High School Teacher: Hey, Let's Burn Down Memories Pizza

Freedom's just another word for the Government's List of Things You Must Do.

Sorry I've been away; I've been attempting to get the "libertarians" at Reason to take a more forward-leaning stance on liberty, but they don't seem very interested.

This Jim Antle piece is good. I mean, sad, and upsetting, but good.

I've got half a mind to become a Muslim and begin affirmatively pushing for Sharia. At least I know the left won't f*** around with me then.

A member of a religious minority can, as a conscientious objector, be exempt from taking up arms in wartime. Most Americans would recognize that as the type of freedom that makes the country worth fighting for in the first place.

But a member of a religious minority cannot be exempt from baking a cake for a ceremony contrary to her faith. That, some say, is bigotry.

Well. I happen to think pacifism is misguided, but that's not a good argument for forcing pacifists to fly B-52s.

...

Make no mistake, the famous baker, photographer and florist are a religious minority. Who has more social, political and market power --Apple CEO Tim Cook and the hundreds of corporations asking the Supreme Court to rule in favor of gay marriage, or the small number of Christian wedding vendors who want to act on a private belief in the same definition of marriage Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton not long ago were in favor of enshrining in law?

"God's in the mix," Obama said of how marriage is defined during the 2008 presidential campaign.

God’s not in the cake mix, bigot, say liberals in 2015.

...

In fact, the new social liberals sound a lot like the old social conservatives. We have a public moral code around here and if you don’t comply with it, you’d better keep it to yourself.

He links this piece by George Yancey about the actual phobia supported by the Establishment. You know, the actual power-brokers and culture-makers: "Christianophobia."

Well, anti-Christian hostility is certainly real, captured by the American National Election Studies, which include questions about animosity toward various social groups. About one third of respondents rated conservative Christians significantly lower (by at least one standard deviation) than other religious and racial groups.

The only group to fare worse was atheists, who received low rankings from nearly half the respondents. But while atheists drew more global hostility than any other group, the negative rankings for conservative Christians came from a disproportionate number of white, highly educated, politically progressive, and wealthy respondents.

As this survey illustrates, animosity toward Christians involves racial, educational, and economic factors; the people most likely to hold negative views of conservative Christians also belong to demographic groups with high levels of social power. Rich, white, educated Americans are major influencers in media, academia, business, and government, and these are the people most likely to have a distaste for conservative Christians.

...

Their attitudes reflected the negativity toward Christians found in earlier research, with some particularly extreme and troubling remarks. Responding to open-ended questions, they said:

"Churches and houses of religion should be designated as nuclear test zones."

"Kill them all, let their god sort them out."

"The only good Christian is a dead Christian.”

I cannot determine by my data the percentage of Americans with such a level of vitriol, but judging by the comments, it's not a trivial amount.

Well, the American Project is drawing to a close. Result: Failure.

29 And so I face the final curtain.

My friend, I'll say it clear,

I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.

I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;

But more, much more than this,

I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;

But then again, too few to mention.

I did what I had to do

And saw it through without exception.

I planned each charted course;

Each careful step along the byway,

But more, much more than this,

I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew

When I bit off more than I could chew.

But through it all, when there was doubt,

I ate it up and spit it out.

I faced it all and I stood tall;

And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.

I've had my fill; my share of losing.

And now, as tears subside,

I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;

And may I say - not in a shy way,

"No, oh no not me,

I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?

If not himself, then he has naught.

To say the things he truly feels;

And not the words of one who kneels.

The record shows I took the blows -

And did it my way!

Speaking of which, I just found out that when Iran hangs someone they don't drop them so their neck breaks. They slowly lift you off the ground so you asphyxiate for 20 minutes or so. And they did this to a 16 year old girl. For being raped.

It goes to what CS Lewis said. In short, that dictatorship was preferable to rule by moral busybodies, because the dictator's cruelty was limited and uneven. Someone who persecutes you for your own good, however, can make your life a living hell endlessly with the approval of their own conscience.

We often call the Left amoral, but what they actually have is the exact reverse of our morality. They may play moral opposite day with us, but they're moral crusaders, just like the people who tried to ram Prohibition through.

There are lots of well-adjusted people out there. I even know a couple of them.

They don't need anyone to tell them what to think or how to act. They're full grown adults, aware of what's going on in the world, the good and the bad.

We never, ever hear about them because they're the standard against which everything else is measured. Exhibit A: witness the stories on child abductions. The reason we hear about them at all is their deviation from the norm. The same goes for murder, robbery and all the other illegal-type stuff.

The overwhelming majority of people never even entertain the thought of harming others.

This is common knowledge amongst the Horde. I'm mostly just typing this to remind myself. However, the radical, far-left psychos want everyone to now believe that these people are Xtianist totalitarians who want to establish some sort of Nazi regime to enslave America.

I never thought that I'd be targeted as "teh Enemy" for having standards, believing in them and not catering to any insane whim of those who live on the fringes of society.

-------------------------

If your son is still a teenager (as opposed to an adult who's thinking about becoming a scoutmaster), check with your local churches. For instance, the LDS Church still maintains its scout troops, and is unlikely to clash with the items listed. The local LDS meeting house will either have its own troop, or be linked to another meeting house that does.

Everybody made fun of them because we went ahead and did this, that, and the other thing (more often than not because of a court ruling and not popular sentiment) and civilization didn't end--right away.

Well guess what folks, it is over now and the cesspit is full and we all get to wallow in it.

265 Anyone wanna bet we'll be having a similar discussion a few years down the road, only it will be about some business that denied bathroom or locker room access to a person whose biologocal sex doesn't match their gender identity?Posted by: Lizzy at April 01, 2015 08:24 PM (TLTHv)

Lizzy....you must not have heard what happened at Planet Fitness in a Michigan town.
Planet Fitness had a client who went to management and complained when she was startled by a man who came into the women's locker room and hung up his shirt, etc. She was told that Planet Fitness' policy was that everyone could use whatever gender locker room they identified with...
She began telling other members about this policy and after a couple of days, Planet Fitness cancelled her membership and barred her from entry. Said she was being disruptive.
They are proud of their non gender/gender of the day locker rooms.

I drove by a Planet Fitness several weeks after this story was all over the news, and the parking lot was full on a Saturday. Our society is lost....

It could, but there'd be a resources problem since the lower atmosphere is so toxic that even robotic mining would be impossible.

Mars is far more practical, even in its dead state. eleven was referring to a post the other day where I shared my mad terraforming plan. Use a lot of ion engines to move a large number of belt asteroids into Martian orbit, then conglomerate them into a Martian moon with the same mass ratio as Earth-Luna. This would hopefully be enough to restart the planet's core via tidal forces, which would restart the magnetic field, prevent atmospheric stripping, and make it possible to begin atmospheric terraforming.

Or you could take a shortcut and use the same technology you used on the asteroids to redirect a comet into that carbon dioxide icecap on one of the poles.

Small town folks are damned either way. If they don't talk, they are bigoted and spiteful, small-brained... not worldly. No sir. They don't even trust a city TV reporter! If they do say something, they likely are busy living their life and are not aware of the current SJW minefield alive and well at the moment.

Main sequence stars like the Sun slowly and gradually burn hotter as they age. It's been estimated that Earth's oceans will boil away in less than a billion years from now.

That's much sooner than the Sun reaching the red giant stage, which will happen in about five billion years.

It's sobering to think that most of the history of Earth's life is in the past, and I am intensely curious what Venus may have been like a billion or two years ago.

On the bright side, that's more ammo for a huge lawsuit. If that pizzeria hasn't been defamed, then the legal definition means nothing.

All that is needed is to designate those that are proscribed for whatever reason and then use the power of the state to destroy and subjugate them by restricting their rights, liberties, ability to hold property, or by merely picking them up at night and taking them to a field and shooting them in the head.

Other than that, my only hope is that no manner of oppression, propaganda, reeducation, fascism, repressive jack-booted thuggery can change the fact that my children (now nearly 10 yrs old & 8 1/2), when grown, will ask themselves 'is this world better than the one I remember as a child?' THAT is something that can give me comfort. That contrast - the before and after contrast - will be MUCH greater than in USSR/Czarist Russia, China, Cambodia, Cuba, N Korea, etc.

The collectivist fucks can't change that. I'll be long dead and gone, probably not due to natural causes.

As I see it, there are two ways to go. 1. Let the Left get complete control, and watch it all burn, or 2. Reverse the culture that lead to this mess.

If I had kids, I'd reject option one outright. No parents should want their kids living in the burning times.

I still believe in option 2. Home school your kids. Get them to read a book rather than watch tv or get on the internet. Pass reforms that limit funding to colleges with "fake degrees" i.e, degrees that are worthless in the job market. Take colleges to court over speech codes. Fight political correctness.

That's just a start.

640 There was a short essay in Analog many years ago about what books a civilization would require.

One was a book about machining. I don't remember the author or the book but the general idea was about making gears, advanced math, tools, and techniques. I would want metallurgy, and chemistry, and how to make 'lectricty. And a table of logarithms. New books don't have those tables anymore. It's too easy to generate your own on the computer. Too easy to do advanced calculations on the computer without knowing logs.

The left has spent the past few decades teaching our nation's children that anything to do with Western Civilization is evil, and this includes Christianity.

It's too bad all the surprised people out there couldn't bother to pay attention to what the past three generations of children were being taught in the public schools. Maybe if people did pay attention a little more we wouldn't be in this complete mess. Posted by: Insomniac at April 01, 2015 09:55 PM (mx5oN)

Not exactly. The Founders' whole idea was to create a government that didn't depend on the "right people", who don't exist. (Remember that leftists keep imaging that their schemes would work if only the "right people" were in charge.)

What doomed America is that we have strayed from the original blueprint. The 16th and 17th Amendments, voting as a right instead of an earned privilege, etc.

713 Forrester was an insulin-dependent diabetic and had very limited post apocalyptic needed skills. Securing and preserving the books gave him leverage. He exchanged the books' location for life in the Sen. Jellico compound. He also formulated the mustard gas bombs that mostly wiped out the attacking cannibal horde. Some commentator here recently said that pigs were preferred for that so don't know if the book got the biology science right.

722 In the beginning of the movie, "The Book of Eli" he is wearing what looks like a keffiyeh; perhaps scrounged. He trades it for water.

In the end, he is dressed as a Muslim for burial, yet memorized the Christian Bible to preserve it, or you might say it was given to him in dreams as Mohammed claimed the Koran was given to him by an angle.

And the book goes between the Torah, and the Koran. (I think, between, next to, with)

It's all Hollywood mystery. I took it to mean that the US got nuked in a Holy War against Christianity by the followers of the Prophet. It's more Hollywood magic that lets everyone see what they want to see. The preservers of knowledge were apparently academics, you see. And Carnegie wanted the book to use it to manipulate people. . another simile to Mohamud.

I know where mine is because I got to dig multiple holes to locate it. Immediately created a treasure map.
Start at west end of rock wall in front of house. Proceed east 15 paces and...
No way you get the rest. Ammo cache is sitting on top of septic tank in sealed poly tube.
That way I can dig up ammo and position outhouse over giant receptacle in one fell swoop.

734 The problem as with too many things, is with the language, specifically with vapid, vague words like "discrimination." But.. but... (petulant lip quiver) your law allows people to DISCRIMINATE against the ghey, etc.

Hey stupido: "discrimination" is simply another word for "ability to choose." There are lawful, moral, and defensible choices, such as refusing to say "Seig Heil" in the street, and indefensible, traditionally illegal choices in our society, such as refusing to serve a black person at a lunch counter.

Every choice, every judgment is "discrimination" at some level. So STFU.
