14 Speaking of corrupt, useless Democrat organizations, remember several
years ago when when the Obama announced with much media praise a Rural
Outreach program to accomplish ...? It was generally mocked and
dismissed by rational people as another wasteful program to be staffed by unqualified,
incompetents to make jobs for unemployable Dems and everybody forgot
about it after a few days and a good laugh. Well, looks like the
mockers were, as usual right:

....MIRV nukes just re-entering atmosphere

33 Government outreach programs and their like are not there to accomplish anything. They are there to provide jobs and graft to cronies.

And the only way we will ever stop this graft and corruption is to totally eliminate all these departments and programs that are not covered by the Constitution.

The founders knew this and it was no secret which is why the Constitution only provides for a very limited number of responsibilities of the federal government.

But they screwed the pooch with the courts which Adams took immediate advantage of.

Like I said in the morning thread, the MFM calls CLINTON CASH a "controversial" book by a "right-wing author" with a "history of dubious reporting." Howard Dean tried that on Morning Joe and *nobody* bought it, even Mika pushed back hard. It was actually fairly glorious. The author gave the NYT and WaPo the public records he used and encouraged them to do their own reporting, which they did. So Joe says it's the credibility of the two papers, not the author. Dean says there's a lot of bad political reporting. NYT reporter on the panel says "what about these specific two" reporters. Dean squirms.

123 Those voting for
the bill said Denmark did not want to remain the last northern European
country where bestiality was legal, as this was attracting animal sex
tourists. Germany, Norway, Sweden and Britain previously banned it.
"There are frequent reports of the occurrence of organized
animal sex shows, clubs and animal brothels in Denmark,"

150 We all know the Clintons are shameless, craven liars but this really is low, even for them. From Clinton Foundation site

"When the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) was founded in 2002, only 200,000 people were receiving treatment for HIV/AIDS in low and middle income countries, with medicines that cost over $10,000 per person per year. Over a decade later, more than eight million people are receiving treatment and CHAI has helped reduce the cost of medicines to around $100 to $200 per person per year in many countries."

They are claiming credit (actually implying, but none of their supporters can discern the difference) for the the advances made fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa? Everybody knows that was largely the evil George Bush was behind that. They Clinton Crony Foundation has no real accomplishments of it's own so it is trying to claim success for someone else's efforts. a hated Republican, no less. As usual, MSM is too busy digging up what Republican candidates did in high school 30 years ago to discover any of this.

Get three or four guys in on it, and maybe it's feasible, but one guy, unless he's a pitcher who comes in at a crucial time and deliberately throws meatballs, that would be a crapshoot. So many moving parts during a game, just to get to a position where you can dictate the result is entirely up to chance.

276 Renouncing citizenship by action is a pretty good example of how we practically never have taken the definition of "treason" seriously. Except when we are re-fighting the War of You-Know-What on ONT.

There ought to be a list of organizations and spheres of influence Whom You May Not Render Aid And Comfort To. And those lists ought to be under constant public debate, with all sorts of new evidence always popping up. Way fairer than the no-fly and no-gnats lists.

At a certain point, you ought to get a high-impact version of a certified letter, that your citizenship and its attendant privileges are under review, and that you are to appear to discuss the case. I don't think it would be any skin off our nose to offer free transport and, if on foreign soil when served, a military escort back into US territory. And then, you could be found Perfectly OK, No Longer A Citizen, or, A Traitor. After the right to counsel, call witnesses, be confronted by your accuser, etc. We already have the legal structure for this, and there's a bunch of other stuff they're doing instead that they can un-busy themselves with forthwith.

FWIW, it's a matter of precedent that chopping down a US flag is de facto declaration of war (Tripoli, it was). That one is going to have be nailed up on a bunch of church doors to get the word out.

I have been thinking about this lately. Juries depend on an engaged citizenry that takes the process seriously. I have started to wonder whether some people see jury duty as an extension of being a SJW, i.e. not caring (silently) about the facts of the case, because the juror has already made his or her mind up based on political, social, cultural reasons. I know there's jury selection and a way to weed out people that might exhibit this tendency, but still...

That dude in Baltimore wasn't killed by the cops because he was carrying a knife. He was killed because he decided to resist arrest in a violent manner. They're two separate issues and it's dishonest as hell to conflate them.

If it's so important to you that you need to go to war with the popo, you'd better be prepared for them to go to war with you. Johnny Law isn't going to curl up and let you kick his ass.

None of this excuses the police when they cross the line, but all of these #blacklivesmatter cases have a strong whiff of #blackdudestartedshitwiththecops. This isn't all about the police. These are the people who always used to say that rooting for the Yankees was like "rooting for US Steel." Then they got aggressive in trades and free agency and now they always contend. Two things which are closely related, but apparently very hard to do.

Actually, as someone who has known a model or two, there's more to it than that. The "super" part is mostly genetic lottery and a good agent, but modelling itself requires long hours (often of tedium), a fair amount of discomfort, and a lot of patience (because of those last two).

Not a whole lot of "skill" involved, no, but not a career that just anyone- even just anyone who is very pretty- can pick up.

They are unlawful enemy combatants and thus the Geneva conventions do not apply to them. They do not wear a uniform, or fight under a flag and they fight for nonstate actors. 483 "They are flying into neutral sovereign nations, and used to specifically target NON UNIFORMED individuals..."

(1) We can't force them into uniforms. Wearing an identifiable uniform would be nice but is not required.

(2) Neutral sovereign nations? If that nation cannot eradicate these people in its territory then it will be done for them. That is the way nations have always acted and will act.

If we could serve a warrant and conduct an arrest it would be done - is done in nations that actually have some control of their territory beyond an inked line on a map. Some of these places are bandit territory not controlled by any actual nation. I'm really not fond of giving out sanctuaries to terrorists just so that I can say I followed some piety about sovereignty that is not representative of the reality of that place.

(3) A drone fires a Hellfire. An F-16 drops a bomb. The result is the same only the platform is different.

There have always been stupid stuff marketed to the wealthy and the foolish, but only produced in limited quantities.

For instance, the Delorean. It was meant to be a collector's item from the get go.

But, and many do not know this, the Delorean was offered in a gold-plated edition. Like only a hundred or less of these models were made (or proposed to be made). It was meant for the Man Who Had Everything except a gold-plated car.

I'm not saying Apple is Delorean, but the idea is the same. The difference today is that Apple is successful where Delorean failed in mass marketing.

Actually.

Uniforms are required, by LOAC and the Geneva conventions. The point of a uniform is to make you identifiable. And more importantly to distinguish fighters from innocent civilians, in order to reduce civilian deaths

Posted by: ThunderB, Quite Capable of Violence at April 23, 2015 12:26 PM (zOTsN)

In lieu of uniforms, partisans/guerrillas can also invoke legal combatant status by the use of an identifying armband or brassard. Band of Brothers miniseries, when Easy meets up with the Dutch resistance at Eindhoven, the Dutch resistance troops are all in civilian clothes with orange armbands.

565 I'm sure the Senate GOP will argue this is aimed at the Supreme Court, to eviscerate the central administration argument in King v. Burwell.

There, the argument has gone that ending the subsidies will unfairly end distribution of benefits to citizens of states controlled by GOP governors (the term "Republicans" does not include John Kasich).

Extending the benefits temporarily proves to the Supremes that the Senate is capable of doing something supremely distasteful and extend the subsidies while the issue is sorted out legislatively.

This argument works better if the Senate Demoncrats and Obama try to fight this bill, but lets forget that for a moment.

Posted by: ThunderB, Quite Capable of Violence at April 23, 2015 12:30 PM (zOTsN)

A combatant, uniformed or non uniformed... is usually defined as someone either Under Arms, or in operational control of those Under Arms... ie commanders.

A criminal.... even a murder, is not considered to be under arms, even if they have a weapon, because they are not part of an Operational Chain of Command.

Some on the list, who have been killed... were neither gun carriers, or in the chain of command... but were POLICITAL operatives.

Question... is it a LEGAL military target, to send a bombing mission, to target.... a newspaper? a Parliament? A Propaganda operative?

and I would note, this list is not even being run out of the Pentagon... it is being run by the National Security Advisor... who is NOT in the Military Chain of Command...

Posted by: blaster at April 23, 2015 12:43 PM ....Not buying it. Hillary if fcking entitled dammit! She didn't stay married to Bill all these years, create off shore accounts, foundations, secret payout's wiped servers and a few dead seals to quit now! This bitch feels immune and for good reason. The media have been polishing her balls for years and they've always walked away from the wreck's unscathed. You're discounting the fucking lemmings that are the Dem party. These points aren't necessarily contradictory.

I agree that the number one reason for her to run is that the point of the foundation is to launder money. If she is stymied, the influence of the Clintons will plummet, as will any reason for shoveling money at them. She has to run, and keep the show going as long as possible.

And sadly, she still has a very real chance to doing it.

And if the judge is letting someone sue on BEHALF of the chimps, how did said person communicate with the chimps to ensure their side of the story and to make sure they wanted to sue?

Yes, a citizen killing an attacking police dog = 5-10 years in jail for killing a "peace officer"

A cop killing a retreating citizens dog = the police department has to pay to cover the cost of the "chattel" which is usually around $500. Mayyybe the cop gets a cruelty to animals misdemeanor charge and gets fined and a few months on probation.

You obviously have a while to officially announce, but we know 99% of the Republicans that are going to run for President. These people are hiring staff, visiting early states, raising money, etc.

With the Dems, there's NONE of that besides O'Malley. With many people answering directly with "No, I'm not going to run, period."

I think the Dems are stuck with her.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad for us, my hope though was we could have an election battle on ideas instead of "first female President" bullshit.

But how does the guardian know what the chimps best interests are?

I mean, I get it in court... a guardian can sue on behalf of a minor child. But the minor child is either too young to be a plaintiff in a case (you'd have to the age of majority, right?), or too young to communicate.

But we do that because we assume the parent / legal guardian has a firm grasp on the childs "best interests".... not because children are incapable of communication (like chimps).

Right?

I don't know, I'm confusing myself.

Another question... Can I sue a chimp? Like if the chimp discriminates against me?

I work closely with HP as part of my job.

They were horrific to work with. Absolutely horrific. They've only been getting marginally better in recent years.

But to give you a little example: HP Direct was competing directly with HP Channel sales people. The channel sales people get paid on what resellers sell, and HP was bidding against their own resellers.

And this began under Carlys predecessor (forget his name) but got worse and worse until Whitman essentially ended HP Direct. To the point where the HP channel sales guys would tell the HP Direct guys (their "superiors" on paper) about deals they were working on for fear the the direct guys would steal the deal away.

So HP had no sales forecasts (or bullshit ones) to rely on when trying to manufacture equipment. Since everyone was afraid to put deals in the system, since they were all competing against their co-workers.

Stupid, stupid, system.
