Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | John Hopkins University Bans Chick-Fil-A From Campus, As a "Microaggression"Who's doing the aggressing here? In an 18-8 vote, the Student Government Association at Johns Hopkins voted not to "support the proposal of a Chick-fil-A, in a current or future sense, particularly on any location that is central to student life." The anti-Chick-fil-A bill listed seven main reasons why the restaurant should be banned from campus. The first is that "the Student Government Association of Johns Hopkins University aims to provide a safe, supportive environment for all university affiliates now and in the future." The fourth is that "visiting prospective and current students, staff, faculty, and other visitors who are members of the LGBTQ+ community or are allies would be subjected to the microaggression of supporting current or future Chick-fil-A development plans."Thanks to @rdbrewer4, in the sidebar. I know, I have to do real news; I'll do the Trans Pacific Partnership thing in a bit. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

There's barely a taco bell or burger king you can get to. Then again, the city has real restaurants. micro-aggression? sometimes the stupid is so thick, you don't even know where to begin. But, it's the millenials. what can you do? They think that calling censorship "preventing microagression" is a clever trick to side step the fact that it's censorship. Time for some Christian groups to turn this b*tch on its head.
Dear Dean X: We wish to bring to your attention an ongoing pattern of discriminatory statements and even hate speech directed against our members. These unchecked aggressions against our members' faith create a hostile learning environment where their views and religion are denied equal protection and cause a general feeling that both learning and social spaces are unsafe for Christian students. We hereby request the following changes be made post-haste: Anti-Christian discriminatory speech be subject to the same scrutiny and penalties as racially and sexually discriminatory speech. An assistant dean for religious freedom office be created with the goal of ensuring protection of all religiously observant students. Creation of a student advisory board to advise the administration on matters of concern to observant students, especially regarding but not limited to guest speakers, forums, and student group activities that demonstrate or show hostility to religion, particularly Christianity. We look forward to your affirmative response to these requests in the next two weeks. Failure to so respond will cause us to refer the matter to our attorneys for recourse. I am super curious as to how the 8 people who voted for Chik-fil-A are being treated. Do they have to wear scarlet chickens emblazoned on their clothing as a nadge of shame? Are they suffering under the ten minutes of hate that social media specializes in?
On a related note, I think I am doing Chik-fil-A wrong, I don't actually love their chicken sammiches. Is there a special condiment or something I am missing? How about an Indian joke not named Elizabeth Warren?
It seems that, out in the Oklahoma Territory, was an old Indian chief who was known far and wide for the accuracy of his weather predictions. Farmers wouldn't dare plant their crops without consulting the chief. One day, a rancher, wondering if the weather would be good for his upcoming cattle drive, called on the noble red man. "How, Chief," he said. "What's the weather going to be like for ther next week?" "No can tell," the chief replied, downcast. "Radio busted." Posted by: comrade willow at April 24, 2015 01:41 PM (nqBYe) Here's the serious problem with that plan. It requires that I accept the premise that my sexuality is per se political which I most adamantly do not. Rather the contrary. This is the bind. This is the quandary. This is one of the arguments that has raged since I was back in college and rode Ripper to class. In order to fight back against such a system within the system, you must accept that the system exists for a reason. Thus, to use Title IX in a gender neutral fashion, you must act as if you believe Title IX is applicable. To file a countersuit against a bakery for refusing to back a Christian cake, you must accept that a business can be sued for religious and political discrimination. It's conceding a premise that should not be conceded. The problem with that is that you are then removing lawfare as a weapon. No, I have no solution. Posted by: alexthechick - SMOD/Orion Death Star 2016 at April 24, 2015 01:47 PM (mf5HN) 248
Ive said it before, it's astonishing that a country founded on religious liberty and conscience is now on the cusp of having the sensibilities of a group of people who were thought to be afflicted by a mental disorder as late as 1973 become the driver and final say on what is acceptable religious conscience as well as acceptable social precepts and norms.

Curiously enough, there is one valid reason for not having Chick Fil-A on campus: they close Sundays, which is well and good in the general retail world, but for students stuck on campus on a Sunday, with a limited number of on-campus eateries, having one shut on Sundays limits their choice somewhat. I forwarded my suggestions for an expansion of this policy. One, any restaurant that serves beef must be banned, since cows are considered sacred to some religions, this would need to be expanded to all dairy products, milk, cheese, and butter. Two, Vegetarians may be offended by any type of meat, including some fish, so these restaurants must also be banned. And lastly, any and all foods that contain calories, like bread, vegetables and fruits must also be banned lest they cause undo stress to those who are considered obese.

so i never got the homophobia term
afraid of humanity? Posted by: comrade willow at April 24, 2015 01:09 PM (nqBYe) Well, if you parse it out, from the original Greek meaning of "homo", which is "like", as in "similar, "homophobia" means "fear of like things". So we homophobics should get a case of the screaming meemies when we run across the Doublemint Twins. But of course, the SJW's of the day got it all wrong, as is their wont. The took the "homo" prefix from "homosexual" (one who has sexual attraction to one's own sex), and made it stand for the entire word, which is plain bad structure. If there actually were a medical term for "irrational and undue fear of homosexuals" it likely would be "sodophobia", for "fear of sodomy. But the SJW's don't like that, because it reminds us of what homosexuals do, which is kind of hard to defend. You know, I suspect that there's more than a few of the LGBTQ+ crowd that actually like Chik-fil-a. What about them? Or are they "self-haters"? Posted by: I R A Darth Aggie at April 24, 2015 01:58 PM (VvOZ5) 269
261 67 We need to switch the paradigm that a college degree is the only way to success. There are lots of good paying jobs- mechanics, carpentry, etc, that don't require a four year degree.

I think all restaurants should be forced to serve meat. Otherwise, they're judging me for my carnivorism. This makes me feel unsafe.

Who the hell expects a fast food joint to be a "supportive environment"? They serve delicious food - why do you need them to pat you on the back, too? Pay your money, eat your food, go on with your day. Or, spend your money elsewhere. What's so hard about that?

Thus, to use Title IX in a gender neutral fashion, you must act as if you believe Title IX is applicable. To file a countersuit against a bakery for refusing to back a Christian cake, you must accept that a business can be sued for religious and political discrimination. Make them, especially the bureaucrats, live by their own rules that they inflict on us. Yes, it is a large, blunt hammer. I'll point you back to Natan Sharansky, a Soviet refusnik who tied up the gulag's bureaucracy in knots so badly that they eventually left him go as part of a spy swap. The bureaucracy had their rules, and he made sure they had plenty of work to do. His last great "fuck it all friday" to those Soviets occurred he was walking to the plane that would take him to the west and freedom, one of the Soviets grabbed his book of Psalms that had been his rock of faith and sanity in the gulag. Instead of shrugging and getting on the plane, he sat down in the snow and refused to move until the book was returned. This occurred in front of the western media. The book was returned, and Sharansky continued on his journey. Make them live by their own rules. Punch back twice as hard. Stupid stuff like this is why very few students give a rat's ass about student government and let it be run by leftist trust fund jerkwads and political science majors. Most students just want to pay their tuition to do the time in the classes that stand between them and the parchment they need to --hopefully-- get a job that leaves them with some semblance of dignity at the end of the day, that covers their student loans, and helps them avoid eating cat food.

Your article above is incorrect.
I've done the measurements and this is NOT a "micro-aggression". This is clearly a "Femto-aggression" as is is one quadrillionth of a full aggression, and not simply one millionth of an aggression as is claimed. Accurate measurements and the use of the correct words are necessary for proper meaning to be conveyed in a discussion. Posted by: gekkobear at April 24, 2015 02:34 PM (H0IZc) 281

Went to the SGA website and read the story about what was happening. According to the school news letter
http://www.jhunewsletter.com/2015/04/23/chick-fil-a-resolution-prompts-debate-89908/: "Following these presentations, SGA Executive President Janice Bonsu clarified that SGA was not voting to ban Chick-fil-A and does not in fact have the liberty to do so. Rather, the resolution proposed by SGA was intended to express an opinion on the matter, one that the administration may not necessarily share. The discussion culminated in a vote in which an overwhelming majority, 18 in favor and 8 against, supported an adherence to the statement made by SGA in the resolution: that all other options should be exhausted before Chick-fil-A were to come to campus." So their resolution is as feeble as they are? Posted by: RGallegos at April 24, 2015 04:35 PM (RiKdk) 286
My boy is a HS Soph, starting to look at careers/college majors now. I'm pretty torn on this.
He is on the Autism spectrum so I'm really leaning towards 2 year associates degree in some sort of skilled vocation or something. Posted by: McCool at April 24, 2015 01:18 PM (nCSwS) If your locality has a tech school that the local high schools feed into, your boy could probably do a two year program in any number of skilled trades (auto mechanics, HVAC, welding, masonry, computer networking, etc.) as part of his high school education and at no extra cost to you. The same courses are normally offered at a much lower costs than at college through evening adult education classes at the same place. Both my son and my daughter have attended the tech school in our locality and I have found, as a parent, you deal with a lot lower level of PC BS there than at the home high school. As an added bonus, my daughter can fix my car :-) Posted by: redbanzai at April 24, 2015 05:30 PM (OrI3J) 287
They just opened the first Chick-Fil-A in Puget Sound about a month ago. Drive-thru line is routinely out on the city streets, sometimes around the block and causing traffic backups requiring police to direct traffic. Even in blue Washington. Oh, the humanity...of course I'm sure it's illegal to open one in Seattle proper.

So any store that is closed on Sundays (Or Friday, Saturdays) should looses its business license and not allowed to be open for 4 or 5 days?: Any Because Religious reason.
Can a store be open every 24/7/365 day except for exactly any days of the month that are Prime Numbers? It's easy to see very well in (infact EONS!) advance when the store has pre-advised it will be closed. Do stores by-law have to pre-advise closings. Seems like too-much meddling into organic market decisions that are obviously better as-is, compared to as-influenced. Posted by: MoJoTee at April 25, 2015 09:17 AM (aR8Ih) 289

Chick-fil-a is an openly pro-Christian organization/company and therefore open to be treated intolerantly. Notice they do no such thing about muslim organizations or companies, but are more likely to Lewinsky for THEM. JIHAD is here, the velvet hammer is relentless.
