Sorry, I had a white night last night, got up at 7 after having barely slept all night, then passed out at 10.

I will put up some news in a moment. But here's an open thread until then.

toby928, .380 in that small a package-ick. A firearms instructor I talked to said the vast majority of the ruger .380 owners (and micro .380s)he's seen cannot shoot worth beans. Said the recoil was just enough to make it more challenging then it should be.
I had a Polish P64. Got rid of it. The only other gun I disliked shooting more than the P64 was a .44 magnum.

Yes, and yes. It's really not that hard. You just have to have a local FFL that will take the delivery. A lot of online dealers have a network of FFLs that you can tap into on their website, but usually they'll ship to any FFL as long as they have a copy of their license. You'll have to do the regular forms, background check, and waiting period (if applicable).

Yes and not really. Just find a FFL willing to transfer that doesn't charge more than $20 or so. Most of the online dealers have something on there web page to find FFLs in your area.

You usually need to identify the FFL that it will be delivered to beforehand. The seller ships the gun to a FFL local to you (usually a gun shop). You then go to the gun shop, they run the requisite background check, charge you a transfer fee (usually around $25-30) for handling the transaction, and hand the gun over to you.

toby928(C), I modded the heck out of mine. The recoil springs, main spring, etc. Good wooden grips. Still disliked shooting it. Iuse a high grip and my hand slid up and got cut by the slide. Didn't notice until I was almost done shooting 50 rounds thru it.
Sold it for what I paid for it. Got a Kahr CW9 and a kel-tec P11 (undergoing mods).
Cannot recommend the P11-especially for beginning shooters.

Something that might help her is mental imagery; I used to visualize my blood cells forming ambushes against the cancer cells; it kept my mind active and in a fighting spirit.

She will need to customize that kind of image to something personal to her.

It cannot be! These people who are announcing they'd like us to vote for them have no substantial reasons to offer us for WHY we should! Which of the list has stated where they actually stand on Immigration, Corruption, The Existing Republican Party, The Black Violence Situation, U.S. Muslims? Chelsea Clinton is mediocre at best. She came out of college and was immediately hired for 6 figures at a firm her parents arranged for her. To watch her speak is painful and I've heard betterorating skills from an 8th grader.
NBC paid her 600k for her little gig and they immediately regretted it but connections are connections. She will parrot anything her parents tell her to do as she does not have the intellect to do her own critical thinking. She married another mediocre person that is failing at his investment company yet has powerful parents and in-laws to provide cover and cash.

Chelsea, I'm sure you are a great mom - stick with that.

It doesn't matter where you go to get news and other information. It's been tailored just for you. This is especially true of marketing messages, and it's ESPECIALLY especially true of political marketing. Over the next year and a half, every candidate will say whatever it is you want to hear. At the same time, they'll be saying completely different things to completely different voters, but it'll be exactly what THEY want to hear.

I like "Frontline" on PBS. It's a left-leaning news magazine but the journalism is sound. It offers me a different perspective on the world.

I also like the finance channels on TV. Though there's rarely anything of real substance on CNBC, it's nice to be reminded that there's more going on in the world than war, crime, politics, corruption, sports, music awards and fires.

Twitter can be good if you follow the right accounts. I've found two tricks to effective Twitter use: (1) click the Follow button liberally, and (2) click the Unfollow button liberally.

Finally, there's nothing quite as informative as taking a break from all of it and reading a book every now and then.

356 Insomia isn't all that bad - if you have the flexiability to fall asleep whenever your brain cooperates. I've learned to live with the brain-that-would-not-shut-down, but it can be a real pain during daylight hours. One tends to make some embarassing comments during those days. Metatonin (over the counter sleep support) helps; if you don't mind some mental fuzziness in the am. Going without sleep all night eventually catches up to create that result anyway; so at least you'll be healthy.
