.

But a speech with facts and figures, a la Khruschev's famous de-Stalinization speech in 1956, would go some ways toward addressing the problem.

No.

There are a few hundred scattered KKK members belonging to different groups across the country. Big presence in PA and FL. And by big I mean a few dozen people.

All socialists / democrats, by the way.

I mean the problem the KKK had was that they were originally charted to keep white carpet baggers out of dixie, to make sure the blacks didnt get uppity and try to vote republican, and to keep the democrat party machine in power.

So, uh... Democrat party no longer wants them. They hate Republicans (who also don't want them anyways)... so they're kind of floating out there in no mans land.

And no, I havent heard of anyone claiming to be KKK and committing "hate crimes" in recent decades.

I was working my first job after the Army, and making maybe 35,000. Had to cash out my only retirement account to pay them, which of course tax-fucked me the next year too.

I will go to my grave not knowing if some IRS asshole had an axe to grind because the NSA has me on a list for what I post at the HQ or Sipsey Street Irregulars or other firearms forums and Facebook pages.

The only good thing about the last few years is the masks are off and we KNOW parts of our own government are at war with us.

Story time! I was armed security at Ft Lewis (contractor). One day our firearms safety instructor was in a classroom doing a demonstration. He handed his loaded weapon to his assistant in exchange for an unloaded one. Only the assistant handed him back the loaded weapon. The instructor, now handling a loaded weapon, thinking it's unloaded, then pulled the trigger. He put a round into a wall near a student's head. 470 "People need to go to jail."

I'm so tired of comments like this. Obviously, nobody is going to jail. Comments like this betray a totally unwarranted hope in the system. On top of that, a lot of republican voters that say stuff like this never vote in primaries for the guys that want to abolish the IRS like Steve Forbes and Ron Paul. You turned out in droves to give McConnell and Boehner more power. You're all idiots that vote for socialists called republicans that insult you to your face. You were warned. It's too late. The IRS decides elections now, which mean jack shit anyway, because you supported collaborators.

Posted by: Harvey at May 05, 2015 06:21 PM (5yNiz)

471 It is outrageous to think that a government agency could be used to oppress members of an opposition party. That being said, it is also an outrageous fantasy to think that anything will be done about it. Why? Because if anyone were able to get in there and do some serious digging it would probably be evident that there Republicans involved in this scandal as well. Both parties LIKE this because they know that at some point they will be able to use it against there "enemies," too.

The machinery is in place, and this corruption will continue regardless of the party in control of the executive branch. If the grassroots on the right or left should rear their ugly heads, both parties will use the full force of the government to squash their influence AND reach. We, the people, right and left, have no representatives in our government. There is only the establishment, right and left.
