Is It Time to Formally Separate America Into Two Or More Sovereign Countries?

The fascist SJWs, and their easy way with all corporations (such as GoFundMe), plus Saturday night spurred me to say aloud what I've thought to myself for years:

It's time to begin seriously discussing secession.

As the man says: the center cannot hold.

No one actually seems happy in this national marriage.

It's time to admit this and separate.

Update: GoFundMe has taken down another fundraiser page for another Christian besieged by radical homosexual zealots.

Only problem: the major urban areas are all filthy with SJW tyranny, and the rural areas aren't. There is no clean geographical break.

But maybe with some kind of free trade agreement we could just have the major cities be blue country and everybody else be red.

47 When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people, from whom its legitimate powers are derived, and for the advancement of whose happiness it was instituted, and so far from being a guarantee for the enjoyment of those inestimable and inalienable rights, becomes an instrument in the hands of evil rulers for their oppression.

When the Federal Republican Constitution of their country, which they have sworn to support, no longer has a substantial existence, and the whole nature of their government has been forcibly changed, without their consent, from a restricted federative republic, composed of sovereign states, to a consolidated central military despotism, in which every interest is disregarded but that of the army and the priesthood, both the eternal enemies of civil liberty, the everready minions of power, and the usual instruments of tyrants.

When, long after the spirit of the constitution has departed, moderation is at length so far lost by those in power, that even the semblance of freedom is removed, and the forms themselves of the constitution discontinued, and so far from their petitions and remonstrances being regarded, the agents who bear them are thrown into dungeons, and mercenary armies sent forth to force a new government upon them at the point of the bayonet.

When, in consequence of such acts of malfeasance and abdication on the part of the government, anarchy prevails, and civil society is dissolved into its original elements. In such a crisis, the first law of nature, the right of self-preservation, the inherent and inalienable rights of the people to appeal to first principles, and take their political affairs into their own hands in extreme cases, enjoins it as a right towards themselves, and a sacred obligation to their posterity, to abolish such government, and create another in its stead, calculated to rescue them from impending dangers, and to secure their future welfare and happiness.

52 We have been in a cold civil war for several years (at least since 2000, probably since Clinton's second term) and if it can be done peacefully, I'm all for it.

Even without a peaceful secession, there may be no alternative. The left is acting lawlessly with impunity--Obama on immigration, the IRS attacking conservatives, Hillary disregarding security and email requirements and also taking bribes/contributions through her foundation, riots in Baltimore and other cities that only cause 'cosmetic' damage, etc. On the other hand conservatives are brought up on criminal charges for so-called crimes when they've done nothing wrong (see Rick Perry, Texas and Governor Walker's supporters in Wisconsin). This is the first step in a totalitarian state but won't be the last.

If the left wants high taxes, generous welfare, carbon restrictions and limits on GMO food, let them have it.

54 I'm getting to the point where I'd be fine with it. But I don't think the Left will accept it. As often as some amongst them say they wish "Jesusland" would just go away and not be part of America anymore, they're not interested in peaceful separation. They want us to either convert or, failing that, to shut up. I imagine they will pull out all the stops to prevent Right America from seceding, and if that doesn't work, they'll try to infiltrate its institutions, just like they did with the Long March after the '60s.

But those who fund all that are wealthy, and those who report on it all are complicit, and those who adjudicate have made it their career to get power over you and use it.

That whole "limited government" thing seems like a *really* good idea, especially now that we've lost the limits.

Plus, if it did ever happen, the socialist part of the country would immediately become subject to take over - low hanging fruit (no pun intended) and the conservative country probably feel some idiotic notion of obligation to their former - and I use the term verrry loosely - brethren, that we'd probably be drawn in.

75 Step One in independence for the sovereign states is to move out of Daddy's basement.

State governments should start peeling themselves loose from the huge dependence many states have on Federal funding. It's been a great ride for state politicians: passing goodies to constituents without raising state taxes, but as long as the dependence is there, the obedience will be, too.

Even nominally conservative states suck vast amount from the Federal teat.

Nothing is ever going to happen on the front of moving back to real Federalism, including Mark Levin's Liberty Amendment idea, while the Feds can withhold Federal highway, health, you-name-it funds.

Start there. Then see where it goes.

I disagree - Conservatives simply need to abandon the two coasts. May be hard on them, but it was hard for the Jews who left Germany in the 1930's too. Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, we have lots of room left.

I see at least 3 new nations being formed, if not 5 or 6. California will probably go it alone, Pacific Northwest, Boswash & Northeast, Southeast (old Confederacy, mostly), and Texas and it's allies, which will include most of the Mississippi River States.

There will have to be some large population shifts, just like happened between India and Pakistan in 1947, but that's what we've come to.

Cities of one country enveloped by the land of another, across a continent?

Oh, that's unthinkable. That couldn't happen here.

Oh, yeah?

How long ago was it unthinkable that the President would encourage mobs to destroy businesses and random thugs to assassinate policemen? Two years ago?

How long ago was it unthinkable that the State would bankrupt someone for life for having the wrong opinions, and then the "private" corporate sphere would squash our effort to support them? One year ago? Six months ago?

192 The "legitimate avenues of consequence" (lawsuits, elections, criminal charges, unbiased media coverage, etc.) are being closed off to us on a daily basis.

Elections? Bought and paid for, with a side helping of voter fraud. Besides, the parties you vote for are just two sides of the same coin anyway. The "illusion of choice" when we are only going in one direction.

Courts? Politically motivated, appointed judges who disregard existing law and public opinion/votes to hold as they see fit. No "standing", not the right "protected class", etc., all used to dismiss legitimate claims.

Executive officers? Involved in so much daily criminal corruption that we can't keep track of it, which they will never, ever see the inside of a jail cell for, since they will never arrest themselves. Vote them out? Ha! See above.

Legislatures? If they aren't corrupt, they are just handing their powers over to the Executive or the Judicial without a fight, to the point that the Executive is unbounded by law and knows it.

Media? Hah!

Education? Hah Hah!

When the "legitimate avenues of consequence" get closed off, the "illegitimate avenues of consequence"gain popularity. People are starting to realize it - talk of "separation" (that isn't pooh-poohed but instead nodded in agreement) is a big indicator of it - people are tired of being hounded and simply want their agitators to go away. But they won't go away. That;s the problem - they want control over you. What happens when they don't go away and keep agitating and demanding?

What do you think happens? What happens in day to day life? A bloody nose or a beer bottle over the head.

Whether that's good or bad is irrelevant - it's a consequence, a response, to line stepping behavior. No different than the bite that follows teasing a cobra. Good and bad doesn't even enter into it.

216 Partitioning the country into two simple geographic regions is, as others have pointed out, so impractical as to be excluded from serious consideration. The map would look like a fractal, with red and blue counties interlaced with one another.

More practical: Do away with the federal government altogether, replacing it with 50 state governments. Of course, this would require a long, destructive civil war.

And at that point, after 20 million dead, maybe we'll realize that the states would be much stronger if united under a weak but real confederation. Maybe we'd draw up a charter; we could call it the Articles of Confederation.

And in a couple of hundred years, after the continuous inexorable growth of the federal government due to the undue influence of the arrested adolescent class of lawyers who implement their plans by changing the meanings of simple words in our governing documents, we'll do it all over, and have 30 million war dead.

Nope. A purge sounds more appealing to me.

Besides, the population cannot be broken up into neat geographic areas -- the demographics don't fit into that model. There would likely be civil war -- a far worse one than the one we had before.

But you are correct about food being a crucial item. If they allow for the divorce amicably, they'll realize that they don't have the means to grow it. We've got them by the balls on the matters that count. Whether we choose to castrate them or not, is up to them.

Yes. Even if we split there will simply be *new* people whose loves aren't complete unless they can control the people around them. This is why emigration has been the answer for those who don't want to be controlled. Since there are no "Offworld Colonies" it leaves physically fighting back. And that will be horrible.

279 You'd need to find someplace with considerable geographic separation that wasn't prime real estate to the interested elites - think Alaska, or even Greenland. Freedom ain't free indeed. Everyone looking at more tropical climes extra-US climes needs to keep in mind that rapacious neighbors will feed on comparatively rich expatriates absent paramilitary measures in large numbers. I'd toss Africa's failed states or the remote jungles of South America into the mix, but if you want to be left alone, a big part of that may involve going where others simply don't want to be.

282 Forget secession, let's talk about taking the law into the hands of the people because those in power don't seem to be willing to accept that they too are subject to the same laws.

Remember the Magna Carta? Probably not as the liberal/progressive schools don't teach history anymore and besides it's all dead white men and stuff.

Well, fcuk that. It's the rule of law (infamously spit on and laughed at by Bill Clinton and his fellow criminals in politics and the Media 20 years ago) that made and still make this country better and different than most every other country in the world with few exceptions. Most of those being Democracies of one type or another.

If the Gov't will not enforce the law then we no longer have a country ruled by the law.

The only way left to take it back is by some sort of force. Either by refusal to cooperate any further with our own enslavement or by active assault of those who control the means to enforce the law who aren't.

Eric Holder was a prime example of what happens when the law enforcers no longer enforce the law. What's going on in Wisconsin is another example. The ridiculous lawsuits and penalties for someone refusing to act creatively against their will are another.

When do we draw a line? When they demand we put religious symbols on our clothes to more easily discern who are potential "criminials" or when we're being herded into rail cars headed for some vague "work/re-education camp"?

Time to misbehave.

295 Yes, it is time to formally separate, and it's important to recognize how this state of affairs came about: It can all be traced back to Ted Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act. The reason the left feels free to wage all-out cultural war without fear that someday the same tactics will be used against them, is that mass immigration is pushing the country relentlessly leftward towards an eventual permanent Democratic majority, as exists now in California.

Hence, when the new Red State Union is formed, it's very important that its
constitution include some mechanism to prevent the left/corporate elite
from once again using mass immigration to elect a new people. Possibly voters could be given the right to determine immigration levels through popular referendum.

310 Why in hell would I consider giving up a chunk of my own country simply
because a number of numbskulls refuse to grow up, learn basic math and
take responsibility for their actions?

These are your options.
1) Cling to the status quo: Our enemies outnumber us and we continued to be ruled by their "government"; eventually it runs out of our money and can no longer support them, which leads to
2)Reduce their number to the point that the democratic process can produce *our* government again: I don't want that much blood on my hands and neither does anyone else here, so scratch that.
3)Military coup: I don't think it's going to happen, and I'm not sure how this ultimately avoids option 2.
4)Put them all in chains/revoke their voting privileges but keep the nation's territory intact: Process pretty much looks like option 2 and I'm not sure what you do with them once you've succeeded.
5)Ace's national divorce: We have to figure out how to sell it to them, but potentially this ends with what can be salvaged of the US military between us when they run out of money, leaving them to deal with their own consequences.

These are all bad options, but divorce is the only one that doesn't require massive bloodshed, and is therefore preferable.

She points out that the Progs would have no problems in inviting the Chinese or the U.N. to interfere in America once they have control over the coasts. I think she's right. 350 It is not time for America to separate into two sovereign nations, and never should be.

It is time for it to separate once again into 50 semi-sovereign nations, with a federal government doing things that only it can do, and that a state legislature cannot. Absent this, then two larger nations is acceptable, but not desirable, nor necessary.

The future will simply belong to those who want it badly enough. Right now, that is the left--but that is because they are currently more fully mobilized in their hearts, a mobilization that usually carries no personal cost for them under current conditions. Change that, and the calculations may change also, on the margins. And it is the margins you start with.

What some folks, particularly anti-religion ones, don't get is that without churchmen like St. Augustine, Duns Scotus, Thomas Abelard and any of the Scholastics, the Renaissance and the Enlightenment would have been well nigh impossible.

358 Yes. The answer is yes.

Now the question becomes: how?

Where do we make the divide? What is the verbiage of the new Constitution? What do we do to prevent or mitigate the backlash of the act, and there will be backlash?

I am unconcerned with the bloodiness of the fighting that is coming, for fairly obvious reasons, but what of the military, presumably it would be our side succeeding which means we surrender THAT asset and risk it being turned against us--and the red shoe debacle should prove quite soundly that the military is quite nicely in the lefty pocket, it should have been about an ROTC cadet being court martial end for refusal to follow the order.

They can kill me but I'll be goddamned if I am willingly giving up my home state, where my ancestors risked their lives almost 400 years ago to create a new and better world. They fought disease, starvation, hostile natives. They fought in every major conflict from Bacon's Rebellion up through me serving in Iraq (with the exception of WWI I think, for whatever reason.) They bled for this country. They DIED for this country. Don't I owe them that much? 370 Late to the party but had to say it.....we can see it coming from a way off but it won't be any one person or group that sets it deliberately in motion. It will be a trigger event that mushrooms into the stratosphere of consciousness and that will set the stage for the "divorce". Yes, it will be war but it is that or live on your knees forevermore. From the mayors of big cities giving rioters room to destroy to the BLM trying to evict and conquer it is growing fast and will hit in some random place that no one saw coming. Look how fast WACO went up, that is your guardians at work. Look at other incidents of misconduct of the government, IRS, hidden emails, illegal immigration, making ICE a baby-sitting service, unconstitutional acts by the Feds and hand-wringing by the locals lest they make their masters upset....all aimed at individuals but sometime in the future they will move the stone that triggers an avalanche and it will be on. We came close at the Bundy ranch (one pulled trigger and.......) Now they are face to face at a gold mine. These armed camps are becoming more frequent as more people refuse to knuckle under. We now have Sheriffs telling state legislatures that they won't enforce new gun laws so even the governments are fracturing. The cities will rue the day that they awoke the countryside.

376 I have been saying for years that the social compact is broken. There are two fundamentally incompatible visions of America, and those on one side have no regard for the civil rights of the other side.
I think there are three options going forward:
1) tyranny
2) civil war
3) peaceful re-negotiation and/or breakup
#3 can be done through public pressure. Most people in every state have loved ones in other states; probably much more so than was the case in 1861.That factplus communications technology would enable citizens to resist feckless zealots and fascistsin leadership who might prefer war.
Thisthird option needs to happen soon, before one side is trampled on too much or there is another Reichstag fire.

Posted by: Spudnik at April 27, 2015 11:07 PM (SH35r)

377 I think it is Richard Fernandez who claimed that the U.S. is currently in a cold civil war.

In 1861 in borderline states, some families split along ideological lines where brothers found themselves in opposing armies in the Civil War.

That split looks surgically clean compared with the polarization and demographics we have today. Even Texas has a forty to sixty percent split across party (and ideological) lines. And tell me how many individual families fall completely on on one side or another.

What is happening is very simple. Americans don't know their own history, and the painful carnage of the past has been all but forgotten. We once remembered and respected the high price a country pays when we don't give each other enough latitude and respect to live and let live.

We are going to have to rediscover it.

380 I'm probably too late for commenting but I've been on board this train for a while now. Watching the country I love waste away into what it has been depressing for long enough. For me it was more being the state of Utah and being told by a judge that my vote to change the state Constitution here was meaningless because some mental cases want me to bow down at their Altar of Buttsecks.

I think you can keep the Constitution as it is mostly intact - just remove some of the fluff that progs have added like changing the Senators into Congresspeople as well as the income tax. Beef up the 10th Amendment so it is clear that judges would have to consider that as the top priority in the event that some situation hasn't been listed out already. Either way I think states need to be given an extra mechanism to serve as a check on the 3 federal branches. Clarify grounds for impeachment and clarify the "commerce Clause" so you can't twist it into a broad law to mean whatever you want. And either outlaw political parties or make it so that smaller parties can gain influence in an easier way so we don't end up with what we have now, which is a one party system with two names.

382 I've been thinking for a while that we need to start battlefield prep. Things are going to get much worse. We may want to start segregating our political profiles from our personal ones. By that I mean have NO connection between the e-mail addys you use for business and personal finance and the ones you use for politics. It would really stink to have your power turned off because you can't make a payment ever since you crushed a special snowflakes argument on a social forum. Use different devices and IPs if you can.

Check your FB and other Social media pages. Have no overlap there as well. If you are vocal enough, they could be checked. Plus, if you haven't already deleted anything embarrassing from them. do so now. That beer can pyramid photo you posted from your college days won't look so cool on your boss's monitor as you are being fired.

Lastly, build up a supply of additional profiles on news/discussion sites. It would be better to do so now, which will give them a longer existence. Post several comments just so it becomes legitimate. I personally wouldn't want to go sock-puppet with them. Just think that any of these could instantly be your primary discussion identity.

Posted by: Guy in Texas at April 28, 2015 01:55 AM (AcmH4)

384 You have no idea what you are advocating. The separation of which you speak would be occasioned by death and destruction on a level this country has not seen since the Civil War. In fact, given the advances in firearm and explosive technology in the intervening 150 years the magnitude of destruction would be several times worse. If you think what is happening in Baltimore is bad imagine that multiplied by a factor of 10 in communities across this country. My ancestors went down this road before. It didn't work out. Prior to the Civil War Mississippi was one of the richest states in the Union. Look at it now. It still hasn't recovered from a war that ended 150 years ago. Furthermore, such a split would not simply occur with out outside interference from the wolves waiting at our nation's door. Instead of promoting this we need to do everything in our power to prevent it.

Posted by: Joel at April 28, 2015 04:56 AM (fYfuB)

385 I felt almost certain that had Romney won, secession would have moved to the front burner. All the NE media, coastal 'elites' and the Ivy League-types would have been rubbing their chins and discussing how hopelessly divided we are as a nation. And that perhaps, a structural division would be wise. You know--so the enlightened ones wouldn't have to live under Neanderthals like Romney and those of us too dumb to 'get it' yet.

In such a case, as sorrowful as it would be, were I President, I would have reluctantly agreed--in order to 'strengthen what remains' (if anything actually does). I would also have let it be known that, if those desirous of leaving would begin work on a practical plan, my administration would consider a framework. Also, I would let it be known that I would not expend one ounce of American blood trying to prevent their leaving.

As it is, O won again and if we can't save a part--we'll soon have nothing. JMHO.

Posted by: jrrt at April 28, 2015 06:51 AM (s7dxf)

386 I have been hoping the secession idea would start slipping into mainstream consciousness for a while. Personally, I see no value in this nation sticking together. There are irreconcilable political and cultural differences here. And I'm entirely sick of it being insisted that I'm "tolerant" of everything, while these cretins are 100% intolerant of our views. There is a social contract in play here. And when one side has a seperate set of rules for themselves, that contract will not last.
Let me know when the movement picks up steam. I'm all in.
And I'm glad I'm on the side with the guns.

The entire "blue america" would be Baltimore.

Posted by: Ed at April 28, 2015 07:23 AM (udRDY)

388 Man, there are some insane logistical issues with this. We realize that2/3 of the counties in this country are probably red. We literally have surround these blue urban shitholes where the left has their voting base corralled like a bunch of livestock.
I really think it should be broken up into anywhere from 4-7 different countries. Being a midwesterner, I'd love to see an independent nation made up of Ohio, WV, KY, IN, and Southern Illinois, and maybe even parts of other states as well. (No thanks, Chicago. Fuck off and die.)

Posted by: Ed at April 28, 2015 07:34 AM (udRDY)

389 The only reasonable outcome is two split the country into two or more separate nations. I love this country and all it has given me, but for the last 30 years the hatred from the left is unbearable. Why, if they hate conservatives like me so much, should we remain together? We simply do not have a common culture, philosophy or set of values. There is no reason nor any purpose in pretending otherwise. As for how, your mom taught you this one years ago: One side divides, one chooses.

392 I feel compelled to add: what's not dying in America is the love of freedom. In case one has forgotten that, you have only to notice the resurgence in support for the 2nd Amendment, that great bette noir of the left.

No, what's dying is the socon subset. Right now, Americans hate/fear the socons more than they hate/fear the fascists, because they don't believe fascism can happen here. (They're wrong, but that's another question.)

The way forward, if you really support the notion of America as a free country, is to bury the socon/paleocon crap and start pretending that every liberty is worth defending for a change.

Posted by: DriveBy at April 28, 2015 02:34 PM (C9Vc8)

393 You all are making the solution more difficult than it needs to be. What does the "self-sustaining culture" in the big cities actually produce? Nothing. They are net takers of everything.
Isolated from we the producers, they will shortly starve, both financially and physically.
One week without food, energy and revenue and the cities will be cannibalizing each other.
Problem solved.

395 I am 100% with Jjod on this one.

As we've established, there cannot, by ideology or geography, be an amicable divorce. The alternative to amicable divorce is revolution, and while the left is the most twisted from America's original spirit, I have the strong sense that the right has lost the mercy of Lincoln and Adams, a mercy which is necessary if you don't want a revolution to end badly.

So, don't secede formally. Secede, instead, by the manner in which you live. Don't wait for legal permission to start a Christian fundraiser, or build a shed in your backyard, or stop a shoplifter, or save someone from drowning, or educate the next generation. Just do it. And if you do get in legal trouble for it, it's the enforcers who will have some serious explaining to do.
