Obama Press Conference: "We As a Country Need to do Some Soul-Searching;" Some Police "Aren't Doing The Right Thing"

On now, essentially validating the rioters.

Another point: As usual, Obama acts as if he is simply a commentator or blogger. He speaks about the riots as if his role is entirely one of analysis or to provide inspiration.

I didn't hear him say anything about taking action to actually stop the rioters.

He does say that those stealing aren't "making a statement," but are merely stealing.

Oh God -- he's claiming that the media (and society) are to blame, because "one burning building" is put on a "loop" on news shows, whereas the people "doing the right thing" weren't shown on TV.

Yes, Obama, the media should focus on the people doing the normal things they're supposed to do.

Update: It's all Republicans' fault, says Obama.

As JWF's article notes, what's foremost on Obama's mind is "restraint" by police, because so far, that Space to Destroy policy is working great.

I still think the jury is out as to whether the police did anything wrong. They took down a guy, without excessive force, who then complained of pain. Gray had/has lead poisoning as a child which causes osteoporosis which means his bones are brittle and will fracture.

People, especially many Whites, want to demonize the participants of the Baltimore uprisings because they need to negate the black experience - especially with the police, but also with society in general - that functioned as the catalyst of these events.

A colleague of mine who is a WoC put it very succinctly and poetically: Whites are often blinded by their whiteness as if it was driven snow strongly reflecting the sunlight. And so we wear sunglasses, that warp our vision of blackness.

The problem is not a lack of police. The problem is too much policing.

When six police have time to arrest one perp with a knife ... we have too many. Conversely ... when we have enough police to protect looters from vigilantism ... we have too many.

And so ... You get Baltimore, and Ferguson, and more to come. Too many cops too concerned with protecting rioters from John Q Property Owner.

We have a Police State ... and the Police are not on our side. Not when the chips are down. Knowing that ... I want LESS Police. Not more.

But Chicago and DC have the demographics, the "income gap" and are both well connected to the current regime.

I watched the helicopter feed. The cops just stood there. For hours. Letting CVS get looted. They didnt move in until the CVS was fully engulfed in flames. Even then, they didnt break up the looters, just made a line around the fire trucks.

I'm sure the cops themselves would have much preferred to arrest everyone and go home instead of standing there getting rocks thrown at them and watching people loot a store.

Its been tried in the past and ends horribly; they all do the same thing. You step back and let them tire out, then move in and begin to clear things up, set a curfew, patrol the streets, arrest people, etc.

There's no other realistic way to handle it this side of a massive Russian-style gas bomb crackdown that ends with thousands dead. Riots basically remind the people in power that they're really outnumbered.

President Obama could have done so much to improve race relations even
further during his time in office. But he is doing what he can to make
things a lot worse, while being able to maintain plausible deniability
for the easily deceived.

Despicable.

He could yell at the protesters and tell them to stop, what the hell
is wrong with you, are you animals? But no, it's the police's fault.
Never mind that the police are supposed to protect the actual black
innocents who are having their property destroyed and their lives
endangered.

302 People, especially many Whites, want to demonize the participants of the Baltimore uprisings because they need to negate the black experience - especially with the police, but also with society in general - that functioned as the catalyst of these events.
____________________________

What bullshit. Blacks get killed by incompetent, poorly-trained police. So do whites -- at twice the rate of blacks. You don't see white communities rioting and burning down cities and looting and stealing. You don't even see any media coverage when a white person is killed or maimed by cops. It's not an "outrage" unless it happens to a black person.

And as far as the shitty economy, that is also largely the fault of blacks themselves. They are the ones who voted Barack Obama into the presidency. Barack Obama, who threw open our borders and unilaterally legalized millions of low-skill illegal aliens. Barack Obama, who appointed an Attorney General who testified that illegal aliens have a "right" to U.S. jobs. Barack Obama, who is a wholly-owned subsidiary of companies like Apple, Google, GE, banks, etc., -- all of whom have outsourced millions of American jobs to cheaper overseas markets. It is also Barack Obama and his like-minded idiots in the Democratic party who have done everything in their power (and much beyond their power) to stifle U.S. domestic energy production (which creates jobs).

So don't whine to me about the "black experience." What blacks are experiencing are the results they asked for, voted for, and continue to vote for. If they don't like what is happening to them, then they need to get up off their asses and work to change things -- not loot and riot and steal. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior, and Americans -- of every color and ethnicity -- are fed up with blacks' whiny self-pity and feral criminality.

I would be surprised if there were more than 200 looters / rioters in total. And most of them were probably just being opportunistic ("oh shit, everything at CVS is FREE?!?! Honey, get the car, lets go!").

Arrest a few dozen of the more aggressive agitator types calling for revolution and holding up the black power fist and it would have dispersed.

341 I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually agree with something President Nine Iron said (just not his reason for saying it). It IS the fault of the press. The way to stop these riots is to shoot a couple of the rioters who are committing crimes, as that would indicate a potential consequence of throwing heavy objects and/or stealing a flatscreen. However, the cops can't use lethal force, even if its completely justified, because the press would absolutely bury them with claims of unjustifiable force and overkill, even though every single reporter knows that a couple of perforated protestors would cause them to think twice about their lawless behavior. Reporters won't report that because a. it violates their narrative and b. a full blown ongoing riot is better news since it fills up the news cycle for longer than "2 rioters killed, remaining return to their homes".

Sad day when I am in some agreement with the SCOAMF. That being said, I love the "post racial era" that he's ushered in. Can we get him some greek columns?
