Bipartisan!

Bipartisanship was in the air as congressional leaders formally signed a bill to permanently end automatic cuts to doctors under Medicare on Thursday.
The so-called "doc fix". "I want to thank Leader Pelosi for her indispensable leadership," Boehner said. "Its really great to be here with you, Mr. Speaker, in this bipartisan manner," Pelosi later told him. Sen. Hatch and Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) embraced.

Bipartisan!!

A bipartisan group of House members has filed legislation to hike the federal gas tax and index it to inflation to pay for a new transportation bill.

Bipartisan!!!

Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) is teaming up with Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer (Calif.) on legislation to tax up to $2 trillion in corporate revenue currently stored in foreign banks to pay for domestic infrastructure projects.

I actually cut out coffee and wine for about a week and then I gradually started back again. I think the trigger is food - especially spicy foods. I made a meat sauce on Wednesday, onions, a little garlic and tomatoes and then the following day, after half a cup of java - boom. Miserable all day. Even after taking Zantac.

Stress doesn't help either.

24 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes.

Here's the weekly Ziegfeld girl, Ruth Etting:

http://goo.gl/TamImo

She starred in the Midnight Frolic of 1919, the Follies of 1927 and 1931 and in the Ziegfeld musical Whoopee.

The historian David Sheilds called her "one of the innovative singers of popular song in the golden age of Broadway. . .blessed with a relaxed, floating voice, relatively free of vibrato, yet capable of bluing notes and slurring for emotional effect." She was known for her definitive performances of such standards as "Mean to Me," "You Made Me Love You," "Ten Cents A Dance" and "Love Me or Leave Me."

Love Me or Leave Me, by the way, was also the title of the 1955 biopic starring Doris Day as Etting and James Cagney as her husband, mobster Martin "The Gimp" Schneider:

http://goo.gl/ipBqlP

Here's a recording of the real Ruth Etting from 1927, singing "I'm Nobody's Baby" -

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

And someone thinks that Congress isn't deferring to Obama enough:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Thursday said Senate Republicans should allow a vote on Loretta Lynch, President Obama's nominee for attorney general.

"I think that presidents have a right to pick their team in general," said Bush at a town hall event in Concord, N.H. "Someone who is supportive of the presidents policies, whether you agree with them or not, there should be some deference to the executive. This should not always be partisan."

48 Italy's migration crisis took on a deadly new twist Thursday as police
in Sicily reported that Muslim migrants had thrown 12 Christians
overboard during a recent crossing from Libya, and an aid group said
another 41 were feared drowned in a separate incident.

Eventually the threat was carried out and 12 were pushed overboard. The
statement said the motive was that the victims "professed the Christian
faith while the aggressors were Muslim."

The Girl Scouts are opening a troop at a gay pride center in Salt Lake City that officials say will welcome transgender youth and children from LGBT families.

The new Utah troop had its first meeting Monday with five girls ages 7 to 11. They made friendship bracelets, learned the Girl Scout handshake and sang songs. Salt Lake City mother Sarah Hemmert said she brought her two daughters because her family includes members who don't conform to the gender they were born with, and she wants her girls to be in a place where their family dynamic is accepted.

85 I've only ever had the chance to sass a pol once. One of the many corruptocrats here in Massholistan is a slimy POS named Marty Meehan, who, when he first ran, did so on a pledge of term limits. Of course, like any Dem, he was lying.

I ran into him gladhanding people at a T stop after he'd announced - in so many words - that he was just too damned important to limit himself to one term. He reached out his hand and I looked straight into his eyes and snarled, "Well, so much for term limits, right, asshole?"

Fucker didn't blink an eye. Just kept the same phony smile on his face and reached for another hand.

87 Morning folks! Glad to the usual assortment of malcontents and miscreants is here. It's always nice to read the blog before going to school. It helps me deal with the buffoonery on campus.

Yesterday evening I was getting some dinner between classes and a nice young coed asked me to fill out a survey about anti Muslim bias on campus. I asked her to hold my bacon burger while I filled it out, and thanked her for her interest in my opinion.

95 The GOP as currently constituted is a gutless, worthless, principleless political party.

It cannot be reformed, it cannot be saved, it must be destroyed and a new party needs to take its place.

Principles need to be established, adhered to and strictly enforced.

97 because her family includes members who don't conform to the gender they were born with,

and they say we're the ones who deny science.
_______________________

It's weird how they try to pretend that those differences aren't real. I get that some people feel they are the "wrong" gender, but that doesn't change the fact that they are the gender they are. A man can have his penis and testicles surgically removed, he can have petroleum sacs of saltwater surgically implanted in his chest to mimic breasts, he can take hormones to raise his voice and stop the growth of facial hair, he can wear dresses and paint his fingernails pink, etc., but he is still a male. Genetically, biologically, chromosomally, he's a male, and none of those cosmetic illusions are going to change that fact.

Remember those headlines a few years ago about the transgender "man" who was having a baby? It's so friggin' ridiculous. Men don't have babies. Men don't have uteruses or fallopian tubes or ovaries. That was a woman, pretending to be a man, who had that baby. Her body knew she was a woman, even if she and her "progressive" friends were unwilling to admit it.

The left's willingness to continually deny facts that don't comport with how they want to view the world is deeply troubling.

104 Just saw a post with a link related to tax day and how federal tax dollars are spent. Of course, he was outraged and ashamed to be an American since only 2.5% of every dollar was "invested" in our kids future. Yet another liberal fool that is unaware that the federal govt provides (thankfully) a small part of school funding. We pay huge porperty taxes to pay for schools and the states kick in as well with more taxpayer money. We have the highest )or very close to highest) per pupil funding in the world. Lack of money is not the problem with our failing education system

I was going to reply with some of the above but didn't bother, wouldn't do any good as the information did not come from MSNBC, Huffpo or some other MSM news outlet so it would be considered right wing lies. With LIV's like this who needs enemies to destroy our country?

There's so much more from his event. He compares the Bush family to the Adams -- approvingly. And he does the Bush Inc patented Compassionate Conservative (tm) thing:

The 62-year-old presumed presidential candidate said he has a three-fold strategy to overcoming objections if he runs in 2016. First, he said, 'I want to show my heart, I want to show I care about people. I have a proven record of doing that in my life as well as governor,' he said. You 'have a heart for people, you got to care about the plight they're in.'

Well that tears it. If Gwyneth Paltrow, known paragon of grit and determination, can't make it work then surely no one can. This is why the people you see on food stamps are so notoriously thin.

Really the food stamp challenge bullshit should annoy anyone, even people who do want the government to provide feed people. No one is given $29 and told that that is all they can spend on food. It's supplemental, which is in the damn name now, SNAP. Most everyone on food stamps has some bullshit job or SSI, and the kids on food stamps all qualify for school meals and/or WIC. If you have no income, you get a ton of money in food stamps. If you have an income that covers only your rent, utilities and transportation costs, you get the exact same amount of food stamps as if you had no income, that is, a shitton. If you have an income that covers your rent, utilities and transportation and half the amount that the state has determined you need for food, you get half of a shit ton. There are people who only get $10 a month in food stamps---because they have other income of like $40K.

/end rant
