GoFundMe Blocks Fundraising for Embattled Baker Who Refused To Make Gay Wedding Cake, Citing "Hateful" Acts
They shellacked Sweet Cakes by Melissa, a Christian-owned business, with a $135,000 fine for refusing to bake a gay wedding cake.
So people tried to chip in -- through GoFundMe -- to pay that fine. And the "Jalverts of the SJWs," as Rod Dreher calls them, demanded GoFundMe block the use of its site for this purpose. And GoFundMe -- which now enters the list of companies which must be boycotted and hopefully destroyed -- complies.So, there we have it: the Social Justice Warriors, not content to have driven this bakery out of business, are now trying to prevent people from giving the bakers money to pay their monumental fine. It is not enough for the SJWs that the Klein family business was destroyed. And it is not enough that the Kleins are now struggling to feed their five children, and facing a $135,000 fine that will probably drive them to bankruptcy. Nope, the progressive stance is now to grind those people to dust, in the name of social justice.And yet Hillary Clinton took millions and millions in "charitable donations" despite being a legislator who could block gay marriage -- and claimed the desire to do so, until the polls on the issue shifted in 2013. "Companies" are in business to do one thing - make a return on investment. Dealing with real or imagined (FB/Twit/Whatever = imagined) bogeymen isn't profitable, so they're not going to push back - and there is no history of larger firms ever having done much pushback.
Where we've gone off of the proverbial rails is the sea change in society - back in the day such idiocy was publicly shamed and ridiculed. Today, however, "Teh OUTRAGE" is worn as a badge of honor, and is saluted by the mandarins.

It would depend on what the statute says is to be done. In many states the legislature is usually given the authority to create courts and tribunals, though you have to check the state constitution to see actually what the authority is.

Samaritan's Purse is a charity started by Franklin Graham, Billy Graham's son. He's a lot more grounded than his daddy, is a conservative, and created the organization in response to the war in Bosnia/Herzegovina, by sending shoeboxes with small toys, flashlights, socks, mittens, etc to distribute to the children in the fray. The response was massive-with many Bosnian converts to Christianity because of it. Hubby saw it first hand when he was there during the war.
Now, it continues the shoebox ministry, but also has an alternative to heifer international, a secular/Rockefeller charity that provides farm/agricultural aide to impoverished people. Samaritan's purse also sponsors missionary doctors/nurses and infrastructure investment. It is a solid organization, and spends more than 10% of its donations on actual charity. (it's actually closer to 50 or 60% I think.)

So here's the thing: This is pretty much trolling. Very few bakers or florists will turn down a job like this. A gay wedding (actually, wedding *reception*, which has no legal standing) is just a party.
That's it. Just a party. A little theater too. That's it. The really devout Christian would see a secular gay wedding no different from any secular, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu wedding.
But I think that now I would oppose serving gay weddings on principle. Because I like to be able to say no.

Wow, that's better than I thought. As I mentioned, my husband was in Bosnia, and worked with a local church on the weekends. It was packed, with people standing around the outside, listening at windows every time they met, and many of the newcomers were former Muslims who had received aid/shoeboxes from Samaritan's Purse. Good people, mostly volunteers who work with the organization.

Pistol: easy to use, and the wife can operate it, provided you buy the right kind. Bullets won't penetrate too many walls.
Rifle: firepower and accuracy

I don't know if it helps, but when we lived in the Middle East, overseas security said the sound of a shotgun cocking was the one sound that would cause a perp to stop whatever he was doing and leave. Next, the sound of big dogs barking. Not little yappy things, big dogs. We have three of the latter, but need some of the former, I think.

Basic Mossberg pump with two barrels (longer one to enjoy trap shooting, which is quite fun and easy) is usually out there for around $300. Order yourself a few cases of low-recoil trap/practice rounds, and a few boxes of low-recoil law enforcement buckshot rounds. Go practice and have fun getting good with the thing (both of ya's) at a range. Keep the gun fitted with the 18.5" barrel at home with the self-defense rounds handy.
There's really quite a dramatic difference in skills required, confidence level, etc. between a shotgun (esp. for home defense use) and either handguns or rifles. Shotgun's much easier.

1. Shotgun and Pistols have penetration issues. In many cases a fast, fragmenting rifle round will penetrate less than a pistol round. The specifics are complicated - just assume EVERY bullet will penetrate EVERY wall.
2. Pistols are not easier to use. I could point you towards dozens of rifles and shotties that are far easier to operate then most pistols.
3. The lethality of shotguns is somewhat overstated.
4. Racking a shotgun just gives your position away, and can be a failure point under duress.
I would recommend a tactical semi-auto shotgun or an AR (M4 style). And, lots of practice.
Handguns I would wait on until you established a practice/maintenance routine, get a carry permit, and figure out what you're going to do with it. And, a lot more practice.

A shotgun is an excellent choice, BUT ...
... the rounds will go through a (sheetrock) wall. Maybe not 2, if you're using birdshot, but plan on at least 1.
Plan on backup material: several cans of pepper spray, maybe a can or 4 of bear spray (fogger), a couple of stun guns, a tire-iron or two ... and many big zip-ties, for subduing anyone still remaining. I post this recommendation a lot.
There will likely be times when your shotgun is not the easiest thing to grab, or someone is in the way, or someone is behind the target, or ...
How much hesitation will you have in shooting someone? Probably very much less if you have to pepper-spray them ... and the legal ramifications are considerably less.
Bear-spraying a group of 10 or 15 youts might be a one-time deal ... they won't be back ... or they will, but you and your friends and neighbors will be ready, and reality will be clear.

I would recommend a 12 gauge pump shotgun for an entry-level home defense/all purpose weapon. Depending upon wife's build, etc, 20 gauge might be a better fit.
Projectile penetration issues in houses is a problem, and some folks recommend M4/AR type weapons as a solution to this problem. There is a valid argument here, but for a novice, I'd still recommend something simple. Pump shotgun is very simple. Plus, Uncle Joe thinks they're all anyone ever needs.
Practice with anything is extremely important.

My advice, as stated, was simply that shotguns are easier to learn how to use for the application in question (close quarters indoors defense) than the other two platforms.
I'll stick with my pump action preference. Just one less potential complication (and yes, one can/should work out any ammo compatibility issues with a semi-auto well in advance).

Haven't been able to find any, but reduced recoil law enforcement #1 buck (vs. 00) has been shown to actually deliver reduced wall-penetration, I believe. In any case, pep, if you do get a shotgun, try out the various reduced recoil defense rounds available. I've got Hornady TAP rounds and they are very easy to keep on target (also have a tight pattern). 18.5" pump shotgun and good defense rounds can make almost anyone basically capable of home defense in short order.
Practice - why I suggested getting a case (250 or 500) of light recoil trap ammo and shootin' the bejeesus out of a new shotgun until operation is second nature. Then doing monthly practice sessions - or better, screwing around with trap shooting or local tactical fun shoots.
