Clinton's Charity Only Spends 10% of Its Billions on Actual Charity

It does seem to spend an awful lot of money on "other" expenses, and lots of money for Clinton travel.

Clinton Upkeep is apparently the "charity's" main point. Indeed, it has long been alleged that this "charity" has always been chiefly a way to keep Hilary's Government-In-Waiting on her payroll through 2000's, until she could put them all on the official government payroll again.

If you take a narrower, and more realistic, view of the tax-exempt group’s expenditures by excluding obvious overhead expenses and focusing on direct grants to charities and governments, the numbers look much worse. In 2013, for example, only 10 percent of the Clinton Foundation’s expenditures were for direct charitable grants. The amount it spent on charitable grants–$8.8 million–was dwarfed by the $17.2 million it cumulatively spent on travel, rent, and office supplies. Between 2011 and 2013, the organization spent only 9.9 percent of the $252 million it collected on direct charitable grants.

Sean Davis goes through a very steep drop-off in actual charitable expenditures, and concludes:

In just a few short years, the Clinton's primary philanthropic project transitioned from a massive player in global pharmaceutical distribution to a bloated travel agency and conference organizing business that just happened to be tax-exempt.

Over at Hot Air, Ed Morrissey reports that the head of the Sunlight Foundation calls the Clinton "charity" a "slush fund."

The Sunlight Foundation -- a charity watchdog -- sees the Clintons' charity as mainly a charity for the Clintons.

As Jon Gabriel of Ricochet told us on our award-winning podcast*, another charity watchdog-- Charity Navigator -- simply refuses to give the Clinton Fund For Political Ambition any rating at all, because:

We don't evaluate Bill Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

Why not? We have determined that this charity's atypical business model cannot be accurately captured in our current rating methodology.

Many people continue spinning this by claiming that Bill and Hilary don't take a salary from the initiative.

But this is bullshit.

First-class air travel paid for by the charity? Luxurious offices? Constant meetings with major political donors?

This is like claiming that the White House itself is not a luxury for the occupant to enjoy, simply because the serving president doesn't own it.

No, but he controls it during his presidency, and has the sole beneficial use of it.

Similarly, the Clintons' billion dollar "charity" provides them with dozens of workers who arrange anything they might like, swank offices, frequent fundraising and networking opportunities, and first class travel accommodations to wherever the Clintons' personal political ambitions might required them this week.

It's ridiculous to claim that the Clintons don't profit from this.

To be honest, if you could have the use of a billion-dollar organization and all its luxe appointments without actually owning it, so much the better for you: Then you get all the benefit of that organization without having to pay taxes on it.

Plus, I didnt like the idea of UPS using my donation for their tax write off.

Oh there were some other reasons why that I can't remember at the moment.

I tried to stay the hell out of all of their financial stuff and they kept hauling me back into it. Big Boss finally said it was because I was the only one in the office who didn't blab it to everyone else in the office. I then pointed out to him the incentive structure he had created. He then reminded me he had my parents' phone number and he would tell on me to Mommy.

There may have been pointing and flailing on my part followed by a well played, well played.

I have seen this discussed multiple times. A lot of her property will not be revalued until she dies, so it is carried on the books at the value it was when she inherited it. For example, her personal diamonds, gemstones, and pearls, not the Royal Jewels, are considered to the finest, rarest, and most valuable in the world. When asked for an an evaluation, the person in charge of her collection looked offended and said something like, "They will never be for sale, so their monetary value is literally priceless." Her people deliberately do not give out information in order to keep her off the top of the list.

Ripped from the comments of HA:

Longtime lurker.

I'm involved in the rescue efforts up there. Some of those expeditions are clients of mine and we've been working with the heli evac company to get everyone down. To those who might be genuinely interested in what's going on and what happened, here ya go:

The first earthquake ended up breaking off a large block of ice (and when I meant large, I mean the size of house) between Pumori and Nuptse. The mountains make up the west ridge above the valley that those who climb the South Col route go up. The ice block fell right in the most dangerous part of the mountain: the Ice Fall between Camp 1 and Base Camp. Due to the steep slope, the glacier breaks up into huge seracs with lots of deep crevasses. It takes weeks to build a route through there each season.

The avalanche landed right in there, destroying the route, killing a few people who were in there. But the avalanche was so big, it carried right into Base Camp, which is huge, killing many that were just unfortunate enough to have camped closer to that area. In all the years of expeditions on Everest, no avalanche had EVER reached those points.

This avalanche was like a bomb, less like what you might think of normal avalanches with snow. There is house sized ice barrelling down at terminal velocity and exploding ice everywhere. Not to be too ghoulish, but the injuries and deaths are extremely gruesome.

So, there are over a 100 people caught above the ice fall. They can't get down because the route that goes through it was destroyed and it takes weeks to establish. The heli company that is working there has gotten about have the folks from 19- 20k ft down to safety. There have been some seriously heroic rescue attempts and lives saved with many risking their own safety as aftershocks and further avalanches risk more incidents.

Down in the some of the valleys, there are rescue efforts to help areas where entire villages have been wiped out by other avalanches and landslides.

The internet commenter is devilish breed. Enjoy the disaster porn. Those saying that these people got what they deserved should just go jump in a lake. Jump in two lakes.

He has an upcoming fight in May. A title defense at UFC 187.

Anyway, yesterday it appears that he got in a mild fender-bender. He ran a red light and caused a 3 car accident. No serious injuries.

Not that big a deal.

Except he appears to have fled the scene of the accident.

On foot.

He was driving a rental car so I guess he thought he could just ditch it.

He probably shouldn't have left his weed and a bunch of paperwork with his name on it in the car.

Also, ppl at the scene could identify him since he's literally the only 6'5 world famous black athlete who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. So kinda easy to spot as he took off sprinting into the desert hills.

He's still in hiding 24 hrs later. Cops are trying to find him.

A minor fender bender and pot possession misdemeanor is turning into an epic fuck-up.

My guess is that pretty soon, you'll get some photos of her checking out at the Shop-Rite in Chappaqua. Oh, and since age is a concern you'll probably get some additional photos of her at a Rhianna concert. If things get really bad, maybe even a photo or two of her puffing the cheeba.

249 So why did Jones panic and run?

Obvious guess is he's trying to sober up and avoid any drug tests and evade DUI charges.

Another possibility is -- if he's on any steroids or PEDs -- he could be terrified of blood tests for that reason.

He fight is May 23rd. Probably a million $ payday. So he was probably trying to save that.

A pot or DUI charge wouldn't effect his career much.
Pissing hot for PEDs would, though. UFC cracking down much harder now. He'd be stripped of his title and suspended for 1-2 years likely.

DUI might postpone the fight. PED bust would be much more costly. Probably worth sprinting into the desert to avoid.

For example, without the charity, would Bill and Prince Harry have ever met Richard Epstein and been invited to fly on his private jet down to Pedophile Island?

No, probably not.

It's far worse than this, btw. Remember, Hillary's speaking engagements are not only expensive (at $225K a pop), but IN ADDITION to that mere speaking fee, she also demands the venue provide her and her staff with a private jet, accomodations (including a Presidential suite, or similar, for Her Rodham Majesty), a stenographer, food, incidentals, any telephone charges, a teleprompter, etc. All the bills go to the host; nothing goes to the Foundation.

So yeah, she's getting the Foundation to cover her flights and shit, in those instances where she can't con some dumbass venue to cover the costs for her. More often than not, the schlubs covering her costs are paying the FOUNDATION for the "privilege" of having her condescend to speak to them for "no more than 90 minutes, with no more than 50 photos of at most 100 people."

Oh, and there will be no press coverage or unapproved photos taken at her events.

this slush fund was [not] going to be discovered in a Presidential race?
==

Good question. First of all, this was hardly a secret. Those who were paying attention (ie "right wingers") knew about this in 2008, last time Hilary ran for POTUS. I remember reading at the time that her fundraising and Bill's extracurricular activities would effectivey doom her Presidential bid as soon as word got out on them.

As to how she/they thought this would never come out, I have two explanations (and they're not mutually exclusive):

a-The Clintons are so shameless, so used to dealing with massive scandals, and are so expectant of a compliant press they didn't really care.

b-Running for POTUS is a way of furthering the CGI, rather than the other way around. In other words, despite the public perception, Hilary doesn't even really WANT to be POTUS. She just wants the attention and cash that being a candidate generates. I don't think this is as crazy as it sounds. . .supposedly privately HRC swore she'd never run for office again after BHO cleaned her clock seven years ago. Her health is questionable, she's not getting any younger, etc. Running "one last time" fills the coffers and keeps her "relevant" for 1-2 more years. If she wins, great. . .if not, so what?

He's angling to get this deal with Iran so he can set himself up for some cherry, international diplomat gig in the future. I think he wants to see himself as head of the UN assembly, or maybe something in the Hague. Who knows? He really doesnt' care about the fallout of getting Iran the bomb, or the ability to GET the bomb. As far as he's concerned, all that matters is "Obama Makes Historic Deal With Iran." The nature of that "Historic" is of little interest to him.

He'd rather a republican like Jeb be in office, so he can throw (verbal) bombs at him for the next 8 years while he works up his own scam to become fabulously wealthy like the Clintons.

And I believe that the Obamas and Clintons absolutely hate each other. So I think Obama would have no problem fucking Hillary over.

His first choice, of course, is a progressive candidate who would "carry on his legacy" but I think a R is a safer bet for "his legacy" then a Hillary! presidency is.

Because she'd be able to "roll back" unpopular parts of OCare, for example, if that would help her in the polls.

The Catch-22 though is that this scam ONLY works if Hillary is still showing she is going to try to get power enough to pay these favorable donations back. Once Hillary is done with office (either having obtained or been trounced) they are going to have to get Chelsea into a position where she might obtain the power to award donors in the future or those donors will go find someone with power or the potential to bribe.

The only "good" think I can say about Warren as a candidate is that she's not been involved in so many scandals as the Clintons.

But she's not a particularly good speaker, not charismatic, lacks relevant experience and accomplishment, and is otherwise nearly entirely unsuited to be POTUS. Hell, she barely won election as Senator in **MA** for Pete's sake. Assuming ANY other Dem with experience has the balls to step up, I don't even think she'd win the Dem nomination. OMalley isn't really historic.

Julian Castro got the nod to run HUD last year giving him a national profile... He also spoke at the dem convention in 2012 (remember, thats how obama got national exposure -- as a state senator in 2004)... PLUS he's hispanic.

388 So the IRS, which examines requests for t-e status with a fine tooth comb (but only if from tea-baggers), gives only a cursory glance at Clinton Foundation tax returns.

It is now so beyond corrupt, past 3rd world banana republic, I can't imagine how much further it will drop in the next 18 months. But gravities a bitch, and a cruel master.

389 As some above have mentioned, 10% is probably not that unusual for a charity. The thing is, the Clinton's aren't a direct charity - they're just a filter that gives money to other charities. So if you give something to them, only 10% of 10% gets used for anything - 1%. People who give to them obviously don't care or they would give directly to a charity. It's obviously for influence.

EVERYONE involved -- employees, donors, government, others in politics media -- knows / knew exactly what this "charity" was -- a way for the Clintons to get incredibly rich and to retain some of their power post- white house.... and to be able to influence peddle around the world.

And yet somehow the people in Hait were expecting some assistance - Bill promised them, and IIRC fundraised on, assitance w/rebuilding, including creating jobs. I think Bill has been dancing on that line bewteen what the charity will/will not do in facilitate vs. actual, tangible results from all that facillitatin'.

Oh this is easy.

Hillary was always the money, Bill was always the player. Arkansas seems to play it like that - the Governor is paid little, so to approach him you grease the palm of the wife. The Foundation is just the big time version of what they've done the whole fkn time. The mistake is only that its Hillary's turn to enter the light and thats a role she was never groomed for and didn't really learn in her recent training wheels period.

10% is very unusual for a charity. If they were raising money "for a cause," they'd be (rightly) denounced as fraudsters stealing money from donations.

And that 10% in and of itself is suspect, because like you say, it's all pass through to other charities. And someone should investigate those other "charities" i have a feeling they're as much charities as the Clintons charity is.

I concede that the electorate has shifted to the left - but not so much that we should expect the continual election of people who share BO's ideology.

480 Part of my job (there are many parts) is to pay the bills at my office. So each week, sometimes a couple times a week, I give my boss a stack of checks to sign. He signs them, then gives them back to me to mail off.

Now, typically what I do, is I get the envelope all ready to go- addressed, stamped, stuffed before I even get the checks signed, so that when I get the checks back, all I have to do is mail them off.

Well, today I got an inter-office email from a coworker, someone who has been nasty to me ever since she was hired (9 months ago, compared to my 8 years). She said that someone came in and a check wasn't signed and that has happened to her before- that this is the third time this has happened, and it is embarrassing for the office. And, that I need to check to make sure ALL the checks are signed before I send them off. The note was very aggressive and accusatory.

I don't mind to do this, but the whole blaming me thing I can do without. Am I being oversensitive? Is my coworker just plain rude? What say you?

490 US v Nixon was not about executive privilege - at least in terms of how we think about it. It was not about (or should not have been about) whether Nixon had to turn over certain documents that he claimed were privileged.

Nixon as the unitary executive was the chief prosecutor. He was the principal - Jaworski was the agent. Nixon said he did not need those documents and would not seek him. As the chief prosecutor that was his decision and his decision alone.

The court basically said an agent of the President has rights over the president when it comes to enforcing the law.

That cannot be right.

Doesn't matter. I am sure said coworker has already gone to the boss and put her spin on the situation. That's how it always seems to happen.

Other complaint today- a few weeks back, my boss asked me that I train her on some of my duties, so that if I am ever out, or (God forbid) anything ever happened to me, she would be able to at least do some of the minimum duties. Well, she took this to mean that she would be doing it all the time. So, I let her do them about 80-85% of the time. Well, this past week, I have been taking over on a few cases, only because they are related to some cases I am working on, so I took responsibility of them.

I got another note asking if she wasn't supposed to be doing that work anymore. She noticed I had been doing some of the work. Once again, aggressive and accusatory.

560 I believe charitable foundations must give a minimum of 5% of the corpus each year to retain their status.

At least that's how it works for us smaller tax cheats.

Depends on how you define paygrade. Actual paygrade? Seniority? Job title?
I would be considered the higher-up.

BUT, she is buddy-buddy with the boss. To the point she can do no wrong. So, I think if my boss were forced to choose between me and her, he'd choose her.

And, technically, I AM HR.....so consider it reported.

No CC? Ctrl+C = Ctrl+V. Don't know the environment but In a family / single owner business that would definitely work.

Unlike Hillary, save your emails, regardless.

Yeah, because rules and stuff.

So...what was his excuse for the October War? And Suez? And 1948?

Posted by: Circa (Insert Year Here) at April 27, 2015 03:25 PM (659DL)"

The Egyptians won the October War. No seriously, they believe this. They have a museum in Cairo that tells the whole story. Suez? That was the British and French, not the Jews. And 1948? More of that shape shifting trickery.
