16 So you know those horror films where the call is "Coming from inside the House!" deals? Had that happen to me yesterday. Phone rings, I see the caller id, and it's me calling me. Weird thing is I only have one phone, and it's a land line.

unless the whole floor is trashed, you can patch it, sand it and re-stain it

24 How about Lancasters vs. B-17s?

Posted by: rickl at April 25, 2015 11:26 AM (sdi6R)

Pretty sure the B-17 kicked Lancaster's ass. Bigger payload, etc.

Well, misread my own post. B-17 had over twice the bomb load of a Lancaster.

Posted by: Nip Sip at April 25, 2015 11:35 AM (0FSuD)

28 Uhm Nip Sip go play in the sandbox.

B-17G could carry 8,000lb of bombs.

The Lancasters that attacked and sank Tirpitz, each plane dropped a 22,000lb bomb.

31 I am always reminded of The Longest Day, when the Nazi general looks out his window and sees 1,000 bombers coming across the sky.

Tighten up that asshole?

I did 4.500 vs 14,000.

36 Like I said, just going by the link I posted. Can you image seeing and hearing a 1,000 planes coming over to bomb your ass?

Have you ever heard a B-17? They are NOT quiet. I can not imagine the sound of a 1,000.

37 Nip Sip for the 71st Doolittle Raider Reunion, I was on the flight line with 6 B-25s, 3 T-6 Texans, and 3 SNJs. And they were all taxing and taking off for the fly by. I got blasted by the prop wash from the B-25J Texas Rose of the CAF. And I was totally grooving.

Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at April 25, 2015 11:49 AM (lQHc1)

38 Ever pull up an old carpet? Look at the dirt, dust and other muck that comes out.

I prefer my hardwood. I put it down myself, 3000 sq feet, and then sanded and finished it with Bona Seal, with a little color. Awesome look.

Can't stand carpet...

I was going to quote Ralph Giordano, a german writer. Unfortunately, he died a few months ago. His dad was italian and his mother a german jew. He and his mom hid in Berlin during the war. They only felt safe to come out when the bombers were flying overhead at night They cheered when the bombs were dropped.

45 Carpet versus hardwood? Well, obviously it's.... oh, wait, are you talking about flooring?

Posted by: Rolf at April 25, 2015 12:36 PM (Boqht)

46 Lancaster carried the largest payload of any bomber in WW2 until the B-29 came along. B-17s had a smaller payload than the B-24 Liberator, for example.

If you have allergies hardwood floors are the way to go...much cleaner than carpet.

47 I live at the beach (SE NC). Ceramic tile in most of house. Carpet accumulates sand and hardwood gets scratched.
