3 Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, April 24, 2015. On this day in 1967 American General William Westmoreland said in a news conference that the enemy had gained support in the United States that gives him hope that he can win politically that which he cannot win militarily. He got a lot of grief from the Anti-US news on the networks but he was exactly right. He also proved that after Sullivan's stupid ruling by SCOTUS is was virtually impossible to sue the news for libel.

8 Shame of shame, Adam Sandler has made offensive jokes about "native Americans" in an upcoming comedy. Is there any special snowflake group who is not offended these days? But I guess Mr. Sandler has missed the last few decades. There is only one group of people you can poke fun at and everyone will cheer you. That is white male Southerners.

In SC misdemeanor punishments are limited to less than 1 year and/or $5,000. Anything above that is considered a felony. So Obama and Holder really have a hard on for him. One wonders what he did to them.

36 Finalizing his breach of 2008 pre-election promises, US President Barack Obama was notably absent from memorial ceremonies in Armenia on Friday marking 100 years to the genocide committed by Ottoman Turks, in which up to 1.5 million Armenians were massacred from 1915-1917.

While Obama had pledged to recognize the massacre as a genocide, he continued to hold his silence for the anniversary after his officials told Armenian American leaders this week at the White House that he would not recognize the genocide.

Apparently fearing to run afoul of Turkey, whose Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reacted fiercely to international attempts to recognize the genocide, Obama on Thursday merely called the World War I massacres "terrible carnage."

What a fuckin coward

For once, I agree with the MFM and have for as long as I can remember.

If you are being paid to do a job, you should show the hell up or resign your seat and campaign on your own time and dime. This does not in any way show "leadership" or "principles" or anything of the sort; it shows (to me, anyway) simple arrogance.

Sure, it's easy to point out that "everyone does it," from Choom Boy right down to the most anonymous Rep. from some state whose name no one can remember, but that doesn't make it right for Cruz or anyone else.

Puts him right in the midst of the Congressional Welfare Queens, and will be a strike against him when it's time for me to decide who gets my vote.

50 "They also take a swipe at RINO Rubio too which is surprising."

That's only surprising to RINOs, who think the media is their friend. See McCain, 2008. They don't grasp that the media hates all pols who don't have D's next to their name - it doesn't matter how often they cave.

I mentioned this in the ONT but I was willowed: anybody else catch Dana Perino on Fox last night talking about what a great, swell guy Joe Biden is because gee, he was really nice to her at some party. I take it he kept his hands off her ass.

Dana wants us to know that lots of good people are Dems. They're nice to her at G-town cocktail parties. However, I never never notice Dems saying the same things about Republicans on CNN. We're all scum to them and they don't make exceptions.

If you're wondering where Ted LCF Cruz was yesterday instead of sticking around to vote on the Lynch nomination:

The dinner and fireside chat for about a dozen people with Mr. Cruz and his wife, Heidi, was at the Central Park South penthouse of Mati Weiderpass and Ian Reisner, longtime business partners who were once a couple and who have been pioneers in the gay hospitality industry.

Reisner, the owner of the OUT NYC hotel and nightclub complex near Times Square, recently purchased a commercial strip along the Fire Island Pines. Weiderpass and Reisner's penthouse apartment made headlines back in October when a 23-year-old Hell's Kitchen gay bar manager was found dead of a reported drug overdose in its bathtub.

86 @72

It's even more basic than that.

What temperature should the earth be globally?

At what time in the earths history was this supposed optimum?

How much and for how long do we have to cut back our output to reach this optimum?

And how do you square all of this with the fact that the earth has always had a narrowly chaotic variable climate?

This shit is so easy to swat away because they couldn't even begin to have any answer to these questions that wouldn't give the whole game away.

In Decline and Fall news:

A new study finds that English departments at just four of 52 top-ranked universities require English majors to take a course on William Shakespeare, the 16th century playwright and poet who is considered the English-speaking world's greatest man of letters.

Only Harvard, Wellesley, UC Berkeley and the United States Naval Academy require study of the Bard.

Even a cursory examination of real science shows that we inhabit a dynamic universe, galaxy, solar system and planet, with myriad forces acting upon the earth, both externally and internally. THAT is what drives our weather and climate. The fluctuations in those cycles, whether over the course of months, decades or tens of thousands of years IS the change.

NOTHING man does - N.O.T.H.I.N.G. - can cause changes to our climate.

Now that said, we can fuck up our environment with pollution. But at no time in recent history, especially since the Industrial Revolution has our air, land and water been cleaner. Doubt me? Then why in 100 years has the world's population gone from one billion to over 6 billion people?

It is a fucking hoax. Worse, a scam.

165 There are a handful of schools that offer the Bachelor of Science degree in English. The Naval Academy is one of them. I got to sit in on a poetry class at another Academy, and you did not get away with much bullshit there.

It's nice to walk through a Shakespeare part, and everybody should have a nodding acquaintance, but, having taken a course from a Donaldson Yalie that was one my harder classes ever, let me say that there is a lot to Shakespeare. You study some just to figure out the language and what the hell is going on -- as far as most people go -- but then you get into the layers. He didn't just recast Hollinshed's Chronicles. The more you unwrap, the more you find, and that's without venturing off in the great fantasies of what else all this could mean if you hold your head just right. I think it's fair to say that most university students today are not equipped to handle the complexity.

"refugees" mentioned above. Trey Gowdy has sent a letter to Horseface demanding answers
to multiple questions regarding these people coming to our town. I
will eat my shoe if he even gets an answer. Local talk radio was
talking about this a few weeks back and said we're to get hundreds, or
thousands, of refugees from Somalia.

There is no doubt
in my mind that this will have severe, lasting and irreversible
consequences for America. Obama, Soros and all the other America haters

Yeah, you were always wondering when the sentence was going to end.

I liked Dickens in college more than I did in high school. I think sometimes it depends on when you're first exposed to an author. A writer who is "boring" when you're 14 or 15 is someone you might enjoy a few years later, or later in life.

When you're older you can also realize that
although the language might be dated, what lit reveals about human nature is not. I'm thinking of the Dickens character who was all concerned about the welfare of children in Africa and neglected her own family. Goes to show you there were SJWs in Victorian England.

He complained about this to the director - "It's an inner-city school! The kids' hands are dirty! They're all over the switch - it's supposed to have fingerprints!" But it was all for naught. Louis B. Mayer personally called and told him, "This is an MGM picture. MGM pictures don't have fingerprints."

242 And, periods are almost never correct in boob films...

I had a GF in kollitch what was a Textile History major. Did real well with that, too. Anyway, she knew all about fashion history, and presentations in both movies and plays just drove her up-the-wall. And then, both of us studied "real" history quite a little, so we were just no fun at all.

Meanwhile, at my beloved alma mater Brooklyn College, Pamela Geller gave a talk about radical Islam - or she tried to. The room was packed with Muzzy "students" and she was jeered and heckled at every turn.

BC used to be known as "the poor man's Harvard" before open enrollment destroyed it. Now it's yet again a haven for crackpots and miscreants with PhD's and mortar boards. What is really disgusting is that the campus is in what was (and still is) a very old school Jewish neighborhood, mere blocks from where I grew up.

Sad and sickening.

I think Barbara had mentioned the Tina Crabapple and I was really shooting for that one but couldn't locate a local nursery or a shipper for it. Eventually, I wandered over to Arborday dor org and have ordered the Red Cloud Dogwood which, while not the colors I was really shooting for, ought to be decent.

Wanted to plug Arborday, though. They've got a wide selection of very inexpensive trees and shrubs, plus deals like free Forsythia shrubs with some orders. The window is closing for orders - I think for my zone last day is 4/30.

Oh, he mangled history all over the place to suit his purposes. Henry V and Richard II are shot through with anachronisms. Like you say, he wasn't writing historical plays, he was writing diversions that people would pay to watch night after night. The comedies alone should prove that.

By 1955 L.B. had been out of his job for 4 years. He had no power whatsoever. This sounds fishy to me, dude.

What did happen was that Dick Brooks discovered to his horror that the projectionist would turn off the sound whenever "Rock Around the Clock" came on because they didn't like the kids dancing in the aisles. He blew a fucking gasket and threatened to punch the manager's lights out if he didn't turn it on and leave it on.

The sun comes later in the day despite southern exposure and it has clay soil, so.... building up a bed with good soil. I've gotten a more or less shade tolerant blueberry bush and pink heather, but I'm starting to think those were poor choices.... on the plus side, neither goes deep for rooting so if I can get the bed up to around 5 inches or more that should help.

272 So.

Just heard a screening of American Sniper at University of Maryland was "postponed" (really, cancelled) because of complaints from certain groups, among which is some muslim student group.

That group's complaint was that it was demeaning to muslims and would encourage islamophobia and murder.

So it dawns on me. On one hand we are continually told that AQ and ISIS are NOT Islamic - they are perverting Islam so much that they may as well be another religion. Nope, not Islamic.

But come out with a movie showing AQ/ISIS/Islamic terrorists getting Excedrin Headache #223, and suddenly we hear that it's insensitive to muslims to show that, that it encourages an anti-muslim backlash, and so on.

Well, doesn't censoring the movie on those grounds implicitly say that those islamofascists, well, ARE representative of Islam.....? I mean, how can there be offense against muslims if the people getting blown up aren't, you know, *really* muslim.....?
