As Unaccompanied Minors Flow Into Country Again, Polling Shows Public Hardening Against Illegals

Obama doesn't fix problems: He only fixes perceptions.

He got the Unaccompanied Minor Immigrants stories off the front page, and off of Americans' minds.

He did not, of course, actually do anything about the problem.

The Washington Times:

The second wave of unaccompanied illegal immigrant children has begun, with more than 3,000 of them surging across the Mexican border into the U.S. last month -- the highest rate since the peak of last summer's crisis and a warning that another rough season could be ahead.

Immigration officials warned that they expected another surge as the weather improved. Although the numbers are down some 40 percent compared with last year's frenetic pace that sparked a political crisis for the Obama administration, fiscal year 2015 is shaping up to mark the second-biggest surge on record.

Authorities report having captured 15,647 children traveling without parents who tried to jump the border in the first six months of the fiscal year. Through this point in 2014, they had apprehended 28,579.

Meanwhile, from the Washington Examiner, Americans are getting tired of being told that things that are genuine problems are merely political problems for Obama to pretend away.

Despite President Obama's efforts to cool the nation's views on illegal immigrants storming over the U.S.-Mexico border, Americans have reached a new level of anger over the issue, with most demanding a more aggressive deportation policy -- and reversal of a law that grants citizenship to kids of illegals born in the U.S.

A new Rasmussen Reports survey released Monday also finds Americans questioning spending tax dollars on government aid provided to illegal immigrants. A huge 83 percent said that anybody should be required to prove that they are "legally allowed" to be in the country before receiving local, state or federal government services.

Overall, the poll is bad news for the White House because it shows sustained, and in some cases, elevated anger and frustration over the surge in undocumented immigrants in the United States.

For example, 62 percent told the pollster that the U.S. is "not aggressive enough" in deporting those illegally in the United States...

That 62 percent number is a jump from a year ago when it was 52 percent.

The media loves hitting wedge issues that hurt Republicans -- abortion in cases of rape, for example, not only divide Republicans from moderates, but often Republicans from each other.

Uncontrolled illegal immigration is a wedge issue which hurts Democrats -- which is why Obama attempts to paper over the problem rhetorically, while permitting it to flourish, and why the media is not interested in covering the problem.

The media is simply not interested in stories which may hurt their beloved Democrat Party.

The Obama Administration Has a Solution: Namely, they're sending planes to Central America -- to bring more illegal children here, to be reunited with their illegal immigrant parents, already present in America.

7 It's not as though anyone in the Republican Party is interested in doing something crazy like speak in favor of something a majority supports.

Hell, I can't think of any politician that is willing to discuss increasing deportations--yet 62% of the public is in favor that.

61 Uncontrolled illegal immigration is a wedge issue which hurts Democrats

Very true, Ace. But it doesn't hurt them enough.

It also hurts American citizens, far more than it does the crooked politicos sitting on their well-insulated asses in D.C.

And therein -- IMO -- lies the problem: for the privileged few, this is an issue of Political Calculation, of weighing the possible gains in person/partisan power against the "cost" of spending more of that phoney money they have lying around. For normal humans, it is becoming an issue of safety and survival.

Perhaps the government can keep printing the fake spondulix. But you can't fake food, or the jobs that make it possible for normal people to buy food.

Could this maybe be the issue that takes Choom Boy out of the Too Big To Impeach League? Will the Konservative Komment Kommandos finally think the "optics" of national collapse are worse than those of impeachment?

Ahhhhh, fuggedaboutit. If giving Iran nukes, turning on Israel, supporting Muzzie terrorism and the rest of the Mocha Messiah's misdeeds aren't enough, why should anyone care about a few million illegals?

As far as people who have recently become hardened against illegal aliens, well, boo hoo. If they were stupid enough to not see that Obama's policies were going to encourage even more minors to come here illegally, I'm not sure that there's much help for them.

91 Day before yesterday, I stood in line at a grocery store to buy beer.... the 'speed line'...

A Hispanic couple in their 40's, were trying to check out... speaking Spanish to the check out lady...

They used a WIC card... and she was trying to buy Claritin... and NEITHER had any ID... so they could not sign the book to buy it...

I was there for 20 minutes...

Got to the point me and the guys in front of me were making VERY pointed remarks.... which were, of course... ignored...

They then walked out... these people with NO ID to buy Claritin..... and even in California where we GIVE Illegals drivers Licenses, got into a Cadillac Escalade... and drove off... (how they were legally driving, but had no ID??? gotz me...).

I'm very very tired of being the only one expected to follow the damn rules...

We have the same situation here in Georgia. Everybody knows what he problem is but is afraid to say it in a group. When I talk to other parents privately I can get them to admit that, yes, the problem is the influx of non-english speaking students, not just "overcrowding" Getting them to take the next step and admit that illegal immigration is the cause the the influx just might be possible but at the risk if being called a mean, hateful racist.. People want to convince themselves that they are compensation and it's all for the children, even at the expense of their own. Years of brainwashing and White Guilt have been very effective

101 My mom has been watching this PBS show on the Red Star Line and the immigrants that came over during that time. Fascinating stories, I love hearing stories of how and why people came here.

BUT, and I'm not even sure why I sense this, I feel a little like docs like this, being chosen to be broadcast at this specific time, are supposed to subtly convince me that we should let in anyone at anytime, no questions asked, rubber stamp them in. Which, is not even close to the same thing as the immigration that took place back then. I feel like the timing of shows like this are suspect, to subtly turn the gears of approval for LIVs, and I was bothered feeling that way by an otherwise interesting program.

At the end of 2013, the state had 323,000 or 6.9 percent unemployed, ranking 17 out of 50 states in percentage unemployed.

The fiscal costs of illegal immigration in North Carolina are estimated at $2.0 billion per year or 9.7 percent of the state’s $20.7 billion annual budget. This is $578 annually for each North Carolina native or naturalized citizen household.

Well, the left has two contradictory problems to face:

1) native born americans (and westerners and asians, for that matter) are not having enough kids to maintain our population size. That's good because population bomb, global warming, white privilege, whatever.

2) We now have a situation where there soon will not enough workers to support social security, the trillions in unfunded liabilities and the 18T+ in current debt. That's bad, because progressive would never cut spending or curb entitlements.

Solution? Hey, plenty of young people south of the border having a ton of kids. They don't add to the total population of the planet but they can (haha yeah right) take the place of the native born americans who weren't born.

So shifting people from central / south america to the US to paper over shortfalls in population growth (and thus shortfalls in workers to pay for welfare/ SS) is a better solution than encouraging americans to have MORE kids.

And hopefully the central /south americans pick up americans habit of having fewer kids than replacement rate in a few generations.

246 Dear Abby,
After years of gentle persuasion, my girlfriend has finally consented to anal. Obviously, I'm excited.

But here's the problem -- I want to send her a dozen roses with a simple message before the event. Nothing elaborate, just a simple message to announce my gratitude. I can order the roses, but no florist I've found so far will convey my message. Don't I have 1st Amendment rights? I can't believe how many florists have hung up the phone on me.

Signed,
Confused

PS: The message is simple, "I can't wait to f*ck you in the @ss." What the hell is wrong with this country?

247 225 I was able to interview a young woman, whom I am calling "Jacquelina". She is an attractive girl, barely 19, and has struggled along with her family to come to the United States. Having arrived, taxpayers showered her with free housing, free furniture and clothing (including some super-cute things from Gilt), free food, a cell phone with President Obama's picture as a background image, free education, spending money every month and our best wishes to her family. All went well.

Then, she got into college at UVa.

262 "He finally realized it was all just a racket."

It is. There is supposed to be a large fund down in Austin somewhere whose sole and only purpose is to pay for the removal of dormant mills and returning the property to it's original condition.

Think anybody besides lawyers and fat cats will ever see any of that?

In 10-20 years there will giant rusting, falling down windmills all over the place.

I know of a (white) guy back home who got funding from the United Negro College Fund the whole time at college. It isn't if anyone actually comes out to verify race, but he mentioned he would have demanded a "purity test" to prove he wasn't black and gone public with it.

275 I feel so sorry for these young people that are risking their lives to come here. They have been invited by our government, selfish business owners, and political activists looking to use them to score political points. Some of these young people will die en route. While I do not support breaking our laws, I do understand why a desperately poor people might be lured here. In some countries in Central and South America there is crushing poverty, and these young people have no hope of a better life. For most of them, this is what they want, and it is what has been promised to them. For every young person that dies in the desert, or is raped and beaten, our government, Obama, political activists, and selfish business interests are to blame. Their blood is on their hands, not the hands of the American people, who support the rule of law and securing the borders. Securing our borders will prevent the unnecessary deaths of immigrants. Why this is framed as racist makes not sense. If anything, it's those that want to exploit these poor people that are inhumane, selfish, and yes, racist.
