Apparently Pamela Gellar is a pungent provocateur, so it's okay to kill her.
See, she was mocking a religion, and therefore, members of that religion can be excused for trying to murder those who mock their god. So, I guess my question is:

So: Should angry Christians start polishing their rifles? Either we are all allowed to provoke or we are all not so permitted. Either we all have the right to use violence to defend affronts to our god -- even the strange, alien, backwards god of Christianity -- or none of us do. The left continues to insist that people are allowed to "punch up" -- or shoot guns "up" -- but not down. Thus pushing the idea that Christians and other allegedly dominant groups are officially second-class citizens, with fewer rights than others (gays, Muslims, especially).

Watched Geller this morning duke it out with Alyson Camerota on CNN. Alyson kept getting more and more frustrated at Geller's clear explanations that this event and the subsequent attempt to kill everyone attending by the jihadis is exactly why these events should be held.
Geller made a comment about the media aiding the censorship(my interpretation, not the words used by Geller) and Camerota went nuts. Got really pissed, how dare Geller blame the media for the shootings....Geller again tried to patiently explain that only the shooters are responsible for the shooting, but that the media is helping to curtail the first amendment as demonstrated by Camerota's constant howling about how Geller is inciting, and her insulting events are insulting the millions of peaceful muslims.
She actually started to repeat the TFG meme that islamic extremists have nothing to do with islam.

So I was reading up on the BLM show down in Oregon over a gold mine (not exciting; usual story of government being scheming dicks) and stumbled upon the splc webpage.
They throw that phrase "hate group" around so much it's hard to follow their stories. I guess according to them, everyone who is not politically 100% on the same page as them is a hate group.
For example, I learned that the militias and the oath keepers were anti government, anti tax, anti minority hate groups who call themselves "patriots" while trying to abolish the federal government.

Okay, Garland isn't Mesquite, but it's not the safest place to hang out, either.
That said... one of the Morons previously pointed out- a lot of TX gun owners are very, very good about putting in their range time. This includes cops. And campus resource officers (school cops) are full members of the police force and have to do all the same periodic qualifications that other cops do. Usually you only get resource duty for a year or two before they cycle you out to something else.

As for the officer who was shot, he was a school resource officer working for Garland ISD and wasn't armed. I imagine he was just directing traffic or something like that, but I know our resource officers *were* armed, so perhaps that's something Garland needs to look into in the future.

I feel like loud alarm noises would be a pretty good deterrent even without police automatically responding.
Or is it one of those situations where you dont really own the equipment, and if you cancel the monthly service they come and take it back?

I think ADT owns the gear? There are monitored and unmonitored alarm and security cam packages available from Internet service providers and cellular companies like Verizon. You can buy Internet-enabled security cam systems for a few hundred bucks. Some of these include a phone dialer that will dial a sequence of numbers, say your cell, friend or neighbor, etc. I believe that automated equipment dialing 911 is illegal, though. But if your house is being burglarized, and your system calls you, and you see it with your own eyes via the video feed, then you can call the cops. Better have the non-911 emergency number for your local cops on speed-dial.

In all seriousness, here's their thinking on the matter.
Karl Marx said there's a basic progression of societies from disorganized to some sort of agricultural serfdom to an industrial "capitalist" system to a socialist system then the eventual evolution leads to a communist system where we all work for each others benefit.
So in the early 1900s all of the communists expected an industrial country to undergo their "revolution" on the path toward communist.
But none did. A backwards agricultural society (Russia) did. But it skipped the whole capitalism step. So they were leary of it.
And after WWI they were CONVINCED industrial nations would become socialists. They didn't. So they said "shit, maybe these put upon workers have it too good to fight the system and over throw the corrupt capitalists running these countries" so they started their whole "cultural marxism" bit which was designed to have the 'put upon' people in society lead the revolution.
And that's why it seems like liberals are trying to destroy western civ.
They're not. Not really. They're just trying to get the disenfranchised among us to overthrow capitalism and usher in a communist utopia.
In other words, they don't care about gays getting married in the specifics. They just want to break up the traditional institutions that have stood in the way of "progress" -- the church, the family, the local community.
If that could be better accomplished by hating on the gheys, they would do that too. It's all a game to them.
